    Hull vs Cardiff
Yes, @Tiffy, my father also said "they'll always let you down!". Still, I remain a confident Bluebird heading into these final two games. The Derby game was a catalogue of errors but Neil Warnock won't let that get into the heads of the players. The team has gone into lock down mode this week to ensure that no needless negativity from the minority of fans affects the players.
Our record against Hull over recent seasons hasn't been great. We haven't won at the KC Stadium since 26th February, 2011 and have only beaten the Tigers once in the past six meetings. However, crucially, that single victory came earlier this season so history might not tell us anything here.
Nigel Adkins has got Hull playing a lot better recently. He struggled to get them firing after being appointed back in December. He only won 1 of his first 10 league games in charge. Recent form has greatly improved and they are now 1 loss from their last 6 league games. It is a run of results that has eradicated any relegation fears.
Cardiff will need to dig deep after the disappointment against Derby in midweek. I think deep down all Cardiff fans knew it was going to be a tough one due to the bad blood created by snow gate and Sean Morrison's Whatsapp video about Richard Keogh being a bottle job. Nice one, Sean! Do their team talk for them!
Anyway, City fans have been keen to maintain perspective. If somebody said back in pre-season that we'd be on 86 points after 44 games and need to win our last 2 matches to get promoted then we'd have snatched at the opportunity. The players have been superb all season. They deserve our support for these final two games so I'm going to give it to them. I'm backing Cardiff to bounce back with a win here to take it to the final day with it still in our hands. I don't care if I get it wrong. I'd rather be wrong backing my team than right going against them! Come on, Bluebirds!!!
P.s. with my neutral pundit hat on I'd probably have to go for a 1-1 draw if I'm honest...

    Derby vs Cardiff
Huge game for my beloved Bluebirds tonight as we take on Derby away at Pride Park in a 7:45pm kick-off. It's the re-arranged match back from when the snow fell. The whole situation has been farcical. Even down to the verbal exchanges between the club officials, fans, and players. Yes, if you haven't seen the Sean Morrison Whatsapp video then probably best you don't waste your time!
This is a crunch game for Cardiff. A win here could potentially set it up for us to be automatically promoted this coming weekend away at Hull. Those that want us to fail are claiming this is a do or die game. It's not. It's a freebie. It's a chance to really move to the cusp of the Premier League.
I was delighted with the win last weekend against Nottingham Forest. I think given his own pre-season with the players, Karanka will do something with Forest next season. They are clearly a capable team already. It was a potential banana skin we avoided. One of the main reasons for that was the return of Joe Ralls but also the return to form of Aron Gunnarsson. His match-winning goal and THAT block after the Sol Bamba error summed up just why we are at the top against all the odds.
It'll be interesting to see what squad Warnock opts for here. He's done well to calm down the furore that had built between the clubs after snow-gate by being complimentary about Derby as a club. It's all mind games. He doesn't want Derby firing with a chip on their shoulder.
The form of the Rams has been woeful lately. Exactly like it was at the back-end of last season. It's suggested that Rowett pushes his players too much throughout the season so when it comes to the business end they have nothing left. Just 2 wins from their last 13 matches and 4 losses from their last 6 games appears to back that. Their home record isn't great either as they haven't even hit the 50% win ratio on home turf.
All the talk is about Cardiff's promotion hopes here but there's more pressure on Derby. We can afford to lose and still have matters in our own hands. If Derby lose tonight then their fate is taken out of their control. It's in front of their own fans and they'll get twitchy if things don't start well. I know. I've been there as a Cardiff fan. I'm quietly optimistic we can win this and look to seal promotion at the KC Stadium on the weekend. I think the draw no bet and less than 2.5 goals scored are the best bets here. Cheeky small wager on Kenneth Zohore to score anytime as well if you fancy it.

