Rushall v Darlington I'm amazed that Darlington aren't favourites for this. I don't really need to go over the respective sides recent form as I have written plenty on both recently and hopefully it will be more money made on backing Darlington as they look a fantastic bet.   Chippenham v Welling Both sides that are doing well at the moment and Chippenham got an injury time winner on Wednesday night in a win over Taunton. Welling though I think are playing better at the moment and have only lost once in their last 10 games and that was an unfortunate defeat against Farnborough. Now they have drawn more games in that time and they drew again on Tuesday night, but that was a good point at Hampton and I think they are overpriced to get the 3 points here.   Torquay v Hampton & Richmond Torquay's improved form did not last long and they have had 2 awful defeats the last twice against Taunton and Tonbridge. The loss of the 10 points hasn't seemed to spur the players on at all with those efforts and Hampton are better than those two sides and they have only lost once in their last 10. They look a fair bet to me.   Prices from Thursday midday   Darlington 4pts @ 2/1 with Skybet, Paddy Power, William Hill, Betfair and Betfred (take up to 11/10) Welling 1pt @ 21/10 with William Hill and Bet365 (take up to 7/4) Hampton 2pts @ 6/4 with William Hill, Betfred and Bet365 (take up to 11/10)

Some brief thoughts for today.   Eastleigh v Rochdale I think we were a bit unlucky with Woking on Tuesday night and I am happy to take Rochdale on again with Eastleigh who I think can get back to winning ways here.   York v Aldershot As we know Aldershot aren't always trustworthy away from home, but they are better than York who were hammered 5-1 on Tuesday night at Altrincham. Their fans already want the new manager to go and hopefully it is an away win.   Darlington v Peterborough Sports Happy to go with Darlington again at a shade of odds on as they continue to look a much better side than their league position suggests.   Kings Lynn v Rushall Olympic I'm surprised the home side aren't odds on here to be honest and they rate a confident selection.   Dartford v Maidstone A local derby which always adds a hint of caution, but Dartford continue to be in dreadful form and Maidstone are much better than them. They should be odds on for me.   Hemel Hempstead v Hampton & Richmond Hemel have got Dartford's old manager in, but they continue to be poor and Hampton have found their form again.   Prices from 9am Saturday   Eastleigh 1pt @ 8/5 with SKybet and BetVictor (take up to 5/4) Aldershot 1pt @ 13/10 with most bookies (take up to 11/10) Darlington 2pts @ 10/11 with wiyth most bookies (take up to 4/5) Kings Lynn 4pts @ 13/10 with Skybet, Paddy Power, Betfair and BetVictor (take up to 5/6)  Maidstone 2.5pts @ 23/20 with Bet365, Betfred, Skybet and BetVictor (take up to 10/11) Hampton & Richmond 2pts @ 11/8 with most bookies (take up to 11/10)

Banbury v Southport When Banbury first changed their manager they perked up and won a couple of games and drew against Chester. Since then though they have been dreadful and have lost 5 on the bounce conceding 3 on three occasions and 2 the other couple. It is looking like they will go down and they deserved to lose against Rushall on Tuesday night. Southport have picked up in recent weeks as well. They had expected losses to Chorley and Hereford in their last 6 games, but they have beaten Brackley, Scarborough and Warrington (who they beat 3-0 on Tuesday night) as well as drawing against Peterborough. Those points picked up have been crucial to seeing them try and pull away from the relegation zone. If these two continue in the form they have been then the away side are too big.   Blyth Spartans v Kings Lynn Another side who look like they will stay up now are Kings Lynn and they have had just one defeat in their last 8 games and are unbeaten in 6. They had a good win last Saturday when they beat South Sheilds 3-1. They travel to a Blyth side who are in desperate form having only picked up 2 points in their last 8 games. They will be looking nervously over their shoulders with the likes of Kings Lynn chasing them down and I like the look of an away win here.   Gloucester v Boston Typical of my own team to go and prove me wrong a couple of weeks ago when managing to get a win over Scarborough. We still look set for relegation, but I think we were able to take advantage of a Scarborough side who are in desperate form at the moment. Whilst Boston have been picking up more points they are now 3 without a win and they have lost their last 2. The draw was against Blyth and they lost to Buxton and Spennymoor which suggests to me that Gloucester might be able to get a result. The key thing for me is Boston aren't defending all that well and with Theo Robinson scoring goals for the home side I think there is a chance of a home win.   Spennymoor v Darlington I watched Darlington against Southport and Banbury after putting them up in both games and they were awful both times. The difference between then and having watched them beat Scunthorpe 4-0 on Tuesday night was staggering. Steve Watson has done a hell of a job and they will stay up now. They have won 4 on the bounce and 5 of their last 6. In those 6 games they have scored 16 times and conceded just 5. Now this will be far from a gimmie as Spennymoor have turned their season around as well. They are unbeaten in 6 and won 5 of those. It is also just 1 defeat in 9. However Darlington are way over priced for this and hopefully they can land this local derby.   Prices from Wednesday 7pm   Southport 2pts @ 8/5 with Paddy Power, Betfred and Betfair (Hills and Skybet are massive stand outs at 2/1 and take up to 5/4) Kings Lynn 2pts @ 7/4 with Betfred (Skybet and Hills are massive stand outs at 21/10 and take up to 6/5) Gloucester 1pt @ 2/1 with 2/1 with Paddy Power, Betfair, Betfred and Bet365 (Sky are 11/5 and take up to 7/4) Darlington 2pts @ 14/5 with Skybet, Paddy Power and Betfair (take up to 15/8

Boreham Wood v Maidenhead Wood have got Tshimanga back, but hard to know how good he still is. They did win at Woking last week, but they only had 3 shots in the game and were probably fortunate to hold on with just 10 men. We know Maidenhead can throw in a stinker and their last 3 losses were to Ebbsfleet, Wealdstone and Dorking. They did beat Wealdstone on Tuesday night though and I think they look in better shape than Wood at the moment.   Chelmsford v Weymouth I'm going to go for a hat-trick on Weymouth after we have been on them the last twice. Clearly last weeks win was a rather dramatic 4-3 victory, but I think it shows how high confidence is with them at the moment that they could come back from losing positions to win the game. Chelmsford can certainly blow hot and cold as they showed when losing to Havant last week. For me Weymouth are too big a price.   St Albans v Taunton No idea why the price on St Albans has drifted as they look good things to continue their superb form. Great 4-0 win over Torquay last week for us and they should have beaten Hampton on Tuesday night as well. They have only lost once in their last 11 games. Taunton have only won once in 18 games and that came 11 games ago. They have drawn 4 of their last 5, but only 1 of those was an away game which was the draw at Welling. St Albans are way better than Taunton and it really should be a home win.   Hungerford v Walton & Hersham (Southern Premier South) The only team to beat Hungerford at home this season are probably champions Chesham. Walton did win away last week at Sholing, but they struggle away on the whole and I think Hungerford are better than them anyway.   Bishops Stortford v Coalville Into the FA Trophy now and I like Coalville here to cause an upset. God knows what has gone on with them last season as they should be near the top. I'm surprised it took them so long to sack their manager which they finally did this week. I know the home side hammered Aldershot in the previous round, but that was a freak result and they looked a poor side when I went to watch them play Gloucester a couple of weeks ago. Coalville are more than capable of winning this.   Peterborough Sports v Kidderminster I was surprised that both these sides opened up at 6/4 and I'm not surprised the away side are being backed. They look a totally different side under Phil Brown and I'm sure he is eyeing up a Wembley trip which looks a realistic aim given the sides still in the competition. Sports have done well enough at home recently, but I think they will struggle to contain the new and improved Kidderminster.   Welling v Barnet Welling got lucky in the last round as Chesterfield played the youth team and even then they struggled a bit to win the game. Barnet have been putting out some strong teams in the competition so far and they went and won at Radcliffe in the last round which would have been a tougher game.   Prices from Friday 10.30am   Maidenhead 1pt @ 5/2 with Skybet, Paddy Power, Betfair and Ladbrokes (Coral are 27/10 and take up to 2/1) Weymouth 1pt @ 17/5 with Paddy Power and Betfair (take up to 13/5) St Albans 5pts @ 17/20 with Bet365 (take up to 4/6) Hungerford 2pts @ 11/10 with Bet365 (take up to 10/11) Coalville 1pt @ 21/10 with Skybet and Bet365 (take up to 7/4) Kidderminster 3pts @ 13/10 with Paddy Power, Betfair, Betfred and Bet365 (29/20 with Skybet and take up to Evs) Barnet 3pts @ 6/5 with Bet365 (take up to 10/11)

