  1. Re: Spain v Italy > The Final > 1 July

Yup footbal can be a harsh mistress, I think the bookies have a dead-heat system so anybody who bet on anybody on 3 goals may still get a payout but not on the whole stake. It is divided by 6 (scorers who hit 3) and paid out on that. I am just checking whether or not they will honour this as they actually told me yesterday this would happen... If so at least I get another £140ish quid to offset the losing bets from today, but I must say I am a bit sad after that game. Spain certainly deserved their win, but I don't think Italy deserved to get humped for 4 with 10 in the manner that they did. Harsh...
Yeah dead heat rules applies for top goalscorer, so the stake will be divided by 6. Torres winning the Golden Boot was quite unexpected though, just 189 minutes played!

I too believe there is value at Italy outright [email protected] and Italy to [email protected]. For the match specifically I chose to go for [email protected] which imho is a little gift. I think the game will be open with plenty of chances either side. Whatever happens, I'll enjoy the match I have antepost finalists Spain-Germany@8 and Spain-Italy@19. according to my projections these were the two most likely finals, luckily it went my way
    Looking sweet :nana
  3. Re: Germany v Italy > June 28 Official Lineups Kroos preferred to Mueller. Abate on the bench, Balzaretti (left back) preferred to play on the right. Puzzling.. Germany (4-2-3-1): Neuer; J. Boateng, Hummels, Badstuber, Lahm; Khedira, Schweinsteiger; Kroos, Ozil, Podolski; Gomez. Italia (4-3-1-2): Buffon; Balzaretti, Barzagli, Bonucci, Chiellini; Marchisio, Pirlo, De Rossi; Montolivo; Cassano, Balotelli. Source: UEFA website

  4. Re: Germany v Italy > June 28

Thanks for the heads up, I know he recently had heart surgery and was a doubt but has played since then. I really hope he does start as he is their best goalscorer and goal threat who can last 90mins. Di Natale is lethal too but he can't do more than about 25mins at pace. Balotelli I just don't trust enough to back with my own cash and Pirlo only scores free kicks. Where did you hear the Diamante rumour? I may have to look into that more than, if Cassano doesn't start since it would affect my own odds of Italy scoring
From various Italian media. 5. Re: Germany v Italy > June 28

Let's hope so, who do you see scoring these goals? I have Cassano, Di Natale, Marchisio then Balotelli as their main goal threats in that order, though I think they will find it difficult to score more than once and as a result will need to make sure they keep a clean sheet to win it in the 90mins. Pirlo might score if he gets a free kick though I am certain Germany will be careful not to allow him this and will try to mark him out the game, so it's all about Marchisio runs and either Di Natale or Cassano to tap the chance in when it arrives. No margin for error. Germany are very threatening, though I think Italy have the better ball players this doesn't always translate into wins for them. They should have beaten Spain comfortably, and England so whilst I back them to win here I am in no way certain of the victory and I am well aware that the Germans are highly fancied by just about everybody else to win big here. 1-0 Italy + Cassano 45/1 the odds also reflect this view and I expect them to shorten a bit but not massively leading up to kick off.
Cassano is actually rumoured not to start the game, in favour of Diamanti. In training he was seen as very unhappy and not playing with the usual verve. Could be because he was told that he won't be starting the game by Prandelli. Besides, he's not in the greatest condition. I would wait for further news before putting money on Cassano.
  6. Re: Portugal v Spain > June 27

Yeh very strange' date=' well i expect them to credit my account asap and hope they dont try and pull any shady stuff, dont have the confidence i do in them compares to a Betfair, Bet365 etc[/quote'] I think they are basing it on the first figures UEFA published where for some reason Portgual had 55%, but now that its been corrected by UEFA, they should correct it as well. Hopefully they will credit you soon.
  7. Re: Portugal v Spain > June 27