    Wolves vs Birmingham
Not going to lie, I am absolutely buzzing after yesterday's results with Cardiff winning 2-0 at Norwich to defy all the stats and form tables plus Fulham conceding in the 4th minute of injury time to drop points to Brentford. A knock-on effect of that second result was league leaders Wolves being confirmed as promoted. What a party Molineux is set to witness this lunch-time.
It's a shame the fixture isn't reversed and at St. Andrew's because I think it would be a belter if it was. I'd fancy Birmingham to give it a real good go. Wolves would also go on the front foot. However, here, I think it's going to be a less frantic occasion. The Blues would definitely see a point as one gained and Wolves will probably dominate proceedings high on confidence.
Congratulations to the Wolves fans of this forum. I know you're here as both posters and lurkers. As a recognition of your achievement, I'm going to back you to win here. I think you could also do it keeping a clean sheet purely because you'll apply too much attacking pressure for Birmingham to deal with. I was going to rain on your parade slightly and back a derby draw with both teams happy to see the game out with little drama but I just think the home side are too good for the visitors and will want to celebrate with the fans by beating their rivals.

Despite Derby having a bit of an upturn I would be amazed if Wolves didn't 'finish' the job one way or another tonight. Actually expect it to be a BTTS match and a bit of a scrap so would not be surprised to see a few cards flying around (something we have been synonymous with this season). Winning this would set up a chance of guaranteed promotion at home against rivals Birmingham and potentially even wrap the title up as well. It is almost unthinkable to a Wolves fan that we won't get that opportunity so I fully expect all guns blazing tonight for the chance.

Absolutely gutted about tonight's game. My tips were denied by a stunning performance by Sam Johnstone. Can't believe we've come away from that game with nothing.
Wolves have a chance to take a step onto the verge of promotion tomorrow night. I think they should be backed for the win even at 1.61. I think Derby might start to pick up their form after their bad spell but I still think Wolves and Fulham have been the two best sides we've played this season. I'd even back Wolves to win to nil at 2.40.

I'm not going to lie, @PokerWolf1, I wasn't surprised by the result. I've considered Wolves the best team in the division all season. Yes, you've had money to spend but that never guarantees success. I'm not having fans of other teams discrediting your success because of your financial backing. I mean, Fulham have brought in players such as Mitrovic! He should never be playing in the Championship. We've spent £6 million on a single player. It's all fair game.
Our game tomorrow is huge but I think no matter what happens we will still give it our all for the remaining games. If we do that and we still don't make it then I can handle that. What I couldn't stomach was the bottle jobs under the Dave Jones era where players were going out down Cardiff Bay the night before a massive game with Middlesbrough and then getting hammered on the pitch costing us promotion. This current squad and Neil Warnock have really breathed new life into the club after the disappointing years under Solskjaer, Slade, and Trollope.
Still, we are a grounded team and a humble fan base. We've been at the very bottom of the league structure. We've been on the verge of financial collapse. We appreciate it all provided the players give their all. I hate betting on Cardiff but I am now required to as part of this Punters Lounge stuff (thanks @Sir Puntalot! ). I never feel comfortable backing my own team to achieve things that feel unlikely or impossible. However, I feel I would be doing an injustice to our players if I said I didn't back them to finish this job. So I am going to back them because they deserve that faith! Starting with Aston Villa tomorrow! I'll complete my analysis of the odds tonight and get a preview up tomorrow morning.
Congratulations on your imminent promotion as well!

    Cardiff vs Wolves
Undoubtedly, one of the games of the Championship season is scheduled to take place this coming Friday night at 7:45pm when 2nd placed Cardiff entertain league leaders Wolves at the Cardiff City Stadium. It's a clash of two sides that have won a lot of admirers this season.
A win for the Bluebirds would put them 8 points clear of 3rd placed Fulham with just 6 league matches remaining. Victory for the travelling team would all but secure their place in next season's Premier League. The three points would move them onto 89 points and 14 points ahead of Slavisa Jokanovic's side. As you can see, plenty of opportunity for both teams coming into this.
Of course, the draw would essentially suit both managers. A point would put further breathing space between Neil Warnock's men and their closest rivals. A single point for Nuno Espirito Santo's team would keep the distance between themselves and the closest rivals to their title aspirations.
The previous meeting between these two sides at Molineux saw Cardiff take all three points. It was called a clash of playing styles with the Bluebirds being berated for unsettling Wolves with a more physical approach. It can be argued that with the much smaller budget and playing against a higher quality of player, it's no surprise Cardiff adopted such a tactic. I'm confident we'll do it again this Friday. Wolves have shown they lose their cool when provoked. If any manager knows how to antagonize an opposition then it's Warnock!
A lot of our fans are optimistic but nervous about this. It's generally felt we have a stronger mentality than Wolves. They obviously have the more talented playing squad but that will count for little. It's expected to be close to a capacity attendance in excess of 33,000 so the atmosphere will be electric. Can the Wolves players handle it? My head says a draw and Wolves might possibly sneak a narrow win. My heart says we will once again do the business when it matters. This Cardiff side keeps delivering when faced with a new challenge. To avoid tempting fate, I'm going to reluctantly back Wolves to sneak a narrow win. It's going to be one to watch!

