  1. Re: Stobart Super League XVII Round 12 - 20-22 April Looks like my lucks out on Liam Hood, Shaun Lunt is in on loan at hooker for Leeds, meaning Hood will drop back further into the squad, I'll keep my eye's open for his return as I'm 100% sure he'll get my the last try at some point. I'm not sure that Leeds are as clear cut for this as the bookies think, a few go +6 @ evs for Catalan which is quite tempting, sure they have a few players out but that's been happening most of the season, they didn't go back to France after the cup game so should feel the benefit of that. I'm going for Daryl Millard to score tonight, he's gone over 5 times already this season, can play anywhere in the back 5 (mainly at centre) big, strong and always a threat to the line. Daryl Millard to score anytime 2/1 @ Skybet

  2. Ufc 145 on Saturday night is the most anticipated event ever, Champion Jon Jones and former champion Rashad Evans have been at each others throats seemingly forever. Former mates or not they now both want to prove themselves to be the better man, the reward (apart from bragging rights) is the Light Heavyweight belt and title of champion. Evans is the outsider against the seemingly unbeatable Jones but he may pose a few problems for the champ, he's quick on his toes, quick with his punches and should be able to hold his own in the wrestling dept, I'd like to say he has pure KO power but he hasn't KO'D anyone since 2008 (I think his TKO win v Tito was due to a knee to the stomach), if he can get in and out passing Jones huge reach advantage and take him deep into the fight he may well have a chance. In the only other match that I think there's some value Michael McDonald can take out Miguel Torres. Torres is one of my fave fighters, a long time champ in the WEC and a record of 40-4, but since getting KO'D by Brian Bowles hasn't been the same fighter, not sure why maybe he's decided not to get KO'D again and has fought more cautiously since. Michael McDondald is up and coming and has the power to KO Torres, he'll be agressive from the off and I'm not sure Torres reach will help him against the attack of McDonald. Rashad Evans to win 15/4 @ Stan James Michael McDonald to win by KO/TKO 4/1 @ Paddy Power

  3. Re: Stobart Super League XVII Round 8 - 23-25 Mar Really looking forward to tonight's match. Wigan battled back well last week to beat the Broncos and Warrington had a real battle to hold off a very determined Wakefield. Both teams appear to be at full strength which is a bonus after 2 hard games. Sticking with Trent Waterhouse to score, he was held up over the line at Leeds and would've scored last week if Ritchie Mathers hadn't taken the ball out of his hands. As I fancy there will be a few tries tonight I'm going with Thomas Leuluai as well, over the last 6 season's he's averaged a try every 3/4 games and with only 1 in his last 6 I feel he's due to go over, went very close against London. Trent Waterhouse anytime tryscorer 9/2 @ Ladbrokes Thomas Leuluai anytime tryscorer 3/1 @ Ladbrokes

  4. Re: Stobart Super League XVII Round 6 - 9-11 Mar

Doh video refs & great tackling behind the try line, unlucky with Waterhouse Ronnie but great pick with Hood, TBH I didn't think he would get on as the game was so tight! Did you do your usual anytime tryscorer with Watkins as he did it again? AHughes thought it was a brave bet but well done. Going to try my luck on HKR tonight at -6 4/6 stan james. Good luck
Cheers wacker, didn't do Watkins this time, tend to go for prices evs or better.
  5. Re: Stobart Super League XVII Round 6 - 9-11 Mar Really looking forward to the Leeds Warrington match tonight, the bookies can't split them and neither can I, both teams have tight defences and score well. Going to take a couple to score tonight, don't normally but with the price offered for Trent Waterhouse I couldn't resist, he's scored twice away from home and was a huge threat against Bradford last week, big, strong and hard to stop. Also taking Liam Hood at a very good price, he's going to make his home debut tonight and will want to impress. Big things are being made of this kid, he's very quick, a former schoolboys 100 mt sprint champion and playing at hooker is ideal to exploit teams later in the game like he did against Castleford last week. I think if he does score it will be in the last 15 mins. Trent Waterhouse anytime tryscorer 7/2 @ Ladbrokes Liam Hood anytime tryscorer 7/2 @ Ladbrokes