Dorking v Woking I wish Woking were playing someone better than Dorking as I think it would be a lump on job, but hopefully taking them on will still pay off tomorrow. Woking still don't have a manager and have lost their last 7 games in all competitions. Away from home their have lost their last 4 and in three of those they took the lead. They were a goal up against Ramsgate and lost 2-1, they lost 3-2 to Oxford City, they were 2 up at Boreham Wood and lost 4-2 and then on Tuesday night they were 2 up against Weston-Super-Mare and lost 3-2. I've got no idea why they haven't got a manager yet as it's been about a month now and clearly confidence is rock bottom right now. Dorking have had some poor performances on the road of late. They lost 6-0 to Gateshead and were very lucky to get a 3-3 draw on the TV at Fylde. At home though it has been better and they have won 3 of their last 4 including beating Maidenhead 3-0 in the FA Trophy last week. On paper Woking do have the better team, but they aren't playing like it and I'm not sure going to Dorking's dodgy 3G pitch is going to be what they need right now.   Solihull v Oldham Nearly got paid out by opposing Oldham last week and I will take them on again here although again I sort of wish it wasn't Solihull they were playing. To be fair they beat Scunthorpe in the Trophy last week which is a good effort given their side, but they have lost their last 3 league games. Oldham are still far from convincing as highlighted by that Ebbsfleet loss in their last league game and hopefully Solihull can pick up the 3 points.    Banbury v Farsley Celtic The only game Celtic have lost in their last 7 games was to Radcliffe in the FA Trophy and they incredibly scored two goals in injury time to overturn a 1-0 deficit against Curzon on Tuesday. That was just their 2nd win at home (they have drawn 6), but away from home they have won half of their away matches. Banbury are also doing very well away from home as they showed at Kings Lynn on Tuesday, but at home they have won just twice. Don't think there is much between these two sides and given their respective home and away form I think there is value in backing Celtic.   Bishops Stortford v Hereford Taking a bit of a chance here and it would be typical after backing them in a couple of away games recently if Hereford did win this, but they lost both those games and then drew at Farsley. They have won just twice on the road, yet at home they have won 8 times. Bishops Stortford have done pretty well at home this season. Yes they have conceded 4 goals 3 times, but in their other home games they have lost it has been very close and they have won 4 times. At the prices I am happy to take a chance on the home side.   Braintree v Aveley Usually I wouldn't only go a point on a team at this sort of price, but I do think they are slight value still so worth a point. I mentioned last week I thought Aveley were beginning to struggle and again we just failed to get paid out as they drew with Hungerford. Braintree had superb home form last season and it is the same again this time around having won 6 times and losing just the once to Maidstone. If they can keep up the good home performances then I think they will get the 3 points here.   Havant & Waterlooville v Taunton I was very surprised that the Steve King era was a massive failure at Havant given his CV, but for whatever reason it didn't work and you can't ignore the fact they have won both games since he left. I watched a fair bit of the game on Wednesday against Hemel and I thought they deserved the win and scored two goals. Their squad is much better than their league position and they are finally showing it. Taunton are good at home, but away from home they have won just once. Now they have drawn most of their away games so that is a possibility, but now Havant have found that winning grove I think they are value to beat Taunton.   Canvey Island v Potters Bar Happy to back Potters Bar again here as I did at the start of the month. In the league only Hornchurch have beaten them since they lost to Margate on September 9th. Canvey have only lost a couple of times at home and did beat Chatham in their last home game, but Potters Bar just shouldn't be as big as they are given their superb run.    Prices from 6pm Friday Dorking 1pt @ 12/5 with Skybet, Paddy Power, Betfair and Betfred (take up to 15/8) Solihull 1pt @ 7/4 with Bet365, Skybet and Coral (take up to 11/8) Farsley 1pt @ 11/5 with Bet365 (take up to 7/4) Bishops Stortford 1pt @ 16/5 with Skybet and Bet365 (take up to 5/2) Braintree 1pt @ 19/20 with Bet365, Betfred, Skybet and William Hill (take up to 5/6) Havant & Waterlooville 1pt @ 6/4 with Bet365 Potters Bar 1pt @ 16/5 with Skybet and Betfred (Hills are 100/30 and take up to 9/4)

Aveley v Hungerford I watched a bit of the Aveley game against Welling on Monday night and when Welling had their keeper sent off I thought they would win quite comfortably. The player who they put in goal looked pretty ropey when he failed to deal with a cross along the floor in what was a slightly bizarre 2nd goal. Aveley struggled in the 2nd half though and in the end conceded again and ended up with just a point. This came on the back off losing 4-3 on Saturday to Farnborough, a side who hadn't won away all season, having been 3-1 up. I just get the feeling that after their very strong start they are beginning to reach their natural level squad wise and that for me gives Hungerford a chance here. They are in the play-offs in their division and haven't lost in 9 games in the league. They knocked out Truro in the previous round and could well knock out another NLS side here.   Barnet v Maidstone Two sides I took on last week in the FA Cup unsuccessfully with Barnet getting a draw late on (which they by all accounts did deserve) and Maidstone getting a victory over a disappointing Barrow. I'm pretty keen on Maidstone here because I think they will be taking this more seriously than Barnet will. Barnet have their replay live on TV on Tuesday night and given the winner plays Eastleigh it is a really good chance to reach the 4th Round. They will surely be putting in their effort for that and of course the league campaign and making sure they finish in the top 3. I think Brennan will rest players for this with the replay and a busy Christmas schedule in mind. Maidstone don't have another game until the following Saturday so there is no real reason why they would rest players and no doubt they will want to go and cause another Cup upset.    Chippenham v Gloucester Fair bit on the line here as both sides have players who used to play for the other team and Gloucester's manager used to manage Chippenham. As I put last week ahead of the Chester game which was called off, Gloucester's last two performances have seen a big improvement which were a 3-0 win over Braintree in this and a 4-2 win over Spennymoor in the league. They do still have to prove they can do it away, but I think they are over priced to win this given those last two efforts.   Curzon Ashton v Macclesfield I know Curzon are 6th in the National League North at the moment, but I think you can make a case for Macclesfield having a stronger side than their hosts. They have done well since Alex Bruce took over and are scoring lots of goals as well. They put 4 past Alfreton in the previous round which made up for the fact Alfreton had beaten them in the FA Cup earlier in the season. Curzon are unbeaten in their last 5 league games, but they haven't had the hardest fixtures in the world and this will be a tough test for them. I think Macclesfield are way over priced for this.   Dagenham & Redbridge v Peterborough Sports Taking a bit of a flyer here, but Dagenham haven't been overly convincing at home so far this season and Sports have been in good form on the whole in recent weeks. In the last 10 games form table they are 5th and I think they are the type of side who could potentially beat a misfiring side like Dagenham. They have only won 3 at home in the league, whilst losing the other 8 games and that has to be concerning so I give Sports a chance of causing an upset.   Oldham v Mickleover Taking even a bigger flyer here, but given how poor Oldham were against Ebbsfleet in their last game I will take a chance that high flying Mickleover can cause an upset. I'm not sure how seriously Mellon will take the FA Trophy and he might use the game to rest some of his first team, even so they are still very up and down regarding their performances. Fair to say Mickleover aren't in as strong form as they were earlier in the season and they have only won once in their last 7 league games, but they had an impressive 3-1 win at Spennymoor in the previous round. Obviously Oldham are the most likely winners, but at a huge price it is worth taking a chance on Mickleover.   Prices from Thursday 6pm   Hungerford 1pt @ 15/4 with Paddy Power and Betfair (21/5 with Coral and take up to 3/1) Maidstone 2pts @ 4/1 with Paddy Power, Betfair and Betfred (19/5 with Hills and take up to 5/2) Gloucester 1pt @ 29/10 with Paddy Power and Betfair (take up to 2/1) Macclesfield 2pts @ 100/30 with Paddy Power and Betfair (take up to 2/1) Peterborough Sports 1pt @ 9/2 with Paddy Power, Betfair, William Hill, Betfred and Bet365 (take up to 7/2) Mickleover 1pt @ 15/2 with Skybet, Paddy Power, Betfair and William Hill (take up to 6/1)