    Middlesbrough vs Wolves
The highlight of the Good Friday Championship schedule is this belter that is going to kick-off at 5:30pm. Middlesbrough are sat in 6th place and enjoying a renaissance in form under Tony Pulis. Wolves are the champions elect in 1st place after over-coming a dodgy spell.
Pressure could be a major factor here. Nuno Espirito Santo's side have a 13 point lead over 3rd placed Fulham so they will play with more freedom. Yes, they only have a 6 point lead over 2nd placed Cardiff with a game extra played but promotion is the ultimate target. Only 8 games remain so Wolves only need a handful of wins now.
However, Middlesbrough are in the thick of the play-off action. Every point is valuable between now and the end of the season. The chasing pack will be waiting on Middlesbrough to slip up with Bristol City, Preston, Sheffield United, and Millwall all still carrying play-off aspirations.
The Boro may well have a solid home record winning 11 of their 19 home games so far but they are facing a Wolves side with the best away record in the division. Middlesbrough have only conceded 14 goals in those home matches so they will be tough to break. That said, Wolves have scored 28 goals on the road so if one team can do it then they can.
I really think Wolves have overcome that bad spell and they will stroll through until the end of the season now. The play-off race is less predictable with 10 or so teams still vying for the four spots. So I expect to see those teams drop points all over the shop as the pressure takes hold. I am tempted to back a draw here but I think the freedom that Wolves will now play with might give them an edge. A narrow Wolves win perhaps? If I was pushed for a score I would say 2-1 to Wolves.

I've got to stop thinking you're a Wolves fan!
That's a great shout about Bolton. I think Paul Heckingbottom is a manager that needs time at Leeds. I don't think he'll get it which is a shame because he'd be a very good manager for them if the board were patient. He's still not quite got them ticking and they are ripe for the taking. A streetwise performance from Bolton could steal all three points but maybe a Bolton Double Chance bet might be more realistic?
A fine point about Aston Villa too. Not only have they dropped off us in second place but they have now fallen behind Fulham too. Mentally, they must be preparing for the play-offs now. Still, if they keep losing, then even the top six isn't guaranteed. A lot of teams sniffing around behind them just outside the play-offs such as Bristol City, Preston, Sheffield United, and Millwall.
It's all become very exciting all of a sudden! I'll get another couple of previews out before the games tomorrow but a few home sides are looking decent value for the win this weekend.

Can't see anything other than a Cardiff win and think you are right with the -1. Think it's actually pretty good value.
As for Wolves they have an altogether different proposition travelling to a place that they have failed to win in in over 60 years. Middlesboro will be no easy task and to be honest I would take a draw which I have a sneaking suspicion is what it will be. But Wolves fans will love nothing more than to get one over on former West Brom manager Tony Pulis and march ever closer to what seems like the inevitable promotion. Middlesboro need the win themselves to stay in the playoffs but I have a feeling they would take the draw too. I don't expect a classic and hope I am pleasantly surprised at the end.
Elsewhere Bolton are a big price. A team in form against one woefully out of form and would be fighting relegation themselves if not for such a good start to the season.
Have Villa blown it? I certainly think so and would back Hull to beat them too as the momentum favors the home win.

I've got to admit, I thought Brentford were going to batter us after that opening 10-15 minutes. The Samba goal turned the game and in the end we really showed them the difference between being mid-table and fighting for promotion. 7 points ahead with 9 games to go is a fantastic position to be in but we have a lot of tough games left. We still have to play...
    Derby (A)
    Burton (H)
    Sheffield United (A)
    Wolves (H)
    Aston Villa (A)
    Norwich (A)
    Nottingham Forest (H)
    Hull (A)
    Reading (H)
I said to my mate that we probably need 4-5 wins maximum now to confirm promotion. Can we get them from those games? It's a tough run-in but I'd be very disappointed if we don't beat Burton, Forest, and Reading then take something at Sheffield United and Hull. I also fancy us to get something against either Wolves or Villa. A long way to go yet though.

