  1. Re: Champions League T20 Good luck Charlie that sounds good to me :) One I have seen that could be of interest, Lahore most match Sixes, 6/4 bet365. Lahore need a big NRR-boosting win to have any hope of qualifying, so bat 1st or 2nd they'll surely go for it as best they can. Main reservation is probably about their ability to execute - Shahzad, Akmal are big hitters but after that not sure ? Perth bowlers also decent enough; maybe they chuck in the towel now they are out, maybe not. Marsh and Simmons (plus NCN of course) can also cause devastation and two of Lions' bowlers have had their actions reported in this comp so perhaps their confidence might be dented ? Still though, I remember Mumbai were in an identical position last year and easily won the sixes matchbet on that occasion (against Perth no less), and there is enough in the price here to make it worth considering I feel. Cheers all.

  2. Re: Champions League T20 Top Kings XI Punjab bowler: Akshar Patel, 4/1 bet365. Possibly a wee bit of value here. Have just been reading Mitchell Johnson has a rib injury and will not be available for the start of the tourney; not currently clear when he will be released to Kings XI, if at all. Bet365 have MJ chalked up as even money favourite in this market. Akshar Patel and Johnson both took 17 IPL wickets this year. The only player to take more for Punjab was Sandeep Sharma (18), but he is not listed in their CLT20 squad so it looks like he may not feature. And more recently, Patel has just taken 9 wickets in the A Team quadrangular in Australia last month. Only one Indian took more. The next nearest Kings XI player was Rishi Dhawan with 5 (albeit from two fewer matches). He's only a young lad but overall is hopefully worthy of a small punt in the circumstances. Cheers.

  3. Re: Champions League T20 Good luck mate :) I too like the look of the Cobras at the price. Am also one of those who put a couple of quid on Lahore, I don't expect to see a return but the odds didn't match the quality of their personnel as far as I could tell. Couple of top team batsmen I have taken: Hobart: Shoaib Malik, 5/1 Stan James Thought he was terrific in CPL. Didn't have a great Big Bash but that is a while ago now and I think he has a good chance if he bats 3/4 again for Hobart and carries Barbados form. Dunk has tasted Indian conditions from IPL this year but it will be newer thing for the likes of Paine, Birt etc and hopefully experience will tell. Barbados: Shane Dowrich, 10/1 Coral He is not the best batsman on the circuit from what I've seen, but he did open with Dwayne Smith in the CPL which makes him a handy price if he does so again. Particularly with the absence of Smith, Pollard and Malik diminishing the opposition. Have actually just seen Corals have brought the price in but I think the logic still holds at current odds. Good luck :ok

  4. Re: NatWest T20 Blast

Was at Lords today. Very good crowd considering Arsenal were in the Cup final. All bodes well if the weather stays good. Sunday preview: 4pts Surrey to beat Somerset 5/4 Stan James I think Surrey have every chance in this match. I’m massive on bowlers winning T20 matches and Surrey have a good attack for this competition. Somerset’s attack looks a little on the light side for me and they miss a batsman or two as well if they lose a couple early on in their innings so I think Surrey are the better balanced side. They have some real big hitters of their own and they look a touch of value at 5/4 to me. Caught a bit on TV, looked like a good occasion. Nice start from Essex. Was it me or did one of the boundaries seem very short ? Have to keep an eye on the sixes lines for future matches at Lords.
  5. Re: NatWest T20 Blast

