  1. Re: Southampton v Everton > Mon 21st January

Southampton v Everton – Everton win and over 2.5 goals @ 3.00 Bet365 Southampton have picked up of late and have had some decent results. However these have mainly been against the lesser sides with home wins against Newcastle and Reading and draws with Fulham, Norwich and Stoke. Out of the top teams to visit ST Marys this season United and Spurs both picked up wins while covering this line and I can see Everton doing something similar tonight. Apart from their last home game against Swansea, Everton have scored and conceded in their last 16 league games so they are usually good for goals. They have covered this line winning their last 2 away games against Newcastle and West Ham. Despite a reasonable away record with 4 wins so far Everton have only kept one clean sheet away all season in a 3 nil win at Swansea. I think Everton can take advantage of the management situation and come away with a win tonight but I also think we should see some goals in the process.
I agree with the goals but how many? 3.5+ is not that good, around 2/1, my prediction 3-0, 3-1, 4-1
  2. Re: Southampton v Everton > Mon 21st January

Or else the new manager could have the opposite effect, and Southampton could be terrific. You don't know how the players are going to react to the new manager, they have only lost 2 of their last 12 league games, it certainly won't be a walk in the park like your suggesting.
For a team that is going for a 4th straight win on the road, against a side that has had a far from seamless week, the odds against is far too much, the bookies will pay big time tonight. As for the players, yes they will turn up, but thats about all they will do. I will tell you this will certainly be a walk in the park. EFC by at least 2 goals. Go against them tonight at your peril, at the end of the day we are talking about a potential champions league team, versus a potential Championship team, after last weeks events.
  3. Re: Southampton v Everton > Mon 21st January David Moyes does not expect Kevin Mirallas to be fit in time for Monday's trip to Southampton but hopes to have the Belgian back in contention for next weekend's FA Cup trip to Bolton. The Scot is also likely to be without Dutchman John Heitinga for the journey to the south coast with the defender still nursing a niggling problem that has seen him miss the Blues' last two games. A persistent hamstring complaint means Mirallas has featured just once since mid-November. But Moyes hopes to see the 25-year-old former Olympiakos man back in full training sometime next week. Asked for an update on the fitness of both players, the Toffees chief said: "They’re getting much closer and hopefully we'll have them back, certainly if it’s not for this game it will be in the next week or two." Everton will also be missing Tony Hibbert (calf) and Darron Gibson (thigh) for the clash at St Mary's but Moyes remains confident his team can pick up a fourth successive victory on the road. "We've had some good results," he said. "We'd like to have more and if we want to continue to hover near the top end [of the league] we're going to have to try to continue to get some good results. “It's important to try to pick up points away from home when we can. In the last couple of games we've done quite well and we've got to try to do that again." Heitenga wont make much diffrence here. Team will be for efc. Howard Coleman Distan Jakielka Bains Neville Anoichabe Osman Pienaar Fellani Jelavic A banker win for EFC here, for the first time in a very long time they drew a blank against Swansea, but created plenty to win the game, but in the process keeping Swansea down to only 1 or 2 chances. The saints will be in dissary here, Fans on the club back..Players will be on a low, EFC will go for the throat here from the off. Just about the best 11/10 shot this year...Double max bet here on EFC, rare for these opportunities to come around.:nana

  5. Re: RACE IN FOCUS - The BETFAIR Hurdle(schwepps, tote trophy) 9th Feb 2013 Nicky Henderson has 10 entries of the 69 that currently stand their ground...He will have something well handicapped. My Tent or Yours, noticable 7/2 with Ladbrokes, given the connection between the owners and the firm. Does he deserve a rating of 149, or has the handicapper been fooled? He could be a 165 horse running of a ridiculous handicap mark. The milkshake man has done it before. Geos 139 year 2000(15/2 from 20/1 in the week before)..won by 10, then running in all the top grade 1 races.:loon