I have to say that the National League fixtures in all 3 divisions look really tough this weekend and I only have one bet. It is however a max bet at odds on which is something I rarely do, but confidence is high and for me the value is there. There are 4 other bets at Step 3.   Oldham v Ebbsfleet You could see that Micky Mellon has improved Oldham on Wednesday nightagainst Barnet. Having seen some of the comical goals that Barnet have been conceding of late I think he knew that they could allow Barnet plenty of the ball, but they would get their chances. It is no surprise to see that Barnet had 75% of the ball in the first 15 minutes and then 70% in the following 15, but they did very little with it as Oldham made themselves very hard to breakdown. The first shot Oldham had was the penalty which was gifted to them and Barent were fortunate not to have the keeper sent off. In the 2nd half Barnet equalised with a penalty which ended up being their only shot on target. They had looked more likely to kick on and win the game at that stage, but they didn't have another shot for nearly 20 minutes when the game was long gone. Oldham punished Barnet's defensive mistakes which is no surprise given they have someone of the quality of Norwood. If Barnet had taken the good chances that came their way in the first half after the goal maybe we would have seen a different result, but it was the perfect away performance and Oldham have a talented squad. I rarely tip up odds on shots especially ones as short as Oldham, but for me they look good things to beat Ebbsfleet. They did get a point on Tuesday against Maidenhead, but they created very little and had an xG of just 0.16. They are in dreadful form and Oldham should have way too much for them.   AFC Sudbury v Stourbridge I don't dip into the Southern Premier Central too often as highlighted by the fact I've only put up 3 bets in the division so far this season. 2 of the 3 bets have been winners though and I am doubling the amount of bets had on Saturday. I will also be content if the number of winners doubles as well. Sudbury have won 3 of their last 4 games including beating Coalville on Tuesday night 3-0. I'd make them favs to beat a Stourbridge who hadn't won in the league for 7 games until beating Long Eaton 3-0 on Tuesday. They are dreadful though (just 4 points so far) and Sudbury put 6 past them recently themselves. The value is there in a home win for me.   Berkhamsted v St Ives Berkhamsted aren't much better than Long Eaton and have also won just once this season although 7 draws have helped them get 10 points. St Ives had also only one just once in the league prior to their 3 game winning spell they are currently on. They have beaten Coalville and Halesowen in that spell as well so it isn't like they are beaten rubbish and there is clear improvement in the side. They were 1 up against Aveley in the FA Trophy last week as well before losing 2-1, but that was still a very good effort. If they take those performances into this game then they ought to make it 4 league wins on the bounce.   Mickleover v Nuneaton Despite all the off the field issues at Nuneaton they have been doing really well on the pitch. They have won 8 of their last 10 league games and have won 5 on the bounce. They look over priced to beat top of the table Mickleover who after going on an impressive winning run at the start of the season have now not won in 5 league games and lost to Kettering 2-0 on Tuesday night which was a big shock. I don't think there is much between these two sides and therefore the price on Nuneaton is over the odds for me.   Carshalton v Wingate & Finchley Into the Isthmian Premier for the last bet of the weekend and I think the away side are a big price to beat a Carshalton side who are struggling after a good start to the season. They have won just one in their last 8 league games and were hammered 4-0 by Hastingson Tuesday night. Wingate's last 10 games have seen them win 5, lose 5, score 19 and concede 19. They did lose on Tuesday 2-1 to Chatham, but they are better than Carshalton and I think Wingate are in better nick than their hosts at the moment.
Prices from Friday around 10am   Oldham 5pts@ 4/6 with Paddy Power, Betfair, Betfred and Coral (take up to 1/2) AFC Sudbury 1pt @ 17/10 with Bet365 and William Hill (take up to 11/8) St Ives 1pt @ 6/5 with Skybet and Betfred (take up to Evs) Nuneaton 1pt @ 16/5 with Bet365 (take up to 2/1) Wingate & Finchley 1pt @ 15/4 with Skybet and Bet365 (take up to 2/1)

Rochdale v Aldershot Look it is fair to say Aldershot's away form is nowhere near the level of their home form as they have won 3 and lost 6 on their travels. Given that it does make it slightly odd they went to Swindon and put 7 past them in the FA Cup, but they have gone to Boreham Wood and Solihull to win away which are tough places to win at. I will also give them a pass at Eastleigh as their keeper got sent off and they ended up with an outfield player in goal. They are just too big not to back here though especially as Rochdale have only managed 2 wins at home this season. I wouldn't say they have played badly as such, but I do think Aldershot carry the bigger threat right now and for me 3/1 is a point bigger than it should be.   Woking v Oldham Granted Oldham's last away game in the league saw them have just 3 poor quality shots at Fylde, but they are a big price here so I will take a chance. I think Micky Mellon has a bigger task on his hands than I thought he did when he took over and they haven't really played all that well, but then Woking are in a poor place right now having finally sacked their manager after losing to Oxford City last week. I thought the Ramsgate defeat might have been the final straw but clearly not. So whilst I hardly want to go mad on Oldham they are too big a price to win this as they are more than capable of doing so. Worth adding that Fylde defeat is their only league defeat in 10 although they are drawing lots at the moment.   York v Hartlepool York are hardly ones to go mad on either, but I would have them as favs for this and I'm not surprised they are being backed. They have won just once at home in the league and drawn 5 of their 9 games, but their are signs of improvement that don't seem there with Hartlepool right now who have lost 6 of their last 8 games, beaten just Eastleigh and drew 2-2 with Ebbsfleet last week. Whilst it was a dramatic injury time with Hartlepool going 2-1 up and then Ebbsfleet equalise, Ebbsfleet had an xG of 3.12 and Hartlepool's was just 0.9. I was tempted to go 2 points on York, but will stick to a point.   Curzon v Matlock Got to chance Matlock given Margetts is now up to 28 for the season which is just mental. He's on fire right now and he will give them a chance of causing an upset against Curzon in the FA Trophy.   FCUM v Guiseley The away side are doing very well at the moment having lost just once in their last 10 league games and FCUM are having a poor season so far. They have won just once in their last 9 league games and I'd have the away side as clear favs for this.   Prices from 7pm Friday   Aldershot 1pt @ 3/1 with Bet365 (take up to 2/1) Oldham 1pt @ 12/5 with Bet365 and Skybet (take up to 2/1) York 1pt @ 17/10 with Bet365 (take up to 6/5) Matlock 1pt @ 10/3 with Paddy Power, Betfair and Betfred (take up to 5/2) Guiseley 1pt @ 6/4 with Betfred, Skybet and William Hill (9/5 with 365 and take up to 6/5)

Hartlepool v Eastleigh I got Eastleigh wrong on Tuesday night and in the end they ran out easy winners with Paul McCallum scoring a hattrick. That win means they have only lost twice in their last 10 games. They were the heavy defeat at Gateshead when things went badly wrong and a 1-0 loss to Bromley. They have crept into the top 7 as well and its fair to say that Hartlepool are going very much in the other direction. It is just 1 win in 7 and they lost again on Wednesday at Boreham Wood. They did play quite well in that game and were a bit unlucky to lose it, but they are struggling for goals at the moment with just 3 scored in their last 6 games. I certainly think Eastleigh have a good chance of picking up another win here.   Oldham v Dagenham & Redbridge Dagenham are on a poor run of form having only picked up 2 points in their last 7 games, but I don't think it is quite as bad as that. The two times I have put them up as a bet they have had a red card which I think has cost them the game and that includes last Saturday at Aldershot. They should have beaten York on Tuesday night as well but 2 late goals turned the game in York's favour. I am going to back them again here though because Oldham still haven't turned the corner for me. I know they won 3 on the bounce after sacking Unsworth, but I saw enough in the game against Kidderminster to know that the quality of performance still isn't there. They drew with Wealdstone on Saturday and again with Maidenhead on Tuesday where the fans were saying that the 2nd half performance was just like the Unsworth era. They are crying out for a manager, but for whatever reason they still haven't hired anyone full time. I am happy to take them on here with a Dagenham side who I think have been a bit unlucky not to have picked up more points.   Bishops Stortford v Southport I am really keen on Southport here and make them the best bet of the weekend. They only picked up 1 point in their first 6 games and then they had a change of manager and that has done the trick because they then won their next 3 games and drew with Tamworth last time which given how well they are doing was a good effort. They look a completely different side now and they have a great chance of keeping the unbeaten run going. Stortford have been struggling for goals having only scored 7 in the league and the fact they lost their captain this week to Billericay doesn't bode well. They tried hard to keep him, but Billericay clearly have more money than them. Southport look the better side to me and look a great bet.   Tonbridge Angels v Hemel Hempstead Tonbridge have only managed to beat Dover at home this season and they have only won 3 games overall. They aren't doing as well as they did last season whereas Hemel are the opposite. They have only lost twice so far having beaten both Yeovil and Torquay. They are the better side for me and whilst I don't think there is a huge amount in the price there is enough to get involved.   Welling v Farnborough For me Welling should be higher up the table and they are better than their position in the table suggests. I put them up a couple of weeks ago against Eastbourne when they drew 2-2 and they could easily have won that. They did play on Wednesday as they were taken to a replay by Gosport in the FA Cup, but they won that 4-2 and that was a good effort as Gosport are flying this season. I also opposed Farnborough a couple of weeks ago and they also drew 2-2 with Slough and again we could easily have had a winner in that match as well. Since then they have lost their star striker to Woking and they lost in the FA Cup last weekend to Weston. I'd have Welling as favs for this this and they look a fair bet.   Prices from Thursday morning   Eastleigh 1pt @ 12/5 with Coral and Bet365 (13/5 with Skybet and take up to 2/1) Dagenham & Redbridge 1pt @ 100/30 with Bet365, Skybet, Paddy Power and Betfair (take up to 5/2) Southport 3pts @ 2/1 with Bet365, Paddy Power, Betfair and William Hill (take up to 11/8) Hemel Hempstead 1pt @ 9/5 with Paddy Power, Betfair and Betfred (11/5 with Hills and take up to 13/8) Welling 1pt @ 9/5 with Skeybet, William Hill and Betfred (Betfair and Paddy Power are 11/5 and take up to 11/8)

