Re: AFL Round 12 (Week 2 - Fri June 20 - Sun June 22) I thought Carlton's status was sort of sorted but it seems Wooden Spoon seems to be an attractive proposition to Blues' supporters. Btw, do they actually give a wooden spoon or something similar? ads25 - is there a star in the making or a case of sun herald making a star outta the kid ? 118 pages - how do they fill so many pages? How does herald sun compare with SMH or Age ? Why do I smell a trashy tabloid - hope I am wrong. Losing to get no 1 draft pick - that's such a sorry way. They should introduce draft lottery as in NBA to discourage tanking games.

Re: AFL Football Round 11 (Friday June 8 - Monday June 11) Hey guys I finally got a chance to watch footy. Caught highlights of last week's action and wow anything goes - punching, kicking each other right under ref's nose and behind his back. And is it the only game in the world which doesn't have any rules for ejection from a game no matter what? And yeah Carlton seemed good!!

Re: Golf- US Open I have been following golf tips' threads for a few weeks now. Can you guys attempt a stab at tournament matchup bets ?

Re: AFL Football Round 11 (Friday June 8 - Monday June 11)
Ads25 Seems beejayville has gotta crush on Carlton. Looks like a new Carlton permanent member. What about when i was standing next to Jeffers after the win at the MCG last week and you were an hour up the road on the phone to him saying (and i quote) "I really like Carltons style of game". I reckon behind this Anti-Carlton masquerade you've got going, you have a soft spot deep down for the Old Dark Navy Blues :dude :dude -
Re: AFL Football - Round 10 (June 1st - 3rd)
:cheers Jeffers - the win couldn't have come at a better time. I raised the Carlton issue at the right time!!We are the Navy Blues' date= We are the old dark Navy Blues, We’re the team that never lets you down, We’re the only team old Carlton knows, With all the champions they like to send us, We’ll keep our end up. And they will know that they’ve been playing Against the famous old dark Blues. The blues are back in town, what a performance that was. Third quarter was nothing short of sensational :nana -
Re: AFL Football - Round 10 (June 1st - 3rd)
Ash - Thanks for the explanation.Kangaroos are a bet IMO, vagabund. I'm on at 4.14, but would certainly take the current 3.93 Pinnacle. Noticed they were OTB at Pinnacle and not sure why - could simply be due to strong backing for a longshot. The leagues best player successfully appealed a suspension during week but that was settled Tuesday. I've heard whisper that WCE are in a little more injury trouble than it may seem - whether that means there will be changes I'm not sure but at this point in time the roo's are overs IMO. Kangaroos game style will trouble anyone. A 3.00 chance IMO. 10 x 7; seven days rest and ten days rest prior to that. Ash. -
Re: AFL Football - Round 10 (June 1st - 3rd)
:rollin So that Carlton bloke must have turned from Blue to Red :rollin. Sorry Jeffers - I just hope Beejayville's story is wrong (at least a bit) and you have fun supporting Carlton. Beejayville, Is Carlton sponsored by Carlton & United breweries? Free / cheap beer for members to forget about Carlton losing. Or something like all-you-can-eat seats in LA Dodgers park for $30 or so.I blame Ads Vagabund...A good bloke in Jeffers lobs in Oz and listens to Ads crap about how good Carlton are...Next minute Jeffers has a Membership for the Blues and goes to every game now and expects to win...He has since learnt that Carlton rarely win and he has wasted his Membership. I actually asked a Carlton supporter yesterday for a blueprint of his brain, cos I wanted to build a fcukwit :rollin -
Re: NRL Rugby - Round 12 (June 1st - 4th) What's the problem with Roosters- Newcastle game ? Pinnacle is offline.
-
Re: AFL Football - Round 10 (June 1st - 3rd) Jeffers More important question is Eagles - kangaroos...there's something dodgy about it. Last week Pinnacle had lines for Brisbane Broncos NRL game off and we all know what they did to the team whose name escapes me now.
-
Re: AFL Football - Round 10 (June 1st - 3rd) Is the situation so one sided in Eagles - Kangaroos game that Pinnacle doesn't have its lines up? Or there's something else? What do 6x6 and 10 x 7 mean? Only Six days' rest ? One more question - Why's everyone after Carlton? At least they have 8 points unlike the other two who haven't opened their account.

Re: Golf - Memorial Tournament I bet on zach as well (though at the moment I can't remember the sportsbook where I placed the bet!!). If somebody withdraws before the tournament, at least your $ is returned. Oh well..it's O'Hair with a bunch of them lurking. Memorial seems like an Aussie favorite.

Re: AFL Football - Round 10 (June 1st - 3rd) (not relevant to AFL)

Re: Golf - Zach Johnson - the next 3 majors.. Nastro You gotta bet before you offer a tip. I got 50-1 for ZJ winning the US Open at Sporting odds. And skybet is 50-1 for British Open!! Go Zach Go!!
-
Re: NRL Rugby - Round 11 (May 25th - 28th) Cool crouchie... The fact that Pinnacle's lines are off raised an alarm for me. Offline = Dodgy opportunity at someplace else. UK books have moved as well...bestbetting is showing old odds for some books. But, I got onto Broncos -8 (1.91) at some lame book 20 mins back. Go Broncos!!
-
Re: NRL Rugby - Round 11 (May 25th - 28th) Has something happened in Brisbane - Newcastle game? Odds are way apart for diff bookmakers and Pinnacle has taken lines off...any hints ?quick!!

