It has taken me 4 weeks to even come and visit the site, as many of you know and many do not, I have known Paul some 30 years and in that time got to know a man who was selective about the people he chose to be in his life, he loved his punters lounge guys and girls and the numerous poker nights and race days he took great joy and pride in to know he created that, I was more a friend away from this site because truth be told gambling is not my thing as @StevieDay1983 will tell you with my horrendous premier league tips, I am actually very proud of what Paul achieved here and have told him that several times, you all should be proud to because you have help this great creation, on a more personal note I will miss my friend no no my brother, i loved the way he would tell it to me straight if I was being a d**k, also loved the way I could tell him that also, I have spent many a night in the pub (that will surprise you all  watching mostly football and for a Leeds lad he backed me up whenever I was watching Manchester United in mainly Arsenal pubs in London, away from pubs we would often discuss matters of life always with a sarcastic sense of humour attached to it, I was with Paul a lot over the last months and I would like you all to know that genuinely he did not lose that sarcastic sense of humour he was known for, one of lifes very very good guys, I love ya Paul

Very sad news to hear. Paul was not only a fantastic person to work with but also had a heart of gold. On a personal level, I've been going through a difficult time over the past couple of years and Paul offered so much support. He offered experienced advice and a sympathetic ear during the tough days. Even when he was experiencing what he was going through he was insistent on making sure I was OK. On a work note, his enthusiasm for Punters Lounge was infectious. I'd struggled to buy into any roles I'd previously had when it came to work. Paul made it easy to fully invest in this place. He not only believed in what Punters Lounge was and should become but he also believed in those that wanted to make it happen. I will miss him deeply and I certainly owe him a lot of credit for helping me get to where I am now. Rest peacefully, Paul. Thoughts go out to Kayla and all the family.

Mourinho Does have pedigree but he also has previous in falling out with players, also when he was spending millions at Chelsea, only really United could compete, now with him at United you have City, Liverpool, Chelsea Spurs and Arsenal all capable of spending big, also I was not happy when they appointed him as my view is he has a short term vision, as a United fan you never leave games early under Mourinho you didn't wanna stay, I find it strange that they appointed Solskjaer for 6 months as interim, it smacks of trying to get Pochettino (which would be a great choice if they give him rebuild time) at all cost in the summer, me I would of selected a manager I wanted, appointed him now and said you have an 8 month pre season to get ready for 2019-20 season, It's a bit desperate there at the moment, and tbh I'm not sure who would want to take the job on,  I think your boys will really fancy their chances this weekend @StevieDay1983

    Watford vs Cardiff
There are some brilliant posts in this thread already ahead of this weekend's Premier League fixtures. I think we've got a great chance of getting some wins here. My focus turns to Cardiff's trip to Watford this 3pm kick-off this Saturday afternoon at Vicarage Road.
Watford had a stunning start to the season. Things have calmed down a bit now and the early season winning run has been long forgotten. It's now 6 league games without a win. The fans still seem happy with manager Javi Gracia with the club still in 12th place but would a poor result here start to tip the scales in the other direction?
Us Cardiff fans are still just happy to enjoy it all. Neil Warnock continues to have us defying the odds. Our home form is incredible with 4 wins from our last 5 at the Cardiff City Stadium. Our away form is another story with just 1 point, a solemn draw away to 10 man Huddersfield, the only reward on our travels. That said, our performances have deserved more.
In the head-to-head, we possess a superior record to the Hornets. We have won 3, drawn 2, and lost just 1 of our last 6 meetings with Watford. Unfortunately, we've not played since 2014 so it's an archaic record but we'll still use it to our psychological advantage!
The real mountain to climb comes in one statistic. It states that if Cardiff win this weekend then it will be the first time since 1962 that the Bluebirds have won back-to-back matches in the top flight. Worryingly, I'm not confident we can win but I certainly feel we can take a point.
Every game, bar the odd blip such as the 2-1 loss to Burnley at home and the second half of the 4-1 away defeat to West Ham, we are improving. The players are becoming more streetwise for this level and their self belief is growing. I feel we can be a match for most teams this season and heading to an out-of-form Watford this weekend is a great chance to end that awful away form. Can we win? I wouldn't be surprised. I'm going to back us to draw at the very least but I actually think we can snatch something from this game if we go for it.