    Brentford vs Cardiff
@PokerWolf1, you said it mate. There is value all over the shop this week in the Championship. My focus today is on our game against Brentford. It's the match that was scheduled to take place when the big snow hit and Griffin Park was deemed unplayable. It's not a very convenient game given our injury list but we'll crack on and look to take another 3 points closer to automatic promotion.
I have been expressing concern lately about the injuries hitting our squad and how every game I fear it might be the one where we finally fold under the intensity of the Championship schedule. However, Neil Warnock keeps on pleasantly surprising me by putting out a side that is grinding out the wins. You'd think I would have more faith by now.
Unfortunately, I once again come into this game slightly pessimistic. Brentford are one of the most attractive teams in our division in terms of their style of play. Dean Smith has got them playing some lovely stuff. Luckily, those are the sort of teams we rile. We beat them 2-0 at home back in November. They did have 25 shots but that summed up how wasteful they were.
The Bluebirds remain 4 points clear of Aston Villa as we sit in 2nd place. Villa and Fulham are still winning their games but so are we. It's a pressure cooker situation but I'd much rather have them nipping at our heels than nipping the heels ourselves. How much longer can those two sides keep going when every time they win they don't gain ground on the team in that second automatic promotion spot? Our motivation is to keep the situation in our hands and I have no doubt that is what Warnock is using to pump our players up.
The Bees have only lost two games at home so this is one of the trickier away ties. They have drawn 8 of their 17 league games at Griffin Park though so points can be taken. Unfortunately, our away record isn't fantastic. We might be 2nd in the league but our away record is only the 6th best in the table with 5 defeats coming on the road.
Brentford will still feel they can gate crash the play-offs. They are currently sat in 11th place and 8 points off the top six but that gap could be cut to 5 points tonight with just 9 matches remaining. It's do or die for them. Hopefully, that will play into our hands.
We are set to welcome back Sean Morrison and Gary Madine tonight which is key. Callum Paterson also appears to have recovered from his recent knock. Brentford will be without the influential Andreas Bjelland but they can still call on the impressive Chris Mepham who earned his first call up to the Wales national team this week.
Interestingly, Brentford have not managed to keep a clean sheet against us in 14 meetings. You have to go back to our match on 28th December, 1998 to find the last time we failed to score against them. I don't think that will change tonight. They will be too attacking.
Can we take all three points tonight? I genuinely do think it's a tall order. Brentford are a side that can beat anyone on their day. My hope is that we can choke the life out of them tonight and just physically dominate them. If we can do that then I can see us taking something from the game. On the contrary, if we turn up and only play for 60 minutes like we did against Birmingham then we will get beaten. Either way, I think this could be a treat for Sky Sports viewers tonight. Forget the Champions League tonight. Get this game on your TV!

Not sure how Ipswich can be a higher price at home to Hull than Birmingham at home to Hull.... or indeed Middlesboro shorter odds to beat Brentford away than Cardiff. Looks like there is some value this week for those willing to do their  research.

Well who would of thought 6 weeks ago that Wolves would be looking at this potential mess. All the contenders win and trips to Villa and Cardiff on the horizon. Wolves simply must beat Leeds. And I think they will.
A few times this season we have bounced back from a disappointing mini run and a Leeds side in turmoil seems like a good place to do that again before the weekends titanic clash. I watched Leeds vs Boro last week and Leeds simply offered nothing that Wolves should be scared of. Defensively they were a shambles and given the extra break and chance we've had to prepare for this match I would be amazed (and worried) at anything over than a Wolves win. We were stupid in the final minute against Norwich, we were then rubbish at Fulham, but a lot of teams could say that at the moment. Wolves should be too strong here.