Chesterfield v Dagenham & Redbridge I'm happy to oppose Chesterfield again. They can't stop leaking goals and as their assistant said after the win at Aldershot, they can't keep having to score 4 goals to win games. Clearly they are the most likely winners, but Dagenham have been much improved since their shocking start to the season and they were the first team to beat Barnet. 5/1 is too big for me and I am happy to take a chance.   Oldham v Dorking In some ways Oldham were unlucky not to win against Gateshead last week, but I think Gateshead more than deserved the point. The defending for the Gateshead 2nd was awful as well and a team like Oldham, especially as they were a goal up, should have defended much better than they did. Unsworth continues to look clueless and I am happy to take them on here. Again on paper they should win this and Dorking are hardly in great form themselves having only beaten Southend so far, but they should have beaten Eastleigh last week and I think they have the potential to make things tricky for Oldham. The longer it stays 0-0 or if Dorking can take the lead then the more the crowd will be calling for Unsworth to go and that will make it a pretty toxic environment for the homeside.   Scarborough v Brackley Brackley had more than enough chances to have won for us against Kings Lynn on Tuesday night, but in the end they had to settle for a point having scored a very late equaliser. I think they are a fair bet to beat a Scarborough side who lost to Southport on Tuesday and weren't great in getting a point against Gloucester last Saturday.   Canvey Island v Whitehawk (Isthmian Premier) After losing to Margate on the opening day, newly promoted Whitehawk have done very well. They drew with Hastings, who are yet to lose, beat Billericay, who have won every other game and beat Horsham who have done well so far as well. That's strong form for me and they look a spot of value to beat a Canvey Island side who have struggled to find the form that saw them finish in the play-offs last season. They did beat Concord a couple of weeks ago, but they have lost every game and the 3 previous defeats were not great.    AFC Totton v Hendon and Gosport v Hungerford (Southern Premier South) Going to double up the 2 home sides here. Both have been backed which isn't a surprise. Hendon have drawn 4 of their 6 games so far, but Totton should be good enough to get the 3 points. Hungerford have struggled against the better sides so far and Gosport are clearly one of those at the moment so again ought to be too strong.   Prices from 8pm Friday night Dagenham & Redbridge 1pt @ 5/1 with Bet365, Paddy Power, Betfair and Coral (take up to 15/4) Dorking 1pt @ 9/2 with Paddy Power, Betfair and Coral (take up to 15/4) Brackley 1pt @ 7/5 with Paddy Power and Betfair (take up to 5/4) Whitehawk 1pt @ 2/1 with Paddy Power, Betfair, Skybet, BetVictor and Betfred (take up to 13/8) AFC Totton/Gosport 1pt double @ 9/4 with Skybet and Betfred (take up to 2/1)

So we are down to just the one league for the rest of the season and even that might see clubs dropping out. I can also see clubs playing weakened sides to cut down on costs. I will obviously keep an eye on that regarding bets but as it stands I have 4 for Saturday.
    Barnet v Woking
It seems both teams will be safe from relegation unless the vote can be overturned so I was initially concerned with what team Barnet might put out, but it seems for now it will be the first team and given the improved performance in the win against Halifax and the fact Woking aren’t usually great away I was more than happy to take the big price about a home win.
    Bromley v Maidenhead
Not sure why Maidenhead are such a big price here given Bromley’s home form and I’m not sure there is an awful lot between these two sides so the value certainly lies with Maidenhead.
    Notts County v Chesterfield
Granted Chesterfield have had another Covid break but the team full of Gloucester rejects have a good chance of beating County. I think County have been over achieving points wise of late. I watched their game against Kings Lynn on Tuesday night and whilst I was obviously happy they won I thought they were lucky to have done so with the home side having the better chances in a good performance. A better team would have punished them and Chesterfield are a better team so I’m more than happy to back them.
    Eastleigh v Stockport
Eastleigh’s form continues to improve and they got a good win over Hartlepool on Tuesday night. They look a big price to beat a Stockport side who aren’t really convincing at the moment as they continue to drop points. On paper they are the better side but they’ve been struggling to show it on the pitch so I’m happy to take my chances on a home win.

At the very least we look set to get two more set of National League fixtures with a vote due next week on what to do regarding the rest of the season. Amazingly I will be in profit for January whatever happens on Saturday which given my strike-rate has been pretty poor is a good thing. Obviously Chorley help in that regards, but even without them I would be just about in profit going into Saturday's games. I have 3 singles plus a double for the weekend's action.
    Bromley v Aldershot
I wasn't expecting Bromley v Woking to end 2-2 on Saturday given the lack of goals Woking were scoring and that Bromley have been so poor at home, but I think it says it all about the home side that they blew a 2 goal lead against a side who had been finding scoring goals very hard. Aldershot didn't have much go their way when losing to Weymouth on Tuesday night and I think they can bounce straight back from that defeat. I watched them against Solihull recently and I thought they played some good football and look more than good enough to beat a team who just struggle so badly at home. 12/5 looks a massive price for an away win. This game is the live BT Sport game at 5.20.
    Halifax v Maidenhead
I was impressed with Maidenhead's victory over Yeovil on Wednesday night given Yeovil had been hitting form before their break. Halifax couldn't get over the line for us on Tuesday night when drawing 0-0 at Wrexham and they will be tough opponents, but I do think the away side are over priced here at 14/5 as I would have the teams closer together in the market. For me they should be no bigger than 2/1.
    Kings Lynn v Wrexham
I am still not convinced by Wrexham at all as their performances have not been strong. They still look to be lacking up front which has been their issues for a few seasons now and as much as I would have them as favourites for this I do think there is value in backing the home side. They did blow a 2 goal lead to lose at Dagenham last week, but their last 3 performances in the league were good and on their day they can beat an under performing Wrexham side. 9/4 looks too big for me about a home win.
    Double
I have to oppose both Dover and Barnet on Saturday. I know I put Dover up to beat Barnet on Tuesday, but I was shocked they put 3 past them which just shows how bad Barnet are. It would be a huge upset if they go from that to getting anything from top of the table Torquay, who will be very happy with their points against title rivals Notts County and Sutton in their last 2 games. As I mention Yeovil did lose on Wednesday night, but with that game under their belts they ought to beat a poor Dover side. Dover have lost all 5 away games in the league and have only scored 2 goals in the process which doesn't surprise me after watching their game against Solihull last week. The double pays 1.59/1 with William Hill.

