  1. Nice one, Darran - that's over a 16pt profit by my calculations - Leiston came good for me, so I'm also ahead this calendar year!
  2. Their current ground is only temporary as there's a Compulsory Purchase Order that kicks in in 2 or 3 years. Some new ring-road or motorway - they are going to need a new stadium, but there's plenty of groundshare options nearby if immediate funding isn't available. Not heard anything concrete about new investment - it's gangster country so anything is possible. Happy New Year
  3. I was speaking to one of their (Billericay) ex-players on Saturday and there is trouble afoot. Players have gone unpaid and the HMRC are looking into Tamplin's 'fortune' and how it was acquired. They could go 'pop' at any time (I'm actually surprised the show has gone on so long). That aside, Leiston away against Lowestoft looks good for me tomorrow. Lowestoft do not have a lot of goals in them and club captain Jarvis is out after an injury on Saturday. Leiston have Blake and Jarvis leading the line and should score more than they'll concede. 5/4 with BetPeso and a free bet to £50
  4. Not Darran...but I watched Wingate/Hornchurch on Tuesday. A draw was fair as both sides had chances to win the match. Enfield look the bet tomorrow to beat the Urns - I'm on Worthing as a solid single away to Harlow - the down side is I don't think they've ever beaten them in a competitive match. Not seen enough as yet - Wingate missing 3 key players and may be worth opposing in their forthcoming matches.
  5. I really like the look of Leiston away to Thurrock at 11/10. Both have won their last 4 matches, but in Thurrock's case they've been against teams at the foot of the table. Leiston have also strengthened their squad in recent weeks with the capture of Jake Reed from Lowestoft and are live contenders for the play-off's. They are playing well at the moment and won their Suffolk Cup match on Tuesday against Kirkley in a canter. I think there's value in the price.
  6. I managed to get on Burgess Hill at 16/5 with Chandler and I've also backed them in the HT/FT market - if it was any other team in the league then it would be a mortgage job...but it's Burgess Hill. Having only missed one away fixture this season (ironically their 0-5 win at Burgess Hill) the loss of 4 of their key players recently really has been a huge body blow, as they don't look like scoring a goal from open play.
  7. Re Lowestoft. They only had a squad of 15 players prior to the announcement and they have lost 2 over the last few days. Their bench is/was rarely full and it looks as though the 16 year old academy players will be drafted in to make up the numbers. All the players have been told that they are free to find other clubs and I don't expect the departure of Reed and Cole to be the last movements before the trip to Enfield at the weekend. There's every likelihood that they could fold before the end of the season.
  8. Well done, Darren for opposing Maidstone. That was a brave call as I've seen them several times this season and they're a team I'd rather have on my side than oppose. 10/10 for that call. I happened to back Wealdstone today (calling a winner after the result isn't good form - I know) but the price was too big and I'm hearing that Billericay could implode...and soon! A good match at Hendon today and Lowestoft look like a side that can be backed at big prices in the weeks ahead. Onwards and upwards.
  9. I'm with Darran re Enfield who are tough nuts to crack at the QE Stadium (and in my defence, the Leiston goalkeeper Marcus Garnham was MotM when they played them last week) - a word of caution, though. The pitch isn't in great condition and there's currently standing water in a couple of places. With temperatures dropping below freezing tonight it may need an inspection early tomorrow morning. Tooting vs Thurrock is a match that appeals. I saw T&M in their last home match and they were truly awful. In fact, in the dozen or so years I've been following the Ithsmian league, they we
  10. There's one match in the Ithsmian on Tuesday night that I've had a play on: Leiston vs Enfield Town I know both these sides well as the bulk of the Leiston side are made up of ex-Lowestoft lads and Enfield are my local club and I'm friendly with a couple of their owners (I'm sponsoring the weekend match up at Lowestoft when they host Enfield). Leiston are on a wretched run of form, winning just 1 out of their last 8 - a meagre 2-0 home victory against Tooting & Mitchum - Having seen T&M yesterday, they look destined to finish bottom. They are awful. Leiston have a threadbare
  11. Leatherhead down to 9 men within 16 minutes. WTF
  12. As predicted, Lowestoft have signed 2 loanees prior to tomorrows match; both from Southend. Nico Cotton returns for his 2nd spell (didn't do hellish much 1st time around) and the other is a work-experience lad called Daniel Humphreys, who is an 18 year old right-back. They (LTFC) still only have 3 recognised defenders and I wouldn't pick one of them in any starting XI.
  13. A wee bit of info regarding the LTFC/Leatherhead match, Darran. The LTFC centre-back, Travis Cole is suspended for this match and they are scratching around for defenders. Jacek Zielonka was suspended on Saturday and they brought in Adam Smith (who was probably finished as a player 3 seasons ago). Zielonka played (ineffectively) as a left full-back down at Thurrock last Tuesday and was all over the shop. He's available again on Tuesday. Dale Brooks was interviewed on BBC Radio Suffolk after the match on Saturday and has stated that they are in desperate need of loanees - I'm not sure
  14. I never normally have any bother. The two shops I use are Ladbrokes and Paddy Power. The staff know me in both shops and I've never had a bet refused (albeit most do have to phone through for an authorisation code). Ladbrokes hadn't priced the match up and PP were only 6/4. I managed to play a few accounts. I got a couple of hundred on with VC and a friend also staked £200 for me with Skybet - both at 13/8. I've also backed the HT/FT and will look for another play once the teams are announced on Saturday just before kick-off as I won't be attending a match (I might go to Thurrock to see what t
