  1. Re: Scottish Cup > 4-5 Feb I fancy two bets in the cup this weekend. Aberdeen are a class above QOS and should comfortably beat them at home. Yes people will point to the East Fife defeat in the league cup but Aberdeen were very at that stage of the season and have improved significantly since then and will do the business on Sat. Motherwell are my second bet, they have had a good season and while their form has dipped recently they should have more than enough to beat a poor Morton side, particularly at home. 10/11 the double at Corals looks a great bet

  2. Re: England > Weekend > Npower Football League Two >10th December I notice the above fixtures are league 1 and not 2 but anyway, I fancy Crewe to beat Northampton. This pick is purley on form as Northampton have lost 3 out of their last 4 at home while Crewe have won 3 out of their last 4. I know Northampton have a new manager but I think it will take him time to have an effect although he could have the "new manager syndrome"! I still think 13/8 is a shade generous on current form

  3. Re: Scotland > Weekend > Divs 1-3 > 20 Aug Early one for me and some may think its a strange selection given they have lost their first 2 games but I fancy Peterhead at EVS with betfred to beat East Stirling. Peterhead have not gelled yet but they have to come good sooner rather than later and this is a game they MUST win if they are going to do anything in this league. They certainly have a better first team and squad on paper that East Stirling. I don't know team news yet but you would have not got this price at the start of the season and there has only been two games played so I am willing to give Peterhead one last chance

  4. Re: Scottish Irn-Bru Divisions 1, 2 & 3 > Ante-Post 2011-12 Season I think Peterhead are a stand out bet for Division 3. Some may think I am over reacting to the signing of McAlister from Brechin but with the list of players below they have a first eleven and squad that I feel are above this level. Peterhead have signed a lot of new players and I it depends on whether they gel but there are a lot of players in the squad that have been there and done it in this division or higher. There are no other team in this division with the calibre of player that Peterhead have at their disposal. Alloa may mount a challenge as Hartley is trying to bring in some experienced quality players like Bobby Petta but I don't think they will be able to last the season as they won't have the same strength in depth as Peterhead do. 5/2 is skinny but I rate Peterhead's superiority over the rest of this division as much as Livi dominated the second division last season so I think the price is fair and will look good come towards mid season. Staying from last year JARVIE DONALD MCDONALD SHARP BAVIDGE WYNESS ROSS NEW SIGNINGS DUFFY, ST JOHNSTONE JELLEMA, FREE AGENT REDMAN, BRECHIN CONWAY, LIVINGSTON WATSON, FORFAR McBAIN, ICT/BRECHIN SELLARS, FORFAR DEASLEY, FORFAR RATTERY, ARBROATH McALLISTAR, BRECHIN

  5. Re: UEFA Europa League > Thursday 19th August I need to do a bit of research but on the face of it AEK Athens look a great price at 5/4 to beat Dundee Utd. AEK have got some very good results in Europe in the last few years and for me should be far to strong for Dundee Utd. Even their manager Peter Houston said "thank god the first leg is at home or the tie would most probably be well and truly over" not exactly confidence boosting. I think AEK will hope to get at least 1 maybe 2 and the tie will be over as Athens is a very hard place to go and get a result especially for a average team like Utd.

  6. Re: World Cup Qualifiers - October 14/15 I agree re England on te handicap, hopefully -2, Capello will have them fired up and it doesn't matter who plays for England s they are all playing for a place at the WC. Belarus are improving but not enough to bother England. One that catches the eye is Lichenstein to beat Wales at a massive 6/1, the welsh injury problems are well documented and while Lichenstein are no world beaters they have had some decent results at home. I think +1 is the safer bet if we can get it as it could be a draw, but I would not go near wales at 4/11

  7. Scotland V Netherlands Feel I need to post this early as I expect the price to go. I can not get over the 6/5 on offer for Holand to beat Scotland, anyone who watched yesterday's game could see that Scotland were playing with fear of making mistakes before they scored and I expect it to be no different on Wednesday. McFadden was our best player for me and he will be missed on Wed as he is probably one of a few players if not the only one that can produce a bit of magic to change a game. Our defence looked ropey and in all honesty Macedonia were the better team for the first 50/60 mins and could have been at least 2-0 up before we scored. If it had been Holand that we had being playing it would have been game over. The Dutch are on fire and even if they play a second team they should still beat Scotand as they are far beter than us and the players will want to impress to get a place in the squad for the world cup. If they play a full team they shoud have more than enough class to beat the scots. Scotland will be pumped up but I don't hink that Burley knows what he's doing or is able to get across what he wants the team to do to the players, certainly not to the same extent as Smith and McLeish did. I can't see us not conceeding and we don't score many, especially against top teams like holland. Hope they prove me wrong but I can't see anything other than a defeat on Wed and 6/5 is a great bet

  8. Re: International Friendlies & Qualifiers 12th August 2009 France quite simply have to beat the faroes and beat them well. They are 8 points behind the group leaders and have an inferior goal difference of 8 so need goals. They do have two games in hand over the leaders and will be looking to sort their goal difference out against the weakest opponents in the group. The french have selcted a strong attacking squad with the likes of Henry, Anelka, Ribbery and Benzema. They should have far to much for the Faroes and as said above will be looking for a few goals. Paddy power offer France -3 goals @ 6/4 and I can see the French covering this and it's hard to see the faroes scoring, so I'll go for 4-0 France and take the 6/4.

  9. Re: UEFA Europa League » 2009-2010 ( 28-30 July ) I have had a good look through the fixtures this morning and two stick out for me at decent prices. The first is CSKA Sofia, russian football is a far higher standard than the Irish league, Sofia have done reasonably well in recent European competition and while Derry have had a few jonts into the early rounds of European competition in recent years it has ended there as they are simply not good enough. I'm very suprised at the 2/5 (not had a good look for a beter price) for the home win and unless team news is very bad I will be all over this like a rash. The second team that sticks out is Hamburg, again German football is far stronger than that of Northen Irish football. Hamburg showed last season that they are a more than decent team when getting to the Semi Finals of the Ueffa cup. They should win this comprehensively and again 2/5 for me is a more than decent price. Will wait for team news again but if it is decent I will be all over this. Looks a very good double.

  10. Re: World Cup Qualifiers - Sep 10/11 What's people's thoughts on Latvia v Greece? Latvia are no mugs and started well with a win in Moldova. 16/5 for a Latvia win seems big to me. Are Greece that good, especially away from home? 4/5 +1 Latvia is appealing to me as I think they could easily get a draw out of this one. Azerbaijan V Liechtenstein, It is well known than Liechtenstein are woeful. Azerbaijan is a tough place to go for most teams and I like Evs for Azerbaijan -1

  11. Re: International Friendlies - 19-20 August Wouldn't touch this game spooner. Both teams are good and A draw is by no means out of the equation since it is a friendly. The team that is interesting me is Argentina @8/13. Anyone know the team news? I think Argentina have a team at the Olympics? But surely they should be good enough to9 beat Belarus even with a severely weakened side? The other team is Georgia against Wales. They are 11/10 +1. There is not a lot between the teams. I expect the welsh to put out a young side, and I also think the Georgin's will have a youngish side out, and think this could easily be a draw at least for them. Thoughts?
