  1. After a careless riding incident with his mount Rad, Melbourne Cup winning rider Blake Shinn has been suspended by the Racing NSW stewards at Hawkesbury on Thursday. Shinn was found guilty from allowing the Kris Lees-trained galloper to shift in when not adequately clear of Just Another, resulting Rad to be taken in making contact with Marielle. Just Another lost its rightful running when sandwiched between Marielle and Rad. Blake Shinns’s ban will start on October 7 and will be allowed to ride again on October 21.

After suffering from muscle tears from her victory in the Group I Golden Jubilee Stakes at the Royal Ascot Carnival last June, undefeated champion mare Black Caviar is ready to work for an autumn campaign in 2013. Trainer Peter Moody said once recovered, the daughter of Bel Esprit will return to light work on a water walker before making an appearance at the Caulfield stables for an evaluation. Moody also told RV that Black Caviar will return to spelling paddock before pursuing her career next year. "We're going to give her a rest now and she will be geared towards and autumn preparation,” Moody said. "That's the extent of it at this stage; no races have even been thought of or discussed as potential targets.”

  3. After staying at the paddock since April last year, eleven-year-old HK veteran Good Ba Ba will resume his racing career now in Australia as part of the Rick Hore-Lacy stable at Caulfield. Good Ba Ba got seven Group I victories in Hong Kong, including three consecutive editions of the Hong Kong Mile between 2007 and 2009 with the 2009 victory as his last win. As a whole the son of Lear Fan’s record stands at 16 wins from 46 starts but Hore-Lacy has set the gelding for the next year’s Group I Doncaster Mile (1600m) at Randwick as the veteran's autumn goal.

  4. As a guide to the spring season, Anthony Cummings-trained Your Song is scheduled to race at Randwick in the Roman Consul Stakes (1200m) on Saturday. After an excellent run in the Group III Run To The Rose (1200m) finishing second behind Pierro , the son of Fastnet Rock showed a not so good performance after two weeks when he finished down the track in the Golden Rose (1400m). "Your Song has picked up alright and he'll run in the Roman Consul Stakes which will determine what he does from there," Cummings said. "There are races like the Brian Crowley Stakes and or the Coolmore Stud Stakesahead but if he didn't run to our expectations on Saturday week, he'll probably go to the paddock." After a disappointing performance last Saturday in the Group lll Gloaming Stakes at Randwick, Your Song’s stablemate Ninth Legion is off to the paddock for a rest.

Ocean Park with 10 wins and 11 placing from his 31 starts has prize money of $500,000 and has a minimum win distance of 1200m and a maximum win distance of 1800m. Randwick It’s a Dundeel still unbeaten after winning the Gloaming Stakes last Saturday at Randwick. This New Zealand galloper won by a 1 and ¼ length against Honorius while Lunar Rise was a head away third. It’s a Dundeel now has $166,000 in prize money and can run from 1200m to 1800m. Longport trained by John Thompson won the Tea Rose Stakes on a protest against Norzita ridden by Corey Brown. Longport was an $81 chance in the race and beaten the $2.50 favourite Dear Demi who run 4th. Longport now has 3 wins and 1 placing from her 5 starts to date. Jim Cassidy has ridden another winner as Steps in Time takes out the Bill Ritchie Handicap group 3 race. The $6 chance Steps in Time beaten the $4.40 favourite Said Com by a 1 and ¼ length. After showing an excellent performance at Doomben last September 8, the Robert Heathcote-trained Solzhenitsyn is scheduled to be ridden by top jocket Corey Brown,at Caulfield in the Group I Sir Rupert Clarke Stakes (1400m) on Sunday. After an indefinite suspension for Danny Nikolic and while his appeal is still in the process at the Victoria’s Racing Appeals and Disciplinary Board, Mosheen’s connections have take on Mark Zahra to ride Group I winner on Saturday at Flemington. After an apprehensive hearing at RV offices on Wednesday night, Nikolic’s ban has been extended by the RAD Board and the appeal for the sanction will be heard again on Wednesday at 10am. The booking for Zahra is only for the Bobbie Lewis Quality; for the stable is planning next moves once Nikolic’s circumstances are clear next week. Mosheen and Nikolic’s partnership got four Group 1 victories and connections are still expecting good joint venture in the future.