So we finally reach the last day of the regular season. It was nice to get a profit on Monday with Weston, Dover and Dorking all landing at big odds. This season has been very up and down although still be a decent enough season. The ante-post stuff will show a nice profit and we are basically waiting on who wins the Evo-Stik Southern Premier as Weymouth and Taunton were both covered. I really need it to be Weymouth to help land a lumpy mid-season acca I put on (although Farsley aren't home and hosed yet either), but at least I have Taunton covered. Hopefully it can be a profitable end of the season on the match betting front where I have some big prices again.
    AFC Fylde v Halifax
It doesn't really matter if Fylde come 4th or 5th and I reckon they might rest a few players in this match with the play-off matches coming thick and fast next week. They are guaranteed a home tie in the first round of matches and will be away in the next tie if they get through anyway so with that in mind Halifax are worth a bet here at 11/2. They beat Wrexham 2-1 on Easter Monday who are the team in 5th at the moment so there is no reason why they can't repeat the same sort of performance here.
    Boreham Wood v Eastleigh
The home side gave it a good go at Chesterfield for us on Monday, but ended up going down 3-2 after having a man sent off. Eastleigh made sure of their play-off spot by beating Maidenhead and like Fylde it doesn't really matter if they finish 6th or 7th because they will be away in both the possible games anyway and I can imagine that they will rest key players. This gives Wood a chance especially as they have performed well in recent weeks so are worth backing at just over 2/1.
    Bromley v Ebbsfleet
God knows what is happening behind the scenes at Ebbsfleet, but the players still haven't been paid and it is hard to see how they are going to be overly motivated to put in a performance here for a club that is in a right mess off the pitch. The loss to Dover on Monday meant they can no longer finish in the play-offs so there really is nothing to play for and they were poor in that game as it was. Bromley have drawn 3 of their last 4 so still seem to be trying and they beat Leyton Orient 5 games ago. They should be favs for this and 7/4 looks a huge price.
    Hartlepool v Salford
Taking a bit of a chance here, but I am backing the home side. I just wonder if Salford will decide to concentrate on the play-offs given they are highly unlikely to catch Leyton Orient. If Orient go in front early on then Salford will know their number is really up and they wont want to be risking injuries ahead of the play-offs. Hartlepool aren't exactly ending the season in great form but they did beat Halifax on Good Friday. Team news could be key, but it might just pay to be ahead of the game here and have a small investment at a big price in the hope Salford have one eye on the play-offs.
    Curzon Ashton v Spennymoor
Not that long ago Spennymoor were in poor form, but they have won 4 of their last 5 games and are setting themselves up nicely for the play-offs. They got a huge win against at the time league leaders Chorley on Easter Monday and they will be trying here as if they can overtake Brackley then they will have one less game in the play-offs. As I have mentioned a few times of late Curzon have stopped for the season based on their performances and odds against on the away side picking up another win is a big price.
    Eastbourne v Concord
I really don't get the price of Concord here. I think the bookies are basing it on the fact they are basically certain of a play-off spot, but what they have missed is the fact that they can finish 4th or 5th and that would mean a home tie in the first round of the play-offs. Given how strong they have been at home this season that would be huge if they could overtake Bath and or Chelmsford. God knows where Eastbourne's 6-0 drubbing of Dartford came from given it had been a very long time since they last won prior to that. They then drew with Slough 1-1 on Monday which was a decent effort as well. They are safe now though and with Concord still having something to play for they just should be 9/2.
    Woking v Gloucester City
I suspect if Gloucester had not come from 2 down to beat Chippenham 3-2 on Monday then Gloucester would not have been such a big price for this because they still would have been fighting for their survival. Fortunately for me and my fellow City supporters we are now safe for another season, but I think we can go out on a win. Our away form has been much stronger than our home form this term, but the key point is that Woking have nothing to play for. They can only finish 2nd now and I really can't believe that they won't be resting players ahead of the play-offs. Why would Alan Dowson risk his key players in a meaningless game a few days ahead of trying to win promotion? 21/5 looks a big price on an away win to me.

Bit of a disappointing mid-week as only Salford managed to win. Fairly quiet for me again this weekend with just the 3 bets.
    Barrow v Boreham Wood
I had this game in mind for a bet on the home team when I was looking at Tuesday night's matches as I thought the home side at odds against looked a good bet and although Boreham Wood managed to get a point against Solihull I still think the home side are a bet. They lost to Aldershot last weekend and they have only won once in their last 10 games. The home side are in good form having only lost twice in their last 10 games and one of those was against Leyton Orient. They did blow a 2 goal lead against Harrogate last week, but this is easier on paper and I wonder if Tuesday night might just leave its mark on Wood especially with this long journey to make.
    Hyde v Stafford
A couple in the Northern Premier League for me this weekend and I like Stafford here. Granted they are only 18th in the league, but they have only lost 1 game in their last ten. Granted they have drawn 6 in that time, but I think they are value to pick up 3 points here given Hyde have lost 4 out of their last 5 and the win was against Workington who are bottom.
    Scarborough v Lancaster
Lancaster are only 3 points ahead of Stafford, but like them they have only lost once in their last 10 as they are proving hard to beat. They have drawn just one fewer, but again they are playing an out of form side who sacked their manager last week. They have lost 4 of their last 5 and the away side are worth backing at big odds.

Unusually for me I don't really fancy anything at the prices in any of the 3 National Leagues today so I am going to Step 3 for my bets.
Bamber Bridge v Farsley Celtic & Burgess Hill v Margate
Both Farsley and Margate are around even money and I fancy both strongly so I think it is worth putting them in a double which pays 77/25 with Marathon. Bamber Bridge have lost 5 on the bounce and not won in 9. Celtic are top of the table and have won 7 of their last 9 games. Farsley should be shorter than they are to win and the same goes for Margate. I mentioned the other week that they have improved massively since Jay Saunders took over and that has continued. They have won 5 of their last 7 games and although Burgess Hill won last week that was their first victory in a long time. They beat the other out of form side Kingstonian and Margate should have too much for the bottom side.
    Redditch v Tamworth
I am happy to back Tamworth again given their current form and they were superb last weekend when I put them up to beat Banbury. Redditch should offer a stiffer test, but Tamworth look really good at the moment and I think they can prove too strong for them.

It was good to be back in profit on a Saturday after a couple of tough weekends. Hopefully that will continue this Saturday where I have 6 bets.
    Boreham Wood v Hartlepool
Just one bet in the National League this week and I am glad that Wood have signed Haringey's star striker this week as it makes them even weaker in their bid to stop Dorking winning the Bostik Premier, but I am not sure he will turn the home sides form around. Goals have been an issue for them so they have had to do something and they were lacking in that department again on Saturday when losing 1-0 at Maidenhead. It has been 6 league games since they last picked up 3 points although to be fair they have drawn half of those so they are still making themselves hard to beat, but I think the away side are value here. Having only lost twice at home they have then gone and lost their last two home games to Maidstone and Havant and Hartlepool should on paper be a much tougher test. Richard Money was a mistake, but at least Hartlepool have done something about it and the team has really improved for Craig Hignett. They beat Braintree and then they drew with Leyton Orient last Saturday and if they had scored a penalty then they would have taken 3 points against the team 2nd in the league. I think they have a real chance of picking up 3 points here and the 12/5 with Bet365 and BetVictor.
Hampton & Richmond v Gloucester City
For my sins I am off to watch my side again on Saturday. I have seen us more this season than I have for a long time and given I have only seen us win once it has been on the whole a pretty depressing experience. However I think we are a very attractive price to win this. We had to sack Chris Todd as his stint was a massive failure, but I thought getting Mike Cook in his place was a mistake. However he has massively improved the side and they have won 2 and drawn 2 of the 4 games he has been in charge for. Crucially in that time just one goal has been conceded and we look as strong at the back as we did before Todd took over. Granted goals are still a concern and the 2 against Slough on Tuesday night were the first 2 goals from open play since before Christmas.1st half against Slough we only had one shot, but the 2nd half was much better and we scored 2 good goals. If we can play like that then I am very hopeful we can beat a Hampton side who I don't rate at all. Strangely enough they also played Slough in their last match and they were very lucky to get a point as Slough were much the better team and Hampton equalised in injury time. I have said before there is little between most of the sides in the bottom half of the NLS and there is no way City should be over 3/1 to win this game. Hampton struggle to score goals so a 0-0 wouldn't be a big surprise, but Gloucester are playing with much more confidence than they were and there is every chance they could get the 1 goal which might well be all they need to win this.
    Slough v Dartford
Speaking of Slough for all they should have won last Saturday against Hampton the fact remains they have only won once in their last 9 games and not at all in their last 5. That is puts them in 20th place in the 10 game form table. Their issues seem to be in the 2nd half as that seems to be where they are dropping points. Dartford are flying at the moment and it looks like they will be in the play-offs yet again. They have only lost twice in their last 10 matches and that has seen them rise up the table. Their away form is a slight concern. It took them until deep into injury time to beat a 9 man Woking in their last away game and they hadn't won in 4 prior to that including only drawing at East Thurrock. However that is more than factored into the price as they shouldn't be anywhere near 3/1 (BetVictor) to win this.
    Truro v Oxford City
Oxford's form has fallen off the edge of a cliff and they have picked up just one point in their last 6 games. That point came against an out of form Eastbourne side as well. Truro might have only won one of their last 5, but they have only lost by the odd goal when they have lost and those were against better teams than Oxford. I think they are a bit better than their league position suggests as well and given they have more to play for than Oxford I think a price just over 6/4 (Marathon) looks a good one about a home win.
    Darlington v Southport
Granted the home side are doing pretty well themselves having lost just twice in their last 9 league games although the win at Blyth was their first in 4. Southport's good form looked to have come to an end losing two including 4-0 at home to AFC Telford, but they then bounced straight back with a hugely impressive 5-3 win over leaders Chorley last Saturday. This is no gimmie, but I do think the away side are over priced at 21/10 (BetVictor) because I do think they are one of the best teams in the division despite their league position.
    Treble
I rarely put up a treble, but this one pays 5/1 with BetVictor and it makes plenty of appeal. I have written plenty about Bradford Park Avenue and the fact they clearly don't want promotion. I'm not surprised Altrincham have been backed and I think they will win. Nuneaton look in even a bigger mess than they did when I opposed them last week as the new owner has left them this week and the club really is in a sorry state. I just can'[t see how 3rd placed Spennymoor don't pick up another 3 points. Welling have had to cut their budget in recent weeks as well which is a shame as it might well cost them a play-off place. Torquay travel to South East London this weekend and they look almost unstoppable at the moment and are pretty much scoring goals for fun.
    Hartlepool 1pt @ 12/5 with Bet 365 and BetVictor
    Gloucester 1pt @ 63/20 with Marathon
    Dartford 1pt @ 3/1 with BetVictor
    Truro 1pt @ 153/100 with Marathon

