  1. Re: Poker Mags Thanks for the replies, chaps. GaF, I’m sure I’ve missed something here, but surely you don’t eat ‘bread’ similar to what’s in your avatar? There’s a difference between proper bread and economy crap.

  2. Re: Poker Mags I’ve never read WPT mag before, is it better than pokerplayer? And, if so, in what ways? I’m looking for unbiased answers please.. My pokerplayer subscription is up for renewal, so I'm just deciding whether to re-subscribe or cancel and subscribe to WPT mag instead. I only want to subscribe to one of them because I don’t have the time or desire to read both. PP is £10 for 24 issues and WPT mag is £13 for 12 issues. I like PP so I’ll stick with it unless there is good reason to switch.

  3. Re: My first attempts at a system Agree with Dices about defining value. The odds should determine whether you bet or not, alongside your estimations for average no. of goals and probability of over/under whatever lines are offered. 6% is not very very small for over/under betting. It’s actually pretty good for the kind of odds over/under betting deals with. Especially if the system generates a large number of bets.

  4. Re: Profitable Betting

What made be ask the question was that somebody recently posted a question about paid tipping services and if anyone used them. He was politely told he doesn't need tipping services as all the best tipsters are right here on PL.
That made me chuckle. It would be great if all the 'best tipsters' were on here! It is almost an automatic response from some mods, I don’t know if they are programmed to say this or if they really believe it ;) The truth is that some paid tipping services are good, but most are bad. I think the same is probably true of ‘tipsters’ on PL. This is natural because it is very difficult to make significant profit from betting in the long term.
  5. Re: PokerIdol German Open - 12 WSOP Packages to be won I reg’d for this too. Live support told me it was cancelled because it didn’t reach the minimum number of players. I asked what the minimum was and they said 10. They didn’t have any answer when I mentioned that it didn’t state a minimum and went ahead last time with less than 10.

  6. Re: Few betfair questions 1. Increased choice of where to bet/sometimes they are best market price for what I want to bet on. Option to trade as well as traditional betting (position taking). No restrictions, other than the liquidity available. 2. They are far too dominant in the exchange market enabling them to charge an excessive amount of commission. Insider trading. 3. In theory it would ‘work’, but not sure how successful it would be.

  7. Re: Lunatism’s Statistical Selections (lss) For football, markets are defined more by where the money in Asia is going. I would guess odds compilers have programs which give them their prices. They may then adjust according to subjective factors (injuries, formation, heading ability, whatever), other bookie prices (they don't want to be out of line) and where the money is going in Asia. Bookies basically want a balanced book and the overround does its job.

  8. Re: Lunatism’s Statistical Selections (lss)

Don't see how it can be done. How can anyone write a programme that takes in to account how every player in every team around the world is playing? And how a team will be effected by one player not playing (injured). Sorry but can't be done effectively enough to produce accurate percentages. Ginge
Yes it can. The program doesn't need to account for every possible variable in order to be effective. It only needs to produce probabilities more accurately than the market.
  9. Re: Statistical Football Prediction Model 2008 Hi Rushian Glad to see your system is now showing a decent profit after the recent good run. As you say, remarkable how similar the figures are for live testing and the validation period. Be interesting to see which way it goes now, of course I hope the recent positive trend continues for you. Looks like you might be onto something here, well done :)

  10. Re: Neteller Posts Massive Loss I use both neteller and moneybookers. Like Alun said, neteller are fine. It was inevitable they would be posting big losses. I prefer neteller to mb but there's very little difference. On the subject of neteller fees - if you move enough money about you will become a VIP (think you are given this status when you have built up a certain amount of points but not sure). Once you get VIP status you get 100% rebate on withdrawal fees (so its basically free) and a discount on exchange rate charge (1.75% instead of 2.5%).

  11. Re: Virgin Festival in Newcastle

Forgot to mention the few hours I did spend in the main event I was sat next to Norfolk Enchance' date=' a good man :ok[/quote'] It was good to chat with you, Brian, shame I didn’t have time to hang around for the whole weekend. I bet on sports for a living – mainly football - so its difficult for me to take time off at weekends and I had to shoot off after I was out on sat night. I’ll have more time at the next one though if its in June.
