  1. This was nearly the fight we all wanted, but since Jose Aldo broke a rib in training, Chad 'Money' Mendes comes in on two weeks notice to face the rising enigma that is 'The Notorious' Conor McGregor. The Notorious one has an unblemished UFC record, (5-0), versus Mendes (8-2), with both loses to the pound for pound monster, Jose 'Scarface' Aldo. Mendes started as favourite, but has went out to 2.6 - This, in my opinion, screams value. The one burning question everyone has had since McGregor went on a tear is, 'how will he fair against the divisions wrestlers'. We'll now get that question answered and this is as exciting as the Aldo fight, I think. I hope Conor blow the doors clean of Mendes, but part of me thinks the UFC is doing a work on me, the same as they did when Hardy fought GSP. We've not seen Conor against someone that will relentlessly shoot for the takedown and put him under constant pressure (if he chooses to do so). Conor is a huge FW, and was supposedly 172lbs only a few days ago (has to be 145lbs tomorrow night), so it's a possibility that cut might effect him if this goes the full 5 rounds as it's a Championship fight. I hope Conors defensive wrestling is decent, and I really hope he stuffs a few TDs and blasts Mendes, but my gut feeling is that in a few ways this is a harder fight than Aldo, and he's not had the preparation to deal with someone as elite as Chad in such a short space of time. Possible late finish for Chad, or a grinding UD, which would be the worst outcome for McGregor. Elsewhere on the card, Gunner 'Gunni' Nelson looks like a decent bet (2.62), against the monstrously sized Brandon Thatch. Thatch was choked out by the old 155lb king Benson Henderson, and if Gunni can get a hold of him, I think it could end the same way. 2. Re: Boxing - Mayweather vs Pacquiao - May 2-3 I think Manny will fluster Floyd early, then Floyd will figure Manny out and win a wide decision, but due to the ineptitude of Vegas judging I'm going 'by decision or technical decision', which is 1.8 with Bet365. I'm also going to bang a small amount on the draw, again, simply because I don't trust the judges will get this correct. Moreover, a rematch will be huge.
  3. Re: UFC 172 You were right, bud. What do i know! Rumble looked fantastic! Hope you stuck a wedge on him at 7/4 !
  4. Re: UFC 172 I'm not sold on Rumble at LHW, man. As much as the fat sod can bang, and as much as Mr Wonderful hates getting hit, I'd be willing to put a decent sum on Davis not letting this stay standing for long. Johnson says he's been training sub defence of recent, but I believe (as long as he doesn't get caught), that Davis will take this to the mat awful quickly and put Rumble to sleep. Paddy Power are offering 2.88 for that. Also, check the weigh-in, if you haven't already. Rumble don't look that big any more now he's fighting at 205 instead of 170. Me? I'm going to take it rather easy, and hit up a little accy for funs sake of Jones/Davis/Miller/Benavidez/Gomi @ 5.06 Willy Hill. Good luck ya'll! 5. Re: Group G > Oct 23 (Barcelona, Benfica, Celtic, Spartak Moscow) Last one checked, Celtic were 46 with Victor Chandler. Don't think I've seen odds like that in the CL recently.
  6. Re: UFC 153 Silva v Bonnar - Bonnar has spoke about this being a tricky cut, as it was short notice, and if this was a normal 5 round main event I think that Silva may be the first to stop The American Psycho (remembering the only times he has been stopped it's through cuts, he's not been (T)KO'd or subbed). Since it's a three rounder, I believe Bonnar can have his Rocky moment, albeit, Rocky II. He's tough as they come, and although has admitted he's pooping himself about the prospect of fighting the P4P greatest, anyone that can take a round of Johnny Bones Jones deserves some respect. Fight to go the distance - Yes 4.33 Ladbrokes.
  7. Re: Group G > Oct 2 (Barcelona, Benfica, Celtic, Spartak Moscow) Anyone have some insight as to why Spartak are now out to 1.71? I I can't find much in the way of team news.
  8. Re: UEFA Champions League > Semi-Final 2nd Leg > Tuesday 24 April Can you explain how that works, bud? The lay, then the cash out. Sorry for the non game related post, folks.
