cc135 reacted to Darran in Non-League Predictions > 29th May
So we finally get to the final day of the regular season. It has been strange just focusing on the one league since January and it has made things tricky at times, but May especially has been a good month. Hopefully we can end it with a profit on Saturday and I have 4 bets.
    Altrincham v Torquay
Altrincham had been struggling for a while, but a dramatic 4-3 win against Yeovil and a 1-1 draw against Eastleigh on Tuesday night mean they are ending the season in strong fashion. They played really well on Tuesday against a side of course who are going for the play-offs. I think the crowd helped in that regard and I can see them getting a result here. Torquay can only finish 2nd now and I would imagine they wont want to risk injuries to key players ahead of the play-offs especially as they have suffered from injuries during the season which has probably cost them the title. With that in mind Altrincham are over priced at 4/1.
    Barnet v Sutton
Sutton sealed the title on Sunday with a very good performance over Hartlepool and they have been so consistent since last January. The job is done and they wont really care what happens in their final non-league game for now. I don't really need to repeat my thoughts on Barnet and their improvement and they won for us again on Tuesday night. Their first goal was a cracking move as well and after getting a point at Torquay last week I think they have a real chance of picking up 3 here. 6/1 is a crazy price in the circumstances and they should be at least half that if not shorter.
    Kings Lynn v Aldershot
I am actually backing the home side here. They did well with a crowd behind them on Tuesday night against Solihull and with Aldershot not really convincing of late especially away from home I think there is some value in backing Kings Lynn to pick up 3 points.
    Solihull v Eastleigh
Speaking of Solihull they did at least keep their unbeaten run going and as I have mentioned a few times their home form has been really strong. Not surprisingly they are drifting because Eastleigh need to win this to give them any sort of chance of getting into the play-offs, but I just get a feeling they are running out of steam based on their performance on Tuesday at Altrincham and they could have had a much easier game than facing a Solihull side who have won 8 of their last 9 home games and the one they didn't win was a 0-0 draw against Sutton. I am more than happy to take a chance on them making it 9/10 home victories.
    Altrincham 1pt @ 4/1 with Bet365
    Barnet 1pt @ 6/1 with William Hill
Kings Lynn 1pt @ 8/5 with William Hill
    Solihull 1pt @ 14/5 with William Hill

Maidenhead United vs Aldershot (1) DNB 1.80 1u
More of a bet against Aldershot who are missing Topscorers Chislett and Bettamer. Maidenhead nothing special, but with a full squad and at home, DNB seems worth a punt.
    Boreham Wood vs Yeovil (1) -0.25 2.07 1u
Yeovil are very bad travellers, while Boreham Wood are a tough nut to crack at home. BHW to win this...no major injuries to both squads, i think home advantage and also over goals will come.

Chorley with six changes and missing Holroyd, seems a reaction to loss last game. Daggers recover Quigley and Luque, imo good enough for the home win.

    Aldershot vs Eastleigh (2) DNB 1.98 1u
Rendell fails to recover for this match and this is a huge blow to Aldershot. Two new signings start for them, but their inability to score will haunt them imo. Eastleigh with best possible lineup, should have too much quality in the end. DNB is generous enough.
    Maidstone vs AFC Fylde (2) 1.85 1u
AFC Fylde with the same lineup vs Solihull, should have too much for Maidstone who are still without Turgott and today starting with four debutantes.

    Braintree vs Barnet (2) 1.90 1u
Braintree played a verty dull game last game in which nothing was created, there was zero save made and they play the same lineup today. Barnet with the same lineup that won vs the Blades in the FA cup, should win... quality is much higher.

Yeah but that’s because he’s only just joined is basically a first teamer though. Will be interesting to see what team they put out in the replay.

    Dover vs Havant (2) +0.5 1.87
Normally, i wouldn't be backing Havant, but Dover's lineup is really weak and their intent (or lack of it) in this trophy is apparent. 7 changes tonight, with no regular attackers in the lineup, starting an academy player as well, all in all, i see only 4 starters. Havant are no world-beaters, they are in the same zone as Dover in the table, but their lineup tonight is much better, only one non regular in the lineup, Good luck!

