  1. There's definitely a bit of value in Blackburn to beat Blackpool at home @1.83. Blackburn are a poor team but they have had a run of 5/6 games where they've done ok against much better sides in their division. There's lots of Scottish lads in the dressing and I'd imagine Coyle will have instilled a decent cup mentality in them. They had a decent result away to QPR in the last round as well.

Looking at Newcastle also who should have far too much squad depth for Oxford, who don't have a huge amount of firepower themselves. I know Mitrovic and Gamez have both travelled so that's a great option to have from the bench should things get tricky for Newcastle. They are also the most unreliable side ever when I tip them so proceed with caution!

Motherwell v Rangers both teams to score @1.65 also looks tempting given the last three matches have ended 2-1 to Rangers. I watched the most recent and both defences are shaky. Motherwell have a target man (Moult) on form who has caused the Rangers defence lots of problems previously. Motherwell have a really poor, ageing defence so Rangers (at times) quick one touch passing cuts right through them. Rangers also have an awful away record and their league position is heavy reliant on their home form.

Edit: Hughton has said he will made wholesale changes for the Brighton match so I'd be tempted to avoid high stakes even against lowly Lincoln personally.

  2. Videoton-BATE Both sides are extremely defensively minded and have no potential attacking threats. Both rely on solid defending and midfield area and i would be very interested to see how this similiar line-ups fight against each other.Videoton eliminated T.N.S after going to ET.It will be fair to say that VIdeoton were the better of the two in both fixtures but poor finishing in Hungary could've let them down.Anyway they were victorious in the ET and here they are facing BATE who beat Dundalk at home and drew 0:0 on the road.BATE faced Levski a several years ago and they were as defensive as they are now.On the road it;s even worse. They park the bus at the back and just wait. They have no real attacking weapons and rely mostly on physical strenght and tackling. They will be without their 2nd top scorer for today which will limit their attacking options even more and should help this bet.Videoton are not technically gifted either and i won't be surprised to see many yellow cards here with more tackles and less of a football. The way i see it, it will be a 0:0 or 1:0 kind of game.Under 2 @ evens with bet365.GL!
Ouch. Almost a great tip. I followed you on under 2 on small stakes and under 2.5 on medium. Looked all the way in on both :(
  3. Re: UEFA Europa League » Oct 1 I can still see decent value in Benfica in Greece for reasons already mentioned. Benfica are on great form and scoring for fun whilst AEK are in dissoray. There odds have dropped a little however and as a result I'm tempted to use them in a 3 fold along with 2 favourites. Treble - Benfica/Hamburg/Galatasaray @ 3.26 I can also see decent value in the Celtic v Rapid Vienna match. Vienna have been very impressive so far this season both domestically and in Europe. Celtic on the other hand have generally struggled in Europe and despite being top of the SPL have put in some average performances whilst playing with an extremely inneffective front line of Killen (an imposter of a footballer) and out of form McDonald. Celtic will look to win the match as they are the home side and even more so having dropped points last time in Israel. On the other hand this will play into a strong counter attacking team like Rapid's hands and I would expect both teams to score. In addition to this with the Old Firm match at Ibrox coming up on Sunday there is a chance that the Celtic players minds will be focused elsewhere. I think the DRAW NO BET on Vienna at 3.05 offers potential value. I never bet against my own team so I will be leaving it alone. Just thought I'd give a wee bit of insight into the game for others :ok

  4. Re: Champions League - 27th November Stuttgart v Rangers /1/ @ 2.3 - Rangers were very lucky to win at Falkirk at the weekend and I can see them slipping up in Germany. Stuttgart ran Lyon close in their last home game and have hit a good run of form domestically. They've won 4 on the bounce scoring 9 and conceding only 2. They hammered Frankfurt 4-1 at the weekend and beat Bayern 3-1 the week before. Here's hoping they win icon_thup.gif

  5. Re: Champions League - 28th November Celtic V Shakhtar /1/ @ 2.02 - I can't understand why the bookies continue to place such high odds on Celtic at home. The record speaks for itself. We had a brilliant 2nd half perfomance on Saturday and the players will be fired up for this one knowing that anything other than a win will leave our chances of the last 16 hanging by a knife edge. Shaktar had an embarrassing 1-1 draw against bottom of the table Naftovik at the weekend and one of their star players Castillo is likely to be dropped after a bust-up with the coach. I can see Shakhtar scoring tbh so I'm tempted to go for correct score 2-1 Celts.

  6. Re: Euro 2008 Qualifiers - Weds 21st Nov

For the record this wasnt me who win as i couldnt afford the bet This was posted on another forum yesterday and it was bang on The 16 teams in euro 2008 will be seeded into 4 pots as usual, with one team from each pot in each group. This year it might become a bit of a joke, as the hosts and holders are all top seeds in pot 1 - Austria, Switzerland and Greece, all teams that are quite weak really. This means that the team with the best qualifying record in recent years gets to be the other top seed and the prize for being the best team - not having the chance to avoid the three weak teams. Being in pot 2 (seed 5-8) is a better position to be in. The current team to make the top pot is Holland, with Germany behind them. UEFA co-efficients that I have found elsewhere on the net suggest that if Holland lose in Belarus, Germany will take top spot by winning at home to Wales. The Holland game kicks of at 5pm, with the German game at 7.30pm. If Holland do lose, Germany will know that they will get the unlucky seeded spot by beating Wales, and avoid it by drawing. Now I am not suggesting that either team will tactically produce unlikely results, but It is worth knowing that the Belarus win is priced at 19-5 and the Germany-Wales draw is priced at 5-1 I punted a bit on betfair £10 on belarus returned £46:clap £10 on german draw returned £64:clap £10 accumulator on the above returned £238:clap and unfortunately my £20 "insurance" bet on Croatia returned £176:clap
Lucky bugger :ok Very good calls them. Shame I didn't know about the Germany/Holland thing until after I'd lumped cash on Germany/Wales +2.5 :\
