The last two Saturday's have been poor and hopefully we can get some Christmas money on Saturday especially as I fancy some of the bets strongly. The Wrexham price has not surprisingly shortened although they have for some reason drifted back out slightly. I still think the price is value at the current odds if you haven't got involved. It doesn't seem that Aldershot are going to sign anyone although they are hoping they will have 11 fit players. Team news will be very interesting that is for sure. There are 6 other bets.   Alfreton v Stockport (National League North)
I really don't get the price of Stockport here as they should be firm favourites for me. Stockport are flying at the moment and have only lost one league game in their last 10. They thumped Ashton 6-0 on Tuesday night and prior to that the beat bang in form Spennymoor away from home. In between those two games they also won in the FA Trophy in a big local derby against Altrincham. On the other hand Alfreton are looking in shocking form at the moment. The only two teams they have beaten in their last 10 league games have been the bottom two sides in the division Ashton and Nuneaton. Last time out Spennymoor put 7 past them and they are looking a poor side at the moment. 2/1 is available if you can get it, but even the next best of 7/4 with Betfred looks a cracking price.   Ashton v Southport (National League North) As mentioned above Ashton are in the bottom 2 at the moment and have only won 1 and drawn 1 in their last 9 league games and that 6-0 thumping by Stockport on Tuesday was their 4th loss on the bounce. I was a little surprised by the strength of Southport's team on Wednesday in a County Cup game given they played the Tranmere match on Monday, but I guess it beats training and of course none of them played in the FA Trophy game last Saturday. As I have mentioned plenty in recent weeks they have shown massive improvement and this looks a great game for them to pick up another 3 points in. 21/20 with BetVictor is the best price.   Kidderminster v Curzon Ashton (National League North) I took Kiddie on a couple of weeks ago as they had been out of form, but they bounced back in good fashion to beat Brackley 2-0. That is their only game so far in December so as much as they will be fresh they might also be rusty, but they had two weeks off before the Brackley so hopefully that won't get in the way. Freshness over this busy period could be crucial and they start off with a very winnable game. Curzon haven't won in 6 league games now and their last 2 league games have both been away losses as well. I think the home side should be odds on here is 103/100 with Marathon is the right side of value for me.   Concord Rangers v Chippenham (National League South) I mentioned the other week about Concord's superb home form ahead of their game against Hampton and they duly won 4-0 which took their home league record to won 8 drawn 1 and lost 1.They are worth backing at odds against in this match as Chippenham's form has taken a dip having lost their last two league games to Weston and Hungerford. On their day they are capable of beating most in the division, but they look of their game at the moment. Their away form has seen them win only 3 as well so it is all about the home team for me here.   Truro City v Wealdstone (National League South) Take out a shocker when losing 4-0 to Oxford City and Truro are one of the most improved sides in the division. That is their only defeat in their last 7 league games and they thumped Weston in the FA Trophy last weekend. I would make them favourites to beat a Wealdstone side who are struggling for victories at the moment. They have only won 2 of their last 8 games and one of those was against Gloucester City a game I was at. It was a pretty poor game played out by two fairly poor sides so I am not hugely surprised they have struggled for wins since then. They were dumped out of the Trophy by lower league opposition last week and Truro look in better nick right now.    Marine v Farsley Celtic (Evo-Stik Northern Premier) Farsley certainly preformed with credit against Telford last week in the Trophy and they showed they could match teams in the league above. They sit in 3rd in position and given the games they have in hand over the teams above they are in prime position for the top spot. They have won 7 of their last 9 league games and drawn the other two. It should be another 3 points here and I can't believe that Farsley are odds against. It has been 11 league games since Marine last picked up 3 points and they blew a 2-1 lead last week. I have only seen Bet365 price this game up so better than 11/10 might appear, but that looks a good price.   Stockport 4pts @ 7/4 with Betfred Southport 2pts @ 21/20 with BetVictor Kidderminster 3pts @ 103/100 with  Marathon Concord 2pts @ 117/100 with Marathon Truro 2pts @ 23/10 with BetVictor Farsley Celtic 3pts @ 11/10 with Bet365

No you aren't seeing things this is the thread for Saturday (there maybe mid-week bets to follow in addition to the FA Cup one once more prices go up), but I have a rare early bet as I think the price is going to go by the time I do the rest of my bets.
    Aldershot v Wrexham
Having opposed Aldershot yesterday it was annoying that it ended up a 3-3 draw as Bedford got very close to landing the 10/1 bet on them. They now replay on Tuesday night which isn't going to help ahead of this game, but as I mentioned in Saturday's preview the home side have a lot of injuries at the moment and things are so bad that they could only name 2 subs! It seems manager Gary Waddock might be on his way to Bristol Rovers, but he made a suggestion earlier in the season that there were issues off the pitch and it seems they have no money to get anymore players in. As mentioned on Saturday they are on a shocking run of form and have even lost their last two home league games having been so strong at home earlier in the season. They face a Wrexham side who have only lost to Leyton Orient in the league in their last 10 games and saw off a useful Boston side easily in the FA Trophy on Saturday. For me Wrexham should be odds on and the 5/4 with Skybet (if you can get on) is a big price in my view. I would have them about 4/6 for this before the possibility of things getting worse for them in the Bedford match on Tuesday night and the fact Waddock might be on his way. The one slight concern is that Wrexham have drawn 4 of their last 5 away league games, but this is just the type of game they have to win if they are going to keep tabs with Orient and Salford and Aldershot look there for the taking at the moment.
    Wrexham 4pts @ 5/4 with Skybet

Two poor Saturday's on the trot which is disappointing, but hopefully like last Tuesday we can get some of it back again.
    Havant & Waterlooville v Dover
I was surprised by the team Dover put out on Saturday as they rested quite a few players and they were lucky to get a replay scoring a 2nd very late on. I put Dover up as a bet for the Trophy, but clearly it doesn't seem a priority. They might play a stronger team here as it might be viewed as playing 90 minutes is better than training, but I think Havant are worth backing as they should win this if Dover put out the same side they did on Saturday and at least it covers the outright bet.
    Maidenhead v Oxford City
This game might not go ahead as the pitch was clearly in a right mess for the game to be called off after 75 minutes. City were 1 up and looking like being my only winner of the day on Saturday and they are only a little shorter than the best price available on Saturday so it seems worth backing them again as the reasons from Saturday are obviously the same as for Tuesday night.
Dorchester v Swindon Supermarine and Stratford v Coalville
Swindon do come into the game against Dorchester on the back of a 5-2 win over Basingstoke, but Dorchester continued their superb recent form by beating Eastbourne 4-0 in the FA Trophy on Saturday. That is a hell of a performance and things are really clicking for them right now as I pointed out last week. Swindon's away form is not great as they have lost 4 of their last 5 away league games and the only thing stopping Dorchester winning this is if their is a hangover from Saturday's win, but I think it will mean confidence is high and they will want to carry on their superb form. Stratford are another team in great form and they have lost just one league game in their last 10 and they have won 7 of those. Granted they were stuffed by Fylde in the Trophy on Saturday, but Fylde put out a strong side so their is nothing to be ashamed of with that result. Coalville had a tough game as well as they went to now top of the table Stourbridge and lost 4-2. That made it 3 away league defeats out of 4 games for them and it will be tough for them to get anything out of a bang in form Stratford. Both these sides are around even money so it makes sense to do the double which pays around 3/1 with Marathon.
    Havant & Waterlooville 1pt @ 59/50 with Marathon
    Oxford City 1pt @ 5/2 with BetVictor
    Dorchester/Stratford 1pt double at 2.98/1 with Marathon

