Sure it's important with some financial stability, FGR have that. But also a manager who we don't rate highly. FGR also have a quite young side and their style of play leaves them very vulnerable against certain types of opposition. Surely a top 5-6 side but I think they will underachieve again ...
More important than money in this league, or as important .

The new season is quickly approaching, just a few weeks away. What are your thoughts?
Here's my 50 p on a few teams ..
Forest Green Rovers:
Bookies favourite to gain direct promotion. Financially well off, excellent training facilities and equipment. Decent signings this year, with Matt Tubbs being a key-signing together with Darren Carter. They have widened their pitch with a meter ahead of this season as they wants to make the opposition run. Likes to control the game, possessions type of style. Likes to put pressure high up in the pitch. New drainage, and a new groundsman. Has a various setup of strikers this year, different kind of players. Ambitious club but I put sa question-mark down for the manager, sure it's important to have the financials, but it as well important with a good manager who knows the division well. Forest Green clearly a top-side this year but we think this rather young side will underachieve again. Their type of style leaves them very vulnerable against certain teams.
Dover Athletic:
Name a team this season who have lost more important players? Payne & Deverdics stood for almost everything offensively last year. Payne with some 23 goals and 10+ assist. Deverdics with 14 goals and close to 20 assists. Massive losses for Dover who looks very unlikely to match the record finish for last season.
Gateshead:
Almost an entire new team with some 13 new signings this season. A completely overhauled squad. Have had a decent pre-season. Very good attacking line in Bowman & Johnson who stood for close to 30 goals last season. Good new recruit in Brundle, a two footed versatile player with a good attitude. Professional club with a good set-up. Will take time to get all new faces together but could surprise a few this season ...
Guisely FC:
Managed to avoid relegation last season by 1 point. Created some chances during the season but were lacking a clinical goalscorer. The club has intentionally reduced the average age in the squad this season and improved their fitness levels. Will they improve the issue with defending set pieces this season? Part timers who I think will act more wise this year and the experience they gained from last season could come in useful this season. They will have a tough start to the season as they play many predicted top sides directly in the first few rounds. Look out for MF Vidal, a crowdpleaser with pace and a good ball winnings ability ... Lost key GK Drench ...
Degenham & Redbridge:
Watch out for relegated Degenham & Redbridge! in my eyes probably the best manager in the league, who have great experience from this division. A 650k parachute won't hurt them either. Smart signings, players who knows the level. Key-player, Guttridge, intelligent player with a great passing eye. Defensively they were weak last season, hopefully this is something they have adjusted for this season. Direct promotion contender?

They signed the leading scorer in Austria, and he may not be as good as Alan, but then how decent can Alan actually be if he's going to China? Kampl seems a good player but otherwise I'm not sure how much weaker they are. Salzburg are having a good season and I'm not sure if it'll completely collapse because they've lost a couple of players? We'll see. Now they play away with a weaker squad to a team who have won 8/11 matches at home in Primera Division (loses coming to Barca, Real, Valencia) Very solid homewin. Derby? Not quite. This is the best draw you will ever see. Even better than the normal "X" in the end of season in Serie B, Italy. My house on it, with my mother inside. Taking into account the problems at both teams, City could have chances for the three points. Nevertheless, I think that Mourinho knows the way to leave victorious from such type of matches. -

