  1. Re: Grand National 2008 There are some absolute set in stone stats that we must take heed of and allow us to narrow down the Grand National field before we consider form and going preferences of the runners. Just one winner of the Grand National has never won at 3 miles or more so every horse you consider must have won over 3 miles plus. Weight is obviously a big factor and the most weight carried to victory was Red Rum carrying 11-6. The way the weights are this year there is a fair chance we could get an 11 stone winner so I am going to rule out anything above 11-2 as nothing
  2. Re: Grand National 2008 Great work AK1979. I found this: http://www.grand-national-guide.co.uk/ If you click on the winner trends you can input all your stats and it narrows the field down for you. Good if you want to fiddle around with your stats and try different ones. Saves looking at the form of every single runner!!
  3. Re: Grand National 2008 Hope it runs well for you, will be interesting to see how others with headgear get on, does that include point barrow?
  4. Re: Grand National 2008 Does Comply or Die not where blinkers? Read something about horses having a poor record in the national if they have headgear on, something about needing all of your peripheral vision for the big obstacles and horses around you.
  5. Couldn't find a thread discussing it in detail so thought as we are close enough now is the time to have one. I really fancied Parsons Legacy for this and my 40/1 was beginning to look great until it was withdrawn without explanation this week. So, I now need a new fancy to follow but don't really like the look of anything at the head of the betting. Any suggestions? What do you fancy and why? Any stats followers have the trends we need for picking the winner? Let's hope we can find the winner!
  6. Re: The Lincoln~Sat 22nd March BTW, if you backed Zaahid or any other horse that was declared but didnt make the cut you should receive your stake back.
  7. Re: The Lincoln~Sat 22nd March I fancy Raptor, needs a strong pace and soft ground to be seen to his best effect. Might actually be better when running over another couple of furlongs but this race will play to his strengths and has a good chance of placing at least.