  9. Re: Ufc on Fox2 I'm going the other way, and think Evans will triumph. He was brutally KO'd by Machida, but apart from that, the only other blip on his record is a draw in 2007 to Tito, and he got that back by annihilating him last August. Rashad looked head and shoulders above Tito in that fight, more explosive, fitter, and Rampage didn't look in the fight when they fought (although Evans was in trouble at one point). I can't think how Davis beats him, is he going to outgrapple or outstrike him, I don't think so? At 1.57 best though, I dont think it's worth the single, certainly not with my stakes, so have added him to an accy for fun of Evans, Sonnen, Weidman, Dunham, and Russow @ around 6/1 with Ladbrokes. Lentz is coming off a loss, and is short notice, Weidman is supposed to be a stud (aint ever seen him!), and Russow can take a camel kick, and still keep coming. If he keeps this on his feet, he destroys the likable dutch giant. I have small stakes on Maia by Sub @ 6/1 @ PaddyPower as I heard Weidman was having a tough cut, but to be honest he looked good at the weigh ins, but the price for one of the best sub artists in the UFC is value. I fear Bisping will be obliterated (hope he doesn't, but still loses), which is a shame, as I like him, but I'm ******* daft on Sonnen just now, as he talks some good smack, and looked terrific against, Stann in his last outing. The fight everyone wants is Silva v Sonnen II, and I'm no different, but just in case it doesn't, and The Count spoils the party, I've stuck a few quid on him at 3/1, as I think there is a wee bit of value in that. Also Sonnen ain't gona (T)KO him, so again, he's too small to hit on a single as I stated earlier with Evans. 12. Re: UFC 141 Man alive, I'm so effin excited for The Vanilla Gorilla v The Reem, but this has no bet all over it for me. The Reem could score an early TKO, or if Brock get the TD, he could GnP him to hamburger meat - neither would surprise me. There is only one certainty, and that is it aint going the distance, and the bookies know that (1.08 @ Paddy Power). Fitch hasn't finished anyone since 2007, and Is on most pundits top 3 at WW, so him at 1.61 @ Paddy Power to win on points looks no bad. Apart from that, I don't think I'll be dabbling in the betting market - Just goni sit back and watch the fireworks. Countdown to UFC 141 Lesnar vs Overeem - http://youtu.be/GtqNOL_JeVk?hd=1
  13. Sunday 20th 2am ESPN Main card Light Heavyweight bout: Maurício Rua vs. Dan Henderson Middleweight bout: Wanderlei Silva vs. Cung Le Bantamweight bout: Urijah Faber vs. Brian Bowles Welterweight bout: Martin Kampmann vs. Rick Story Light Heavyweight bout: Stephan Bonnar vs. Kyle Kingsbury Preliminary card (televised) Light Heavyweight bout: Ryan Bader vs. Jason Brilz Bantamweight bout: Michael McDonald vs. Alex Soto Preliminary card (Facebook) Middleweight bout: Tom Lawlor vs. Chris Weidman Lightweight bout: Gleison Tibau vs. Rafael dos Anjos Bantamweight bout: Miguel Torres vs. Nick Pace Welterweight bout: Matt Brown vs. Seth Baczynski Lightweight bout: Shamar Bailey vs. Danny Castillo Shogun/Hendo - Shogun looked unbelievable against Griffin in his last outing, but again it did't last that long, so I'm still unsure about his cardio, although it held up fine in the first Machida fight. I'm sure this is a five round title eliminator, and after Hendos demolition of Fedor, I believe the longer this goes, the more it plays into his hands. Both Hendo, and Shogun have real fire power too, and iron chins, (last time Hendo was stopped was at middleweight against the P4P champ Anderson Silva over 3 years ago / Shogun was demolished by Jones, but the fact he lasted 3 round was a testament to his durability). Really looking for odds for this to go to decision, but I dont have that many bookie accounts, so will search for that. Goni hit up Henderson to win at 2.1 with Paddy Power, but would rather him to win by decision. Will have a think about the other fights, and make some decisions closer to the event.
  14. Re: Darts: Grand Slam of Darts 2011 Looking like a fantastic bet this is. The Count is down to 28/1 with Skybet now.