I didn't do too badly with picking out games that would be on last week, but sadly Stockport were the only winners although at least they kept losses down given the big price they were. Dorking came good in mid-week which pretty much covered Saturday's losses. No weather issues this weekend so unlike the horse racing everything should be on.
    Aldershot v Eastleigh
Aldershot holding Dagenham to a draw was costly a couple of weeks ago, but I think there is value in opposing them again here. I wrote in that preview that Dagenham should only need 1 goal and it wasn't quite enough in the end, but the fact remains that Aldershot aren't heavy scorers and there is every chance Eastleigh again will only need 1 goal. Eastleigh's away form had been strong and then they only got 1 point in 4 away league games, but they bounced back a couple of weeks ago when winning at Bromley. They are in play-off contention and I'm still not sure that Waddock is going to be able to keep Aldershot up.
    Chesterfield v Halifax
I shouldn't have given up on backing the draw in Chesterfield games as in the league they have drawn 4 of their 7 games since they beat Salford which was the last time I backed the draw in their matches. Those 4 have come in their last 5 and the win was only against Aldershot. They were poor in the FA Trophy last weekend and although it might not have been a priority it was still concerning they lost to Brackley so easily. Halifax have drawn their last 5 games and you can add another two if looking at their last 9 league matches. The stats clearly tell you that the draw is value here and it has to be worth a play.
    Wrexham v Dagenham & Redbridge
God knows what is going on at Wrexham as yet again losing their manager to the Football League looks set to derail their efforts to get into the Football League. Last season they imploded when Keates left and this season things have gone downhill after Sam Ricketts move. To be fair that's not entirely true as they continued in good form to start with, but since the turn of the year they have been desperate losing 4 on the bounce and managing to only beat a Maidenhead side who managed 1 shot the whole game, 1-0. Another managerial change has happened and inexperience Bryan Hughes has come in. Apparently he is looking to improve their attacking which goes without saying given they struggle for goals. All the upheaval can't be good though and Dagenham have the potential to punish them. I really do have a love/hate relationship with Dagenham this season, but 19/5 really is too big a price to not back them here.
Nuneaton v Boston (National League North)
Pretty safe to say that Nuneaton will be playing Step 3 football next season and despite being taken over things still don't seem great off the pitch. On the pitch they have won just once at home all season and they have picked up just 2 points in their last 8 games. Boston are on the edge of the play-offs and they are pretty solid away from home this season and only lost 1-0 at Spennymoor in their last away game. That is their only defeat in their last 5 matches as well and an odds against quote looks too big for me here.
Hyde United v Matlock (Evo-Stik Northern Premier)
Not only have Matlock won just 4 games on the road this season they are in poor form overall. They have picked up just two points in their last 6 games and although they are only just behind their hosts in the table they are clearly struggling of late. Hyde have been in good form of late and take out the loss to Bamber Bridge their last 9 league matches have seen good performances even in the other two games they have lost which have come against good sides. They look a bet at 6/5.
Spennymoor v Bradford Park Avenue & North Ferriby v Workington
The BPA game got called off last week, but they are worth opposing here against a bang in form Spennymoor side who have won their last 4 league matches and have lost just two of their last 10. BPA have only 2 points in their last 6 games and as I pointed out last week they have let players go as it looks like the club don't really want promotion. The home side have gone odds on now, but I think they are worth doubling up with Workington. Now Workington are 1 from bottom and North Ferriby are bottom in the Evo-Stik Northern Premier, but it really should be an away win. North Ferriby have won 2 lost 22 and have a goal difference of -51. Workington are showing signs of possibly being able to stay up and they do have games in hand to help as well. North Ferriby have lost 9 on the bounce and have conceded at least twice in all of them. Workington have won their last 2 and only lost on of their last 4. This is a must win game for them if they are going to stay up whereas North Ferriby know their fate already. The double pays 257/100 with Marathon.

Disappointing that Telford couldn't get the win last week, but at the end of the day I am confident it was the right bet to have and it was just one of those results which defies logic and goes against us. If Blyth had scored an injury time penalty then we would have been in profit for the day as well despite the max bet losing. At the moment I am just putting the one bet up but there will be more to follow tomorrow at some point.
    Dagenham & Redbridge v Aldershot
If Gary Waddock can keep Aldershot up I think it will be the biggest achievement of his managerial career because they are awful. It isn't all his fault because there have been budget cuts at the club, but you have to fear that if they go down to Step 2 they won't be coming back in a hurry. It has been 10 games since they last won in the league and they have picked up just 3 points in that spell. That last win also came against bottom of the table Braintree. Scoring goals is a huge problem for them as they have scored just 24 all season and if we narrow that down to the last 10 games then they have only scored 5, 3 of which came in the 4-3 loss to Maidenhead on Boxing Day. Away from home it is a really grim picture as they have won just once, drawn twice and lost 11. Dagenham didn't play well against Maidstone last week, but Maidstone basically gifted them all 3 goals thanks to some shocking defending. Given how much I have written about Dagenham of late there is no real point of repeating myself, but at the very least they should be no bigger than 4/6 for this and probably even shorter than that. I just can't understand how they are only very slightly odds on for this. Dagenham ought to only need 1 goal given how goal shy Aldershot and they look a cracking bet.
    Dartford v Concord Rangers
Concord will be keen to get the 3 points they have lost for fielding an illegible player here, but I think the home side offer a bit of value. Dartford's home form has been very impressive as they have lost just twice. Wealdstone beat them early on in the season when they weren't in great form anyway and the only other team to beat them is Torquay and they played well that night despite losing. They have got themselves into play-off contention and it is mainly thanks to their performances at home. Concord's away form has picked up of late having drawn at Bath and won at East Thurrock and Welling before losing their last away game to Hungerford. Take the Welling win away though and the only teams they have beaten on their travels are Dulwich, East Thurrock and Weston all of whom are struggling. Dartford are nearly as big as 6/4 to win this with Marathon and that represents value to me.
    Dulwich Hamlet v Chelmsford City
I'm hoping to get to this game on Saturday and it will be my first visit to Champion Hill since Dulwich returned their last month. Usually I want them to win, but given Gloucester are in a relegation battle with them I'm not sure I really do (although I do hope both survive) and I think Chelmsford are worth backing to win. I have only seen Dulwich in the flesh twice this season both when they played Gloucester. Back in August Gloucester beat them 1-0, but I was really impressed with Dulwich and thought there is noway they would struggle this season. Then just before Christmas they looked a completely different side and not a very good one at that. It is hard to know what has gone wrong really, but I suspect that the team had got used to winning games of football and now they aren't they are finding it very tricky to play their usual passing style of football because they don't have the confidence to do so. I thought returning to Champion Hill would see a big improvement in form, but after winning on Boxing Day in their first game back they have picked up just 1 point in their next 5 games and that game in a desperate affair at East Thurrock last Saturday. Having seen East Thurrock earlier this month I can imagine how bad a game it was. Chelmsford are much better than East Thurrock and although their good away form from earlier in the season has left them I would say out of the 4 defeats in their last 6 on the road the only poor loss was to East Thurrock. I'm surprised to see Chelmsford on the drift as Dulwich look really low on confidence at the moment and at just over 6/4 with Marathon the away side look a solid bet.
    Southport v AFC Telford
No doubt Telford will go and win now I am taking them on, but Southport are worth a bet despite losing their unbeaten record at Altrincham last week. They certainly played well and I can seem bouncing straight back here. Telford might be very strong at home, but it has been a very different story on their travels. They have only won 3 away games and two of those came against FCUM and Nuneaton and both of those are in the bottom 3. Following Southport has been pretty profitable for us in recent weeks and I am surprised they have drifted out to 121/100 with Marathon as I would have them nearer even money myself.
    Whitehawk v Carshalton
Those of you who have been following me for a while may remember that a year or so again backing Whitehawk became a rather profitable system despite the fact they were bottom of the table and still ended up going down and I just wonder if they are about to go on another good run of form. They have improved the side this month and their last two results have been superb. First of all they got a draw against Dorking who are 2nd in the table and then last week they were really impressive in beating Kingstonian last week. If they can repeat those two efforts then they should be more than capable of beating a Carshalton side who have only won 2 of their last 8 league games and have lost 5 on the bounce away from home. Every chance they will have one eye on their FA Trophy match at Barnet next week as well. At 19/10 with BetVictor they are well worth backing.
    Dagenham & Redbridge 4pts @ 49/50 with Marathon
    Dartford 1pt @ 147/100 with Marathon
    Chelmsford 2pts @ 38/25 with Marathon
    Southport 1pt @ 121/100 with Marathon
    Whitehawk 2pts @ 19/10 with BetVictor

Not surprisingly the price has come in on Dagenham although I still think the price is on the right side of value.