TV game preview: 4pts Nottinghamshire vs Lancashire - Over 35.5 boundaries 5/6 William Hill I think we’ll get a high scoring game here. The ECB have made it clear to counties that poor wickets won’t be tolerated in this competition and as we’ve had some good weather this week the Trent Bridge track should be full of runs. With the ground likely to be fast and the boundaries to the New Stand small I would expect two quality and lengthy batting line ups to deliver more than 35.5 boundaries here. Full preview here: http://www.punterslounge.com/nottinghamshire-vs-lancashire-betting-expect-the-trent-bridge-boundaries-to-be-peppered
I think Notts were subject to a pitch inspection for their last CC game at Trent Bridge, the game finished in about three days ? Hopefully means they have turned it into a batsman's paradise for you in response. Good luck with all these. I like the Worcs Pears shout from both you guys tonight. Am also on Essex for the outright, like you Kev i think the make-up of their side is very good. Hopefully Jesse Ryder doesn't end up in disgrace in a Chelmsford boozer ! Seen a few articles on the importance of this new format for the domestic game, hope it's a success this year for the counties and us punters alike.
  6. Re: County Championship 2014 Good luck this week Kev and Fishy. I've had small play on Sussex x Yorks double, 2.80 skybet. Sussex look bang on it, 2 wins this season. Ciders have managed two draws, i think they might have a tough season in 2014. Sssx look stronger just now in my humble opinion. Yorks also look solid, massive win vs Nants last week and now Root available again to augment a decent order. I wouldn't like to dismiss Middx, people like Robson and Finn are on it. However Yorks I believe won at HQ last season and look like they have enough belief to do so again. Prices were perhaps a bit thin but let's see how we go. Think weather not great for next couple of days so it might be draws again for us. Best of luck :)

  7. Re: County Championship 2014

First match bets of the season. Remember all match bets in the CC are DNB. 4pts Sussex to beat Middlesex 10/11 Bet365 I like Sussex in this match. Admittedly it is a blow that Chris Jordan is being rested by England but Steve Magoffin is back in the squad and James Anyon and Lewis Hatchett go into the season in good form. The positive is this isn't the strongest batting line up which could be opposing them. Middlesex are very good in the top three but unless Eoin Morgan does something in the middle order that area looks very light for the side from the capital. Morgan's record in First-class cricket isn't overwhelming so there's enough to suggest Sussex have enough with the ball to get through Middlesex here. Sussex have much the stronger looking batting line up with Ed Joyce and Matt Prior both available for this match. The likes of Luke Wells, Michael Yardy and Hamilton-Brown can all score well with the bat although they'll need to against a decent Middlesex attack. Overall though I think Sussex have the stronger looking all round side here and should be slightly bigger favourites than they are. 3pts Glamorgan to beat Surrey 2/1 Bet365 I'm going to try not to take Surrey on all season long but I can't resist a little dabble on the Welsh side here. Glamorgan are a side on the up and I expect them to improve on last season whereas we won't really know where Surrey are until after this match. One thing I am confident with is that this is a good time to take Surrey on. Everyone will still be a little rusty and if you take Graeme Smith out of their batting line up it looks very young. Glamorgan have plenty of batting depth and in Michael Hogan they have one of the bowlers of the division and he arrives here in good form. Even Surrey's bowling has a youthful element to it aside from Tremlett so all in all it could pay to side with the progressive more experienced Welsh outfit in the season opener.
Well done on Glamorgan gents, and Kev on Sussex :ok 98 for Mr Evans as well, I see ( shame none of them count towards our bets ! ) Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  8. Re: ICC World T20 2014

Tournament preview: 3pts ew Sri Lanka to win World T20 6/1 Bet365 (1/2 1-2) For me Sri Lanka look the pick of the outright market at 6/1. They have excellent players with spin in their line up and they have players who can win games in an instant with the bat. Their wide range of spinners should help them in the tournament and then with the dynamite Lasith Malinga in their ranks too they have the gun man of the tournament. Sri Lanka were runners up last time out in this tournament and with the group they have been given they look excellent value at 6/1. 9. Re: County Championship 2014 Best of luck Kev and Travis. Madsen looks like a very good call. I've had a few coins e/ w on Jaik Mickelburgh for Div 2 runs at 33/1, 850-ish in only 13 matches last year, looks a talented lad and could feature in the places if he kicks on. Madsen does look the one to beat though. i've also gone for Laurie Evans top Div 1 runs at 33/1, he was impressive last season and, if Warks are to go well with Troughton, Bell and (presumably) Trott absent at various times, he could feature if he can maintain form. Finishing top probably a big ask. I'll be delighted if your Kent prediction turns out to be correct Kev ! Bollinger could be a good signing, hopefully he avoids substitute duty for Aus over the summer. Notts do look solid this year don't they, will be surprising if they are not shaking the tree for some silverware come the autumn. Good luck guys :)

