  1. Re: Probability theory question

Accept I didn't answer the question - but was trying to read between the lines a little' date=' and think you may be asking the wrong question for the wrong reasons :unsure[/quote'] I am trying to work out if A6 is the minimum Ace I would shove given the scenario I discussed, hence my question - and how often my Ace will be outkicked why would villian also have the same chance of 3/50 (3/49), surely it should be 2/50 (2/49) as I already have an ace? This is the bit where probabaility gets the better of me, does me holding an Ace make no difference to villians chance of holding the same?:unsure Thanks Damo
  2. I don't understand the call at the end with no hand? and it was a deliberate call, it happened 2-3 secs after the action got to him, not him hitting the check tick box as the other guy was hitting the AI button? 3. Re: PokerKings February League

Am I correct thinking every score counts' date=' not best of x ? :unsure It just seems an awfully big time commitment with it running every day.[/quote'] Looking back at previous months you can guess how many points you need to get the extra cash - so if you play twice a week and get top ten you will (probably) cash at the end of the month Damo Poker League results for January 2008

  4. Re: Probability theory question correct! I am purely interested in this: all hands folded to me in XX postion I have A6 - I have no room to manuever with a normal raise due to my stack vs the blinds so its shove or fold - what is the probabaility that I will run into one of the remaining players holding Ax (bigger than 6) if I shove. I am not interested in any other holdings except Ax I picked A6 as it is an ok hand, but not a great hand for shoving (compared to A10+ where your second card might be good enough to win the pot for you) and how much position makes a difference (if much at all?) - so am trying to figure out whether I should be shoving with it (does that make sense?) Cheers Damo

I thought he was just asking how likely it is a player in SB/BB has a better ace? Nothing to do with shoving or where he's ahead.:unsure If I'm too tired to read the question right I'm not going to get the calculator out:lol:lol
  5. need help with this. 10 seater stt blinds are substantial to stacks (say 100/200) so its shove or fold with 1500 chips and there are 6 players left you are in the CO and have A6, what is the chance of the button SB or BB having a bigger Ace? you are on the button same question for SB & BB you are in the SB, same question for the BB if there were only 5 players left does it make a substantial difference to the probability? (and if so how much of a difference 4 handed on the bubble?) I have no idea how to work this out, I can play around in pokerstove but that just matches hand vs hand (range) which is not quite the same thing? (or is it?:$) any help most appreciated:ok Cheers Damo

  6. Re: STT/SNG Spreadsheet - a beginners guide

Is anyone using this spreadsheet this year? If so, have they considered what to do on Feb 29th? :unsure
yes and get drunk? have a five finger shuffle? slap someone around for asking a silly question :spank;):spank;):spank;) Not winning though - my poor run from August continues on and on and on and........ Damo
  7. Re: PokerKings February League this is excellent value played it twice so far this week - 1st night came third, tonight had QQ 1st hand, flopped trips and got beat by the chap who smooth called my PF raise with AA who also hit trips on the flop..... :rollin Is this likely to be a focus game at some point? not many runners (30 tonight) with a reasonable buy in and a chance to win cash on the night and cash at the end of the month? Think if we made a concerted effort we could give the germans a good kicking as they are running away with the leaderboard at the mo ;) Cheers Damo

  10. Re: Lack of Online 'Rights'

I've seen plenty of occasions esp near the bubble where we have disconnected players, it's not spoken but we all agree to blind them out. Don't really have a prob with it. Dog eat dog business poker
exactly!! I did the stupid thing once in an STT I got into the HU situation and the other guy lost connection, so I slowplayed my hands letting the timer count down before raising, any way he had less than 2 BB left when he got back and he beat me :eyes just because I was being 'British' and fair play and all that bollocks...... so now I switch off show hand option and minraise every hand to get as many (all) of their chips as quickly as possible. It is even better if you are 3 handed and you have the big stack (say 5K to 3K to 2K with blinds are 150/300 200/400) all you do is shove every hands and if the other active player thinks about it, he can't call, he has to fold, he risks too much by calling your shove (of course if he shoves first then its more of a judgement decision to whether you call). There is no room for sentiment in poker, most of the 'cheating' with sit outs is understood by people who have played for a decent length of time and does not need to be discussed. Damian
  11. Re: Hornet's Strategy Questions. Part 6 Some interesting comments The power of AK is in HU play so with only 14BB or so left you don't want the two microstacks calling you as this reduces your chances of winning and you would prefer to win the whole of the 7K rather than about 4K in a side pot (of course if you had 60K you wouldn't mind so much if a shortie won the main pot and you won 4K in the side as you have a chance to knock 2 players out without them damaging your stack) The suited AK makes you about 2% better than AK off suit, it is pretty irrelevant AI preflop as to the flush draw but does give you options to shove of the flop with a draw and may make a 'lesser' hand (though currently winning) fold. Villians raising range: he has about 11BB left so any 'normal' raise of 3BB means he is pot committed to an over shove, there should be no way he should fold his hand after committing so many chips (unless it goes shove call call call call call - in which case I would gladly let my hand go) He is shoving any 2 reasonable cards but I agree it would be less likely to be AA as he wants a call. So if we discount AA you are at worst a 70/30 dog if he has KK, against any other PP you are roughly a 55/45 dog against any other holding you are a favourite (as much as a 70/30 if you hold a common card) there are more non KK hands than anything else so you are probably not far from a 'coin flip' (I don't like that word but the meaning will do) Position: you on the button, can you fold and shove next hand to pick up the blinds? are you aggressive enough to play Q10 from the CO? if so then there might be an argument for folding as you are using your fold equity to bully others, if you don't feel comfortable shoving Q10 next hand then you must call now when you are in a better position to double up rather than wait and hope for AA-QQ before you get blinded away. Do you need to cash? does limping ITM make a difference to you? if you are happy to finish 5oth and cash then fold and pick a better spot/better hand. If you want a chance at winning more then call as you are probably not going to get a better chance in the next couple of orbits to get a chip stack that will see you into the cash and give you a chance to move up the ladder. I would insta call here, what would make it more interesting is whether the cards were AQ AJ or A10, these are the hands that make the choices more difficult. Cheers Damian

  12. Re: Poker players who love football? This is value despite it being a rebuy - 15 mins left to reg and only 47 entered:ok With a guarenteed prize pool of $1K (plus some scabby tickets and merchandise......:tongue2) 2K stack 12 min blinds, just take it easy and wait for something decent PF. Look forward to seeing a few PL'er's on the FT :ok Damo

  13. Re: Poker players who love football? This is looking good for tonight Any of you lot Villa/Toon fans who might want to attend ??just asking in case I get the tickets! doubt I will be able to attend, so am sure we can sort something with Mark at 32red and get them passed on. Cheers Damo

  14. Re: Push or Not? if he is constantly raising I would shove you only fear 2 hands Damo

Early stages of a heads up sng, against an a player who likes raising. Should I have just called the re-raise and got away from the flop or would you have pushed?
  15. Re: Pop Quiz (Part XXXVII) Thanks for the responses - much appreciated. Am wondering if the reads we have should effect our play so much when we are crippled like this? or whether we should just call and gamble? If I had 800 chips it seems an easier fold as I have a little FE if I shove as I have 500 more chips than the BB but with only 110 chips or so more than the BB I have no FE at all. :unsure Damo

  16. Re: Aussie Millions - Runadrum out in 19th for AUD $65,000 What a fantastic result Duncan. All of us here are really proud of you and are chuffed that you made it so deep into the tourny.