New Year's Day could hardly have gone any better and it was a cracking start to 2019. Hopefully that will continue on the first Saturday of the year and I have 6 bets.
    Chesterfield v Ebbsfleet
Martin Allen may have gone, but Chesterfield have gone back to drawing again. They have now drawn both games since he got the sack after losing 4-0 to Solihull. I don't think they will go down as any team who can go unbeaten for so long can't be that bad, but they clearly need to start picking up 3 points. I don't think they will do that here and I fancy Ebbsfleet. As I mentioned on New Year's Day Ebbsfleet are flying at the moment and were really impressive in beating Braintree on Tuesday. Granted they are the worst side in the division, but even so the way they went about beating them was particularly impressive. They are top of last 10 games form table at the moment and I think they should be favourites to win this.
Dagenham & Redbridge v Boreham Wood
Backing Dagenham a week ago didn't pay off, but they are again a bizarrely big price to win this. They did lose 1-0 to Barnet and then lost by the same scoreline to Orient on Tuesday, but they are clearly still in good form despite those two defeats. I can't understand why they aren't favs for this. Boreham Wood have only won 2 away games all season and the last of those was back on September 18th. Granted they have drawn the same they have lost (6) and they have drawn 5 of their last 6 on their travels, so some people might want the draw onside here. In my view though Dagenham are overpriced to win the game and I am happy to take them to get the 3 points.
Blyth Spartans v Alfreton (National League North)
Blyth have been flying in recent weeks and haven't lost in 9 games in the league. They had a tough start to the season, but all of a sudden they now look play-off contenders. They have won 6 of their last 8 and the two draws came in the two games against Spennymoor over Christmas. Alfreton have shown a little more since their 7-1 thrashing by Spennymoor. They drew against Stockport, got 4 points over the two Boston games and also lost to Southport. That's not a bad return, but with Blyth in such good form they really should have the edge in this one.
Tonbridge Angels v Brightlingsea Regent (Bostik Premier)
I opposed Tonbridge on Boxing Day when Folkestone beat them 3-1 at a big price and they then went on to lose 3-0 to Carshalton last Saturday. I think it is worth opposing them again here especially as they face an in form team in the shape of Brightlingsea. Those two defeats for Angels mean they have lost 7 of their last 8 games and Regent have won 5 of their last 6. It seems to me that this is one of those games where bookies have priced it up on league positions rather than actual form because it is pretty hard to make a case for the home side at such short odds and they are well worth taking on again.
Kings Lynn v Leiston (Evo-Stik Southern Premier Central)
I make it 15 games unbeaten for Kings Lynn now and it is a shame for them that they had the wrong manager at the start of the season and that Kettering and Stourbridge have pulled away, because they clearly should be in the title battle. They are up to 3rd but they look too far behind the other two to catch them. Still it wont stop them trying and they should be more than capable of beating Leiston. Granted they haven't lost in 5, but on the other-hand they have only won 2 of their last 9 games and they now face one of the best teams in the division.
Bamber Bridge v Grantham (Evo-Stik Northern Premier)
Fair to say it has been a bit of an up and down season for Grantham. They were very good at the start then woeful and at the moment they have re-found their form again having only lost one of their last 5. They have won 3 of them including beating Basford and Gainsborough which were decent efforts. I think they are over priced here to beat a Bamber Bridge side who have only won two of their last ten and have only won one of their last 5 games at home
    Ebbsfleet 1pt @ 2/1 with Marathon
    Dagenham & Redbridge 1pt @ 101/50 with Marathon
    Blyth Spartans 2.5pts @ 103/100 with Marathon
    Brightlingsea Regent 1pt @ 21/10 with BetVictor
    Kings Lynn 3pts @ 24/25 with Marathon
    Grantham 1pt @ 21/10 with BetVictor

No you aren't seeing things this is the thread for Saturday (there maybe mid-week bets to follow in addition to the FA Cup one once more prices go up), but I have a rare early bet as I think the price is going to go by the time I do the rest of my bets.
    Aldershot v Wrexham
Having opposed Aldershot yesterday it was annoying that it ended up a 3-3 draw as Bedford got very close to landing the 10/1 bet on them. They now replay on Tuesday night which isn't going to help ahead of this game, but as I mentioned in Saturday's preview the home side have a lot of injuries at the moment and things are so bad that they could only name 2 subs! It seems manager Gary Waddock might be on his way to Bristol Rovers, but he made a suggestion earlier in the season that there were issues off the pitch and it seems they have no money to get anymore players in. As mentioned on Saturday they are on a shocking run of form and have even lost their last two home league games having been so strong at home earlier in the season. They face a Wrexham side who have only lost to Leyton Orient in the league in their last 10 games and saw off a useful Boston side easily in the FA Trophy on Saturday. For me Wrexham should be odds on and the 5/4 with Skybet (if you can get on) is a big price in my view. I would have them about 4/6 for this before the possibility of things getting worse for them in the Bedford match on Tuesday night and the fact Waddock might be on his way. The one slight concern is that Wrexham have drawn 4 of their last 5 away league games, but this is just the type of game they have to win if they are going to keep tabs with Orient and Salford and Aldershot look there for the taking at the moment.

The last two Saturday's have been poor and hopefully we can get some Christmas money on Saturday especially as I fancy some of the bets strongly. The Wrexham price has not surprisingly shortened although they have for some reason drifted back out slightly. I still think the price is value at the current odds if you haven't got involved. It doesn't seem that Aldershot are going to sign anyone although they are hoping they will have 11 fit players. Team news will be very interesting that is for sure. There are 6 other bets.   Alfreton v Stockport (National League North)
I really don't get the price of Stockport here as they should be firm favourites for me. Stockport are flying at the moment and have only lost one league game in their last 10. They thumped Ashton 6-0 on Tuesday night and prior to that the beat bang in form Spennymoor away from home. In between those two games they also won in the FA Trophy in a big local derby against Altrincham. On the other hand Alfreton are looking in shocking form at the moment. The only two teams they have beaten in their last 10 league games have been the bottom two sides in the division Ashton and Nuneaton. Last time out Spennymoor put 7 past them and they are looking a poor side at the moment. 2/1 is available if you can get it, but even the next best of 7/4 with Betfred looks a cracking price.   Ashton v Southport (National League North) As mentioned above Ashton are in the bottom 2 at the moment and have only won 1 and drawn 1 in their last 9 league games and that 6-0 thumping by Stockport on Tuesday was their 4th loss on the bounce. I was a little surprised by the strength of Southport's team on Wednesday in a County Cup game given they played the Tranmere match on Monday, but I guess it beats training and of course none of them played in the FA Trophy game last Saturday. As I have mentioned plenty in recent weeks they have shown massive improvement and this looks a great game for them to pick up another 3 points in. 21/20 with BetVictor is the best price.   Kidderminster v Curzon Ashton (National League North) I took Kiddie on a couple of weeks ago as they had been out of form, but they bounced back in good fashion to beat Brackley 2-0. That is their only game so far in December so as much as they will be fresh they might also be rusty, but they had two weeks off before the Brackley so hopefully that won't get in the way. Freshness over this busy period could be crucial and they start off with a very winnable game. Curzon haven't won in 6 league games now and their last 2 league games have both been away losses as well. I think the home side should be odds on here is 103/100 with Marathon is the right side of value for me.   Concord Rangers v Chippenham (National League South) I mentioned the other week about Concord's superb home form ahead of their game against Hampton and they duly won 4-0 which took their home league record to won 8 drawn 1 and lost 1.They are worth backing at odds against in this match as Chippenham's form has taken a dip having lost their last two league games to Weston and Hungerford. On their day they are capable of beating most in the division, but they look of their game at the moment. Their away form has seen them win only 3 as well so it is all about the home team for me here.   Truro City v Wealdstone (National League South) Take out a shocker when losing 4-0 to Oxford City and Truro are one of the most improved sides in the division. That is their only defeat in their last 7 league games and they thumped Weston in the FA Trophy last weekend. I would make them favourites to beat a Wealdstone side who are struggling for victories at the moment. They have only won 2 of their last 8 games and one of those was against Gloucester City a game I was at. It was a pretty poor game played out by two fairly poor sides so I am not hugely surprised they have struggled for wins since then. They were dumped out of the Trophy by lower league opposition last week and Truro look in better nick right now.    Marine v Farsley Celtic (Evo-Stik Northern Premier) Farsley certainly preformed with credit against Telford last week in the Trophy and they showed they could match teams in the league above. They sit in 3rd in position and given the games they have in hand over the teams above they are in prime position for the top spot. They have won 7 of their last 9 league games and drawn the other two. It should be another 3 points here and I can't believe that Farsley are odds against. It has been 11 league games since Marine last picked up 3 points and they blew a 2-1 lead last week. I have only seen Bet365 price this game up so better than 11/10 might appear, but that looks a good price.   Stockport 4pts @ 7/4 with Betfred Southport 2pts @ 21/20 with BetVictor Kidderminster 3pts @ 103/100 with  Marathon Concord 2pts @ 117/100 with Marathon Truro 2pts @ 23/10 with BetVictor Farsley Celtic 3pts @ 11/10 with Bet365