Now that overrated CL Tournament knock out stage qualification is achieved the Premier league takes centre stage until February I for one am pleased with that.

City V Everton. City tasted defeat for the first time this season and they will want to bounce back in style, Everton can be really stubborn but I expect City to come through this one. City Halftime/City fulltime 3/4 Ladbrokes

Palace V Leicester. Palace are not hard to figure out, stop a couple of players and you stop them, Leicester will be happy to sucker punch on the counter and I think that will bring 3 points to the Foxes. UNDER 2.5 GOALS @ 11/17 188BET

Huddersfield V Newcastle. Everytime I think Newcastle will struggle they go and get some kind of result, a match where both teams will be desperate for 3 points and I think that will make it end in a draw. DRAW @ 21/10 BETVICTOR, SPORTINGBET & 188BET

Spurs V Burnley.  Spurs will be buzzing having got Through a tough CL Group. That strangely can sometimes have the adverse effect on the team however I don't expect that to happen to Spurs and I think they will see of Burnley quite easily. OVER 3.5 GOALS @ 6/5 BETVICTOR

Watford V Cardiff. Watford will fancy this one and most will agree with them on that, Like I always say I like Warnock and actually think he is doing an amazing job with the squad and budget he has, I am going for a draw here. DRAW @ 58/19 UNIBET

Wolves V Bournemouth. Finding this one harder than I thought although Wolves are off two good wins and Bournemouth are off of a hammering at home, so logic says a comfy win for Wolves, but if Logic played a part in Football, we'd all be rich. BOURNEMOUTH TO WIN @ 31/10 MARATHONBET, BETFAIR & BETVICTOR

Fulham V West Ham. Well Fulham were very poor at Old Trafford and West ham have won 3 on the bounce so confidence will be high, Ranieri will try and make Fulham hard to beat especially at home but I feel Wwest Ham may nick this with the odd goal in 3. OVER 2.5 GOALS @ 9/13 188BET

Brighton V Chelsea. Brighton have gotten in to the habit of beating the teams around them and them teams that are expected to struggle. Chelsea are off of a morale boosting home win against City and I see Chelsea continuing here. OVER 3.5 GOALS @ 85/40 BETVICTOR

Southampton V Arsenal. I think Southampton are doomed for relegation this year but their hopes are being kept alive by poor form all around them, this seems to be a different Arsenal team this year, little bit of resilience about them although I don't think they will need that in this fixture. I expect them to hold Southampton to nil. BOTH TEAMS TO SCORE, NO @ 8/5 BETVICTOR

SO ON TO THE BIG WEEKEND GAME.
Now those that know me know I don't watch this game for reasons I will not divulge
Liverpool V Man United. Liverpool reached the summit last week and they will fully expect to Beat United and stay there but this fixture vary rarely is straight forward and I was surprised to learn Liverpool have not beaten United at Anfield since 2013, now with all that said that run should come to an end this week, I fully expect the negative Mourinho tactics to be in full effect this Sunday and try to go for a bore draw or a 3 point snatch, But I think Liverpool will come flying out and if they get an early goal that should be that. LIVERPOOL HALFTIME/LIVERPOOL FULLTIME @ 29/20 LADBROKES, BETVICTOR, CORALS, BOYLESPORTS & BETSTARS