Last Saturday was pretty dire stuff, but at least the one bet on Tuesday night was a winning won thanks to Dorchester's thrashing of Staines. The National League sides enter the FA Trophy this weekend and there will be a few resting players ahead of a busy Christmas period. I have 5 bets plus a treble and I also have 3 bets in the league action.   Previews to follow   AFC Telford v Farsley Celtic Two teams who are in the promotion hunt in their respective leagues although Farsley look the more likely to be in the automatic promotion picture in the Northern Premier League and they have been really impressive in recent weeks. Indeed they are now on an unbeaten run of 9 games in the league. They got a really good win against a good Basford side last Saturday and I think they are capable of causing an upset here. Granted Telford have only lost once at home in the league this season and that only came in their last home game against league leaders Bradford, but I think Farsley are more than capable of making life hard for their hosts and they are over priced in my view. Aldershot v Bedford
Aldershot's home form is what was keeping them clear of the relegation battle in the National League, but even that has deserted them of late as they have lost their last 2 home games. They are looking over their shoulder's again and I don't think they will fancy this game at all. They are struggling for fit defenders and they are a team under pressure right now given they have only picked up 1 point in their last 5 games. Bedford played in front of 65 people last week (away at bottom side North Leigh) so this will be rather different and they are a step 4 side so that is a big difference, but that is why they are such a big price. They are having a decent enough season so far siting in 6th place. Yes it is a big ask, but this is a real chance for them to cause a huge upset and I think they offer value at the prices.   Barnet v Bath City Barnet are having a good run in the FA Cup and they might be thinking this is a competition they could do well in, but I think they might get knocked out at the first time of asking. Barnet have not been great at home in the league this season having won just 3 times and they have also lost 4 of their last 5 games in the league. Now Bath have only won one of their last 6 league games, but they have only lost 3 of their last 10 so it is hardly like they are in bad form. I think like most National League South sides on their day they are capable of beating anyone in the league and in turn if Barnet fail to turn up at home again then I can see Bath being capable of causing an upset and are a spot of value.   Leyton Orient v Beaconsfield Traditionally clubs who are going for promotion to the Football League have wanted out of the FA Trophy asap. I can't believe that Justin Edinburgh wont rest players for this game and he really won't care if they make it through to the next round or not as it is all about getting promotion. Now obviously in theory they should be winning this, but at a huge price I am happy to take a chance on Beaconsfield. They have only lost 3 league games all season and if Orient do put out a mainly reserve team then Beaconsfield have every chance of causing an upset here. It is worth considering that Orient also lost to in the FA Cup at the first time of asking.    Maidenhead v Oxford City Maidenhead briefly threatened to improve their woeful form after beating Sutton and drawing with Ebbsfleet, but they have gone back to their poor performances in the last couple of games. There is a strong chance this will be a league game next season as I struggle to see even Alan Devonshire keeping them up. City are inconsistent as is proven by the fact they have won 9 league games and lost 8. That puts them level on points with Bath and as I mention above they are another one of those teams who on their day can be very good as they were when nearly beating Tranmere in the FA Cup. This is a great chance for them to cause an upset and go on another cup run.   FA Trophy treble Not a bet I would usually put up, but given I have so many bets already I thought I would group together the 3 sides at just over evens who I fancy to win on Saturday. Eastleigh are one of the teams I think could end up in the Final as they look a decent side who are in and around the play-offs, but realistically this might be their better chance of getting to Wembley. They travel to Hemel Hempstead and it looks a decent chance for them to get through. Truro v Weston-Super-Mare is a relegation battle in the league, but they also play each other in the Trophy. Truro are playing this back at their old ground so should get plenty of support and they are in decent form at the moment. They did lose 4-0 to Oxford City last Saturday, but they bounced back by beating Slough on Tuesday and that loss is their only one in 7 league games. They look in better nick than Weston at the moment. Dulwich travel to lower league opposition in Wingate and they are struggling in the Bostik Premier and it should be an away win.   Hampton & Richmond v Welling (National League South) Hampton are in really bad form having lost 7 of their last 9 league games. They struggled to beat a 10 man East Thurrock two weeks ago and then played out a dire 0-0 draw with a Gloucester City side who are in even worse form. Welling were well beaten by Torquay last week, but there is nothing wrong with that given how good they are looking right now and it is only their 2nd loss in their last 10 games. This looks the perfect chance for them to get back to winning ways and they should be odds on in my opinion.   Lewes v Margate (Bostik Premier) Lewes are flying at the moment and were impressive in winning on Wednesday over Brightlingsea. That win put them on top of the table and they have now won 8 of their last 10 league games and I like their chances of picking up another 3 points here. Margate are too inconsistent to be challenging for the play-offs this season and they have only won 2 of their last 8 games. Lewes are the better side and they look worth backing at a shade of odds against.   Poole v Chesham (Evo-Stik Southern Premier South) Two in form sides here, but it has been priced up by league positions rather than the fact they are both in form. Chesham were awful at the start of the season, but they have changed things around and now things are on the up as they have only lost one of their last 7 league games and they have won 4 of their last 5. Poole have only lost one of their last 8 so like I say both teams are in form, but at 4/1 I think their is definite value in backing the away side as they are clearly better than their current league position.   Farsley Celtic 1pt @ 21/5 with BetVictor Bedford 0.5pts @ 10/1 with BetVictor & Betfred Bath City 1pt @ 15/4 with Bet365 Beaconsfield 0.5pts @ 14/1 with BetVictor Oxford City 1pt @ 13/5 with BetVictor, Betfred & Bet365 Truro/Dulwich Hamlet/Eastleigh 1pt @ 9.1/1 with Betfred Welling 2.5pts @ 11/8 with Betfred, BetVictor & William Hill Lewes 2pts @ 23/20 with Betfred Chesham 1pt @ 4/1 with Bet365

Staines v Dorchester (Southern Premier South)
Just the one bet for me this mid-week and I fancy the away side to carry on their recent good form. They hadn't won in 5 league games and had suffered a couple of heavy defeats, but they have been much improved since having won both league games and beating National League South side Hungerford in the FA Trophy. That was a really good effort even for allowing for the fact that Hungerford aren't doing well in the league above. They won 4-1 on Saturday and should be confident of picking up another 3 points here. They might have one eye on the FA Trophy tie against Eastbourne on Saturday, but Staines are a bad side. In their last 10 league games they have lost 9 and won one. They haven't played a game since November 24th so there is every chance they will be pretty ring rusty coming into this as well. I'd back anyone at odds against to beat Staines at the moment so Marathon's 129/100 makes a fair bit of appeal on an away win.

Another winning Nap on Tuesday night and December has got off to a solid start. I have bets in 7 games across the 3 National League divisions on Saturday.
    Boreham Wood v Leyton Orient
In typical style the only game Orient have failed to win in their last 5 league games was when I put them up against Aldershot and they drew 0-0. It was frustrating as it is the only recent good performance Aldershot have put in in the league of late. They are now unbeaten in 9 league games and have won 6 of them. I have long said the league title will go to either them or Salford and it is games like this they need to make sure they are picking up 3 points in. Now Wood are quite hard to beat at home and have only lost twice in the league at home all season, but they have both come in their last 5 games including in their last one against Dover. Overall though they have won just 2 of their last 10 league games and beating Maidenhead and Bromley at home hardly suggests they are capable of beating Orient here. They look a fair way off the side who reached the play-off final last season. Orient should be odds on and Betfred are 21/20 about the away side picking up 3 points in the game live on BT Sport at 12.35
    Chesterfield v Salford
    Draw!
Well like in the Bromley game I think it is wise to cover two results here. Martin Allen has let a few players either go or put on the transfer list this week as he looks to change things around. They didn't do too badly against Grimsby in the FA Cup and they will be disappointed by the goals they conceded as both were a bit fortunate. What it did show yet again though is they struggle to get goals despite the fact they are putting in a fair bit of effort. I know they have been drawing games, but you don't go on an unbeaten run like this by being a bad side and they are capable of making life hard for Salford. I have to back the draw again as I said I would until they stopped drawing league games. However, Salford should really be winning this and they ought to be odds on really like Orient in the game above. Betfred are 11/10 about them and I will have the bigger bet on that whilst also covering the draw at 5/2 with Bet365 and Betway.
    Dagenham & Redbridge v Halifax
Well Dagenham's win for us last week was rather dramatic and hopefully they won't need two 90th minute goals to win this week, because I really fancy them to beat a poor Halifax side. Halifax's only win in their last 10 league games came in a 1-0 win at home to Dover. Away from home they have been mainly poor. I put them up to get a point in their last away game against Ebbsfleet and they stunk the place out losing 4-0. Their only away win came on the opening day of the season when they beat a Braintree side who have basically been in the bottom two all season. They have managed the odd good point on the road including at Solihull, but I think they will struggle to get anything out of this. Now we got away with the Dagenham bet last week as Hartlepool deserved to win, but it meant Dagenham kept their great run going. They have won 6 of their last 7 league games including their last 4 and hopefully it will be another one here. They are obviously nothing like the side they were earlier in the season. Dagenham should be odds on for me and the 23/20 with Betfred and Betway looks cracking value.
    Gateshead  v Bromley
Another one at the shorter end of the market as I like Gatshead at even money in this game. Gateshead have only lost 3 home games this season and they came back to back. At least one of them they shouldn't have lost and they were all by 1 goal. Now they have only won once in their last 5 league games and have lost 3 of them, but strangely enough only one of those games was played at home and I am expecting them to improve for being back at the International Stadium. Bromley have only won once in their last 6 games and that was a 4-0 drubbing of Harltepool at home. Bromley's only two away wins in the league have come against sides who are poor at home in Ebbsfleet and Maidstone. Also both sides are fellow Kent teams and who knows their might be something in that. Gateshead should be capable of racking up another home win here.
    Sutton v Solihull
Sutton stopped me from getting 3/3 in the league bets last week when getting a late equaliser at Fylde, but hopefully we can get them beat here. Granted they have only lost 2 of their last 8  home league games and only 4 in the league all season, but they have also only won 2 in that same spell and the 3g pitch doesn't seem to be in their favour this season. One of those wins as well was the freak 3-0 victory over Wrexham. As Solihull proved against Blackpool in the FA Cup last week they really are a very good side this season. I am just kicking myself for not having backed them on the handicap or something at the start of the season, because the quality of their squad meant they should never have been favourites to go down. I was concerned about Tim Flowers because his managerial career prior to this has not been good, but he has done a superb job. Now their away form doesn't always quite match their home form, but the 4 defeats have come at Fylde, Harrogate, Orient and Barnet so there is no disgrace in that. Marathon are a quarter of a point bigger than anyone else at 11/4 and that price is way too big as for me they are the better side and despite Sutton not losing all that often they have a much better chance of beating them than those odds suggest.
    Bradford Park Avenue v Southport
Southport have been doing good things for us of late and they were superb against Tranmere in the FA Cup last weekend more than deserving their replay. I am sure the prospect of possibly meeting Spurs could be distracting, but their league form has not dipped despite the Cup run and given the replay is still going to be over a week away hopefully they can put it to the back of their minds here. They did need a late goal to beat Boston last time, but they have proven they have the quality to beat the best in the division and BPA are currently the best in the division. They haven't lost in 7 league games having won 5 of them and usually I wouldn't really oppose a team in that sort of form, but I just don't think Southport are as far away from them as the betting suggest so I am happy to take a chance at 7/2 with Bet365.
    Kidderminster v Brackley
Hard to know what is going on at Kiddie as they have had a real dip in form. Maybe a couple of weeks off will help iron out the issues, but they have lost their last 3 home games in the league and then you can add a defeat at home to York in the FA Trophy into the mix as well. They have only won 1 of their last 6 league games as well. Brackley have only lost two league games in their last 10, including last week against Altrincham, but they have also drawn half of them so they aren't quite winning as many as maybe they should be. After losing their first two away games they have only lost one more so they are solid on the road and with Kiddie not performing well at the moment I am happy to take a chance on the away win here at 23/10 with Marathon and Bet365.
    Hemel Hempstead v Dulwich Hamlet
Final bet of the day comes in the National League South and the away team look over priced here. Hamlet are only in 17th place in the league, but I do think they are better than that and sometimes they aren't quite getting the points their performances deserve. They lost 2-0 to Torquay last week although they held their own against the league leaders. Dulwich have only won once in their last 7 league games, but they beat Welling in the FA Trophy and Torquay are the only team to beat them by more than one goal. In their last 4 games Hemel have managed to beat Gloucester and East Thurrock which is hardly saying an awful lot and then lost to Wealdstone and Concord. As I have mentioned a few times when talking about the National League South this is a league with very small margins between winning and losing and I have seen nothing to suggest that Hemel should be odds on shots to beat Dulwich. Bet365 are over half a point bigger than anyone else at 15/4 and that is value for me.