  10. Re: ICC World T20 2014

Catches win matches :sad. Tuesday previews: 3pts I.Ahmed's Performance Pts - 30&Over 5/6 Bet365 I took Irfan Ahmed’s performance in the first game and he didn’t really deliver although he bowled quite well without too much luck and I think he is worth sticking with here. He will bowl a tidy four overs against a batting line up who take risks and get after the bowling and then he’ll open the batting against a quicker new ball pairing which should come on to his bat better. Once again 30pts doesn’t look a big total and I’ll take him to put in a better showing and cover that. Full preview here: http://www.punterslounge.com/afghanistan-vs-hong-kong-betting-irfan-ahmed-can-perform-to-expectations-in-second-game 4pts S.al-Hasan's Performance Pts - 50&Over 5/6 Bet365 It is hard to look beyond Bangladesh in this match but I swore a long time ago that I wouldn’t be betting on them for a while given their inconsistent nature. One man I’m always happy to bet on is Shakib-al-Hasan. He’s a class act whichever format of the game he is playing and whoever he’s playing against. He has a performance line of 50 in this match and given that he covered that with the ball in the last game and is more than capable of covering it with the bat too I’ll stay on Shakib’s side here. Full preview here: http://www.punterslounge.com/bangladesh-vs-nepal-betting-shakib-al-hasan-can-inspire-bangladesh-once-again
Very unlucky today mate, at least one awful drop off Irfan that i saw and then 3 short for Shakib despite a classic knock. Hope for better luck tomorrow :) Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  11. Re: ICC World T20 2014 Just further to above, just seen Ireland are a lot shorter than when i last looked - 13/8 now best with corals. Maybe that is still ok; Zimbabwe got beaten by hong kong today in warm up. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

  12. Re: ICC World T20 2014 I think this is a hard one to figure out - many imponderables. I took a price of 16/1 on New Zealand before their ODI series with India. Even at that point they seemed like a cricketing nation on the up, recalling Otago's run in the Champions League last year for example. I like their batting order (although Jesse Ryder has ruled himself out now, silly boy), decent all-rounders like Neesham and Anderson and a high-quality seam attack who work well together. I think Mitchell McClenaghan could do good things in this comp for NZ, he is an imposing chap and his recent ODI stats are impressive. In the interests of balance, without Dan Vettori they lack a real top drawer spinner, which will hamper them in BD. McNathan is 'decent', and Kane Williamson can bowl tidy offspin, but these are not Ajmal or Narine, with respect. The Kiwis also have an abject recent white ball record in BD, against BD, and i guess you have to be prepared to look past that to consider them a good bet. They do have most of their team in good nick at the moment though, they are confident and have a captain i really like in BBMac. I think it is an interesting debate to have about whether they are a good bet at 10/1 now. I still fancy them to do something. West Indies also look like they are finding form at the right time. Think they had lost five or six t20s in a row including that defeat to Ireland, but have strung together a sequence now. Their batting depth and power is terrifying, genuine hitters all the way down to 8 against England yesterday. Plenty of bowling options as well, especially if Narine's knee is ok. Pollard a miss mind you. Aussies look a solid proposition, but at 4/1 you might argue they are a bit short on subcontinental soil. As you say, you can make a case for a number of teams - hard one to call. Whoever you pick, best of luck :) I have had an e/w nibble on Marlon Samuels top tournament runscorer at 50/1 ( paddy, 1/4 odds 1-4 ). His touch looks good enough given he's still coming back from injury, first drop in a team that could go deep so he has a chance of some decent crease time. He was 3rd on the runs chart in the 2012 world t20 and, whilst you could make a case for 20 or more guys, i think this looks a nice price for a player of his quality. Ireland to win their qualifying pool is another one I've taken, 2/1 on bet365 (think they might have shortened slightly in the last couple of days). Their commitment levels and motivation can never be doubted in these ICC comps, they have a point to prove. They walked the qualifying tournament in November and have that win against the Windies to give them a boost at the right time (that was a slightly understrength and rusty WI side though, to be fair, but they are still entitled to take encouragement from the result). Trent Johnson will be missed but they do still have some genuine quality, and guys like Stirling and K O'Brien have experience of playing in BD from last year's BPL. Zimbabwe are the threat in that pool, but I'm sure others will have read about the terrible state of cricket in that country. The players were on strike for some time, and while things have started to improve recently, you have to wonder what sort of state of mind these guys will be in. Not to mention the lack of competitive match practice in this format. I may be calling this all wrong but my instincts tell me this is quite a decent bet. Ireland have almost twice as many ICC T20 rating points as Zimbabwe ( 91 vs 46 - http://www.espncricinfo.com/rankings/content/page/211271.html ). Anyway, best of luck to everyone and hopefully it will be a good and exciting comp. :ok