  9. Wednesday's Sandown Hillside meeting has been called off by the Racing Victoria stewards due to strong winds. In the past 18 hours, extreme winds have pounded most of Victoria, with fallen trees blocking the roads resulting to heavy traffic across the state. Riders rode in the opening race of the TVN Handicap (100m), but with 90 km/h of winds caused problems for the jockeys and their mounts. The said race was won by the Craig Dickson-trained Nicholls Court. After the opening race stewards and riders agreed to abandon the rest of the racing within the day.

  10. Famous trainers and jockeys involved in the Listed Victoria Gold Cup (2000m) on February 4 at Caulfield attended the inquiry at the Racing Victoria's office. Racing Victoria stewards sent out written requests for the inquiry for them to investigate or ascertain if there are any wrongdoing from anyone involved in the race. At the moment RV people doesn't have any comments on the progress of the said inquiry.

Peter Moody's trained horse Golden Archer won the listed The Shark.com.au Stakes 1100m race. The talented 4 year old horse by Rock of Gibraltar now has 8 wins and 3 placing from his 13 starts to date. He was ridden by Luke Nolen and started in barrier 7 in a small field of 8. Golden Archer has a minimum win distance of 1000m and a maximum win distance of 1200m with prize money of $551,100. Sincero won the N.Z.   12. after pleading guilty to a careless riding charge , jockey Christian Reith received a six meeting ban at Rosehill that will start on Wednesday, causing him to miss the Wyong Cup Carnival and Chelmsford Stakes day. Reith got three victories in the TVN Jockeys Trust Handicap last Saturday at Rosehill. He is supposed to have seven meeting suspension but stewards issued a one meeting discount due to two of the suspension dates featuring stakes races.

  14. To avoid confusion with the unraced Chris Waller-trained filly Done Deal, connections of the Kiwi galloper Sundeel decided to change his name to It's A Dundeel. It`s A Dundeel showed an excellent performance when he won at his Australian debut leaving Kristy Lee behind in the Allan Denham Racing Handicap (1350m) at the Australian Turf Club at Wyong. The exciting galloper is scheduled to run next Wednesday at Canterbury in the Benchmark 70 Handicap (1580m). According to Jamed McDonald, they will continue his association with the undefeated son of High Chapparal.

After a careless riding incident at Canterbury on Wednesday, champion rider Glyn Schofield and Corey Brown together with top apprentice Jason Collett have been issued suspension by the Canterbury stewards. Corey Brown was found guilty of careless riding in the Canterbury Park Handicap (1250m) and got a six meeting ban, according to the stewards Brown permitted his mount Upshot to shift out near the 400 metres which resulted Crystal Miss to be hampered. His suspension will begin on September 5 and will finish on September 14. Collett and Schofield bot received five meeting ban which will start on September 5 until September 13. Glyn Shofield pleaded guilty to the charge for steering his mount Agon to the outside of the heels of Slippery Miss approaching the 200 metres of the tab.com.au Handicap (1250m). The apprentice`s suspension happened at the Hyland Race Colours Handicap (1550m), when the stewards found Collett guilty of letting Platinum Red to shift out at the entrance when there was insufficient room between two runners, that resulted Cliques to be checked . Reprimands was also issued to Hugh Bowman and Josh Parr on a busy day in the Canterbury stewards room.

  16. After a long time of rest and a testing trip to the UK for the Group I Jubilee Stakes at the Royal Ascot, Black Caviar’s connections has been very excited by the mare’s progress. The daughter of Bel Esprit got her 22nd straight win in the Golden Jubilee Stakes living the Group I winner Moonlight Cloud behind. "She’s resting, she’s recovering really well and as a matter of fact, we are pretty excited by the way she is looking at the moment,” Taylor said. He also said that owner/trainer Peter Moody is not yet stating any decision if the six-year-old champion will be on a racetrack in 2013, but they are optimistic that she will have preparations in the autumn. "She will be off up north for a month or so on a water walker and Peter will bring her back and she will go into training I would suggest and then we’ll make a decision then,” Taylor said. "We are all keen to see her back on the track. The decision hasn’t been made but I would say, if you were a betting man, we will see her on the track again. "You don’t race for long but you can have foals for many years .”