Errrm did anybody do the Spain more possession bet at Bwin??? They are trying to say Portugal (Team 1) had more possession!!! What kind of joke is this??
It's weird because when the match ended the UEFA website gave these figures for possession: Portugal 55% and Spain 45%. I remember distinctly because I was about to post about it, as Soccerway had different figures: Portgual 43% Spain 57%. However, now it's been corrected to Portugal 43% and Spain 57% http://www.uefa.com/uefaeuro/season=2012/matches/live/index.html?day=8&session=1&match=2003378

  9. Re: Germany v Italy > June 28

I can understand anyone thinking that any side can be knocked out in a cup game by a lesser team (the Champions League is a recent reminder of that) but I'm amazed to hear that there are actually people who believe that Italy are better than Germany:loon I found this particularly amusing I can only think you may have just been released from a long stay in prison and are harping back to the old days when Italy were a good team. The two best teams? Switch on your TV tonight and you will see two better teams than Italy in one go. Germany have won (that's "won", not "managed to scrape a boring draw and hope to go through with a scrappy ET goal or penalties") their last 15 competitive games or something. Italy have managed to win just TWO of their last six - and those were against the absolute shambles from both sides of the Irish border. I see a boring game ahead. I hope there's an early goal or we may be looking at only the second 0-0 game in the tournament so far.
It will be very difficult for Germany-Italy to be more boring this match...two attacking teams, great rivalry and history...I mean Portgual-Spain doesn't exactly shout excitement, does it? I think for the first time in the history of the Euro tournament there were empty seats in a semifinal...I personally struggled to stay awake, could be because I didn't have any bets on this game though..
  10. Re: Croatia v Spain June 18th Just thought it could be useful to post the various permutations again here, showing all the possibile outcomes If Italy wins and.. if Croatia wins -> 1° Croatia, 2° Italy if Spain wins -> 1° Spain, 2° Italy if Croatia-Spain 0-0 -> 1° Italy, 2° Spain if Croatia-Spain 1-1 and Italy wins by at least four goals starting from 5-1 (6-2, 7-3 etc.) -> 1° Italy, 2° Spain if Croatia-Spain 1-1 and Italy wins by at least two goals starting from 3-1 (4-2, 5-3 etc.) -> 1° Spain, 2° Italy if Croatia-Spain 1-1 and Italy wins 2-0 or by less than two goals (1-0, 2-1, 3-2 etc.) -> 1° Spain, 2° Croatia if Croatia-Spain 2-2, 3-3, 4-4 etc. -> 1° Spain, 2° Croatia If Italy doesn't win and... if Croatia wins -> 1° Croatia, 2° Spain if Spain wins -> 1° Spain, 2° Croatia if Croatia-Spain draw -> 1° Spain, 2° Croatia

  11. Re: So what's with the Spain v Croatia game then? If Italy wins and.. if Croatia wins -> 1° Croatia, 2° Italy if Spain wins -> 1° Spain, 2° Italy if Croatia-Spain 0-0 -> 1° Italy, 2° Spain if Croatia-Spain 1-1 and Italy wins by at least four goals starting from 5-1 (6-2, 7-3 etc.) -> 1° Italy, 2° Spain if Croatia-Spain 1-1 and Italy wins by at least two goals starting from 3-1 (4-2, 5-3 etc.) -> 1° Spain, 2° Italy if Croatia-Spain 1-1 and Italy wins 2-0 or by less than two goals (1-0, 2-1, 3-2 etc.) -> 1° Spain, 2° Croatia if Croatia-Spain 2-2, 3-3, 4-4 etc. -> 1° Spain, 2° Croatia If Italy doesn't win and... if Croatia wins -> 1° Croatia, 2° Spain if Spain wins -> 1° Spain, 2° Croatia if Croatia-Spain draw -> 1° Spain, 2° Croatia

  12. Re: Italy v Croatia - June 14 So you are saying 2-2 was fixed? Do you have evidence proving this? Or was it just a case that they were both satisfied once the scoreline was 2-2? 2-2 was the most probable result becuase both teams would have qualified, not because it was fixed. I can assure you that if the bookies have just a whiff of a possibile match fixing, they would close the market for that match immediately.

