  1. Re: The general Election: Winning majority tip A little more info too on a specific area. I have lived in Shipley for a while now, and I have to say Labour IMO have done a good job. An MP called Chris Leslie has been in power for 2 terms, and hasn't had any particular complaints. He is a young man, must have been 23 when aappointed, and when he was appointed he was actually made candidate as Labour thought the seat was lost. From living in the area, I have seen SOOO many Conservative posters it is unbelieve, the same goes for Lib Dems. I mean Shipley is a fairly well off area, and I just get the impression that enough people may have left the party for the conservatives to get back in. On betfair- Marignal seats, NE and its Shipley. 1.6 offered on Conservatives, and I think IMO that this is value, as it appears that Labour are yet to start properly. There was also (NOTE A RUMOR) that Chris Leslie might be moved to a safe seat as the party fear we may lose and think he has a great future for leadership. There you go... Sco

  2. Hi guys. I actually work for the Labour party, and have being doing a lot of work on the election campaign etc. I have asked my manager how he thinks we are going, and he says that he reckons we will win it by 65-75 seats. Now apparently opinion polls say that we might win by more, but we think that is a little optimistic. I had a quick browse on betfair, and it is currently priced at 5.7 so surely worth a small punt from a man at the top. Obviously this is only a managers opinion, but he certainly IMO has the best idea of how its going, as we take the calls, complaints etc etc. Anyone else have any thoughts on this? Sco

  3. Re: Gut feelings.... Bank: -11.4 Juventus to qualify - 1.57 (oral) - 15pts:@ Lyon/PSV over 2.5 goals - 2.00 (bet365)- 5pts:@ M.Zabaleta tb F.Santoro - 1.36 (Bluesq) - 10pts:D M.Ancic tb F.Gonzalez - 2.75 (bet365)- 5pts:@ I have to say I cant believe that Liverpool held on, although by all accounts they deserved it. Lets hope for some better selection tommorrow! Sco

  4. Re: What is a system? Well I will see how it goes. I would definately say that the selections are random, but not to the extent of rolling a dice. I mean they are selection that I feel will win, but on the other hand they follow no strict rules, and it is this aspect that I am hoping will make the profit. The fact that I could bet on any sport, politics etc...it doesn't matter. Anyway I quite enjoyed the discussion and made me have a think. I actually wish I could have carried on with the bets from punterslounge, but I really am too busy. Maybe next year;) Sco

  5. Re: What is a system? Sorry to double post, but

simply pick whatever you think will win
although this would be said of EVERY bet, ie you want it to win, people often stick to the same type of bet. Ie favourites, long odds etc etc. i think the best thing to do is to have a mix. Sco
  6. Re: What is a system? Hmmm. A thread about me, not what i expected! lol. The reason i have posted this in here, as opposed to just keeping an excel spreadsheet (which I am also doing) is to try and prove that perhaps systems shouldn't be so strict? i mean many of the systems people have had, I have always thought that is a stupid bet to make, but because it falls in the rules, they have included it. Dont get me wrong I have seen systems which have worked, but I think the best 'system or strategy' if you want to call it one, is to take into account other peoples views, stats, injuries, H2H's conditions, weather, altitude etc etc and then make your own judgement. If you are certain on something, why not put more money on it? In some fixed plans this cant be done. Anyway, if anyone wants to remove the thread then they can, I merely wanted to see whether the best system/strategy is to not really have one at all. Sco

  7. Re: Gut feelings.... Football Juventus to qualify - 1.57 (oral) - 15pts Lyon/PSV over 2.5 goals - 2.00 (bet365)- 5pts Analysis Juventus showed in the second half at Anfield that they can play, and i expect to see that urgency tonight. Dont think it will be a high scoring game, but i think liverpool will struggle to score unless its from a set piece. Without Gerrard Liverpool never look as good, so relatively high stakes here. Lyon/PSV I can see a lot of goals here, Lyons manager has said that they are going to go for the win, so are going to be attacking. I can also see PSV scoring as they are a very under rated side in this competition, which will cause Lyon to attack. Lyon on there day could score a hat full, and should have done in the first leg.

  8. Re: Gut feelings.... Tennis M.Zabaleta tb F.Santoro - 1.36 (Bluesq) - 10pts M.Ancic tb F.Gonzalez - 2.75 (bet365)- 5pts Analysis Zabaleta is on great form, played really well to beat Tim Henman who would have been looking to get off to a good start on the clay. Zabaleta is a good player on clay, and I dont think Santoro will get close. Ancic (agreeing with edtkh from this forum), that after completely outplaying Kuerten u would expect him to have a good go at beating Gonzalez. Gonzalez is no mug, but at I at least see value on Ancic, who is a player I have always liked. Starting bank: 200pts

  9. I have tried a few different systems now, and all have worked OK, but I have generally found that it is best not to stick to one system. I think that there is a lot to be said about gut feelings and betting on the teams/players who YOU think will win. I was running a thread called 'bets by punterslounge' where I searched the threads and placed the best bets, but I simply dont have time to to that any more. This is as much for me to keep track of bets than anything else. I have made a steady profit this year with the help of this forum, and if I can continue then i will be happy! Rules 1) Bets can be made on any sport or event. 2) Any odds can be taken. 3) Stakes will be between 1 - 50 points. 4) There is not fixed staking plan. 5) Starting bank of 200 points.
