I cant believe the price of MIDTOWN in the 1:25 St-Cl 1/1 was 5/4 should be long odds on in my opinion.
there is value and there is value my friends.
That was a very expensive short head for this punter

I bet that "unseasonal going" would not stop them running in march. Also that argument falls flat on its face because we have summer jumping, i do take the Handicap point @Bang onmade as valid but handicappers know that, say an exposed 9/10yr old will not improve much no matter what race its in. My main point is that even at worst there was 3rd placed prize money on offer so the worst novice in any yard would have collected. Owners should be a bit miffed with their trainers and stop whinging about poor prize money.

    2 horse race at Cheltenham.
I was writing this just as My Drogo Fell which was going to be my point,
Shocking that trainers wont or cant get a horse ready for a premier race on the TV at the premier track.
Owners and trainers moan about prize money levels but wont participate in a race worth £13,000 to the winner and there would still be only 2 runners if it was 20K in my opinion.
This is not good for racing on any level, its not rocket science to point out that the worse chaser in the country could/would have won this race if it stayed on it's feet. I can not see any valid excuse for the lack of runners.

A win top & bottom of Friday's card with just the one placed as well .
To summarise , a dismal effort with a lighter wallet .
I'm off to watch Peterborough United v Fulham this afternoon so good chance I'll be a loser on both of my favourite sports .
Very well done to anyone making a profit yesterday on what is a dart job of a meeting albeit very intriguing .

anyone watching ITV4?  apparently Del Mar is 7 hours ahead of us now     dear oh dear

for those who are watching ITV for an avoidance of Chappers   didnt really see too much of him on Sky on the undercard  once + a feature of him surfing with Oisin Murphy,  while on subject of Sky little disappointed whilst showing the undercard they didnt show the 2105 race before going to the NBC coverage, still at least ITV are actually presenting there and presuming only taking the US commentary

No need to equate the figures because we know American turf horses are inferior to Europeans. Your second point on differing tracks is valid but a horse has an optimum speed it can't go any faster only slower. Some horses do better on differing tracks but all my experience and results tells me that its not a major factor in fact is quite minor but over inflated by excuses used by trainers jockeys and pundits. have you noticed how punters can come up with dozens of excuses to downgrade a horse? Last year Siskin was the best horse by far in its race a moderate horse (order of Australia 20/1) won the race simply because Siskin didn't perform up to its average it had had enough for the year in my opinion. what i am saying is just because you back the best horse in the race does not mean it will win and if it loses it does not all of a sudden become a bad horse.

I get all that you say and your points are valid but lets put it this way i would as a general rule say i formulate and use speed figures as a tool and because we have so many races in Europe thats a hell of a lot of data. whereas opinion is rarely data based. Consider this, we know some of these races will be won by silly priced horses and we will scratch our heads just like we do with UK racing you can only go on what info you have which you will agree is better than outside opinion or a set of darts. I know my Speed figures make me money year on year so my trust in them is better than me guessing based on any other factors. one other point there are speed figures and there are speed figures just like there are RP ratings and time form rating et al. you have to formulate your own and not use others that are available to all.
    Good luck with your picks

Bit of advice for the Beginners amongst us.
Very quirky meeting the Breeders Cup we have to be honest here and say we, the Europeans, usually get murdered no matter which track it is held at, however having said that we do have an advantage in the turf races due to the Americans predominantly breeding for dirt although often that advantages is somewhat muted mainly due to the the travel factor and for us the end of a very long season so caution is always advised. In my opinion it is prudent to keep your bets small and treat it as a fun night. So my selections are based around the turf races as there are better much qualified than me on here to look at the American dirt races.
Looking at the UK betting markets the bookies are not being very generous with their pricing. In the past I have usually split my stakes 50/50 between the US tote and UK bookies where a European horse is your bet and use the UK markets for US horses. One other point to mention European horses have good repeat winners percentage.

I have done the 2 year old speed figures for the European runners (Friday) and have a few selections as follows

    9:50 Friday   - 1 Vertignious (nap)            2 Hierarchy                3 Armor
    11:10 Friday - 1 Mise en Scene (nb)         2 Hello You                3 ?
    12:30 Friday - 1 Albahr                             2 Modern Games      3 Dubawi Legend

    Saturday selections
    625 Glesga Girl
    740 Emaraaty Anna/Glass Slippers
    859 Audarya
    1140 Tarnawa/Sisfahan

Both of Twilight Jet's wins have came over 5f including in the Cornwallis lto , has mostly been campaigned at 6f , has the plum draw in stall 1 with a Wesley Ward speedster along side , the main concern is the fast surface , has been placed on good to firm but good to soft / yielding is best surface .

Glass Slippers again has the plum draw & is 7/1 £ back if 2nd 3rd of 4th with Sky bet , I think will fill the places so bet to nothing & C Z Rocket at 14/1 ew Saturday 9.38 are two early ones I've done .
Good luck to all enjoying the extravaganza coming our way .