  6. Re: Stobart Super League XVII Round 5 - 2-4 Mar I'm hoping Bradford can build on their last win against Wakefield and give Warrington a good run tonight (and not just collapse), I don't think they can win but I do think they will score. I'm going with Brett Kearney to cross the whitewash, he's scored 4 in his last 3 matches and always finds himself in good positions. Brett Kearney anytime scorer 6/4 @ Skybet

  7. Re: Stobart Super League XVII Round 5 - 2-4 Mar Kallum Watkins is in fine scoring form this season with 5 tries in 3 matches, he also scored in all 3 meetings against Castleford last season. The weather has been great up here the last few days so hopefully the pitch will be in great condition allowing some attacking rugby. Kallum Watkins anytime tryscorer Evs @ Skybet

  8. Re: Stobart Super League XVII Round 2 & NR Cup 10-12 Feb Must say Kev that's a better price than I thought Watkins would be (must be the away factor), and I did have him in mind following his hat trick last week. I decided to go with Brent Webb instead though, he also scored last week and is always an attacking threat, scored at the DW stadium last year and as Kev say's Wigan defence is hit, Carmont is a player I like and they'll miss him a lot in defence and going forward. Brent Webb anytime try scorer 15/8 @ Skybet

  9. Re: Stobart Super League XVII Round 2 & NR Cup 10-12 Feb Sticking with my anytime scorer bet and backing James Roby to go over, he had a huge game last weekend picking up a try and making plenty of breaks from dummy half. Salford will be missing Wayne Godwin who'll be a great loss to Salfords play around the ruck. If Roby exploits the gaps like last week he'll go over and the -24 won't be a huge ask of Saints. Can't resist the price on offer for him to go over first. Will be keeping my eye on Joel Moon who I tipped last week, he will go in a few times this season but maybe not today. James Roby anytime try scorer 13/8 @Skybet James Roby first try scorer 20/1 @Ladbrokes

  10. Re: NFL: SUPERBOWL 2012 Not an expert on American football by a long way, have been following more and more the last few years, took New York @ 18's (wish I'd got dan's 66's), Nicks has gone in 1st for a Td twice out his last 3 games at decent prices too, backed him to go in 1st again. Hakeem Nicks 1st Td scorer 15/2 @ Paddy Power (refunded if a Td is scored in the last 2 minutes)

  11. Ufc 143 in Las Vegas has some cracking fights on the card, Nick Diaz and Carlos Condit battle for the interim welterweight title in what could be fight of the night. I'm in too many minds over this one, I think Diaz will jab/box his way to a points decision but Condit can Ko people and Diaz does leave himself open a lot, maybe small stakes on both may be the way to go. Roy Nelson is up against Fabricio Werdum in a battle of 2 BJJ standouts (had the pleasure of meeting Werdum at the ADCC in Nottingham last year), I'm hoping it's a better fight than when he fought Overeem, he may want to prove a point after that one. He has good muay thai and good striking, Nelson may struggle with Werdums 5 inch reach advantage and he's a very hard man to put away (Overeem never had him in trouble), and Nelson is tough to finish standing (JDS Couldn't do it) and unless Nelson connects like he did against Sturve it's going to be long night for him. Would love to see Werdum submit him but that would be very hard against someone as good as Nelson on the ground. Going down the points road on this one for Werdum. Josh Koscheck is back against Mike Pierce, 2 fighters with a wrestling background with Koscheck having the slight advantage there but Pierce has a good ground game and is very durable, he won't mind being on the ground with Koscheck, his gnp is very good and that's what he'll want to ustilise. I know Pierce is the outsider here but think he can cause an upset. Nick Diaz to win on points 11/4 @ Skybet Carlos Condit to win by Tko/Ko stoppage 9/2 @ Skybet Fabricio Werdum to on points 15/8 @ Skybet Mike Pierce to win 21/10 @ Skybet

  12. Re: Stobart Super League XVII Round 1 - 3-5 Feb Not sure on the Widnes game, as you say they have a lot of new players as do Wakefield, they signed 13 and all are named in tonight's squad so they too could have trouble gelling. I'm going for an anytime tryscorer bet to give me some interest, taking Widnes new signing Patrick Ah Van, he breaks plenty of tackles and he scored 2 tries for Bradford against Wakefield last year. Patrick Ah Van to score anytime 5/4 @ Skybet
