  1. Re: Win VIP for 2 Coral Eclipse Day at Sandown - Sponsored by Coral! *JayAlexander Wi A Fantastic Day made all the better by some lovely weather and some great company. Day started for me with the motor running outside Ladbrokes as I rushed in to secure some 3s on Al Kazeem in the big race before leaving for Esher. I fancied the 3rd at the price who got absolutely mullered by the winner - not that the Mukadram would have won... Maybe held on for second? Who knows - but regardless, the 3/1 on AK led to an easy trade in the run and my only decent score on the day. Neglected to wear the betfair shirt :p and tried, largely unsuccessfully, to find a shirt and smart trousers that I could comfortably fit into. Think I managed it but Jay would have won the best turned out by a landslide. We were treated very well and once we had negotiated our way into the correct venue, the food and drink just kept coming. Jay stated that he was taking it easy on the alcohol front. Fair play I thought as I was restricted to 2 myself. However, if that was taking it easy then I'd hate to see the man on a mission!! If I drank that I'd be on the floor!! One pint in the sun on meeting Robertob was enough to confirm that I am possibly the biggest lightweight on this or any other forum!!! Pleasure to speak to the guy - when I let him get a word in anyway - as he is truly knowledgable and enjoying a good year. Having spoken to him I would wager this might continue. Enjoyed walking across the course to experience a start close up despite the course employee insisting it was too far to walk. I appreciate that as a nation we are generally fatter and slower than ever, but please do not assume that I am as lazy as most of the oiks you clearly encounter!! I don't think I have anything to add that might add to your wealth.... I might veture this though - It's been around 15 years since I last managed a Betting Shop but there are still the same cliched mug punters with half arsed ideas about the game even with all the information available to us. Endured some of their half baked, illogical theories with a smile on my face and I will catergorically state that if you do want to become profitable or more profitable, the knowledge of the average poster on PL is head and shoulders above that of the man in the street/betting shop!! Probably knew that already but what an eye opener. NO disrespect to any punter or their opinion but you have to be greatful for them because it's their money you're hoping to win! Thank you to Paul, Coral and especially Jay for the kind gesture of offering the ticket up to a fellow PLer :D - A True Gent. Tryign to resize pics!? How small do they have to be??!

  2. As for the final' date=' did anyone else think it was quite a low-quality match from both? Djokovic was quite bad, and even Murray wasnt great imo. Not as good as his US Open, Olympics matches. But novak couldnt serve to save his life today, made tons of errors too. Really disappointing match in my view. Federer must be thinking he has another good year in him as the quality today and in the AO final was not beyond him.[/quote'] Spot on - unlike your 'Southampton are obviously going to be relegated' vom!! Ha ha ;) Incredibly pleased for AM but that was never the 'match of his life' as Sue Barker immediately described it and it was possibly on of NDs worst of recent times. AM too far behind the baseline too often and both made countless unforced errors compared to their usual high standard. Result all that matters but no point in not seeing what actually happened. Well done to all the winners.
  3. Re: BBOTD - Saturday 6th July 350 Sandown - Mukhadram - 8/1 - Fred, SJ There's little doubt that Al Kazeem is, on form, the most likely winner of this race. Beat the selection fair and square lto at Royal Ascot and there is no reason the form should be reversed. There not machines though so at 8/1 to make up the neck margin he was beaten by, I'll chance my arm. AK may not give his running and that would make 8s look very big. Was backed off the boards on successful seasonal debut over CD and that despite being reported to have met with a setback in training. Beat Miblish 2 3/4 lengths that day and then put 5 between them at Ascot so is quite possiby improving fast.

  4. Re: BBOTD Friday 5th June BBOTD has just been and gone but the last minute drift on Ambiance out to a Betfair SP of 5.15 was unexpected to say the least!!! Swings and roundabouts maybe as last night I was having a fairly large fit as both £3.65 and VC offered up Mandour at 4/1 & 3/1. Watched these prices get swallowed up within minutes as they took 5, 50p bets from sharks with accounts left - helpless to get a bean on before the 'at any price crowd' pushed the price under 2/1!!! Some sanity has been restored and 9/4 with Fred will have to do. If every horse in the race runs to there best form then Mandour is no 9/4 shot - but for me, alot of the main protagonists have question marks to answer and something to prove. Age old cliche would be, 'surely they wouldn't have travelled all this way if they weren't trying?'. Who knows?! VDV the danger for me and while I also think Mirsaale is overpriced at 20/1+ although I'm not sure he is close enough on form to beat the likley fav. 400 Sandown - Mandour - 9/4 - Bet Fred