November was a decent month profit wise and December (as long as the weather plays ball) is obviously a very busy month so fingers crossed the decent form can continue. I have 3 FA Cup bets for Sunday and they are all on that thread. I have 5 bets in the 3 National League's for Saturday.
    AFC Fylde v Sutton
It was good to finally be on the right side of a bet on Fylde away from home as they had a pretty comfortable time of things in beating now mangerless Hartlepool on Tuesday night. At home they have won 8, drawn 1 and lost just twice and they were to Salford and Leyton Orient. The draw was against Harrogate so we are talking about them only dropping points to the top teams in the division and although Sutton have only lost 4 times they haven't been reaching the levels they did last season. Their last 3 league performances haven't been great although they did come from 2 down to draw 2-2 at Braintree on Tuesday night, but then Braintree are bottom. They lost to Slough on penalties in the FA Cup and Fylde look a cut above to me especially given how strong they are at home. I think they should be odds on so am happy to get involved at 11/10.
    Hartlepool v Dagenham & Redbridge
I'm not sure Hartlepool have got either managerial appointments right since they dropped out of the Football League. Fair play to Matthew Bates for keeping them in the division last season especially in very tricky circumstances, but after a solid start things have gone downhill fast and they have lost 6 league games on the bounce. Not surprisingly he got the sack on Wednesday and the club need to get the next appointment right so they can at least give themselves a solid base for next season. In the very short term I am not sure things are going to get any better on Saturday and Dagenham look a hell of a bet at 7/2 to pick up another 3 points. Since the takeover Peter Taylor has been able to spend money and the team has been improving. They have won 5 out of their last 6 games and the only loss was a 1-0 defeat to Sutton. They have only conceded 4 times in their last 6 games and they have been a lot more solid at the back as well as being clinical at the other end of the pitch. These two sides should be much closer to each other in the betting.
    Nuneaton v Blyth Spartans
Like Hartlepool Nuneaton are also without a manager at the moment and I think things are going to take some time before the new owner has any effect on the playing side of things. The three draws they got in their last 8 league games were decent efforts, but they lost their other 5 games and 4 of those were by at least 2 goals. Blyth didn't have a great start to the season, but they have shown a big improvement in recent weeks, bar a couple of bad defeats. In their last 8 league games they were their only two losses and they won 5 of those games including against an in form Stockport on Tuesday night. They only picked up 1 point in their first 6 away games, but have picked up 7 in their other 3 which is more proof of their improvement. They should be favourites to win this so the 2/1 is a cracking bet in my view.
    Spennymoor v Kidderminster
Spennymoor did us a good turn last week and after a tricky start they really put Halesowen to the sword to beat them 8-2. Now this game will obviously be harder, but Kidderminster's form has really gone downhill in recent weeks. They have only won one of their last 6 league games and York beat them 3-1 in the FA Trophy last week. To be fair their away form has been better than their home form and they have only lost once on their travels, but they drew against Nuneaton in their last away game and I think Spennymoor are looking much the better side at the moment, thus they look a fair bet.
    Truro v St Albans
The other team in the double last week were Truro and I am also sticking with them this week back in league action. As I mentioned last week they have been an improved side of late and they are unbeaten in their last 5 league games. They look a decent bet here as I think they should be favourites. St Albans games have been very exciting as their league games have seen 64 goals already, yet strangely their last league game saw them draw 0-0 against Gloucester. That was their first point in 4 games though and it was a poor game. Since then they have been beaten in a replay by Weymouth in the FA Trophy and they look out of sorts at the moment. With a long trip to Torquay ahead of them I think this could be another game they end up with nothing.

Another profitable day on Saturday and we move on to the final set of fixtures for November where we basically have a full fixture list in the National League which is where my focus is.
    Chesterfield v Bromley
    Draw!
Well it might not be as simple as that. Bromley are looking pretty poor at the moment and this does look a very winnable game for Chesterfield who despite their long unbeaten run did slip into the relegation zone on Saturday. They are clearly a better side than that and this is a much easier game than Saturday's. However I did think the Havant game was one they could have won and indeed they should have done, but again their lack of scoring goals was the issue in a 0-0 draw. I am going to back the draw again though because the stats suggest it is the value play yet again. How on earth other tipsters still haven't bothered putting it up I don't know. In this match though I am also going to cover the home win because it is a shade of odds against so would give us a tiny profit if it happened and I struggle to see Bromley winning the match.
    Hartlepool v AFC Fylde
I have had my fingers burnt a few times when putting up Fylde away from home as they have only one twice and drawn 7 times. I am going to back them again though as I think Hartlepool look vulnerable at the moment. They have lost 5 league games on the bounce including to struggling Dover on Saturday. What probably didn't help was the fact Gillingham took them to extra time in the FA Cup on Wednesday night and I can imagine that game had left a mark. What they need is a week off, but they aren't going to get that and you would hope that Fylde attack them early on as Dover did on Saturday. Fylde scored two goals in the 88th minute to overturn a 1 goal deficit against Boreham Wood on Saturday and they were a bit off their game, but it is always uplifting to win a game in that style and if they could turn this away draws into wins then they might be capable of getting in the title picture.
    Leyton Orient v Aldershot
Tuesday nights do tend to throw up some strange results and if Aldershot even get a point in this game it would be one of the stranger ones of the season. They are woeful on the road having won just once and drawn just once scoring just 5 times in 10 games. They even managed to lose at home to Barrow on Saturday and like Hartlepool the FA Cup replay they had which went to penalties might have been behind the lackluster performance. Orient are beginning to look like they might be hard to catch at the top of the table. They have lost just once all season and have conceded just 13 goals all season whilst scoring 42. They got a huge win on Saturday against Wrexham when Bonne got a crucial goal 4 minutes from time. He deserves to be playing in the Football League and there is every chance he will be doing that with Orient next season. Aldershot lost 4-0 to Salford in their last away match and this should be a comfortable night for Orient and they should cover the -1 handicap which looks a cracking bet to me.
    Maidstone v Eastleigh
I wonder if Maidstone might have one eye on the FA Cup match at the weekend as they weren't great on Saturday when I tipped them up. Granted a sending off didn't help, but they were already a goal down at the time and ended up losing 5-2. They did beat Macclesfield at home in the FA Cup a couple of weeks ago, but they have only won once at home in the league all season and I don't expect them to get a 2nd here. Eastleigh are strong away from home and I am beginning to think that they could be play-off contenders as they are creeping into contention. They are 5 games unbeaten now and are playing well. It probably wont be a goalfest, but I do expect the away side to nick it as they are the better side.
    Salford v Harrogate
I am going to oppose Salford again because as I wrote on Saturday I think they are going to lose a league game sooner rather than later. It could well have been Solihull on Saturday as Solihull did score but it was ruled out. At the time of writing I haven't seen the goal yet, but it was a contentious decision as the ref had to consult with his linesman after originally giving the goal. Harrogate started slowly against Braintree on Saturday, but found their stride after going a goal down and ran out easy 3-1 winners in the end. They are only 3 points behind their hosts on Tuesday with a game in hand and have lost just two games so far this season in the league. It obviously is no gimmie, but I do think they should be shorter than the price they are as I would have them around 2/1 to win this so they are certainly worth a bet.