Few thoughts from me on League 2 so far, Accrington: Look's quite thin at the moment, could do with a few new players. Lost important Webber ahead of this season. Financially not stable and should be looking at a tough season, goal must to be so save their League 2 status! AFC Wimbledon: Attacking wise well equiped, Tubbs, Akinfenwa! H.Pell key-player in midfield. Strong signings, maybe lacking a centreback? Lost Frampton to injury! Minus. Burton: Excellent start to the new season. Make or break season. Great signings,playmaker Mousinho. Good manager in Rowett! Defensively very well organized, needs to play with more aggression! Bury: Should be a topside, even they maybe lack some depth at the moment. Nardiello always dangerous! Surely play-off side? Cambridge: Back in football league after 9 years, have had a few loans from CP, lost key player Berry. Needs to perform and get some results especially at home. Kept most of the squad from last season. Plenty of pace in the team. Quite inexperienced squad. Might lack backbone? Should have a tough season! Carlise: Plenty of players in and out ahead of this season, will take time to get everything together. Some good signings. Paynter great offensively! Lacking creative players? Could be a surprise package if they get everything together. Cheltenham: Big let down last season. Better charachters in the squad now. Bad blood out! Solid signings, but not spectacular in my eyes. Lost keeer Brown, big blow even though Carson is a decent replacement. Feel good feeling has returned to the club. Bit thin squad? Lacks attacking potency? Dagenham: Good midfield signings, creative players in the squad. More pace than spark going forward! Look's weak physically? Could struggle in set pieces play? Financially not stable. Should be safe midtable? Exeter: Thin squad, lost key players. Have to llok into the loan market and their good academy. Transfer embargo. Loads of pressure on 18 yo Grimes. Tumultous pre-season! Could go down! Hartlepool: Nothing extra in the signings. Some good players left, squad looks weakened. Defensively ok, keyplayers Bates, Parnaby and James who has some great airial presence. Needs to get the attacking players performing other wise looking at a tough season! Luton: Back after several years in the Conference. Lost Gray, tough! However good offensively. Great support from the fans! Could be a PO side end of season? Mansfield: Kept key player Clucas. Continious with their direct approach on the field. Tough side to play against, physical! ? on the gk position. Plenty of injuries at the moment. Morecambe always underrated, better depth this season? Could surprise on a good day against any team! Newport talanted squad, quite decent signings! Better offensively than defensively? Northampton high expectations, best coach in the division? Great signings! PO surely? Oxford tough pre-season, lacking depth, loads of youngsters. Instability? Plymouth with good signings, defensively sound with Hartley, Mellor, Mchugh should make PO? Portsmouth big expectations. Again. Better prepared this season. D.Hollands key player. Got rid of some dead wood. Great midfield on paper. Defence lacks pace? Inexprienced manager. Shrewsbury spending quite a few £ some key players left, good signings in Lawrence, Collins, Vernon. PO side? Southend added some attacking power this season. Some ? in centre defence. Again, just like last season. Stevenage relegated side who looks quite good. Experienced signings. Great confidence, Zola key! Tranmere relegated, chance to re-build? Key players left. First time in League 2 for 25 years. New coach and staff. Tight budget! Insecure? Unpredictable? Needs to start playing as a team. Defending set pieces not good. Not a "big/tall side" which might explain their problems at set pieces! Could really struggle against some "bigger" sides this season. Wycome great escape last season. Decent squad on paper. Needs to perform better at home. High earners left club, looks quite light offensively? had 26-27 players in the squad last season ~ 21 now. Should be better in set pieces this season with some "hight" in defence this season. Tough season! York fantastic manager. Lost key players defensively. Tough side to play. Rough and ready approach. Looking weak on the flanks. Needs to retain possession better. Always looks dangerous on offensive set pieces! Defensively great last season, how will they manage the turnover in defence for this season? Swindon, plenty of young lads. Especially defensively where they have a lot of work to do! Mvh Boggen

Few thougts from me on the first couple of rounds, I mentioned before the first round that there would be good value this season to go against Bristol Rovers (especially on the road), and they followed up on their 0-0 draw in the first round at home to Grimsby with a loss away to Barnet, a Barnet who have had a great start to the new season with a couple of great performances! Macclesfield, showing some decent performances. Looking quite dangerous on the counter attacks. Look's better defensively this season than the previous season, although it's only been a few rounds. But some encouraging performances so far from Macclesfield! Halifax, started with 2 straight wins. Looks very well organized defensively, sureley be a strong home team this season. Again. I'm well impressed by Roberts, could cause some serious airial damage to some "short" teams this season! They have to stop giving away free kicks around their own box which is one of the few minuses I've seen so far. Kidderminster, wow. Must say I'm quite impressed so far. Some turmoil in pre-season but the first couple of matches have looked quite ok. Well organized, players like Blissett, Dunkley has impressed on me! Nuneaton, started quite weak, as I mentioned before the season, who will score the goals? Don't create that many chances either. Clearly better defensively even though I think it have looked quite static at times. Gateshead, another team that has impressed in the beginning of the season. J.Oster key-player, keeps possession very well. Good pressing side. Good on the ball. Great GK in Bartlett. Team to watch? Chester, aweful start to the new season. They had initially prepared for a lower division and they look's like they are already there!? Great signings in Roberts and Iwelumo, but will it be enough? Grimsby, have had quite a few players missing the first rounds. Have to improve their set pieces! Better defensively than offensively? Telford, some unproffessional behaviour from a few lads, this must change! Phenix, a dangerous player! Will be a tough season! Altrincham, have had difficulties offensively, weak set pieces defensively! Needs to be more clinical infront of goal and better concentration at defensive set pieces! Braintree, I think they have looked quite ok. Sparks has been great, they always looks dangerus on set pieces! Hard to beat, could they surprise again this season? Dartford, strong physical side. Lacks a few bits and pieces technically. Woking, best attack in the division, Rendell, Morgan? Watch out! Even better team when Betsy comes back in a few months! To me it is more about the fans perception. Having gone to watch Luton's 2nd ever game in the division it was clear the fans felt they were too good for the division. Now obviously the FA were a big part of why they were in the division, but the fans attitude to the league was rather disrespectful in my view and I don't think it helped the team. It will be interesting to see how Rovers' fans treat the league although against Grimsby that won't come into play. Given where the manager has come and a fair few of the players they are more than used to this standard.[/quote'] Sure, opening game at home in front of the cameras should give them motivation. Will they find the same motivation on a dark, cold November afternoon at Park View Road? Not quite the same facilities in Conference as they are used to, I think this will prove to be a mentally tough aspect for Bristol Rovers. Also Bristol Rovers are the team to beat this season, all other teams will have extra motivation against them! Personally I see plenty of value beforehand to go against them, especially on the road! -

