  1. Re: Poker Experience? GETT1N, just read in tonights Mercury that Gala are opening a new Casino in Highcross Street Leics in early December. Advertising for bar, restaurant people etc... Heard anything?

  2. Re: Poker Experience? Anyone played at Gala Casino in Nottingham. My mate plays on thursday nights for £20 buy-in. Usually about 60 players, starts at 9pm, re-but's til Midnight then knockout. Entry fee £30 on Sundays.

  3. Re: Poker Experience? Welcome to the Sports Bar Kirkie, there are some good players around so any questions you have dont hesitate to shout up. I play similar tournaments as you and often wondered the same thing. i think someone said that in general the standard is higher but you still get the clowns only they have more money to waste. I'm sure somone will have a better answer. Cheers

  4. Re: THE CRUISE Jezza, just like to say well done mate, sounds like it was a trip in a lifetime, one we all dare dream of someday. Just a couple questions: (1) Was this tournament for qualifiers like yourself or could you buy your way in? The reason i ask is that i knew two of the competitiors from way back and they have loads of dosh and it would be a big coincidence if they both qualified. (2) You said there were TV crews around, will it be available to view and which company were televising it. All the best mate and hope you have become a better player because of it.

  5. Re: Records Agree with 'Tiger', Inside Edge is a good read, does cover some less popular sports but the Poker columns are good. Not a bad Web Site either. Heard about another Mag called 'EuroPoker' or something, is that any good?

  6. Hi guys thought i'd start this off with the aim of finding out a bit more about the PL poker players. What game you play, how long been playing and where you play etc.. For myself ive been playing only a few months, a few of us get to together on Sunday nights and play for a few quid. We have just held our own Tournament which was a success, 12 players, 2 tables, top 3 from each table through to final table. We all put it just a tenner and all on the final table got £10 and the winner got £70. Doing it again in Oct.(Texas hold-em) As far as On-line poker goes i play the small multi-table tournaments at Bet365 and Hills, the best ive done so far is 28th out of 250. Still trying to win my first bit of prize money! Still learning but i think experience is the key and the more hands you play the more you pick up. Mainly concentrating on my own hands at the minute, trying to suss out what there worth etc. as far as reading other players and other strategy i think will come in time. Reading Skylansky's book at moment to try and understand more about the other facets of the game. He seems to favour the tight but aggressive game. Will be interested to know the best places to play on-line, i have Bet365, Hills, Laddys, VC, UK Betting, PartyPoker, Betfair and PokerStars all available but have only tried the first two. Any thoughts lads.

  7. Just a thought on this weeks Euro Tour Golf at the KClub in Ireland. Plays very much like a Links Course so past form is a help. My three against the field at decent prices are; N.Fasth 100/1 (skybet) D.Fichardt 80/1 (skybet) A.Hansen 50/1 (BlSq) Fasth has the disapointment of failing to qualify for the Open yesterday but is beginning to show some of his old form and has played well here in the past, 100/1 is way too big and represents value. Fichardt continues to play the tour very well and if he could cut out the odd 'horror hole' he would go close, putting well, makes loads of birdies and has course form. again 80/1 is good value. A.Hansen, very capable of a low 60's round and if could be abit more consistent over the 4 rounds he will be winning on the tour very soon. Also has played well around here. 72 hole match bets to get interested in are; Bjorn to bt Poulter 10/11 (sp.odds) Poulter was looking off the pace last week and hasnt played this couse very well in the past. Bjorn's coming back into form and would be no surprise to see him go close. Monty to bt Rose Evens (sp.odds) We must take on Justin Rose whoever he plays, he has missed the cut the last 3 yrs and failed to make the Open in yesterdays qualifying, he seems out of sorts just now and its our good luck that Monty is the opponent, not far off his best, played well at suunningdale yesterday so will be in great heart. Gallacher to bt McGinlay 1.95 (betfair) Been searching for a match to take on Mcginlay who plays this course badly. possibly trying too hard to win in his native land. Only Betfair have prices up and the opponent is Stephen Gallacher. He's not playing too bad so worth a chance, probrably will only have to make the cut to win. The obvious contenders i know are Clarke, Harrington, Goosen but too short to get involved with. Anybody else having a bet?