  18. After a fall from Cresta Start in the Chieftain Fabrics Handicap, top UK jockey Ryan Moore got a broken wrist and will have an indefinite period of rest. As a result of the injury, he missed the opening meeting in the York Festival on Wednesday. Moore wrote in his Betfair column ,"the bad news is that it is third time unlucky and I have broken my left wrist.” "I don't know how long I will be out for, but I can tell you that I am not happy.” The top British rider said the fall was “unavoidable”, saying the track condition in Warwick has contributed with the accident. "I saw an incident like this coming before my fall last night,” Moore said. "In my opinion, the problem was that the grass was far too long and lush, and that can always cause problems, and when I went into the bend on Cresta Star I was never balanced. I had hold of her head but when the favourite came round, I got a bit tight and she lost her back end and slipped . "I don't know the full extent of the problem until I go and see my normal doctor in Oxford, but I'll obviously be out for a while. What really annoys me is that I think it was avoidable."

  19. On Saturday, star jockey Damien Oliver is scheduled to steer Commanding Jewel at Moonee Valley in the Super VOBIS Three-Year-Old Fillies’ Plate over 1200 metres. Commanding Jewel got a victory in Swan Hill maiden race on August 13 with partner Jamie Mott, but the rider gave way to Oliver and will ride in Cairns on the same day. Oliver was also booked by trainer Leon Corsten to agai, ride Awesome Bro in the Listed Essendon Nissan McKenzie Stakes (1200m). Awesome Bro and Oliver won at Sandown last August 8. Oliver’s services will continue for Caulfield trainer Tony Vasil for one of his contenders in the Listed Carlyon Stakes (1000m). Vasil has nominated Green Birdie and Veewap in the $120,000 race with the trainer to make a decision on Oliver’s mount at acceptance time on Wednesday. The champion jockey will ride the Chris Hyland-trained Crabs in the 2500-metre Benchmark 95 Handicap (2500m) while Adelaide trainer Richard Jolly has booked him to ride Draw Forward in the $80,000 Dr Sheahan Plate (1200m).

After being thrown from a horse and was knocked unconcious in a trackwork at Flemington, apprentice Damian Lee has been rushed to Footscray Hospital and will spend Tuesday night for further observation. The apprentice made a strong start when he recorded six wins in the 2012/13 season in the opening of the season. Lane got another victory aboard Platelet in the Listed Monash Stakes (1100m) at Caulfield last night. As a result of the injury, Damian Lane is unlikely to take his four mounts at Sandown on Wednesday.

  21. After his victory in the Group III Geoffrey Freer Stakes (1m5-1/2f) at Newbury on Saturday, Mount Athos is scheduled to travel to Australia for the Melbourne Cup. The son of Montjeu ran fifth of the six runners before making an excellent turn of foot with the help of his rider Ryan Moore to record a 3-1/4 lengths over Caulfield Cup nominee Brown Panther. European trainer Luca Cumani said Mount Athos would go into quarantine next month in preparation for his Australian stint. "I talked to Ryan Moore, who seemed very happy and thought the horse picked up nicely,” Cumani told the Press Association. "The plan is to go for the Melbourne Cup. "After this, I would think he will go up to 53.5 kilograms, which is the same as one of our other hopes for the race, Quest For Peace. "The plan is for him to go into quarantine for two weeks starting on September 12, then travel to Australia on September 27 or 28." The galloper is set as $17 favourite in the Melbourne Cup by the IASbet.

  22. With trainer Alain De Royer-Dupre, Americain is scheduled to start at Deauville, in Sunday's Group II Prix Kergorlay (3000m). Americain showed an excellent performance when the galloper got the victory in the 2011 Melbourne Cup quest.