    Wolverhampton Wanderers V AFC Bournemouth
    AFC Bournemouth +0.75 AH @ 1.75 Betvictor
As @Roy The Boy has already mentioned; this is a difficult match to predict. I do still think that the markets are overzealous with Wolves and I would not make them odds on at home to a Bouremouth side who are the more clinical infront of goal.
To give Wolves their due, they have improved with regards to attacking performance in recent games and this is reflected in their ELO ratings. They have won two league games on the bounce and players like Diogo Jota are starting to get amongst the goals which bodes well for both him and the team going forward at EPL level.
Despite this, we can see that Bournemouth still have a markedly superior chance conversion rate, their ELO performance is getting on for half a goal better and they are marginally ahead on key goal metrics. Striker Callum Wilson is also back in contention to play this weekend which is a big boost for Eddie Howe's team.
To summarise, we can see that Wolves are in a good moment and their attacking performances are improving. Despite these improvements, Bournemouth are still superior by most if not all key attacking metrics. Should Bournemouth be available on the +0.75 line here? Personally I think the markets are being generous and taking Bournemouth on said asian line @ 1.7 or above seems to be the value play in a match which is hard to predict.

It's back at the Palace, The William Hill PDC Darts Championships kick off today and it is probably the most open it has been for years, although MVG & Gary Anderson both seem to be in a fair bit of form, and the longer match format suits the more consistent players (I know I know obvious statement) That is why you will find Michael Van Gerwen very short to win the tournament as short as 11/8 at most places though you can get 7/4 about him clinching another title. There are some players that may be worth a punt here and if you spread your bets wisely could come up trumps. here is a little list of players to watch in my opinion.
     he may be worth a
Gerwyn Price has finally got himself a TV Title causing a little bit of a ruffle on the way to it, I like this guy and I like that he doesn't really care for reputation and that can go a long way at the worlds 33/1 at most places although you can get 40/1, may be worth a cheeky EW Bet.
Mensur Suljovic. another player that doesn't care to much for reputation and if he gets it right can cause some major upsets and go all the way, Got some steady nerves on him and can finish a leg in the high % another one worth a little tickle in my opinion, generally found at 20/1 or 22/1
Adrian Lewis. Well Jackpot has been out of sorts with his darts for a while now, but he is slowly crawling back up the rankings and has the winning experience at the Palace, I have put him in here because he is generally 66/1 although I have seen 80/1 To win it outright, now I don't think he will but he may be worth a punt in the matches as they go along.
Daryl Gurney. Superchin throws some cracking darts at times and if he can hold it together could go all the way another one of the players that doesn't seem to care who he is playing however his own mind seems to wander and that is what cost him at a few tournaments. 33/1 Generally across the board.
Those are my 4 outsiders that I think are in with a shout.

Some good points on here this week, here are mine!
    Burnley V Brighton
@Mindfulness has called this match about right

I'd agree with you all that it is time for a Burnley win. They showed a little more character against Liverpool in mid week, and they will see this game as an opportunity to get their first win. Based on the law of averages, Brighton have won their last 2 matches. Are they likely to win 3 in a row? I doubt it very much. Are Burnley due a win at last- Yes!
Although I will lay off the result, instead opting for Corners, as I think the home side just have to take the game to Brighton.
Also, Brighton have scored in each of their last five games, so BTTS could be a decent shout too
    Burnley most corners - 2.1
    BTTS - 1.95
    Cardiff V Stains
Quite simply 2 teams that will be going for it. As mentioned earlier by our our Welsh correspondent @StevieDay1983 Neil Warhorse will be looking for a reaction from his players after the midweek defeat. They have been playing well by all accounts, so I'm pretty confident that they will score. The visitors will also have a spring in their step now the new manager has arrived. I think this was evident on Wednesday, when some decent Spurs goalkeeping kept them to just 1 goal. I'd be pretty confident of them scoring too, so.....
    BTTS - 1.8
    O2.5 Goals - 2.1
    Wet Spam V Crappy Palarse
After witnessing a lacklustre display from Palace in midweek, and with the Hammers hitting some decent form, I'd be confident in backing a comprehensive result for the home team. Palace's problem is scoring goals, so...
West Ham to win to nil - 3.75
    Leicester V Spurs
    BTTS & O2.5 goals - 2.1
Hopefully I'll get something right from this lot! Good luck

