  1. Ludogorets Razgrad have appointed a caretaker manager after parting ways with coach Pavel Vrba. They failed to qualify for the group stage of the Champions League and lost their Europa League match against Antwerp last week.

They also lost a key player - Higinio got injured over the weekend and will be out for a few months. He had scored in each of the last 4 games he played for Ludogorets. And he has a great record for them in European tournaments, having scored against Antwerp, Dynamo Brest and Buducnost.

  2. I did not have a bet (I was busy with other stuff yesterday) and I only watched the start and the end of the match (while doing other things), so I do not really feel cheated on. It looked like the "doping medicine" finally kicked in for Nole halfway through the 3rd set.

I hope ATP is happy with TV ratings and overall revenue. Rafa is certainly happy with yet another title and and catching up with Federer.

  3.  I'd still blame COVID: out of the top 11-ranked WTA players, 5 have missed the tournament (Barty, Osaka, Andreescu, Bencic and Serina, who quit after round 1). Including 2 of the top 3. That would be a problem in any sport.

2 of the remaining 6 players are still in the tournament.

    The rest:

Halep - lost to Swiatek, not too many people disappointed with that, a new star joins the hierarchy

Pliskova - lost to a former Roland Garros champion

Svitolina - lost in the quarter-finals

Bertens - used a wheelchair in round 2 but got to round 4 ?

And as AgaRadwanska said, the weather further complicates things.

I can’t believe what state the WTA is in. I thought they had done really well the last couple of years to improve the randomness problem, and improve the standard and consistency at the top of the game. Fair enough, there are several top 10 players absent, but even still, if you have one of your major tournaments, and the three remaining players in one half of the draw are ranked 54, 131 and 159 in the world, then YOU DON’T HAVE A SPORT. That’s a lottery, not a sport. Fair enough a few upsets, or one unknown player going on a great run, but there’s no way in any sport that those sort of rankings should be competing for a place in the final of a major tournament. You have to have continuity. You have to have a hierarchy. You can’t just have randomness. I’m really upset and disappointed, because I love tennis - probably the WTA more than the ATP - and I despair for the state that it appears to be in.

I don't really care about hierarchy. As long as the quality of tennis is great, I don't care for sport stars and icons.

As lelit already mentioned, COVID-19 wrecked the whole tennis calendar this year - and a few other things as well.

But would you be ok with the current tournament IF Osaka and Andreescu were healthy and they were still in play at this stage, together with Kvitova, Kenin and Swiatek (the new star who stopped Halep - the tournament favourite)? That does not look bad at all to me.

  5. I've placed a small bet on M'gladbach to win at Werder. The hosts have not looked particularly impressive since the restart and they were lucky to win at Freiburg. The visitors are in much better shape, even though they lost against a red-hot Bayer Leverkusen. I don't rate Werder's defence too highly - they had problems at Freiburg (who always find it hard to score - just 35 goals this season) and they will be in real trouble against M'gladbach (53 goals). Both sides should be motivated - Werder fighting against relegation and the visitors still have a decent chance of getting a CL spot.

Odds 1.8 with Pinnacle are good enough for a small bet.

I think today big value is WHU.Why? ....They have good quality in every position especially at attack....

The Hammers are missing their best player - Fabianski. Antonio is out too, he's a hard-working player and they need him badly against teams like Burnley. They have been struggling to find a reliable player at left back. So, today they have some challenges in these positions.

I believe this match go can either way, Burnley should be favourites and odds are probably just about right. I'd recommend to watch the first 15 minutes of the game and then place a bet, depending on how motivated the teams are.

  7. I'm afraid that Southampton and Leicester will somehow produce an entertaining 0:0 draw. That's because I put a bet on Both teams to score - odds 1.75 with Bet365. Just look at the stats in StevieDay's post - Southampton leaking goals at home but also scoring at home; Leicester failing to keep clean sheets away but otherwise in a good form. I was expecting lower odds - not more than 1.65.

  8. North Macedonia - Turkey

I'm placing a bet on North Macedonia +2.5 sets at 1.787 with Pinnacle. They played well yesterday and won a set against Finland, a site that's not weaker than Turkey. And they were consistent - fought in each set, got 23, 22 and 21 points in the sets they lost.