  5. Re: Win VIP for 2 Coral Eclipse Day at Sandown - Sponsored by Coral! *JayAlexander Wi

Congratulations' date=' The Saint, the ticket's yours :clap[/quote'] Top, top man! Thanks again Jay and thanks for all the kind wishes! Looks a great card too - best I'll have seen in the flesh for a long time :ok Obvious thanks to Paul and Coral too - will try to make sure Jay leaves a beer for someone else!! :eek
  6. ladbrokes are the scum of the earth' date='obviously a little biased as had my account restricted then closed, and not for a life changing amount either, high st waste of time no bog and 2 points lower than most bookies on horses that have a chance(obvs traders doing their job)but it does stop me betting in there shops.[/quote'] To be fair, it's not as if it's just Ladbrokes that close accounts! At least they have shops - unlike the vermin at £3.65!!!
  7. Re: BBOTD > Wednesday 3rd July 700 Fairyhouse - Lillys Angel - 6/1, Fred, PP, SJ, WH, Coral Liked the fav at the overnight prices around 11/4 but that's long gone now. LA having a good season and has shown herself to be a hardened battler with a level of consistnecy too. Should be suited by G&D. Fiesolana getting towards a backable price on the exchanges but there's a 10 minute deadline to be met!

  8. Re: ladbrokes not paying out, please help!

Joe ...the RP receive hundreds of thousands in advertising off Ladbrokes and Victor...There not going to dump on their own doorstep...and ATR get millions of revenue off Ladbrokes...Don't hold your breath....
Never a truer word spoken. They have to settle on the day's result - if they didn't then mathematically they'd be losing out on the race. Heaven forbid. Blame the judge who got the result wrong and if it helps take some solice the the fact he has been sacked - unlike Jockey's who just get a suspension when they make a mistake or bookmakers who get away with whatever they want all of the time. Morally, they should pay you but I suppose their view is that they can't recover the money they've already paid out on the 2nd(!). Good Luck if you do chase it.
  9. Don't want to sound like a 'after event' punter here but I took Lisicki at 66/1 earlier in the Tournament' date=' she now appears to be favourite to win it so naturally i'm quite excited :p[/quote'] Well that is exactly how u do sound!! Lol - well done on the bet. Lay it off at 3s? I certainly would :)
  10. Re: Losing runs - a note for those suffering

Readers of my last thread will know that I've been on quite a losing run and hadn't struck a winner in June until the 23rd day of the month. I'm pleased to report that, against all odds, the month of June will be a profitable one now thanks to Breakheart's 8-1 win at Salisbury earlier today. If Intermath wins in 5 minutes time it'll even have been a reasonably good month overall. So if you're going through a bad spell, do what I did. Have a moan, take stock, review your results, question your approach, ask for help from the great guys on here and most of all, keep on at it because it does all come good eventually if your reasoning is sound. Thanks to all those who gave me much needed support during the month. You know who you are :clap K
Well done Kithanga - good to read. Losing runs are by far the biggest barrier to success in the long term. You've helped out countless others on here (myself included) over the last couple of years so glad you got something back :) - keep up the good work.
  11. Re: Finding Value In Handicaps Very best of luck - I am no longer convinced it's possible to make a long term profit betting into hcaps so pleased you are taking it easy with them. I make tissues for all the races I consider a bet in. Personally, I feel it should give you a massive advantage in terms of discipline and only betting when you consider the price to be right. Being utterly clueless on Jumps Racing I can't offer you any opinion on the above race but I do note that your book comes to around 125%. Granted, if you were an on course bookie, this would be very generous but unless you make them come to 100%, you might find that you find too many horses that are 'value' against your book(currently 5 above your tissue price). Also, the selection of Manger Hanagement is 8 points above your tissue price of 12/1. This represents a 2.93% shift in price(100/21)-(100/13). Loch Derg Way is available at 7/2 which represents a bigger discerpency in price - 8.54%, so I would say that on this occassion, that one represents the greater value(100/4.5)-(100/3.25). It might be that the 7/2 wasn't available when you considered your bet but this is another problem that the 'value' punter might encounter - different horses may become percieved 'value' at different times of the day. Absolutely nothing wrong with backing mre than 1 in a race - I am tending to use the last 15 minutes of betting as it cuts out the problem of getting on and saves me having to watch the market all day. Liquidity on the exchanges only tends to be higher at this point too. Sure, I will miss out on plenty of prices but that's how it's gonna have to be. Me bitching and squeling about Bookmakers closing accounts is not making any difference to them doing it!!! Best of Luck - definatly the right way forward imho. You're publically a much better tipster than I but hope some of the above is helpful or at least understandable!!!

  12. 335 - Cur - La Collina - 14/1 - VC, 365, PP etc. Likely to give running and is constantly underrated by the bookie chaps IMHO. Fav obviously could win but form is not proven as GP 1 standard just yet. S Star never wins, was below form lto and poss needs further. Was not at best lto and needs further. Princess Highway bolted up 4(?) runs ago but not repeated that ones listed class, another needs to prove she's trained on and R Nest has to come back from a poor RA run.

  13. Re: BBOTD - Saturday 29th June 1830 Curr - Galileo Rock - 10/1 - Paddy Power Is probably a fair EW bet given the shape and size of the market. 3rd in the Derby and could go better on faster ground and a gallopping track. Not fair behind ROTW who got first run and is a tenth of the prize and upsides Libertarian who is half the price. Doesn't make sense to me. Had every chance until I put it up on BBOTD.