  13. Re: Italy v Croatia - June 14 Denmark-Sweden wasn't set up. It still finished 2-2. People seem to think there must be sort of an agreement or meeting in some underground parking lot for a score to happen. If the score is, for example, Spain 2 Croatia 1, and Croatia gets the equaliser at say the 85th minute, do you really think that the Spaniards will go all hellbent on trying to get the 3rd goal, risking the counterattack? No, they will pass the ball to each other till the final whistle. We have a precedent, Denmark-Sweden, why don't we try to learn from this match? It was played fair and square then Sweden managed to get a late equaliser at the 89th minute. Did Denmark go ape **** on trying to get the 3rd goal? No, they passed the ball amongst their defenders for 5 full minutes. What i'm trying to say is, it's obvious that they won't fix the match, and if Spain is 3-0 up, they won't just let Croatia score 3 goals, but if the score happens to be 2-2 late in the game, it will stay that way. That being said, I'm just waiting for my book to quote Spain first and Croatia second. Even if it doesn't finish 2-2 (or higher), highly doubt Italy will score more than three goals against Ireland. (Goal difference is considered if the match finishes 1-1 and Italy wins).

  14. Re: Italy v Croatia - June 14 Yes, if all three games finish 1-1, global goal difference is then considered. However, it is reasonable to think that if Italy-Croatia finishes 1-1, Spain-Croatia will finish 2-2. They are not stupid, they know that Italy will be playing against a demotivated Ireland that will try to score as many goals as possibile. This is what happened in Euro 2004 where a 2-2 draw between Sweden and Denmark was neccessary for both of them to qualify. We all know how the game finished..

  15. Re: Italy v Croatia - June 14 It's not hard to understand. Italy-Spain 1-1 Italy-Croatia 0-0 Spain-Croatia 2-2 Italy goals scored 1. Croatia goals scored 2. Spain goals scored 3. Spain and Croatia go through. Italy-Spain 1-1 Italy-Croatia 1-1 Spain-Croatia 2-2 Italy goals scored 2. Croatia goals scored 3. Spain goals scored 3. Spain and Croatia go through.

  16. Re: Italy v Croatia - June 14

agreed' date=' we are saying if Italy and Croatia draw and both end up with 5pts at then end, then they will look at the Ireland and Spain matches goals?[/quote'] No, the goals scored against Ireland will not be considered. Only the goals scored in Italy-Spain, Italy-Croatia and Spain-Croatia will be considered if all three teams end up with 5 points.
  17. Re: Italy v Croatia - June 14

    I would not say 99.9% but would mean Spain vs Croatia ends in a draw both teams go thru pushing Italy out. Would go to goal difference with Croatia +2 over Ireland' date=' Italy would need at least +3 (off the top of my head) in their last game vs Ireland.[/quote'] No, you are wrong. This is what I'm trying to point out. If Spain, Croatia and Italy all end up on 5 points, the goals scored between these three teams is counted as tie breaker, the goals scored with Ireland are not counted. This is point c in the uefa rule book, section 8.07. If two or more teams are equal on points on completion of the group matches, the following criteria are applied, in the order given; to determine the rankings: a) higher number of points obtained in the matches among the teams in question; b) superior goal difference in the matches among the teams in question (if more than two teams finish equal on points); c) higher number of goals scored in the matches among the teams in question (if more than two teams finish equal on points); d) superior goal difference in all the group matches;
  18. Re: Italy v Croatia - June 14 How? If Italy-Croatia finishes 0-0, a Spain-Croatia 2-2 draw will be sufficient for both teams to go through. If Italy-Croatia finishes 1-1, a Spain-Croatia 2-2 draw will be sufficient for both teams to go. If Italy-Croatia finishes 2-2, a Spain-Croatia 3-3 draw will be sufficient for both teams to go through, and so on. Remember what happened in Euro 2004?

  19. Re: Italy v Croatia - June 14 I have to say, I am quite suprised that no one has said that if Italy draws against Croatia and Spain wins against Ireland, Italy is 99.9% out of the tournament. Italy has only one possible result today to stay in the tournament, they will not/can't settle for a draw.