Last Saturday it was good to get 3 upsets (I am counting Dover as an upset as they were the outsiders) in the FA Cup and that is why I love punting on that competition. The 4th Qualifying Round and the 1st Round are the two favourite weekends for me as I love the chance to land a few big prices and I look forward to seeing what the 1st Round brings in a couple of weeks. Tuesday night saw a profit on the 3 bets as well so it continues to be a profitable month. Saturday sees the Step 3 clubs in FA Trophy action and as only BetVictor have priced them up I am not getting involved so it is 3 bets and a double for me across the 3 National Leagues.
    Gateshead v Aldershot
I think the away side are a huge price to win this. Gateshead's home form has been a bit shaky of late. They lost 3 on the bounce to Harrogate, Braintree and Eastleigh before beating Dagenham 2-0 in their last home league match. That form doesn't add up to an awful lot and I think they are flattered a bit by their current position in the play-off positions. Both these sides are in the FA Cup 1st Round although it is fair to say Aldershot certainly had the tougher afternoon seeing off a good Kettering side. As much as Aldershot have improved of late I wasn't surprised by the fact that Kettering gave them a good game because they are looking really good in the league this season and as they proved have it in them to create a National League side problems. Aldershot had enough class in the end though to see them off and it continued their big improvement in form which I wrote about a couple of weeks ago when putting them up to beat Eastleigh. These two sides are much closer together than a price of 14/5 (BetVictor) suggests and to be honest I think Aldershot will turn out to be the better side come April.
    Halifax v Eastleigh
I think there is just enough in the Halifax price to get involved here. I have opposed Eastleigh in both games so far since Hessenthaler left and it has proven very profitable with them losing to Aldershot and then when they got knocked out of the FA Cup by Hampton & Richmond last weekend. I suspected they wouldn't be able to sustain the progress they had made under him and it has been correct so far. As I pointed out when I put up Halifax a couple of weeks ago they love to draw at the moment although I thought they did well to beat Warrington in the FA Cup replay on Tuesday night after Warrington had outplayed them in the first game. I think its a good time to be playing Eastleigh at the moment and Halifax could finally get that league victory. At 161/100 with Marathon I think there is enough in the price to take it especially as they are drifting at the time of writing.
    Billericay v Dulwich
I still believe Billericay will win the league, but having seen them for myself a couple of weeks ago I think they are worth opposing here. Gloucester deserved at least a point and Billericay backed off Gloucester in the 2nd half allowing them plenty of possession and thus allowing them to create chances. They then had two games against Taunton and they were a bit fortunate to get a replay as Taunton missed a penalty in the first game and then they only won 1-0 on Wednesday night. They obviously have plenty of attacking talent, but Jake Robinson broke a toe in the first Taunton game and any side will miss his goals. These two sides have history given they were going for the title last season and Dulwich won this fixture last season. The Dulwich players and fans will be in a positive frame of mind after it was announced earlier in the week that they can return to Champion Hill although to be honest I don't think the players would need any incentive to beat Billericay anyway. They have had a couple of weeks off which should help and I was surprised to see footage of the Billericay players celebrating the win over Taunton as heavily as they were given in less than 72 hours they had a big league game. Dulwich are in a false position in the table and on their day I think they are capable of beating anyone in the division and at 7/2 (BetVictor) they are the value play in this.
    Leyton Orient v Havant & Waterlooville/Stockport v Nuneaton
The home double here pays 37/25 with Marthon and makes plenty of appeal. Orient were surprisingly knocked out of the FA Cup by Maidstone last week, but at least they weren't knocked out by a team two leagues below like Havant who lost to the Met Police. Orient should win this as Havant continue to struggle to get a victory. In the National League North Stockport should be beating a Nuneaton team who might not be around this time next week. They are in a sorry state off the pitch and although they have been battling well on it they then went and lost 6-0 to Bradford Park Avenue last Saturday. I think the players might now be thinking they are fighting a lost cause and I'm not sure going to a big ground like Stockport is ideal in the situation they are in.
    Aldershot 2pts @14/5 with BetVictor
    Halifax 1pt @ 161/100 with Marathon
    Dulwich 1pt @ 7/2 with BetVictor
    Leyton Orient/Stockport 2pts double @ 37/25 with Marathon

It is FA Cup weekend and yet again the bookies have been slow to price those matches up. Bet365 and BetVictor have so I will wait to see if we get any more prices before putting anything up. As it stands I have 4 bets in the National League for Saturday.
    Aldershot v Halifax
On the face of it the home side probably look on the short side at 5/4 to win this, but I think they look a fair price to do just that. Gary Waddock hasn't minced his words at times this season, but not surprisingly he has been a bit more upbeat of late and he certainly was after Aldershot had got their first away point of the season at Hartlepool last Saturday. It was a good performance from them and Waddock was right to highlight the fact that the new squad are starting to improve and get things together. As I mentioned in the Maidstone preview last week Aldershot battered Maidstone but still lost in their last home game, but that was actually only their 2nd defeat at home this season and they have won 4 of their 6 home games. That is key for me that despite their poor start to the season that has been pretty much down to their away form rather than their pretty solid home form. Halifax have had some tough away games and draws at Sutton and Wrexham are good efforts, although that Sutton match was a dire game in general. Their only win on their travels remains the opening day win at bottom of the table Braintree and given they only managed 2 shots on target against Bromley they were slightly fortunate to get a point last weekend. I think this game is tougher and with Aldershot solid at home and performances improving I think they can continue their rise up the table here.
    Chesterfield v AFC Fylde
The price on Fylde has come in from the silly opening quotes from the bookies which had them as the outsiders for this. The plus is they are unbeaten on the road, but the negative is that they have drawn 6 of their 7 away matches. Strangely given how strong they are going forward at home they can't score on their travels. They have only scored 5 times and 3 of those came in one game at Ebbsfleet. Surely in this game Dave Challinor has to make sure his side are a bit more attacking minded given Chesterfield are making some really poor defensive errors of late. I read a preview last weekend which suggested Chesterfield have defended OK of late, which is just bizarre because as I pointed out last weekend they have certainly not defended OK in recent matches. It has been a comedy of errors really and although they only conceded once against Maidstone it was a bad one to concede. Surely the likes of Danny Rowe are going to be gifted a few chances against a Chesterfield side who don't really look like winning anytime soon. 6/4 is still available with Skybet and Sportingbet and it is still a high enough price for me to want to play.
    Dover v Salford
Another team who have shortened up are Salford which again isn't a surprise. Football can make fools of you sometimes, but I just don't see how Dover can get anything out of this game. They have looked a really poor side in most of their games this season and they were especially bad against Barrow last weekend. Maybe the players will raise themselves for this one, but even so they just don't look good enough and manager Chris Kinnear pretty much hinted at that after the game. Salford on the other-hand are threatening to run away with the league and some of the football they have been playing is some of the best I have seen in this division for a few years. They have just got stronger as the season has gone on and they comfortably beat Maidenhead 3-0 last weekend in what could have been a tricky game for them. As long as they don't drop their standards and get complacent they could really batter Dover this weekend. I think at the very least they should cover the -1 handicap and that is a big price at 12/5 (Betfair/Paddy Power) and looks the best bet in the division this weekend.
    Ebbsfleet v Harrogate
There was a much improved performance from Ebbsfleet last Saturday, but it did come against Dagenham so how much do we read into it? I do think the signing of Reise Allassani who is a player I know well having been at Dulwich last season is a very good one and he was man of the match in the Dagenham game. The big problem for them though has been their home form and given they play a Harrogate side who aren't really showing any signs of slowing down after their flying start to the season I am happy to take Ebbsfleet on. Harrogate were the first team to defeat Boreham Wood at home last weekend and Wood are always hard to beat at home so that is no mean feat. Skybet and BetVictor are 2/1 about an away win and that is too big for me.
    Aldershot 1pt @ 5/4 with BetVictor/William Hill
    AFC Fylde 1pt @ 6/4 with Skybet/Sportingbet

    Harrogate 1pt @ 2/1 with Skybet/BetVictor
