Option 3 - People would be free to take early prices including the night before when they might not last long but would have to "live or die" based on the decision rather than having the added safety net of BOG. 
Given all the considerations around who still offers BOG, from when and how many of us may or may not be eligible for it in reality it feels like the most realistic playing field without turning it into a full time job for @MCLARKE

I am happy enough leaving it as it is. If there is a feeling to change it, then option 3 is the best one. 
So taking the splinters out I will opt for option 3 a short head in front of option 1

Some people are getting mixed up with  B.O.G and SP. I am in favour of abolishing the B.O.G, but think we should be allowed to take an early price. I do not agree with SP only,  as part of the skillset of a tipster is to try and get value from the selection. But I agree that once you take the price, then SP is eliminated
I agree with the majority of what Justanotherpunter stated except, you do NOT need a 10 minute window for the oddschecker price. I use that App every day. Make my pick, check on Oddschecker and enter it onto the website. It doesnt take me 10 minutes!!. That 10 minutes will allow people to manipulate the system and wait for a horse to be backed before entering it on here at its original price. Whatever McClarke does now is working, as I do not see anybody blatantly cheating on the prices.

But, to be fair, no less naive than we would be in believing that the month end long shots are necessarily anyone’s best bet of the day rather than a legitimate attempt to win a prize. Bottom line is you can tweak the rules as much as you like and people will adapt their strategy to play to the limit of the rules and others will again feel it’s contrary to the spirit of the competition. I think people have lost sight of the “fun competition” angle as flagged by @Zilzalianalong with keep it simple and if it ain’t broke don’t fix it.
I’d say the odds on shot furore is a massive red herring, no one would be thumping that particular tub if it was about winning the naps comp, the issue is with the prize for most winners. Some people like it some don’t. It would make more sense to call for the prize to be scrapped than odds on shots banned if that’s how you feel. Or you’ll just end up complaining about people picking close to evens shots in a blatant attempt to win the prize.
With regards to minimum winners I’d leave well alone. As @MCLARKEsays, if someone hits a big winner early they could just play at minimum odds (whatever they end up being) in an attempt to secure the win. Better to leave it as it is so that they’re more likely to carry on posting their actual nap for the rest of the month. You could also end up with the comp being done and dusted before month end if the chasing back can no longer hit the minimum number of winners.
Dare I say the competition is fine as it is, resolve the bog issue, stop tinkering and move on. You’ll never please everyone, in life generally and probably more so on here.

Ermmm was it only you that took my BAN ALL ODDS ON SHOTS followed by Yayyyyyy and a load of laughing emojis seriously? I think most who read that saw/realised that i was sarcastically having a laugh, well i hope they did.

And then arguing the toss that an odds on Fav backed each way and coming 2nd, should be considered a winner!!!!

I do not believe you followed the "spirit of the competition" about a year ago when we were head to head . You know what you did that day, no need for me to repeat it. I still won anyway. But get off the moral high ground. Its a free comp that brings happiness to most people who enter.

Fair enough but I suspect it’s inevitable given how vocal you choose to be on so many issues. Essentially people are expressing the view that, at times, you contradict yourself in a way that could be considered slightly hypocritical.
I don’t feel that my referencing something that you said in the context of this ongoing discussion constitutes “regurgitating everything I have ever said or done in the past” so I’ll assume that remark is directed elsewhere.

For someone so indifferent you’ve spent a lot of time and effort proposing amendments! I vote for “moaning and complaining” and “starting an argument in an empty room” over “engaging in a lively debate”. It was your initial praise for the excitement of the most winners comp that stirred all this up in the first place.
It comes over as a lack of gratitude and criticism of @MCLARKE’s running of the competition. I think a 2 month ban from the naps comp is merited!

I think that might have been based on a misunderstanding of what was being proposed, I’m not sure anyone was suggesting not allowing posting the night before prior to that post. I think there are 3 options on the table in most people’s thoughts.
Move to SP only (post when you like) Just scrap bog, otherwise as you are (early prices can still be taken) Retain bog but only for prices taken from a certain time on the day of racing I favour 2 with 1 the clear next best. Option 3 just complicates things for the guy running the competition, having to differentiate between selections that do and don’t qualify for bog.

So what if you're at work & you have no access to post between say 8-10am that means that the naps competition in null & void for some .

The easiest way and fairest way is to do away with the BOG and if you take an early price then thats your price. Or you take SP.
You need the option to take an early price, as a punter, in my opinion. But if B.0.G is being done away with, then so too should the  BOG in the competition.
I think the caveat that McClarke makes about allowing BOG after 9am, just makes extra work for him, checking on times etc

I do remember back when the Naps comp was SP only when I joined the forum ... it was very annoying if you'd plucked out a 10/1 shot and it got backed into 6/1 and won ....... surely looking for 'the value bet' is part of being a punter
But I'd be OK with scrapping BOG ..... if you take a price then you should be happy with that price. If you're not happy with the price, look for a different bet
If you think your selection might drift then opt for SP
If we're getting to the point where BOG is dependant on which bookmaker and what time of day it's just getting too fiddly ...... just scrap it !