Roy, you're right. That's the problem with us at the moment. We're not making the small moments count. Every time we concede the first goal away you can guarantee we have missed a golden chance literally seconds before. It's the brutal reality of the Premier League. The most annoying thing about the whole penalty issue is that Victor Camarasa wanted to take it but Joe Ralls refused to let anyone else have it. Camarasa was the player everyone, including Warnock, wanted to take it.
I'm torn over Ralls. Never been his biggest fan. I've always felt he's had a fair share of lenience from fans (the same as Harris) because he's spent time in the club's youth set-up before coming into the first team. However, I felt he just about coped at Championship level. In the Premier League, he's out of his depth. He let us down by getting sent off against Tottenham and now he's missed this pen so the fans have finally lost patience with his attitude and performances.
The key thing here is that after a disappointing display Warnock always has us bouncing back. You've all seen his changing room rants. I dread to think what he said after that West Ham game to the players. He was raging during the game. Everyone's talking about the Southampton new manager bounce. Watch out for our angry Warnock bounce!
P.s. I apologise if we let you down!

    Cardiff vs Southampton
OK, so I'm still nursing a wounded heart after our 3-1 defeat away to West Ham in midweek. It was a massive disappointment because we missed the penalty and really should have been ahead at that point anyway. Still, this Saturday delivers another crunch game at home against fellow strugglers Southampton in a 3pm kick-off at the Cardiff City Stadium.
Cardiff have looked like they are adapting to Premier League life a bit better recently. The team in general is showing more confidence. The problem that still plagues us is momentary lapses of concentration. It cost us points against Leicester, Everton, and now West Ham over recent weeks. The top flight is a cruel mistress and it punishes those lapses.
That's the difference between the Premier League and Championship. Right now, we're still outside the relegation zone but we need to pick up more points in those games where we compete and have our chances. We are in 16th place but just 2 points outside the bottom three. A loss here could see us slide back into the relegation zone heading into Christmas.
Southampton are actually worse off than Cardiff. Mark Hughes was sacked a few days ago after just 1 win all season but the club has moved quickly to bring in former Ingolstadt and RB Leipzig manager Ralph Hasenhuttl. The Saints have a track record of making shrewd managerial appointments over recent years with the likes of Mauricio Pochettino, Ronald Koeman, and Claude Puel all delivering decent results. However, recent appointments of Mauricio Pellegrino and Mark Hughes haven't worked out quite as well. Hasenhuttl is a gamble but Saints don't have the luxury of a sure thing right now.
The "Alpen Klopp" has a reputation for a high press game. That will play into our hands. We had teams come at us all season last year and it's what we built our counter attacking play on. I'm not sure Southampton currently have the personnel to maximise that strategy. Maybe they do. It'll depend how the players react to the new approach. I suppose the likes of Shane Long, Steven Davis, and Stuart Armstrong could adapt well.
Anyway, this could be a tough game for both teams. Neil Warnock was clearly raging after Tuesday night so he'll get a reaction from the players. There have been calls from our fans for Joe Ralls to be dropped and for Victor Camarasa to move central for a while. I think the penalty miss and the general performance from Ralls on Tuesday could trigger it. I can see Murphy coming back into the side with Hoilett on the other wing. Camarasa, Arter, and Gunnarsson in the middle.
I'm torn about what to back. I really think we can get the win here. There's a lot of talk about the new manager bounce but it's a big job Hasenhuttl has. He needs to change more than just the tactics. He needs to change the mentality and the morale of the team. We're turning the Cardiff City Stadium into a bit of a fortress and I think we could sneak the win here. That is me being an optimistic fan though so you might be better advised following @Mindfulness's advice on the draw! However, I do think Hasenhuttl could well still save Southampton. Might need a bit of time and a couple of new faces to see that change happen.

    X @ 3.30 Betfair
On paper this game should be close, Cardiff have looked decent in recent matches, particularly at home where you can see the spirit level is good. Southampton sit 2 places and 2 points below Cardiff in the table and the away side should be buoyed by the arrival of new manager Ralph Hasenhuttl.
ELO ratings between the two are virtually identical and I think we have an increased chance of stalemate here so I will back the draw.