  6. Less than 3 weeks until "the best" 2 mile hurdle in the NH calendar IMO. I love this race, as you really do have to dig deep to work this one out. Trends say that 5 6 and 7 yo have hit the lions share, with 2 8yo and 1 9 yo winning in the 32 years. I still call it the schwepps, for all us old barstewards. Nicky Henderson targets this race, in numbers, 4 winners and several placed. He without a doubt is the first port of call. I had the pleasure of seeing "make a stand" bully his rivals into submission in 1997 under Chris Maude(11-06), on his way to Champion hurdle success the same year, what a tank he was. The winner has to be close to champion hurdle class, or completely missed by the handicapper. Celestial Halo is top weight on 161, he may be there as a decoy for the weights. The top few in the betting My Tent or yours 9/2 Pearl swan 10/1 Cause of Causes 12/1 Cash and Go 12/1 Cotton Mill 14/1 Swing Bowler 14/1 16/1 Bar Lets have your thoughts on this great race...Mine later. 7. Re: Daily Racing Chat Thread Just watched the 2.10 in ireland, and if that is Irish Racing...27 len turn around, thru a jockey trying to ride a sprint on a stayer...you should say.."stick it up your...." Absolute disgrace for not giving a horse its best effort. I dont touch the stuff, but it really should come with a health warning..Fav backers conned again. Well they couldnt let 3 win on the bounce, and the shortest of the lot, but way out in front on form, smashed in a 2 fur sprint.:cry

1:45 Kempo - Big Sylv Yearly sire stats show that the progeny of Clodovil have won 12 of 45 runs at Kempton. It's Big Sylv's first outing at the track and the 4yo's running of bottom weight which could be a big advantage. She'll be carrying 12lb less than the top weights and she has been performing well of late. The trainers having a good run and has used David Probert to good effect. Originally I picked Glastonberry for this race, but then switched to Big Sylv as I think there are more advantages in her profile. 10/3 bet365 - win

4.15 Meydan: Royal Ridge' date= 7/1 Paddy Power, win BOG There is no doubt from the turf 6f track, you have to fully get the 6, or you dont get home, its ideal for a strong closer who wont be to far off the pace. As ever here they target the middle of the track, with the pace likely to come from low to middle today, the high numbers may struggle to get involved, as there is no early toe into the race IMO. Mysticism, will try to stretch them here, but this strong puller will struggle in the last furlong. Ahtoug(fav) wont get the 6 here, in fact there is not many tracks he will get 6 on, safely discarded. Royal ridge will get a perfect pull into this race, and is 100% guaranteed to see this out, doing his best work in the last 1/4 mile, I think his ideal distance will be 7 f, but for me he has been let in lightly here, with grade 1 peppered form all around him in his native SA. MDK introduced softfallingrain the other day from SA, altho better than royal ridge, he romped away in a conditions event, but it shows 1, MDK is in form, and 2 he want to have winners and make an impression on the sheik..You have to assume they will have been galloping together these two horses. I see Royal Ridge as a group 3 horse(min) let in very lightly for his introduction here, and has only run on the turf.
Just to add, Royal Ridge, the mount of Paul Hanagan for his main employer HH Sheikh Hamdan bin Rashid Al Maktoum, De Kock said: “We think he is a proper horse for Dubai and the Carnival so this provides an opportunity to get him on the track as we have not been able to get a run on the all-weather yet. He is in good form but will need every yard of this trip.” Have a look at this over 5 and 3/4 furlongs, allbeit in a lower grade, he was not syopping over this shorter distance..I just see him pouncing late here. www.youtube.com/watch?v=Lr7hoKDJZp0

4.15 Meydan: Mysticism' date= 8/1 Paddy Power, win Mysticism is having his first start for Saeed bin Suroor today. He has only run on turf once, which he won by 3L over today's distance. The going that day was good which he gets again today. He has a good draw in stall five. Trainer and jockey teamed up five times on Thursday and came away with three seconds. They had two winners together the week before.
He has NEVER run on turf...all races on dirt, this is the first time he tackles the turf.
  13. Re: BBOTD Thursday 17th January MAR MAR 3.40 Meydan 1 point win at 14/1, Victor Chandler nothing special in this race, but what a difference the visor made at doncaster, would not have to improve much to win this, and the tapeta will bring out more improvement imo. Great price i think for such a weak renewal.