They have lost some 31 goals from last season with obviously Gregory being a major loss. S.Boden is not as good but however is a decent replacement in my eyes. Dover had a good pre-season, I don't think they will be so easy to score against. Big/ strong defenders. Newcomers often get some results in the early stages? Grimsby missing a few players due to injuries, and suspensions, surely Bristol Rovers would like to get of to a good start here at home. Heavy favorites to win this division, can they handle the pressure and the mental aspect of the game being down in the not so glamorous Conference? Nuneaton, shocking thin squad at the moment. Sure, starting 11 not that bad. But behind that? I think they look quite strong especially in the center lines. But who will score the goals? Needs to look into the loan market .. Eastleigh, do they have the necessary physical presence? Big spenders with heavy expectations on them! Great attacking line! Wrexham clearly better than last season, even though they would probably need another central defender and quite possibly a backup gk. Traveling now without a couple of key-players to a tricky Dartford side.

Clearly you missed when the manager said their wage budget was tiny and he was struggle to sign the players he wanted because the budget wasn't enough. After that paper interview appeared online they cut by BV into favourites to finish in the bottom 4. Had they still been the original price (think it was 5/2) I would have been backing them to go down because they clearly have little money and a weak looking squad. I don't bet on League 1 or 2 so I won't match you there. Also I have no idea how well or otherwise I will do this season just like you don't. A couple of seasons ago reading the Conference Prem was pretty hard as there were some really baffling results. Last season was much better' date=' but who knows what this season has in store? Also why don't you tell us who you think is going to win the league? I realised yesterday that in the last 4 seasons I have ended up backing the top 2 in the League at some point during the season. I really think you should start evalutating your bets in units or whatever, keeping a book. And that's something I think all serious guys should do here on PL to take the forum to the next level. Is this something you consider for the new season? Personally my target is a minimum of 120% ROI at the end of the season in the conference. Good results last season, let's hammer it this season! I think an advice to all guys out there must to be keep the stakes low until the season has settled down after a few weeks. -

Personally I have 120% ROI on my bets since December, you don't even record your stats so we wont even see how much muct the attention you paid to the sport paid of in ROI!Blimey if you think Macclesfield are more financially stable then you clearly haven't been paying much attention. Dartford, experienced manager, lost key gk Julian, even though Brown is a decent replacement. Lincoln, looking good! Good business this summer in the transfer window! Could be the surprise package?! Southport, instability last year, manager Foyle nothing extra, lost key players, squad looks thin. Woking, kept key players, Rendell will score goals! One of the youngest side's in the division, if not the youngest. Plenty of experienced players has left the team since last season and it will take time to get this young team together. They are currently placed 6th in the table with 8 points so far. FK Karlskrona pretty decent, currently placed 4th with 9 points after 5 games. Attacking side, good passing side, good movement with and without the ball. Look out for Muktar Ahmed who is a threat to any team in this division. We can see a new built young away side struggle here. Homewin for us! Piteå IF - IFK Östersund Sweden, Division 2 Norrland Saturday 10/5 15:00 (Swedish time) Prediction: Piteå IF Odds: 1,85 (1,75 now) Stake: 5/10 units Bookmaker: NordicBet Likely winner here, Piteå IF usually a solid hometeam. Currently placed 7th after 5 rounds, undefeated in the last 4. Heads to this game after a good performance in the last round despite only getting a 1-1 draw away to Härnösands FF. Piteå IF with a good, quick attacking side. Couple of weeks ago they destroyed divisions favourites Sandvikens here 4-1. IFK Östersund are newcomers in this division, a decent side who has played quite well in the beginning of the season. Currently placed 6th in the table. We think they are up for a tough game here against a Piteå IF who is more experienced, and despite a coupe of draws lately been quite impressive. We respect IFK Östersund but this is a tough game for the newcomers who we predict will come under pressure here from the quick, attacking home side.