    Newcastle Utd V Wolverhampton Wanderers
    X @ 3.15 Unibet
Both these teams achieved morale boosting results in midweek and it's hard to see either side loosing on Sunday. After discounting the home game against West Ham, we can see that Newcastle games are generally close and usually decided by a single goal margin. They are hard to beat under Benitez and I like their defence even more now that Jamaal Lascelles has returned from injury.
Wolves are a bit of a glamour club now and their international calibre imports enjoy playing in games against the big 6. I still feel they have problems scoring goals and opposition manager Rafa Benitez has the tactical nous to disrupt Wolves's?ez?'es?'ss?'sss? tricky 3-4-3 system.
ELO ratings correlate with my view of the game. I can see this one ending in a low scoring stalemate so I will back the draw here.

Bournemouth V Liverpool. Liverpool are developing the ability to not play so well and win, always handy when challenging for the title, I think they will nick this with a couple of late goals. DRAW HALF TIME/LIVERPOOL FULL TIME @ 4/1 MARATHONBET

Arsenal V Huddersfield. Arsenal would of been a little disappointed with only a point at Old Trafford and I expect them to make amends here, although Huddersfield have improved and maybe Arsenals style will suit them, however a home win is inevitable. UNDER 2.5 GOALS @ 4/7 BETFAIR

Burnley V Brighton. Agree with above statements that Burnley must start to get some points from these fixtures and I think they might this eek, not faulting Brighton and Chris Hughton, they play the right way and I like the guy, however I think Burnley will just edge this. OVER 2.5 GOALS @ 77/50 MARATHON BET

Cardiff V Southampton. @StevieDay1983 How the West Ham game would of been different if that early pen had gone in. A week ago I would of had Cardiff in this for sure, however the new manager syndrome could come in to effect here, amazes me how many teams win the first game of a new managers reign, so I am not so sure on the outcome of this match, this is a loose one for me in terms of betting however i'll go for CARDIFF TO WIN @ 2/1 BETWAY

Man United V Fulham. Surely Surely United will end their run of draws here?? Ranieri will probably set up being hard to break down and United find it hard to break sides down with their lack of fluid football however they have to start winning and the manager may have to stat throwing caution to the wind, with that said there seems to be considerable unrest at United with the managers style, still think they will win though. DRAW HALFTIME/UNITED FULLTIME @ 18/5 MARATHONBET

West  Ham V Palace. Where to start with the if's but's and maybe's, if Cardiff score the pen, If Palace could play the same two games running. I think this will be quite a tough encounter and in a rather cliche way the first goal here will be of paramount importance as both sides wobble when conceding first, think Palace will give this a better go than they did at Brighton, that said i'm opting for a draw here, but a scoring one so UNDER 1.5 GOALS @ 13/5 UNIBET & 888SPORT

THIS IS UNDOUBTEDLY THE FIXTURE OF THE WEEKEND
Chelsea V Man City. With Chelsea's surprise defeat at Wolves and City seeming to march towards the title this fixture is probably beneficial to a team not playing in it ( Liverpool ) the reds will be hoping for a home win or at least a Draw, City do not seem to change their approach to any fixture and this will be no different but Chelsea will be keen to put a dent in City's charge, I think this will be a tough one but I expect City to just nick this also. CITY HALFTIME/CITY FULLTIME @ 21/10 BET365

Leicester V Spurs. Another tough one this in my opinion but Spurs do seem to come up with a way of winning these tough ones at clubs Like Leicester. I think the outstanding bet here is for both teams to score @ 9/13 10BET & SPORTPESA

Newcastle V Wolves. Are the Wanderers finding form again, they will no doubt be buoyant after a superb win over Chelsea and Newcastle too after a hearty point at Goodison, Newcastle are so indifferent and that makes this tough as they will expect to win this sort of fixture at home, and Wolves will think they can get 3 more points here. hard to call for me. OVER 2.5 GOALS @ 38/25 MARATHONBET