    Previews to follow

    Eastleigh v Chesterfield
Obviously going for the draw again here. Chesterfield may have beaten Billericay 3-1 on Tuesday night, but it could easily have been a draw as Billericay created enough to get a point. I also wouldn't read too much into the fact that they scored 3 goals as they also did that in the previous round of the FA Cup against Fylde and it didn't do much for their scoring ability in the league. Eastleigh come into this in good form and have improved after a little sticky spell after Hessenthaler left to go to Dover. They are unbeaten in 4 and that includes draws against Salford and Leyton Orient and to be fair they should have beaten Salford, but as we know Chesterfield make themselves very hard to beat conceding few and scoring few themselves and this could easily end up in another point apiece.
    Ebbsfleet v Halifax
I am also tipping up the draw in this game. Gary Hill has come in as Ebbsfleet manager, but they don't really seem to have improved and they have struggled in front of goal. Both these sides were in FA Cup action on Tuesday and the home side lost 2-0 to Cheltenham, but Halifax caused an upset when beating Morecambe 1-0. Halifax have only picked up 1 win on the road which was their first game of the season, but they have managed 4 draws including getting points at Sutton, Wrexham, Solihull and of course they drew at Morecambe in the Cup. With Ebbsfleet having been poor at home all season, with little to suggest that Hill has improved them at home, I can easily see this being a draw especially as both sides could be a bit leggy after Tuesday's games.
    Havant & Waterlooville v Maidstone
This could be a tight game as well but there is no way Maidstone should be as big as they are. Their away form has been pretty decent of late as they have only lost once in their last 5 away league games. They look an improved side under the new manager and they got a very good draw at home to Wrexham last week. Havant have started picking up points as well and are unbeaten in 3 now including 2 home wins. The problem is they were against a Maidenhead side who had their keeper sent off (albeit they won 7-0) and Halifax. This game for me is tougher and their is definite value in backing the away win as I would have these two sides prices much closer together.
    Solihull Moors v Salford
Salford hadn't lost in sometime prior to their defeat against Shrewsbury in the FA Cup on Wednesday night, but they have been pretty fortunate to not have lost before then. They have not been playing at their best in the whole and twice in their last 5 league games they have needed a 90th minute goal to get a point. They have also drawn against Ebbsfleet and were lucky to get past Marine in the FA Cup. They played well at Barnet and did beat Aldershot 4-0 last Saturday, but Aldershot are woeful on the road so that doesn't add up too much. Solihull are still in the play-off positions and are having a superb season. They have only lost one of their last 10 league games and have lost once at home all season. If Salford aren't at their best again then Solihull are more than good enough to punish them and are well worth a bet at the prices.
    Alfreton v Farsley Celtic
Alfreton's only win in their last 9 league games came against Nuneaton last Saturday which says it all really and they have been really struggling after a good start to the season. I fancy an upset here in the FA Trophy as the away side are flying in the Evo-Stik Premier. They have only lost one of their last 10 league games and have been solid on the road. They are very much in the promotion picture and are more than good enough to get a win against their National League North hosts here.
    Spennymoor v Halesowen/Truro City v Greenwich
This double is the Nap of the weekend for me. Spennymoor are having another good season in the National League North and had a good run in this competition last season. They should be more than capable of beating a Halesowen side who are really struggling at the moment in the league below. Truro have really found some form in the National League South and they really should be beating a Greenwich side who are two levels below and have only won 3 league games all season and sit in 18th place.
    Eastleigh v Chesterfield 1pt draw @ 11/5 with Bet365, Skybet & William Hill
    Ebbsfleet v Halifax 1pt draw @ 11/4 with Bet365
    Maidstone 1pt @ 3/1 with Bet365

That late Southport winner turned a decent day into a very good day. Shame Darlington went 2 down before they got going and Dulwich had a man sent off which stopped their chance of winning, but very happy with the days work.

FA Cup weekend was rather profitable backed up with FCUM winning at a big price in the league and then Tuesday night it was 2 from 2 with Southport and Dartford both winning. Hopefully that will continue on Saturday and I have 7 bets this weekend.
Chesterfield v Havant & Waterlooville (National League)
I was all set to be all over Harrogate at odds against, but the game has been called off as Maidenhead have too many players called up for international duty. The rest of the fixtures look tricky from a punting point of view, but I have to carry on with my backing Chesterfield to draw system. 3 matches on the bounce it has paid off now and I also had the 1-1 draw covered when they played Halifax a few weeks ago. They have drawn 8 of their last 10 league games and 6 of those draws have been 1-1. When you chuck in the FA Cup game last week which was also a 1-1 draw I am kicking myself for not putting that up for the last 3 weeks! However we can't be too greedy and I will just stick with the draw again. To be honest it does look like a winnable game for the home side, but Havant had last weekend off so they will be fresh and ready and they have managed to win their last 2 games so I am backing the draw again.
Dulwich v Oxford City (National League South) I was surprised that Dulwich lost to Truro last Sunday although it has to be said that Truro do seem to be improving and that made it 4 games unbeaten for them in the league. As for Dulwich that was the 2nd disappointing result in a row as they also blew a 2 goal lead against Weston last Tuesday. They are 4 games unbeaten at home though and I think it is worth opposing Oxford City again. Dartford should have been well out of sight before Oxford made it 3-2 on Tuesday night such was their dominance especially in the 1st half. By all accounts the fact Oxford had been involved in such a tough game at Tranmere 3 days prior showed. Here the focus will surely be on the replay especially as it is on BT Sport and Dulwich are more than good enough to make them pay.   Boston v Southport (National League North) I have to continue backing Southport after 3 superb results now as I get the feeling they are finally showing the reason I backed them ante-post for the title. Granted beating Hereford at the moment is nothing special, but they put the game to bed with ease and I always like it when a team does that whatever the opponents. It is important to try and find teams who are playing better than their league position suggests as the bookies will always price those sides up bigger than they should as they have here. Boston were another one of my ante-post tips for the title and they are having a solid season only being 6 points off the lead, but in their last 5 league games they have only beaten Hereford and as things stand Southport are looking in better form at the moment.   Darlington v Hereford (National League North) For the 3rd game running I have to oppose Hereford. Yes they went down to 10 men on Tuesday night, but they were never really in the game and this is a really tough match for them given how long it has been since they won a league game. The home side meanwhile are unbeaten in 5 league games and have only lost one of their last 8. They have drawn their last 3, but their last two games have been against Bradford and Guiseley so they would have been harder games than this. Hereford have only won one away game all season and Darlington have had a couple of weeks without a league game so should be raring to go against a team low on confidence.   FCUM v AFC Telford (National League North) The home side have yet to win at home, but surely that will change soon given they have shown massive improvement of late. They are now unbeaten in 5 league games and have scored 3 in their last two. Now Telford will be tougher opponents than Blyth or Hereford and are obviously having a good season, but I think FCUM certainly offer value at over 2/1 given like Southport they are clearly playing better than their league position suggests.   Barwell v Kings Lynn (Evo-Stik South Central) Barwell cost us big time a couple of weeks ago when they conceded a penalty in injury time against Bedford and hopefully they won't cost us this time as I think Kings Lynn look a cracking bet. Even before Ian Culverhouse came back as manager they were improving after a tricky start to the season as they are unbeaten in 7 league games, but they have comfortably won both games since he came back. Given how good they were under him last season I am expecting them to be a major force in the division and possibly even push for the title as they are only 9 points behind at the moment. They are a better side than their hosts and after that draw against Bedford they have still only won once at home this season.   Reddtich v Lowestoft (Evo-Stik South Central) I opposed Redditch a few weeks ago against Biggleswade which was a winning bet, but having wondered if their new manger would improve them or not given their seemed to be plenty of issues I certainly got that wrong. I didn't think he would, but he has as they then won their next 4 league games. They did lose 4-0 to Stourbridge on Tuesday night to break that run, but then Stourbridge are 2nd in the table and Lowestoft are certainly no Stourbridge. They have only picked up 1 point in their last 7 league games and have only won once away from home picking up just one other point. Redditch certainly look in much better shape and can bounce straight back from the Stourbridge defeat.   Chesterfield v Havant 1pt draw @ 5/2 with Bet365 Dulwich 1pt @ 61/50 with Marathon Southport 2pts@ 68/25 with Marathon Darlington 2pts @ 11/10 with Paddy Power and Betway FCUM 1pt @ 21/10 with Paddy Power Kings Lynn 2.5pts @ 71/50 with Marathon Redditch 2pts  @ 7/5 with BetVictor