    Hartlepool United vs AFC Fylde (2) -0.25 1.86 1u
Hartlepool missing Noble and Muir, top two goalscorers, again. They have been poor for the last two games and hard to see them suddenly  turning the corner. AFC Fylde gets back Andy Bond, very influential midfielder and i see them closer to the win.
    Leyton Orient vs Aldershot (1) -1 1.94 1u
Leyton unchanged from last game, while Shots making 5 changes, missing reg players Lelan, Booty, Agyepong, and attacker Fenelon, their away form is just very uninspiring, Leyton to win this in the end.

Yeah I am very surprised by that although but there we go. Aldershot sadly couldn’t hold on but the other 3 bets were winners and my one non league bet won at a huge price as well.

    Bromley vs Hartlepool (2) DNB 2.01 1u
Hartlepool were the better side against Wrexham, even with a man down, that game should have drawn. Hartlepool have only lost two away games against Wrexham and Salford, hopefully they will at least not lose this one.

Hindle still missing for Barrow and the offence lies on 19 yo Tyler Smith. On top of that, Barrow making 3 changes for tonght. Harrogate's Muldoon is back to boost their attack and this can only be good news. Barrow so far are nothing special away from home and i expect Harrogate to take all three points.

    Barrow vs Barnet (2) DNB 1.89 1u
Barnet played a good game last game, winning Solihull Moors by two goals in a deserved win. Tomorrow they face Barrow, who lost vs Bromley and did not create much in that game. Barnet have lost three games so far and let in 7 goals in all their away games. However, those 3 losses came against Wrexham, Leyton Orient and Harrogate 2nd, 3rd and 4th in the league and 6 of the 7 goals conceded were against them. Barnet have already played Bromley, Barrow's opponent last week,  and in that game, were deserved victors.