Turkey had a tough match yesterday but managed to win a set against Russia (lost the other sets to 13, 17 and 15 points though).

From the way how I saw so far West Ham and how they play overall and defend , and from the way how Watford looked last game .....I think Watford more chances to win this game

This  West Ham defense Just Remind of UAE and Qatar leagues ??

What makes it even worse is that West Ham failed to bring in any new defenders for the new season. While they constantly suffer from issues with the left fullback position. And Zabaleta is not getting younger, so can't help that much on the right side.

That being said, it's the same defence that got a clean sheet at Tottenham, got a 1:1 at home against Liverpool, lost only 0:1 visiting Man City, beat Arsenal 1:0 at home and got a 0:0 draw against Chelsea at home. And the same defence allowed Huddersfield to score 3 goals at the London stadium.

For the record, Watford beat the Hammers away 2:0 last December and then lost 1:4 to them at home in May (Watford were poor in May). The more motivated team will win today, just not sure which team that is.

  10. I'm taking 2.58 for Andreescu to win with Pinnacle. I feel odds are just about right, no big value. But there just too many things I can't overlook - Andreescu has a great record against top players, she's playing at home, she's feeling well (said shoulder does not trouble her; her coach said her thigh is just tight, no injury), she was rusty during the first two matches but she got much better in the next matches, she is very tough mentally and enjoys challenges and her dreams are coming true this year. And the pressure must be on Serena. Not an easy match for Williams.

  11. A few people mentioned Gojowczyk yesterday. I believe he offers good value today as well. I took him to win a set at 1.9 with Bet365 earlier, now it's up to 2.00. H2H shows that he managed to win a set in each of the previous two matches played (both of hem on hard court too). A word of caution: in both matches he won the first set and then Edmund easily won the next two sets. So there might have been an element of surprise... and now Edmund might be better prepared. But Gojowczyk seems to be on a roll so odds look good to me.

@cluelessG I posted about Dimitrov last week, saying how awful he was when he played. I'm surprised after playing so badly that he's favourite against Johnson so it's almost a must bet I'd say.

@Torque I read your post last week - now that Dimitrov has started a proper "winning streak" (needed 2 tie-breaks to eliminate Steve Johnson), he's of course an even stronger favourite against Guido Pella. I got 2.36 for Pella to win with Pinnacle.

  13. I am considering betting on Steve Johnson to win against Grigor Dimitrov (odds 2.23 at Pinnacle). I have not seen Johnson play in a while and I have no idea what sort of form he's in... but Dimitrov is struggling big time. Johnson won a couple of matches at Wimbledon and then lost narrowly to Eubanks at Newport (grass) two weeks ago. He should be well rested. H2H - Dimitrov has won 4 matches (3 on hard court), Johnson has 2 wins (1 on hard court). Dimitrov will start winning again at some point, just not sure he should be priced as a favorite today.

    Chelsea v Westham

    lay chelsea 1.29 betfair

Chelsea at those odds are not really backable. West ham have a full team out today and could easily cause an upset against a Chelsea side that is inconsistant.

Arnie, hernandez, lanzini, anderson for ming a formiddle attack with Rice noble in holding positions. I can see West ham possibly getting something out of this match Good luck.

It's a very tricky match. As you said - Lanzini, Anderson, Hernandez and Arnie could easily cause plenty of headaches for Chelsea. That's if Arnie can be bothered to play. Perhaps playing against Chelsea on a Monday night with a huge potential TV audience can give him some motivation.

On the other hand, I can't see the Hammers parking the bus today - none of the 4 players above can be relied upon for defensive duties. So West Ham may turn up with 4 players in attack and 7 players in defense and hardly anyone in midfield. And Chelsea can boss the midfield against most Premier League teams anyway. So West Ham somehow managed to get a scoreless draw against Chelsea at home but I don't see that repeating again today.

I will place a small bet on Both Teams Top Score (odds around evens) even though Chelsea are good at keeping clean sheets at home and West Ham are not prolific away at top teams (scored against early-season Arsenal but failed to do so at Liverpool and Man City).

There's definitely no value in the odds for home win though. I do think Chelsea will win but I'd rather take the "home win and BTTS" at odds around 3 with pinnacle.