Not too many Non-League games this mid-week but a couple of matches have caught my eye from a betting point of view.
Hereford v Southport (National League North)
The knives are out for Marc Richards from the Hereford fans already. The fans weren't happy in the first place that he was the new manager and given they are yet to win under him they are getting angrier by the match. Opposing them on Saturday was a very profitable decision as FCUM ran out 3-1 winners having scored their goals in the space of 4 1st half minutes. They are now in the relegation zone and if Ricco doesn't turn it around soon then he will probably regret moving from Gloucester last month and taking up the role here. Usually I would want to oppose a team who are coming off the back of a big FA Cup win as Southport are doing, but there are strong signs that they are turning their season around. They put in a very impressive performance to win 4-1 against Kidderminster in their last league game and then followed that up with a 2-0 win against Boreham Wood on Saturday which was a good effort as Wood always make themselves hard to beat. I hope that those performances mean they now have the momentum and instead of being distracted by the Cup they use it as an incentive to start climbing the table especially as they face a team who are going to be under huge pressure in front of their own fans. At 89/50 with Marathon I think Southport are a decent bet.
Dartford v Oxford City (National League South)
After watching my 7th game of the season in this division on Saturday I feel strongly that their is little between the sides in this division this season and games are generally being won via small margins rather than teams being superior. That means taking short odds is going to generally be a bit of a risky proposition, however I am going to back Dartford here because I think there is a very strong case to do so. Dartford have only lost once in their last 7 games and are finally getting going after a slow start to the season. At home they have only lost once so far and given the tightness of the division they will be one of many teams eyeing up a play-off spot. They didn't have a game on Saturday so will have had extra rest ahead of this one which is something Oxford certainly didn't have. Fair play to City because I didn't think they would be in the hat for the 2nd Round draw, but they put in a hell of a performance to draw 3-3 with Tranmere on Saturday. That game is surely going to have left it's mark and it would be easy to think they will be having their minds on the replay which must have a high chance of being on TV. Prior to winning at Hampton last time out they had only picked up 1 away point all season and that came at Weston. The home side are basically even money with Marathon and for me there are very sound reasons to think that is too big.

If you want to see most of my bets for this weekend then go to the FA Cup forum as that is where they are. With only BetVictor having priced up the FA Trophy that means there aren't that many league games to get my teeth stuck into so I only have the one bet in the National League North.
    Hereford v FUCM
I wrote last week that FCUM look like they were improving and it was a bit frustrating for them to blow their lead that night only for them to come out and easily beat Blyth on the Saturday. Hopefully it can pay off backing them here because they look a big price to do so. I also opposed Hereford on that Tuesday night and they also got a point against AFC Telford. They also got a point last Saturday, but their run without a win continues and although there are signs of improvement given they have drawn 3 of their last 4 games, it is hard to understand how FCUM are such a big price given FCUM have still had the better recent results. They have actually been backed in which isn't a surprise, but I still think 11/4 (Betfred) is too big and I suspect the price will continue to fall.

Saturday was a blank day. Aldershot and Halifax were poor, Dulwich could have won and somehow Stockport failed to beat a 10 man Nuneaton. It is a full fixture list in the 3 National League's on Tuesday and as much Tuesday's can be a nightmare I fancy 7 bets on the night.
    Eastleigh v Leyton Orient
Eastleigh won their first game under their caretaker manager on Saturday when beating Halifax, but as mentioned above Halifax were poor and I don't think Eastleigh had to do much to beat them. This game is very different and Orient were superb in taking apart Havant on Saturday. The Havant manager said afterwards they were easily the best side they have played so far this season and with Salford having a mini wobble that 4-0 win took them back to the top of the table. I am amazed that Orient are drifting as I think they should be odds on to take this and Marathon's 127/100 makes plenty of appeal.
    Ebbsfleet v Maidstone
I admit I am taking a bit of a chance here as Maidstone have lost their last 3 league games, but it is worth considering 3 things in this game. First of all Maidstone did manage to beat Leyton Orient in the FA Cup so that was a decent effort. Secondly Maidstone's away form has improved a little of late as they managed to beat Braintree and Aldershot before losing to AFC Fylde in their last 3 away matches. The 3rd point is Ebbsfleet's home form which is shocking as I have pointed out quite a few times on here of late. Now it was a great result to get a point at Salford on Saturday and the expected departures hasn't happened as of yet, but I can't overlook their dreadful away efforts. Maybe this being a derby might perk them up a bit, but I think that could be a factor for Maidstone as well and they are capable of pulling off a victory here. I am certainly happy to take a chance on an away win at 26/5 with Marathon.
    Sutton v Chesterfield
Chesterfield are the draw specialists having now drawn their last 4 league games and 6 of their last 8 have been draws. The two defeats in that spell were when they couldn't defend against Gateshead and Maidenhead and conceded 3 goals in each game, but since those two they have defended much better and yet again have made themselves hard to beat. They did manage to beat AFC Fylde in the FA Cup, but as we know in the league they can't buy a win. They tried hard against Wrexham on Saturday, but they just couldn't find a winning goal however hard they tried. Sutton have drawn 3 of their last 5 home matches with the other two games being the two freak results of losing 4-0 to Boreham Wood and then beating Wrexham 3-0. I know there are 14 points between the two sides, but I suspect in reality there probably isn't that much between the two teams. I rarely put up a draw, but I do think it looks the value play in this game and at 13/5 with Bet365 it is worth a bet.
    AFC Telford v Hereford
Neither of these sides have been winning much in recent weeks as after a cracking start to the season Telford had a bit of a blip by not winning in 5 (although they did draw with leaders Chorley), but they were back to winning ways when coming from a goal down against in form York to win 2-1 on Saturday thanks to a late winner. They still sit in the play-off places whereas Hereford sit one place outside the relegation zone having only picked up two points in their last 9 games. New manager Marc Richard's hasn't really seen an improvement from his side so far and Boston put 3 past them on Saturday. To be fair Hereford were the better side in the first half, but they couldn't make it count and were very much 2nd best in the 2nd. The goal on Saturday was only their 3 on the road so far this season and I am surprised that Telford are as big as 7/5 (Bet365) as I would have them as stronger favourites.
    FCUM v Alfreton
Going to take a chance on FUCM here as they have shown improvement in their last couple of games. The new manager only started on Saturday and he oversaw a 1-1 draw with Brackley which was a good effort, but last week they caused a huge upset when winning at 2nd place Kidderminster. They haven't won at home yet, but I wouldn't read too much into that given how poor they have been for most of the season. Alfreton have now lost 5 on the bounce in the league and although it was a late winner from Chester to beat them 3-2 on Saturday that will have been a painful defeat to take on the back of the other loses in the league. At 13/5 with Bet365 I think the home side are a sporting bet.
    Southport v Curzon Ashton
Quite why the bookies continue to price up Southport so short I am not sure given they are bottom of the table. They are by far my worst ante-post tip of the season given they were my main selection for the title and I can't believe how badly they have done. Their only league win was a 4-1 victory over Nuneaton which sums up their season really. Curzon have only lost to Boston in their last 6 games and they sit in 2nd place in the away table in the league and are only behind Chorley on goal difference. Also Chorley are the only side they have lost to on their travels. For them to be over 3/1 to beat the bottom side seems bonkers to me.
    Weston-Super-Mare v Torquay
One of the strangest results of the season so far was Weston beating Bath in the FA Cup last week because Bath should have been way too strong for them. Weston only have 2 points in the league and were bad yet again on Saturday. I wasn't sure Gary Johnson was the right fit for Torquay, but he has really transformed them so far and got them scoring goals which was something they weren't doing before. Impressive again at the weekend and I just don't see how they don't pick up another 3 points here. Both sides are in the FA Cup 1st Round, but that is going to be the highlight of Weston's season so no surprise if the players have one eye on that.