  13. Re: West Indies vs England - ODI Series & T20 Series

Always a good plan to give Gayle and Smith a bit of a kickstart by bowling pace on a wicket that doesn't suit them at all. I do wonder what these hoards of analysts are being paid to do when they clearly weren't paying attention to the 20 overs that just happened.
Spot on, mate. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  14. Re: West Indies vs England - ODI Series & T20 Series

Top England Series Batsman preview: 2pts J.Root Top England Series Batsman 5/1 Bet365 One man who bats in a good position is Joe Root. Root had a shocking tour of Australia but we all know he’s a whole lot better than that and I think this format should bring the best of his game back out, especially with the players around him taking the pressure off him by scoring so quickly. Along with Morgan, Root is probably the best player of spin in this side and given that he bats above Morgan and has a confidence boosting ton in the warm up game behind him I like the Yorkshire youngster in this series. 15. Re: Asia Cup That was a nice start wasn't it ! Although i understand he injured his shoulder fielding, believe he went off the field. Got a scan today according to cricinfo, have to keep fingers x-ed he is ok. Good luck with Boom Boom. I did consider Ajmal top wicket taker, following a similar line of thinking around top-grade spinners causing these guys problems, but in the end passed that one over. Hopefully Hafeez can also put up some runs for you. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

  16. Re: Asia Cup Kev I think you are spot on regarding Mushfiqur mate. He is someone I rate really highly, even more so since he hit that double ton against Sri Lanka last year. Has got that Misbah-sort-of-quality of being consistent and less susceptible to brain fade at the wrong moment than his teammates. Was top runscorer for Bangladesh in the ODI series vs SL just finished and second-top in the NZ series before Christmas. I know players like Mominul Haque and Shamsur Rahman have been in the runs but I think this is a cracking bet at 9/2, especially absent Tamim and Shakib. I feel the cream rises in international tournament cricket, and this guy is it for Bangladesh. I went round in circles trying to solve the tournament winner puzzle, with no real success. Pakistan 7/2 after today's game, there could be some value in that because they have Afghanistan next up and without taking anything for granted that could be points on the board, all their top 6 got starts to some degree today and perhaps they can kick on. They lost one of their matches ( v India ) in the previous edition of this comp and still went in to win it. The big unknown is what India turns up, Dhoni leaves a hole of course but apparently Kholi has won 7 of 8 matches as stand in skipper. So many imponderables. Wish you, and everyone else, the best of luck. :)

  17. Re: New Zealand vs India ODI series

Top India series bat preview: 3pts V.Kohli Top India Series Batsman 11/4 William Hill It is fairly original but I like Virat Kohli here. For me he is the best batsman in the world in this format of the game and he does it in India and away from India to equal effect. He can play shots all around the wicket and plays seam and spin equally as effectively and unlike some of his colleagues he has no problem playing the short ball either. Even at 11/4 I think there’s enough value in Kohli showing why he is such a class act in this series. Full preview here: http://www.punterslounge.com/new-zealand-vs-india-odi-series-betting-virat-kohli-can-continue-his-good-form-in-new-zealand
Very nice start there Kev :)

Sheesh Marshy that is criminally bad luck. Very unlucky mate :sad.
Thanks, guys. Crikey that was close, what a cruel business it can be sometimes. From what I read he basically ran himself out - derp !! In better news, it was great that Perth finished the job - congrats to those who were on that. :) The side that lined up today look decent, think they will miss Shaun Marsh and Coulter-Nile when they trot off for the one-dayers.