Re: F1 Monaco 26/5 & 27/5 If one were to go by teams' performances in Monaco over last 5-6 years, McLaren has been the most consistent one and Alonso should be favored. As a side note is there any chance of Renault posing a strong challenge in next few races?

Re: Golf - Zach Johnson - the next 3 majors.. Nastro, Hope your tip pays off. I have no clue about golf but I am on Zach for the Open. Still got to bet for US open (why are some sportsbooks such a pain when you open a new account? arggggh) Do you regularly tip about golf ? How do I find a local bookie in my area who offers better terms ? Cheers!!

Re: Golf - Zach Johnson - the next 3 majors.. Skybet has Zach Johnson @ 100 for the British Open. Make sure your bookie know this. I couldn't find odds for PGA championship. Any suggestions?

Re: AFL Football - Round 9 (May 25th - 27th) Thanks for the websites Beejayville

Re: AFL Football - Round 9 (May 25th - 27th) A survey in Australia conducted some six months back (or maybe a year) concluded that swimming is the most popular sport in terms of participation. Now, some of you might say it's part of life as drinking VB. I spent some time on AFL's website and wiki about 18 months back and then didn't keep pace with it. I was particularly impressed with AFL's playoff system with second chance for top teams - that came out of suggestions from public!! Now for this week's footy: bet365 has Hawthorn + 8.5 (1.90) - can extra two points make a difference this time too ?(A couple of weeks back they had hawthorn +16.5 against Freo) ads25, I had a look at your link and NBL thread. Very impressive - to say the least. Can I send you an email about the same?

Re: AFL Football - Round 9 (May 25th - 27th) You guys are making me interested in your national sport (I assume) more and more. It sounds a lot of fun and it seems more if it involves potential to make $$. How do I learn about the sport better? Any suggestions for books/websites? I am particularly interested in pursuing it from stats' point of view. Ads25, When will your computer generated predictions for this week come out? Can you share your method as Burntua Crisp or is it a secret recipe?

Re: AFL Football - Round 8 (Friday May 18 - Sunday May 20)
Beejayville, I am not sure any sports organisation or team in the world owe anything to punters. It's not akin to stock-exchange listed company owing information to investors. Had your argument been for the FANS who pay to watch these overpaid, overhyped, overrated stars (not referring to AFL in particular) then I would have been with you. Having said that, US teams relase injury news as early as possible. But, it's not because they are worried about punters. This weekend European soccer games have got big guns have such high odds. They are expected to play second string teams but nothing is confirmed. The key is to exploit the information. - The question is how much does absence of two starters affect the fortunes of a footy team? - The more important question is how much did the odds change when the news came out. Or nothing changed? Maybe some books reacted while others didn't. I would be interested in knowing what others think about this issue. But, such a thing can be turned in your favor if one reacts at the right time.Great work as always Crisp and your input in here is first rate :ok Touching on the 2 late withdrawals for the Saints in Gram and Clarke. The club knew they would not be playing yet left punters in the dark. I picked the Saints based on previous meetings between the two teams, if I had know those two may have been out then I may have tipped the Hawks. Now that is only tipping...What about the punters having big dollars on the Saints to win and finding out before the game that 2 players are going to be out. Something needs to be done to prevent this from happening...The AFL has a duty of card to punters to provide the relevant details when bets are made. Teams should be announced the morning of a game and a $100,000 fine opposed to any team that makes a late change without reasonable cause. The teams know who is going to play, so name that team and make it fair for punters. The AFL and Bookies, someone is going to be sued soon because of this, and rightfully so. -
Re: NRL Rugby - Round 10 (May 18th - 21st) Jumbo You must have known the reason for high odds for marquee soccer teams by now. I got on a few lame sportsbooks betting on end-of-season NBA games. That was fun. Folks A couple of questions about rugby / NRL: - In your experience, do you think certain sportsbooks' odds are better reflection of probabilities than others in rugby (league or union) that can provide hint to punters ? - How much does rain affect points total? Do you see totals moving on report of expected rain or the sportsbooks just don't bother ? In NFL (American football) reports of snow can affect totals. Cheers

Re: NRL Rugby - Round 10 (May 18th - 21st) Oh jeez it's 26 hours to the game not 2. I should at least get the times right.

Re: AFL Football - Round 13 (June 29th - July 1st) You guys crack me up. I may not know what the heck is going on in AFL but your banter and confession (I can't think of any other word Beejayville) ....:rollin . So, AFL players will give NFL guys a run for money for their off-the-field activities. They get arrested all the time. Too much testosterone I guess.
Ashtee - Are you serious ? If they start being selective in NFL, it will close down. P.S. IMHO, lap dance is such a waste of money.