  14. Re: BBOTD Thursday 17th January

Best of luck with this m8' date=' but with 3 in the same ownership, is he 3rd string?, I dont doubt the horse still has a bit of talent... will we see it today or will the hand brake be on? for the other two. Should be coupled IMO.[/quote'] Well picked...BUT WHAT A FECKIN RANCID OPERATION....Glad i dont touch irish racing, should come with a health warning.

2.10 Thurles: Quito De La Roque' date= 16/1 Bet365, win Quito De La Roque is a two time grade 1 winner and three time grade 2 winner. He hasn't got going this season but he is top class and should get back on track sooner rather than later. He was well beaten lto but he drops in class today. He drops back in trip from 3 miles to 2½ miles which I think could suit as he does have quite a good turn of foot. Today's ground will suit. Trainer Colm Murphy is in good form, with 5 winners from 23 runners since the start of December (he is one from one this year). Paul Townend is also in good form with a 19% SR this month.

And we knew he was 100% fit.? odds on, without a doubt. But it is not, its a novice chase, his first run for 9 months..and thats why we are getting the price, from a trainer who can get 1 ready, I feel i have to take a chance with this top quality hurdler. Yes he has had problems with injuries, and that is it really, if they have him close to his best and be able to finish off his race, he will chew this lot up. Fingers crossed.

  19. Re: McCoy due to release racing novel later this year

Theres a little snippet on the RP homepage saying McCoy is writing a racing novel that is going to be released in November. Interesting, considering it will be in the fiction section. I've got an idea for a racing novel myself, it is about a powerful owner that has the pick of any horse in the land due to his big cheque book and has hundreds of horses in training. He cheats the nuts off them and basically they win when he wants them to do, hard on the snaff despite being beaten by massive distances on their recent outings when working on their mark. In my story, the racing public and media are amazed that connections are allowed to get away with it, since a small owner who had a horse in training was found guilty and warned off after laying a horse of his to ultimately win the meagre sum of £500. The book ends with the conclusion that the sport is rancid, horrible, rotten to the core, and that those are the top needed to get their priorities right if they wanted to clean up the image of the sport.
I HEAR YOU! However, we will never ever get to that utopia in this sport, sad but true. The racing authorities will not chop off the hand that feeds it, they need the big owners in the sport, and I hate to sterotype, but what you see in the way you talk about mostly(not all) comes out of Ireland...I am refering to the top end of owners here. Over the Jumps there is two great powerhouses in Ireland from the ownership angle, and one great powerhouse on the flat, there has been countless moments from my experienced were horses develop wings of pegasus or run like they have lost a leg, and nothing is said. I myself never ever bet on Irish racing, you just have to watch the start of a 2 mile hurdle over there, how jockeys get away with giving 20 lens start is beyond me, this happens in every other race, and on the flat "coupling" of horses over there would sort a few things out...But that will never happen. The bottom line for me is prize money and entry fees, If you had to pay a min of £1000 entry(thats a month training fee), and 50% went to the prize pool, that would sort things out.. Also hacaps the min rating on the falt should be 60..and if your horse wants to run outside the hcap so be it..Over jumps 100. You will then get more selective entry's. Less saturation and more quality required in the UK, but alas this has to be the only business I know off were the customer is not listened to. And the bottom line is we have a choice, and from what i can see, people are voting with their feet on attendance of the middle to low end, as well as betting on this sector. But as we know there is more money made from laying in this sector from the people in the know. And for those horses that dont make the required level, Im sure TESCO will buy them,:eyes "every little helps"
  20. Re: FA Cup > 15th / 16th January

MK Dons-Sheffield Wednesday under 2.5 @1.84 4/10 188bet Milton are in por form lately. they only have a small squad, 2 important players are still out for longer times. New signing striker McLeod is cup-tied and won't play. The coach has also fitness concersn regarding midfielder Harley and striker Lowe. Wednesday are in great shape lately being the best in-form team in the Championship. They won 3-1 surprisingly at Hull although the 1:2 was an own goal. Wednesday are defending much better lately and do score less goals. In-form offensive player Helan is also cup-tied and misses out like midfielder Prutton who is suspended. Both teams score less and concede less so I expect less goals. the first match ended 0-0 as well. GL