    Fulham vs Wolves
Without a shadow of a doubt, the most exciting game this weekend (except for the obvious Severnside Derby coming up on Sunday! ) is this match at Craven Cottage between 5th placed Fulham and league leaders Wolves. Two of the most impressive sides in the division this season going head-to-head.
Personally, I'm a big fan of Slavisa Jokanovic. I thought he was an excellent appointment by the Cottagers and even through their below par spell I was fully expectant of him dragging them back up to the high standards he demands. Nuno Espirito Santo has seen his side drop 4 points in their last two games. The panic button has not been pressed yet but if results go against them this weekend then their lead at the top could be cut to just 6 points by Sunday evening.
Fulham have taken 24 points from their last 10 league games. If they had enjoyed a better start to the season then they might even be rivalling Wolves for top spot. They have also not conceded at home for more than 300 minutes of league football. Their opponents have also averaged just 0.69 goals per game away from home.
I'm going to take a big punt here and back the low-scoring draw. I can only see a single goal nicking it either way if there is to be a winner. I just think both teams would take a draw here. Wolves know if they can win their home matches and take any points in their away games then they will go up as champions. Fulham know that any points taken off Wolves this season are points certainly gained more than expected.

Tricky week. I'm expecting Cardiff to just do enough and grab that win but I think Wolves, Villa and Bristol could all potentially slip up.
Not really any straight forward matches. Think there is some value in that Ipswich price away at an inconsistent Norwich but every game pretty tough to call. I think Sunderland will probably lose again but would want a bigger price for Brentford.

I agree about Ipswich. Norwich are much too short, no doubt about that.

Norwich have had an inconsistent season, with the better performances all coming away from home. At home, Farke’s style has not suited the team at all. Slow, pedestrian play which is easy to defend against and counter attack.

Imo, Norwich’s style of play at home will play right into Ipswich’s hands. When Ipswich are able to play this game (sitting back, soaking up pressure and counter) they have been successful. When they are playing against teams at home like Burton (no offence) like last week, with the onus on them, they have struggled.

Although James Maddison has received all the plaudits this season, Tom Trybull has been arguably Norwich’s most important midfielder this season. He arrived on a free transfer from Holland and has been nothing short of a revelation. However Norwich received news this week that he is out for the season, which is a huge blow for Norwich and a massive lift for Ipswich going into this game.

I personally will be leaving this game alone but imo Norwich are far too short and are worth a lay/DNB punt in Ipswich with the game situation set to suit their play.

    Wolves vs Sheffield United
Every time it looks like Wolves might start to hit a rough patch they steady the ship to retain their distance between themselves and the chasing pack. It's an impressive trait of a side that was arguably the strongest squad in the Championship before transfer deadline day but now appear to be years ahead of the rest of us after their transfer window signings. The signing of former player Benik Afobe is certain to help deal with the issue of goals going slightly dry since the festive period.
The home side remain top of the Championship 11 points clear of 2nd placed Derby. Nuno Espirito Santo's side have won 10 of their 14 league games at Molineux. It's a huge testament to their attacking strength that in those 14 matches they have scored 28 goals averaging 2 goals per home game.
Sheffield United look to have overcome their difficult patch. Having started the season well they have dropped to 7th in the table but remain just 2 points off the play-offs having lost only 1 of their last 4 league games. Unfortunately, their away record isn't the best and they have only won 6 of their 14 away games.
For me, this has a Wolves win written all over it. They are the champions elect and their recent transfer dealings have only strengthened an already high quality side. The Blades are not the side they were at the start of the season. They will give it a good go here but quality will prevail.

    Millwall vs Derby
If one team is causing a stir in the Championship right now then it's Derby. Gary Rowett has really got his side playing at the moment. The Rams are 2nd in the table and 2 points clear of 3rd placed Cardiff. It is a run of results that has seen them keep 9 clean sheets in their past 12 league matches. This is proof that a solid defence has been at the heart of Derby's rise up the table over the past few months.
Millwall came into this season tipped for relegation but Neil Harris has surpassed expectations by guiding them to 15th place. They come into this game as favourites due to their strong home record with just 3 defeats in 14 home matches. However, they are playing a Derby side that has the second best away record in the division with just 2 losses on the road.
The Championship is a tough division to bet on. Just when you think you've nailed a team's form, suddenly they will balls it all up and leave you reeling. I just feel Derby are the real deal this season. As a Cardiff fan, they are the one side I'm really worried could break away with Wolves to take the two automatic promotion spaces. I can see them grinding out a win here. It might even be 1-0 but I feel they are more likely to take the win than Millwall. Interestingly, Derby striker Vydra has scored in each of his previous three games against the Lions. Could be worth an outside punt?
