  2. Re: Barry Hills Appreciation Thread!! The son of a stable head lad, Barry Hills’ fascinating story charts how he rose to be one of the leading trainers of all time. He placed a shrewd bet on a horse called Frankincense in the 1968 Lincoln race, the winnings of which were enough to set himself up with his own training yard in Lambourn. In many ways this is a social history of our times; how the son of a stable lad managed to quickly establish his owner-base from amongst the turf establishment and aristocracy which even in the sixties was still riddled in the old class consciousness of pre-war society

  3. Re: Pacific 888 A Por Ella Bounty Lock is ecstatic to announce the new addition to their LockPRO ELITE team. Leo Margets is a perfect fit for Lock. Determined and passionate about the game and last but not least an excellent poker player. Leo Margets started playing poker in 2008 and it would not take long before her young poker career would reach astounding heights. In her first trip to the World Series of Poker, Leo would make an extraordinary run in the $10,000 World Championship No-Limit Hold’em Main Event, where she would eventually finish in 27th place. Along with $352,000 in cash, Margets received the coveted “Last Woman Standing Cup” for being the last female left in the Main Event field; an accomplishment that few women can claim on their poker resume. Leo’s continued success has proven that she is no one-hit-wonder at the poker table. She captured a 3rd place finish in the Aussie Millions No Limit Hold’em Six-Handed event in 2010, adding another $54k to her bankroll, and would finish 2010 with a huge 1st place victory in the Full Tilt Masters Series No Limit Hold’em event, taking home $132K. All totaled, Leo has already amassed over $640,000 in tournament winnings, and has already made her way to 26th on the Women’s all-time money list. Ranking 6th on Spain’s all-time money list for live poker events, Margets influence in the game defies gender classifications however she is regarded as one of the leading ladies in poker certainly in Europe and is respected across the poker globe. “I am incredibly happy and thrilled to join Lock!” says Leo Margets.”I am also super proud to be part of a family with so extraordinary players, this new era that now starts is a huge motivation for me!! I am looking forward representing Lock in all over the world!” “Leo is a dream come true for Lock!,” says Jennifer Larson CEO/Owner of Lock Poker. “She is brilliant, driven, incredibly talented and a represents the brand perfectly. Having Leo join the team is just another step towards truly becoming the best online poker brand in the world.”

  4. Re: howard johnson However, his principal owner Graham Wylie said: "I'm absolutely, totally shocked. Howard has been treated like a criminal and he is not. I think it's a disgusting decision and I'm disappointed for Howard." He went on: "I just feel so sorry for him because that is not Howard and he looks after his horses incredibly well. He would never do anything to harm a horse. I think they (the BHA) have come down too heavy handed for the charges that have been made against him. "It is a very sad day for northern racing as it has lost a very good trainer and they have also lost a very good owner. Most of my horses will go the sales and the rest of those I keep will either go down south to be trained or to Ireland. I shall spend the weekend thinking about it. It's a very sad day." --- Johnson was disqualified for three years over the running of Striking Article after a neurectomy, and one year for breaching rules relating to steroids. Paul Struthers, head of communications for the BHA, said: "The authority is satisfied that the disciplinary panel has imposed a significant and appropriate sanction for what were two different but very serious offences. "A four-year disqualification means that Howard Johnson is unable to work in or have any involvement with racing, including a prohibition on entering licensed premises such as training yards or racecourses, not just in Britain but the rest of the world. "The panel stated in its reasons that Mr Johnson had shown a 'reckless disregard' for the Rules, that his behaviour 'fell seriously short of the standard to be expected of a licensed trainer' and that 'any lesser penalty would undermine the confidence stakeholders in racing are entitled to hold that reckless disregard of equine welfare will not be tolerated.' "This decision, and the action of the authority in investigating this case and bringing charges, demonstrates once more that British racing will take decisive and firm action when confronted with issues relating to welfare or integrity."

  6. Re: Flat Racing 10th of August

Along Came Casey - Gowran 8:10 Looks a winner waiting to happen, was really unlucky at Galway when nearly brought down and would have definately won that race, Smullen on board for Weld again and this looks a golden opportunity to gain compensation. 7 Points win @ 6/4 (Bet365) BOG
    = nice...thx
  7. Re: howard johnson Howard Johnson's main patron Graham Wylie has sent six of his horses to champion trainer Paul Nicholls. Johnson has been fighting to save his training career at a British Horseracing Authority inquiry, after he faced nine charges, the most serious of which was running a horse, Striking Article, that had undergone a palmar neurectomy under his care. ========= looks like howards got a ban

  8. Re: Hall of Fame...Circus,Genting,A.T.R Hall Of Fame This week saw the unprecedented hat trick of wins for AsteroidBets. Not only was it his 3rd Hall Of Fame Tournament win, but he did them BACK TO BACK and included 1 jackpot win in the first for taking down the bounty and winning the tournament. So for his initial $33 entry fee he has gone on to scoop close to $2,000 plus a potential £1,500 Palm Beach Big Game package if he can carry his form to the Hall Of Fame Freeroll. WELL PLAYED ASTEROIDBETS. Take him and Waldorf1 on next Monday at 19:30pm.

  9. Re: PuntersLounge Titan Poker Exclusive Added Value Series - Next Game 26th July

Please dont take this the wrong way - I am all for encouraging new players to the forum and try to be as friendly as possible. What i do draw the line at is the mercenary nature of some of the non-PL registered members that just turn up and donk about and ruin what is an unbelievably good promo. I dont actually mind if they play or not but surely it would be unfair fro them to receive the added value as they are not members. The added value is surely there as reward for being part of the forum as an active member (ie. a few meaningful posts). I fully understand that this type thing is a by-product of trying to attract new members - i just think that we should use it as the hook to get them to play - then we can explain what our forum is all about etc.... and the hopefully they join and qualify for the added value in future tournaments if they choose to particpate again.
================ is not the fact that you are in the position to benefit the most if said players are removed;).srry to disappoint..but it will have been payed out:lol Whats the difference some1 paying the $5.50 and only joining p/l forum, playing and winning, they are more likely to hang around and support, there are a lot on here who criticize who are members of numerous forums[are they true forum supporters????]...or are they searching value tourneys..so whats the difference?? If you were good enough...you'd have won the tourney...you were'nt.. TOUGH..be a gratious loser
  10. Ante-post favourite The Real Article features among a maximum field of 20 runners in the Guinness Galway Hurdle on Thursday. Edward O'Grady's five-time winner was beaten just a short head by Captain Cee Bee under a hands-and-heels ride in the Grimes Hurdle at Tipperary on his latest start. The course stewards decided to take no action over the performance on the night and the Turf Club cancelled a planned inquiry on Monday, so The Real Article will take his chance officially 18lb 'well in' at the weights. ============ cant believe no action was taken over this matter:loon 1 of the most blatent acts of [ "schooling","non trying","guarding 1s handicap","cheating",,,call it what you like],i've seen in 40 odd years gambling. If jockey[same] even attempts to pick up his whip in this race, they want to throw the book at the trainer.