Last Saturday it was good to get 3 upsets (I am counting Dover as an upset as they were the outsiders) in the FA Cup and that is why I love punting on that competition. The 4th Qualifying Round and the 1st Round are the two favourite weekends for me as I love the chance to land a few big prices and I look forward to seeing what the 1st Round brings in a couple of weeks. Tuesday night saw a profit on the 3 bets as well so it continues to be a profitable month. Saturday sees the Step 3 clubs in FA Trophy action and as only BetVictor have priced them up I am not getting involved so it is 3 bets and a double for me across the 3 National Leagues.
    Gateshead v Aldershot
I think the away side are a huge price to win this. Gateshead's home form has been a bit shaky of late. They lost 3 on the bounce to Harrogate, Braintree and Eastleigh before beating Dagenham 2-0 in their last home league match. That form doesn't add up to an awful lot and I think they are flattered a bit by their current position in the play-off positions. Both these sides are in the FA Cup 1st Round although it is fair to say Aldershot certainly had the tougher afternoon seeing off a good Kettering side. As much as Aldershot have improved of late I wasn't surprised by the fact that Kettering gave them a good game because they are looking really good in the league this season and as they proved have it in them to create a National League side problems. Aldershot had enough class in the end though to see them off and it continued their big improvement in form which I wrote about a couple of weeks ago when putting them up to beat Eastleigh. These two sides are much closer together than a price of 14/5 (BetVictor) suggests and to be honest I think Aldershot will turn out to be the better side come April.
    Halifax v Eastleigh
I think there is just enough in the Halifax price to get involved here. I have opposed Eastleigh in both games so far since Hessenthaler left and it has proven very profitable with them losing to Aldershot and then when they got knocked out of the FA Cup by Hampton & Richmond last weekend. I suspected they wouldn't be able to sustain the progress they had made under him and it has been correct so far. As I pointed out when I put up Halifax a couple of weeks ago they love to draw at the moment although I thought they did well to beat Warrington in the FA Cup replay on Tuesday night after Warrington had outplayed them in the first game. I think its a good time to be playing Eastleigh at the moment and Halifax could finally get that league victory. At 161/100 with Marathon I think there is enough in the price to take it especially as they are drifting at the time of writing.
    Billericay v Dulwich
I still believe Billericay will win the league, but having seen them for myself a couple of weeks ago I think they are worth opposing here. Gloucester deserved at least a point and Billericay backed off Gloucester in the 2nd half allowing them plenty of possession and thus allowing them to create chances. They then had two games against Taunton and they were a bit fortunate to get a replay as Taunton missed a penalty in the first game and then they only won 1-0 on Wednesday night. They obviously have plenty of attacking talent, but Jake Robinson broke a toe in the first Taunton game and any side will miss his goals. These two sides have history given they were going for the title last season and Dulwich won this fixture last season. The Dulwich players and fans will be in a positive frame of mind after it was announced earlier in the week that they can return to Champion Hill although to be honest I don't think the players would need any incentive to beat Billericay anyway. They have had a couple of weeks off which should help and I was surprised to see footage of the Billericay players celebrating the win over Taunton as heavily as they were given in less than 72 hours they had a big league game. Dulwich are in a false position in the table and on their day I think they are capable of beating anyone in the division and at 7/2 (BetVictor) they are the value play in this.
    Leyton Orient v Havant & Waterlooville/Stockport v Nuneaton
The home double here pays 37/25 with Marthon and makes plenty of appeal. Orient were surprisingly knocked out of the FA Cup by Maidstone last week, but at least they weren't knocked out by a team two leagues below like Havant who lost to the Met Police. Orient should win this as Havant continue to struggle to get a victory. In the National League North Stockport should be beating a Nuneaton team who might not be around this time next week. They are in a sorry state off the pitch and although they have been battling well on it they then went and lost 6-0 to Bradford Park Avenue last Saturday. I think the players might now be thinking they are fighting a lost cause and I'm not sure going to a big ground like Stockport is ideal in the situation they are in.

Last weekend was really good and the double on Tuesday night kept things ticking over nicely. 64 teams on Saturday will be hoping they are in the hat for Monday nights FA Cup 1st Round draw and finally the bookies have woken up to offering odds on the competition. I have 5 bets in the FA Cup and also one bet in the National League South.
    Concord Rangers v Dover
If this game had taken place a couple of weeks ago I would have backed the home side, however Andy Hessenthaler had an instant impact on Dover last weekend. They should have beaten Harrogate last Saturday having been the better side for most of the game especially in the 2nd half. It was only a 95th minute equaliser which lead to them only getting a point. This was a huge improvement on the performances Dover have been putting in this season if they can repeat that then I think they can get into the 1st Round. Concord got off to a really good start in National League South, but their form of late has not been great and they have only managed to beat Truro in their last 7 league games. They do have a good squad so at their best they can make things tricky for Dover, but like I say if Dover can get anywhere near the level they did in Hessenthaler's first game in charge then I can't see anything but a Dover win. Bet365 are best price on a Dover win at 15/8.
    Eastleigh v Hampton & Richmond
I took Hessenthaler's former club on last week and it proved a profitable decision and I am going to take them on again here. Granted they were facing an improving Aldershot side, but I do get the feeling that Hessenthaler leaving has had an effect on the team and it has put a stop to the improvement they were making. I think that could leave them vulnerable to a Cup upset especially to a side like Hampton. They had won 5 games on the bounce in the league, but have lost their last two. The first was against league leaders Billericay though who were superb against them and then they lost to Wealdstone last Saturday which was their first away defeat of the season although it wasn't helped by a red card in the 2nd half. They have the capability to cause Eastleigh problems and it might just be the right time to be playing them. Marathon are 13/4 about an away win.
    Ebbsfleet v Worthing
To be fair to Ebbsfleet it sounds like they were a little unlucky to lose to Solihull although regular readers will know they have been much better on their travels than they have been at home and I am sure they are far from looking forward to this match which looks a potential Cup upset. Worthing maybe two levels below their hosts on Saturday, but they are having a superb season so far. They have only lost once in the league and are just one point behind the leaders in 2nd place. Worthing should be looking forward to this as I would love to be playing Ebbsfleet at home at the moment given how lacklustre they are on their own pitch at the moment. They will obviously be high on confidence as well and there is a huge amount of pressure on Ebbsfleet to avoid defeat and manager Daryl McMahon could be out of a job if they lose this. The 7/1 with BetVictor about an away win makes plenty appeal.
Met Police v Havant & Waterlooville
I think the home side could cause an upset against a Havant side who are struggling for wins. Obviously this is an easier match than they are used to playing in the league, but travelling to a side who are making themselves hard to beat. They have only lost two games in the league so far this season and although they have drawn more than they have won, they had a great 4-1 win over Taunton 3 weeks ago and last weekend they were involved in a 4-4 thriller with Basingstoke. I love taking on teams who have a lot of pressure on because they are struggling in their league especially when they are playing away at teams who are capable on their day of causing on upset and this game fits the bill. If you can get a bet on with Boylesports then they are 15/4 otherwise it is 7/2 with BetVictor and Betway.
    Warrington v Halifax
Warrington had won 7 league games on the bounce prior to just their 2nd defeat of the season last weekend against Matlock. They didn't play well and maybe they had their minds on this game because they have a real chance of causing an upset and getting through to the 1st Round. I didn't think there was a great deal of quality on show in the Halifax v Chesterfield game on the TV last weekend and as I mentioned a couple of weeks ago Halifax's away form is poor with just one win so far this season. Warrington made the play-offs last season and they are now favourites for the title this time around after their superb start to the season. I wouldn't want to go too much lower, but I think there is value in BetVictor's and Betway's 2/1 on a home win.
    FA Cup Acca
I like 4 odds on shots to win on Saturday. It is hard to see Salford or Torquay failing to beat Marine or Winchester respectively and they both look bankers. Boreham Wood host Dagenham & Redbridge and given how off the pace Dagenham look at the moment it really should be a home win especially given how strong Boreham Wood are at home. The final tie also features two sides from the same division as Weston-Super-Mare host Bath. Weston are still yet to win in the league and they have had a very easy passage to this stage of the competition. It looks a great chance for Bath, who have won 7 out of their last 10 league games, to reach the 1st Round. The acca pays around 4.7/1 with Marathon.
    Dartford v Dulwich
I think Dulwich are a big price at 13/5 for this as I think Dulwich are the better side. Now Dartford have only lost one game in their last 6, but they have beaten East Turrock and Weston who are both in the relegation zone and have only 8 points between them so far this season. They were fortunate to get points against Eastbourne and Billericay and they beat Chippenham last week, but the winner came from their keeper whose kick was helped by the strong wind. Dulwich have really hit their stride now they have got used to the league and have only lost once in their last 6 games, winning their last 3. One of those victories was a win at Woking so going to another of the league's bigger teams won't bother them at all. I think they have a much better chance than their odds of 13/5 with Bet365 suggest.
    Dover 1pt @ 15/8 with Bet365
    Hampton & Richmond 1pt @ 13/4 with Marathon
    Worthing 1pt @ 7/1 with BetVictor
    Met Police 1pt @ 15/4 with Boylesports
Warrington 1pt @ 2/1 with BetVictor and Betway

