    Re: Southwell 13/1/09 Red Tarn 13:30 Southwell Finally won for the first time lto as the 11-8 favorite. Won here from a furlong shorter trip in an apprentice maiden event. Travis Block did well to win by a neck with 3rd another 12 lengths behind 2nd. Tom Eaves returns to the saddle and the extra furlong in trip should suit. Red Tarn does have his worst course effort from this distance but in better shape now. He went up 4 furlongs the first time trying this trip and that is plenty to ask for. Lost by 4 lengths that day but followed up with a 2/10 by 2 1/2 and a win over 11f. Has to be in the shortlist. 5pts ew @ 5-1 Tri Chara (IRE) 16:00 Southwell Two wins from two runs here. Both at 7f. Stable is in too good of a form to think the weights can stop stop him today. R Hollinshead in Class 5 that raced in a Class 5 LTO since 2008 have a good record. Must be running on the All-Weather. 112201 since 22Nov08 from 4 runners. 10pts to win Monaadi (IRE) is another 5 to 5 runner that might run on Thursday at Southwell.

Trainer P F I Cole had a handicap winner yesterday that was on his handicap debut. Cole's form since Desert Strike last raced is 74321. 10pts to win Milne Bay (IRE) 14:40 Great Leighs Going for the Hat-Trick today. Won at C&D by 1L two runs ago and at Wolverhampton's 7f trip lto. He's taken up in Class from lto but he won at the same Class when he won here. Defeated River Kirov lto. Kirov had gone 4111 since. Only his 10th race so there should be more progress to expect. 10pts to win Networker 15:40 Great Leighs Jockey J P Spencer is booked for this 1m Handicap. Spencer have won his last 4 rides over the course and distance. Trainer P J McBride has his horses in good shape - 4214 since 17Dec08. 10pts to win

Has 2 wins and 3 seconds from 8 lifetime runs over hurdles. 3rd or better in 6 of 12 chase starts. His form in Irish soil is 136211P since 18Jul07. 6122P last year. Drops 4 furlong from his last race and that may be what gets him back in front. Form over 20f since 18Jul07 is any races is 111221. EW

Career debut was here over 7f and it was for 4th, beaten 3 3/4 lengths. His win made trainer J G Given a winner of the last two 9f runners to race here. Given's only runner today. 3pts ew @ 10-1 paddypower Wolverhampton 17:10 El Diego (IRE) Only runner of the day from trainer J Gask. Gask comes in after having won two of his last four with jockey Chris Catlin on board. El Diego was the 4-7f lto when he won his first career race in a 1m4f Maiden at Southwell Second horse was 3/4 length behind and third another 10 back. 5pts ew @ 13-2 Bet365 BOG Wolverhampton 17:10 Mission Control (IRE) Rise up one Class after a 2 length victory at Kempton 3 weeks ago. His first three career runs had come here winning two over 9f after a 7/10 effort for M Johnston. Transfered to current trainer J R Boyle after that. Jockey Pat Cosgrave was on board both wins and he was also on for lto. Cosgrave is booked again and they can make it four wins from four today. 10pts win @ 15-8 Bet365 BOG

This third straight race with Crawley can make him even better. Current favorite at 4s. He did not have an easy win lto as he had to battle Gonebeyondrecall (IRE) for the 3/4 length win. 5pts to win @ 4-1 Bet365 BOG Naples Debut for new yard - former N Meade inmate. 204 days off. His best effort at this course came in 2006 when 725 in a Listed HcH. He pulled up on his other two runs here but that being chases can be treated differently. The placed effort came at this tracks 2m5f110y. 8 lengths behind 10-11F Freeze The Flame. 2pts ew @ 25-1 Skybet Methodical 15:50 Fakenham Tipped her when she won at Class 3 at Hereford 02Dec08.

    Methodical 14:10 Hereford Bottom weight for this Claiming Chase and it might just help him get out of recent bad form. He went 2113 from August to December last year until following with a 4PU8PU. Stable is in good shape and this is his second run since returning from summer break. Jockey K Renwick is also is decent form with two wins, three 2nds and five 3rds from the last 25 rides. Renwick in rides of 24f or more has a form of 3,8,pu,5,3,1,2,3 since 12Nov08. 313 is the form of trainer/jockey combo in races of 24f or longer. 3pts ew @ 14-1 Bet365 BOG

Finished 11 of 18 by 57 lengths. He defeated the winner by 13 lengths two months earlier. Racing Post Analysis of the race said: "..did not get much peace in front and was soon done with when taken on running down to the penultimate flight." What A Friend is 8-1 for the RSA whom Carruthers lost to by 2L on his reappearance/chase debut last October. He defeated What A Fried by a length on his hurdle debut in Nov07. Current favorite for the race is 6-1 (Betfred) Breedzbreeze. I think he's still under the radar because he's not found a race to go into for a while. Overall he's a useful sort who should not be as big as 33-1. There is also the possibility he'd be able to be layed at a lower price after today's race at Fakenham (1:50). 1pt ew @ 33-1 Sportingbet

I like his chance to get better from that. He was 10 lengths behind 4th placed Tender Falcon who followed up with a handicap win. He'll be better suited by the trip now that he has experience over 2m4f. 3pts ew Arctic Ben (IRE) 13:20 Fakenham Won debut when landing a bumper at Ludlow by 2 1/4 lengths last May. Jockey Richard Johnson was on board that day but he was not booked for the next two. 5/16 by 14 1/2 and 8/9 by 68 lengths with Mark Bradburne on board - Md and Nv hurdles. Johnson is scheduled to be back today so expecting a better effort is likely. 5pts ew

Ground suits - won only run on it. Also has a win on Yld, Sft pl. He's been in decent shape since falling at Gowran Park on his reappearance in October. 156 since that day. 2 wins, 3 seconds from 10 hurdle runs are good numbers for an e/w. 1pt ew @ 20-1 Bet365 BOG Bellflower Boy (IRE) Had a four-timer from October '07 to January '08 over 20 to 22 furlongs. 3m trips after that was for a PU and 24/25. Placed 2nd and 5th when dropped back in trip. The rest likes to stay back and throw it down late in the race. Motaraqeb is the Hennessy only runner today. The two NH wins had come at 2m so the drop of two furlongs from lto will help. 01501043U0 is his form at 16f. It is very inconsistent but it may change being with a trainer. 1pt ew @ 20-1 Paddy Power Bogus Dreams (IRE) First time blinkers. This might be easier than lto's 0-120 Handicap Hurdle. 81-109 today. Second start for new yard after an 8/15 in a 2m4f race. Drop of 4 today should suit very well. He was trained by D J P Barry in three races back in '06-07 for 2 wins and a 4th - all 2m races. Trainer after that could do nothing right - 12th, 17th, 22th, and 12th. Lungo trained him before Barry and they won 3 of 8 runs together. 40s is a good price for this one. 1pt ew @ 33-1 Bet365 BOG