Good to have a really good Saturday last weekend with 3 of the 4 National League bets landing. Didn't have as much fortune on the FA Cup front but the next round should bring plenty of opportunities on that front next weekend. This Saturday it is Non-League Day and I urge anyone reading this who can go to a game at the weekend to go and do so especially if you haven't been to watch your local team before. I will be watching Billericay v Gloucester and as much as I fully expect my team to lose I am really interested to see Billericay in action especially from an ante-post perspective as I am sure a few of you have got some fancy prices about them. Hopefully it will be a profitable Non-League Day and I have five bets.
Dagenham & Redbridge v Wrexham (National League)
Surely Peter Taylor won't be in the Dagenham hot-seat for too much longer. They had a 4 game unbeaten spell, but apart from that have looked every bit relegation candidates and I don't see Taylor bringing about any improvement and he is the wrong man for the job. Wrexham on the other-hand have their eyes firmly on promotion although I suspect that will be via the play-offs rather than winning the title. Their only defeat in their last 8 games was when I put them up to beat Sutton, but that looks every bit the one off I thought it would be and Dagenham are no Sutton. Skybet are even money if you can get on although the shade of odds on elsewhere is acceptable as well.
    Eastleigh v Aldershot (National League)
Slightly risky to want to back a team who have only picked up one point on their travels this season playing against a team who have won 4 on the bounce and are unbeaten in 6, but I think Aldershot are worth backing here. As I highlighted last week Aldershot are an improving side and they dispatched Halifax without too many worries last weekend. I am hoping that they can continue that on their travels and the fact they got a draw at Hartlepool two weeks ago gives me confidence that they can. Eastleigh lost their manager in the week and it might just upset their good run of form. This could be the perfect time to be playing them and the Aldershot players should be full of confidence at the moment. The 61/25 about an away with Marathon is way too big for me.
    Halifax v Chesterfield (National League)
Yes I am going to oppose Chesterfield again in the live TV game on BT Sport at Saturday teatime. Yet again they are short price favourites away from home and although we didn't get a result in Chesterfield's last two games as they have drawn them they are a stupid price yet again. Now granted Halifax aren't exactly winning football matches either at the moment, but at home only Hartlepool have beaten them so far this term. Either side of that defeat they have drawn against Leyton Orient and AFC Fylde. It has been 8 games since a win, but they have drawn 5 of them. The two 3-0 defeats have both come on their travels and as pointed out above Aldershot are improving fast. Chesterfield have scored just 3 times in their last 10 games which is pretty shocking really and given Halifax have only scored 7 in that time we could be looking at a pretty dull affair (a bit like most of the games BT have chosen this season as they have made some shocking choices), but Halifax are good value 9/4 with Bet 365 to win the game. Some people might want the draw onside, but I think having a small bet on the no goalscorer at 15/2 (Bet 365) and on 1-1 at 11/2 (Betway and BetVictor) is the best way to cover the win bet and if Halifax win 1-0 via an own goal we have hit the jackpot!
    Solihull v Ebbsfleet (National League)
Opposing Ebbsfleet got us a nice profit last weekend and although their away form is better than their home form I am more than happy to take them on again. They have only lost one on their travels, but that came in a heavy 4-1 defeat at Wrexham. Prior to that they had drawn at Dover which sums up their level at the moment. They did beat Dagenham in their last away game, but again that hardly says a lot and this match should be much tougher. Ebbsfleet were poor at home to Harrogate last Saturday and they again continue to look a fair way of the pace. Solihull weren't great themselves last weekend when losing 2-0 at Barnet, but their away performances haven't been as good as their home ones. So far in 7 home games they have conceded just 3 times and lost just the once to Hartlepool. I have put them up in both their last two home victories and I think they can land a 3rd home win on the bounce. 5/4 with William Hill and Betfred looks a big price to me as I would make it an odds on shot.
Chippenham v Dartford (National League South)
As I have mentioned before Dartford look a million miles away from the team who nearly won the league last season, yet they are still being priced up as if they are. They did manage a 1-1 draw against Billericay in their last league away game, but they have lost 3 of their other 5 without scoring a goal and were hammered 4-1 at Oxford City in the FA Cup last Saturday. Again Chippenham are a side who I have written about in recent weeks and although they cost me the FA Cup acca a couple of weeks ago they have been playing well otherwise. They beat Hendon in the FA Cup easily in the week and at home they have won 4 out of five in the league including beating Billericay. Chippenham should be favourites for this and it is crazy that they aren't. BetVictor's 9/5 is a very attractive price.
Wrexham 2.5pts @ Evs with Skybet
    Aldershot 1pt @ 61/25 with Marathon
    Halifax 1pt at 9/4 with Bet365 No goalscorer 0.5pts @ 15/2 with Bet365 and 1-1 @ 11/2 with Betway and BetVictor
Solihull 3pts @ 5/4 with William Hill and Betfred
    Chippenham 1pt @ 9/5 with BetVictor

    Barnet vs Havant (1) 1.86 1u
Havant were toothless last game against Ebbs and even when Clarke was sent off, Havant weren't able to capitalise. Barnet got a credible draw against AFC Fylde, and i see them to build on that and get the win against the unconvincing Hawks.
    Halifax vs Fylde (2) Asian HDP -0.25 1.96 1u
Brown and Kosylo were sent off for Halifax last game and missing two regulars for a squad of Halifax size is surely damaging. Fylde played well vs Barnet and in truth, were the better team, Fylde to win it is my call.

I seem to be finding those teams who decide to have horror shows. Wrexham won't have a first half like that for the rest of the season. Sutton made 6 changes from Tuesday night and that seems to have been the key. At least Solihull have been good.

I’m still hopeful Barnet can be contenders. They have a lot of injuries at the moment and it was probably the wrong time for them to go to orient. Having said that I’m sort of thinking that it might be a two season job for Still. Wrexham’s key thing is they are scoring goals now which was their downfall last season. I’d be surprised if Harrogate stayed there but then everyone said that about Macclesfield last season. Fylde look dangerous but they need to win more away from home.