Good to have a really good Saturday last weekend with 3 of the 4 National League bets landing. Didn't have as much fortune on the FA Cup front but the next round should bring plenty of opportunities on that front next weekend. This Saturday it is Non-League Day and I urge anyone reading this who can go to a game at the weekend to go and do so especially if you haven't been to watch your local team before. I will be watching Billericay v Gloucester and as much as I fully expect my team to lose I am really interested to see Billericay in action especially from an ante-post perspective as I am sure a few of you have got some fancy prices about them. Hopefully it will be a profitable Non-League Day and I have five bets.
Dagenham & Redbridge v Wrexham (National League)
Surely Peter Taylor won't be in the Dagenham hot-seat for too much longer. They had a 4 game unbeaten spell, but apart from that have looked every bit relegation candidates and I don't see Taylor bringing about any improvement and he is the wrong man for the job. Wrexham on the other-hand have their eyes firmly on promotion although I suspect that will be via the play-offs rather than winning the title. Their only defeat in their last 8 games was when I put them up to beat Sutton, but that looks every bit the one off I thought it would be and Dagenham are no Sutton. Skybet are even money if you can get on although the shade of odds on elsewhere is acceptable as well.
    Eastleigh v Aldershot (National League)
Slightly risky to want to back a team who have only picked up one point on their travels this season playing against a team who have won 4 on the bounce and are unbeaten in 6, but I think Aldershot are worth backing here. As I highlighted last week Aldershot are an improving side and they dispatched Halifax without too many worries last weekend. I am hoping that they can continue that on their travels and the fact they got a draw at Hartlepool two weeks ago gives me confidence that they can. Eastleigh lost their manager in the week and it might just upset their good run of form. This could be the perfect time to be playing them and the Aldershot players should be full of confidence at the moment. The 61/25 about an away with Marathon is way too big for me.
    Halifax v Chesterfield (National League)
Yes I am going to oppose Chesterfield again in the live TV game on BT Sport at Saturday teatime. Yet again they are short price favourites away from home and although we didn't get a result in Chesterfield's last two games as they have drawn them they are a stupid price yet again. Now granted Halifax aren't exactly winning football matches either at the moment, but at home only Hartlepool have beaten them so far this term. Either side of that defeat they have drawn against Leyton Orient and AFC Fylde. It has been 8 games since a win, but they have drawn 5 of them. The two 3-0 defeats have both come on their travels and as pointed out above Aldershot are improving fast. Chesterfield have scored just 3 times in their last 10 games which is pretty shocking really and given Halifax have only scored 7 in that time we could be looking at a pretty dull affair (a bit like most of the games BT have chosen this season as they have made some shocking choices), but Halifax are good value 9/4 with Bet 365 to win the game. Some people might want the draw onside, but I think having a small bet on the no goalscorer at 15/2 (Bet 365) and on 1-1 at 11/2 (Betway and BetVictor) is the best way to cover the win bet and if Halifax win 1-0 via an own goal we have hit the jackpot!
    Solihull v Ebbsfleet (National League)
Opposing Ebbsfleet got us a nice profit last weekend and although their away form is better than their home form I am more than happy to take them on again. They have only lost one on their travels, but that came in a heavy 4-1 defeat at Wrexham. Prior to that they had drawn at Dover which sums up their level at the moment. They did beat Dagenham in their last away game, but again that hardly says a lot and this match should be much tougher. Ebbsfleet were poor at home to Harrogate last Saturday and they again continue to look a fair way of the pace. Solihull weren't great themselves last weekend when losing 2-0 at Barnet, but their away performances haven't been as good as their home ones. So far in 7 home games they have conceded just 3 times and lost just the once to Hartlepool. I have put them up in both their last two home victories and I think they can land a 3rd home win on the bounce. 5/4 with William Hill and Betfred looks a big price to me as I would make it an odds on shot.
Chippenham v Dartford (National League South)
As I have mentioned before Dartford look a million miles away from the team who nearly won the league last season, yet they are still being priced up as if they are. They did manage a 1-1 draw against Billericay in their last league away game, but they have lost 3 of their other 5 without scoring a goal and were hammered 4-1 at Oxford City in the FA Cup last Saturday. Again Chippenham are a side who I have written about in recent weeks and although they cost me the FA Cup acca a couple of weeks ago they have been playing well otherwise. They beat Hendon in the FA Cup easily in the week and at home they have won 4 out of five in the league including beating Billericay. Chippenham should be favourites for this and it is crazy that they aren't. BetVictor's 9/5 is a very attractive price.
Wrexham 2.5pts @ Evs with Skybet
    Aldershot 1pt @ 61/25 with Marathon
    Halifax 1pt at 9/4 with Bet365 No goalscorer 0.5pts @ 15/2 with Bet365 and 1-1 @ 11/2 with Betway and BetVictor
Solihull 3pts @ 5/4 with William Hill and Betfred

Saturday was much better and pleasing to get a winning Nap at last with Biggleswade. Enfield did the business with ease and Solihull won with the last kick of the game. There isn't a huge amount of games this week, but I like the look of 3 teams all around the even money mark. Given I fancy them all the same strength I am going to just go with a point treble rather than the 3 singles although feel free to play them how you want.
The first team is Chester who host Hereford. Take away Chester's bizarre 8-1 defeat at Blyth and their 3-1 loss to Telford (came after two weeks off so they were rusty), then Chester have been mainly very good so far this season. Saturday they drew 0-0 with a Chorley side still flying at the top of the table and they now host a mangerless Hereford who have only picked up 1 point in their last 6 games. They did come from behind to beat Truro in the FA Cup, but then lost 3-0 to Spennymoor on Saturday. It is hard to see them getting much out of this match and they aren't in a great shape on the pitch at the moment. For some reason Chester are drifiting, but they should be odds on given how these two sides are playing at the moment.
The other two teams both come from the Evo-Stik Northern Premier. Grantham have won 4 of their last 5 and their only dropped points in that spell came when I tipped them up to beat North Ferriby and they blew a 2 goal lead! They have only lost once in the league so far this season and got a 90th minute winner against Whitby on Saturday. Hednesford aren't in great form at the moment having lost 3 of their last 4 and their only win coming against a poor Workington side.
Warrington look a solid bet to see off Mickleover Sports. Warrington went so well last season finishing in 3rd place and I wondered if they would be able to repeat that, but they went to the top of the table after beating ante-post favourites South Shields 3-0 on Saturday. That made it five wins on the bounce and their only defeat came on the opening day of the season. Mickleover's two wins this season have come against North Ferriby and Hednesford which pretty much sums up how good they are. The only danger for me is if Warrington allow their standards to drop after such a good win at the weekend, but they should win this and they should be shorter than a shade of odds on to do so.
The treble pays 6.8/1 with BetVictor.

Got to get back to winning ways on Tuesday after what has been a pretty tough month. Even on Tuesday we still had a very late goal go against which stopped the double from landing. Hopefully we can end the month on a high and I have 5 bets.
Havant & Waterlooville v Solihull Moors (National League)
Solihull's away form doesn't quite match the heights of their home form as they have lost 3 and won 3. However those loses came against Fylde, Harrogate and Leyton Orient so you can hardly knock them for losing those games. They have beaten Eastleigh, Barrow and Dover and Saturday's trip is hardly any harder than those. Havant did stop us from landing the double on Tuesday night, but they are still struggling to win games. Their home form isn't terrible, but Solihull are in really good form at the moment and I think they should be favourites for this game so am happy to take Betway's 15/8. I suspect Solihull will continue to be under estimated by the bookies and unless their form takes a turn for the worse then they are likely to remain a decent value bet.
Leyton Orient v Sutton (National League)
I Tweeted on Tuesday that I think the league will be between Salford and Leyton Orient now. Both sides look a cut above the rest of the league at the moment and crucially neither side are really dropping silly points unlike the teams around them. Sutton have had a very strange last 3 results and how on earth they allowed a terrible Dover to come back from 2 down with 10 men I just don't know. Orient are still yet to lose and I would have them around 4/6 for this game so the even money (Marathon and William Hill) is certainly worth taking. I have been really impressed with the way Orient have been putting away sides of late and in 5 of their last 7 games they have scored at least 3 goals. That is really impressive and I think they can add another 3 points on Saturday.
    Maidstone v Chesterfield (National League)
Gary Waddock said that he had never seen such a one sided game that a team has lost after his Aldershot side lost to Maidstone on Tuesday night. It seems new Maidstone manager Harry Wheeler had a game plan of making them really hard to break down and they managed to sneak a goal to win the game 1-0. That is two 1-0 away wins on the bounce for Maidstone and they should make things very hard for a badly out of form Chesterfield back on their own pitch. I was surprised Martin Allen didn't either walk away or get the sack after the 3-1 defeat to Maidenhead on Tuesday. I see no reason to not carry on opposing them especially when they have been put in as favourites again which makes little sense to me, but again it is bookies using the big team mentality instead of what is actually happening on the pitch. Marathon are 9/4 about a home win.
Biggleswade v Redditch (Southern Premier Central)
The best bet of the weekend for me is the home side. Biggleswade are still unbeaten in the league and although they have drawn 5 of their 7 games they have started the season in really good shape. The only downside so far is the fact they surprisingly lost to Chesham in the FA Cup, but what that did mean was they didn't have a game last weekend so have had a bit of extra rest coming into this fixture. Redditch seem in a right mess off the field. Ex manager Paul Davies came out in the press saying that he had to beg players to play in what turned out to be his final game in charge when they lost 5-1 to Coalville. It seems the players hadn't been paid and the chairman certainly seems to be ruining the club. Former assistant Paul Smith has now been given the job and although he has done well at a lower level, this is the first time has been in charge of a side at this high a level. He lost 2-0 to Stratford in his first game in charge and although he has brought in 5 players since he took charge they still don't look a great squad. The home side are 24/25 wuth Marathon and that price looks very fair.
Corinthian Casuals v Enfield Town (Bostik Premier)
I have been really pleased with Enfield's start to the season given I put them up at a big price ante-post. They sit in 3rd place at the moment and they should be able to stay up there. In their last league game a couple of weeks ago they came from 2 down to Lewes to draw 2-2. Both goals came from Billy Bricknell who came of the bench as he was coming back from injury. They are unbeaten in the league still and should be able to beat Corinthian Casuals who are finding themselves a bit outclassed. They won their first league of the season last time, but that came against Harlow who are one off the bottom. Their other 2 points have come against teams around them in the table as well and I think they will continue to struggle against the better sides in the league. Marathon go 143/100 about an away win and that looks a good price.

Saturday was a bit more like it with a superb win for Solihull although Wrexham decided to put in what will probably be their worst performance of the season. The acca was only just denied by an 88th minute equaliser as well. Tuesday sees a full National League fixture list as well as a handful of Evo-Stik Northern Prem games and the FA Cup replays.
    Chesterfield v Maidenhead
It looks a trappy night in the National League as there are teams I would love to oppose but some of them are playing each other or the opposition are too short (Aldershot being an example of the latter). I have out Chesterfield up a couple of times during this dreadful run they are on, but they are still winless since winning their first 3 games. They were shocking on Saturday when losing 3-0 to Gateshead at home where they managed just 2 shots during the match. Martin Allen claimed it was the worst performance from any team that he has managed and it wouldn't surprise me if that was true. He has come out and said they have had a meeting with the players and he hopes to get a response from them on Tuesday night. It might happen, but you have to wonder if Allen is actually capable of getting the best out of his players and I wouldn't even go as far to say if they lost this he won't be in the job after the game. Maidenhead's away form does concern me as they have only won once and lost 4 of the other 5 including at Barrow on Saturday. The win was against Braintree and the draw was against Dagenham so that isn't great, but they played well enough on Saturday and I think Alan Devonshire's men will smell blood here. One thing that does worry me is the amount of travelling they will have to do, but I think it's factored into the price and I am happy to take 15/4 about an away win which for me should be shorter.
Barnet v Havant and Solihull v Dagenham
Solihull were superb on Saturday to beat Bromley 5-0 and they now face a struggling Dagenham side who looked awful at Eastleigh on Saturday in the live game. I can't see Peter Taylor being in the job for too much longer as I imagine the new owners will want to get their own man in who can build a better team than the one they have. As mentioned on Saturday Solihull are very strong at home and are making a mockery of their favourites to go down tag. Barnet are in good form at the moment after a slow start to the season and their only loss of late was against top of the table Leyton Orient and even then they held their own for a long period of the match. I think their injury list told that day and they were good on Saturday when drawing against Fylde. Havant got a draw at Ebbsfleet, but the home side under performed again and I'm not sure it says a great deal. I do get the feeling it will click for them at some point, but it is hard to see it being at Barnet who are playing with plenty of confidence at the moment. Both Barnet and Solihull are around about the same price and the double with Marathon pays 5/2 and that looks a decent price.

A profit on Tuesday, but if only Grantham could have held on to their 2 goal advantage against North Ferriby then it would have been a solid evening's work. To be fair North Ferriby sounded like they deserved a point and it seems I have backed against them in the two games they have played well this season! Anyway onto Saturday and I have 5 bets for the day's action.
    Hartlepool v Eastleigh (National League)
Hartlepool have won 5 of their last 6 games and of course I managed to put them up in the one game they failed to win in that spell. Even so they have lost just once so far this season and although it could be argued they have had a fairly kind fixture list on the whole, they are looking a better side than last season. I think there is just enough value in backing them here as 1 goal could well be enough. Eastleigh have only scored 7 goals all season and have now gone 4 games without scoring. They are in 19th place and you have to wonder if we may see yet another managerial change at the club should things continue on that front. There was more promise from them on Saturday when drawing 0-0 with Fylde, but again they missed some good chances and could only get 2 shots on target. I wouldn't want to go chasing the price down too much, but they should be odds on so a shade of odds against at 101/100 with Marathon is worth taking as my only bet in the division on Saturday.
Eastbourne v Slough (National League South)
I was told about the price on Eastbourne earlier in the week and my first response was that it sounds like they have the prices the wrong way round, because Slough should be 9/4 not Eastbourne. Obviously Eastbourne should have been winners for us last week, but hopefully they can make amends here and get us our money back with interest. What I am about to write is fairly similar to last week. Eastbourne are 4th having lost just once all season (to leaders Woking) and are clearly looking a very different side from the one that nearly went down last season. They are 6 places above Slough and 2 points clear of them, yet somehow Bet365 are 9/4 about them beating them at home. I mean how is that possible? Slough are certainly no mugs and have had a solid start to life at this level, but I would love to know how the bookmakers can make them favourites let alone as strong favourites as they are. They have won their last two and beat Oxford City easily last week, but this should be a much harder game. Even as I look at the prices now I am still thinking that the bookies think Slough are at home and Eastbourne are away and even then I would still make Eastbourne a value bet. It is a crazy price and like I say hopefully Eastbourne can get the 3 points this week.
St Albans v Concord Rangers (National League South)
I nearly put Concord up as a bet again last week as I thought they could bounce back from their two surprisingly heavy defeats and although they didn't win they did get a deserved point against league leaders Woking. Given St Albans have conceded 17 and scored 19 we could be on for a bit of a goalfest here. St Albans have won their last 2 games, but needed a dramatic 3 goals in the last 2 minutes to beat an East Thurrock side who had only scored 3 goals prior to the match. I know Concord haven't won in 4, but two good draws have been either side of the heavy losses and I think they are a better side than St Albans. 63/20 looks a huge price to me about an away win and Concord owe us one that's for sure.
Truro v Hampton & Richmond (National League South)
This is a risky bet, but I think there is value in backing the home side. Hampton have won 5 of their last 6 games and that is a run of form that has seen them climb to 3rd in the table. It has surprised me, but it is hard to knock them at the moment given their performances. I do though think we can take them on on Saturday. I thought it might take time for the new management team to sort Truro out, but they had an instant impact last week when they ran out comfortable winners against Gloucester. They put in a decent performance and it seems the players want to play for the new manager. Like I say it is taking a chance, but at 100/30 I think there is certainly value to be had.
Bradford Park Avenue v Altrincham (National League North)
Bradford have carried on from last season when they reached the play-offs as they currently sit in 3rd place at the moment. They have lost just twice all season and although they will be disappointed to have lost 5-3 to Chester last time out I think they can bounce back from that here. Altrincham have only won twice all season and they have lost 4 of their last 6 with their only win in that spell coming against a struggling Darlington side. They have quite a few injury issues as well which isn't helping and they were well beaten last Saturday by Curzon. I would make Bradford shorter than 6/4 (Marathon) to get back to winning ways.

Saturday wasn't great with only 2 winners although if Eastbourne could have held on it would have been a more manageable lost. The only full league fixture list this week is the Evo-Stik Northern Premier and a couple of teams look betting propositions.
    Hyde v Warrington
Warrington did really well last season making the play-offs. They had a few squad changes over the summer and I wasn't sure they could reach the heights of last season, but since losing their opening game of the season they have been unbeaten since. They had an easy 4-0 FA Cup win over Burscough on Saturday and they look like they can pick up another victory here. Hyde won promotion last season, but have been struggling a little to adjust back to life at this level. They have only picked up one win against Basford so far and had a poor loss to Colne in the FA Cup on Saturday.I think the 13/8 with BetVictor and Skybet looks a fair price on an away win.
    North Ferriby v Grantham
I still have no idea how North Ferriby beat South Shields 3-0 on Bank Holiday Monday. Since then they have lost 5-0 to Warrington, 3-1 to Scarborough and were dumped out of the FA Cup on Saturday when Dunston (2 levels below) beat them 4-1. That South Shields win really does stick out like a sore thumb compared to the rest of their results and Grantham look a decent price to beat them on Tuesday night. Grantham are having another decent season and have suffered just one defeat so far. They edged past Daventry in the FA Cup on Saturday and they are certainly a better team than their hosts. Let's just hope they can show it on the pitch unlike South Shield. BetVictor's 8/5 looks a good price.
