I usually get a few points and if I'm lucky a $1 ticket.   Although I got a $11 WCOOP ticket last week, not sure if that was a bonus promo one. Must remember to use it!

Had to tell someone lol.
So I had been getting crushed every time I've played for the last few weeks. Not getting outplayed so much as just not making many hands and taking lots of bad beats. Until I played today and had a nice little session (+30 bb). Then I had a gold chest to open and it gave me 5000 points and $50 cash! + a freeroll ticket (so worth over $100). Never had such a lucky box. Anyone else been lucky?

I'm not actually against late reggers per se, but it does seem to go on for too long. The 10 min rule seems way too short to me. What time did registration actually close? Maybe we should introduce a rule where anyone who doesn't register by the first break, isn't eligible for points in the league?

A few interesting facts about tonight's tourney :
i) There were 12 players and it lasted 2 hours and 6 minutes, although the HU was prolonged when Barry rivered quad aces 
ii) If you sit out from the very beginning, with this structure it takes just 43 minutes to blind out - although you *were* six-handed for most of it Helen.
iii) We had two delayed reggers, one after 20 minutes, the other after 45 minutes (and four had already busted out)
iv) Both delayed reggers made the top three, the cash and the big points... maybe that's just a coincidence ?  

It looks like Stars have shafted Clubs by not allowing them to customise their own structures. Last week we averaged 12 hands per blind level, which means that using the 'regular' structure, by the end of Level 10 you will have posted 3132 chips in antes alone - more than the actual starting stack... the 'slow' structure is even worse. Maybe that's why it felt like a much 'faster' game.. because it was.
At the end of the day it's only a $5 tourney, if the majority are happy with the new turbo feel then so be it.
 

Leg 1 set up and open for registration

Punters Lounge is pleased to continue for July with our £150 added Poker League.  We run on Wednesday nights starting at 8.10pm, with a late registration period on top of this.  All games are played in the PokerStars Home Games PL Poker Club.  The first two legs are NLHE, then for a bit of variety we have a PLO leg in week 3, reverting back to NLHE for the final leg.  Due to PokerStars tinkering with the blind and chip options we are currently looking at the available structures and will confirm which apply for each leg in the thread as we go along.

 > Leg 2 : 8th July
 > Leg 3 : 15th July - PLO Leg
 > Leg 4 : 22nd July - double entrants in formula *
Buy in is $5.50 per leg.
Late registration is fixed by PokerStars but we would appreciate it if players would register within 15 minutes.  Persistent offenders may be excluded from the Home Games Club.
Your top 3 scores of the 4 legs will count towards your league total. We will be using the usual PL poker league format, which will be updated in this thread. (The PokerStars own league scores will not be used.) Formula is -Log(position/Entrants)x100
To help boost numbers overall and in particular in the final leg we are continuing the system of doubling the number of entries used in the calculation in leg 4 (so if 15 entries the formula will use 30 entrants). This will increase the number of points available in the final leg to make it more competitive.
All members are welcome, however you must post in this thread if asked to let us know your forum username, otherwise your placings and scores cannot be included in the league.  New players are always welcome to join in, so please spread the word and invite your friends so we can keep the weekly numbers up.

Can anyone recommend a poker site to play tournaments for real money please?
I’ve tried 888.com, but virtually each one I’ve looked at has rebuys with a time limit that seems to keep increasing, so they can go on forever.
Likewise with Party Poker, they have rebuys up to a certain level, and you can physically see that tournaments are still open (months after starting) showing no players, as the level has never been reached, but they’ve ran out of players. Therefore the winnings have never been paid out.
I’m just looking to play tournaments that actually have the chance to finish.
Any input would be welcome.

Main site is Party Poker, had some software issues previous but has been stable for a while now.
I use to have an error message pop up and it would cause my laptop to crash... Not ideal when I play generally 6 tables and across multiple sites... but all has been good for a while! Uninstall software and reinstalled most of the time but all has been good now!

I used to be playing 7 days a week, and started years ago on PokerStars, Paradise Poker, Ultimate Bet, Full tilt, Piggs Peak etc. My feeling is that online is dangerous. It is very easy to cheat, and say what they like, the various sites are clueless on how to stop it. Two things I would say. If you play a game like PLO, then you better have the right mindset for it. Big swings, and very volatile. You go from HIGH to LOW all day, and it's a game where you are going to get run over often. For me not worth playing online because you can get sandwiched between a low double suited wheel and a high double par hand easily (you get too much multi player action).
If I was playing online, I would want to play the same few guys HEADS-UP on a regular basis (and holdem). If I know I am a better player, making better reads, better folds, with better pre-flop discipline, I don't want others getting in the way. I don't mind losing to someone 2 times in every 10 meetings because in the long run I'm crushing it. And when you lose, don't steal their thunder or deny them the enjoyment of winning .... this way it's just a loan ... the cash comes back home.
Also, there is no collusion heads-up !
For me nothing worse than losing a huge hand to the table donkey in a live game, and then watching him donk your cash off to everyone else except you ! You sit there smiling through the aggravation, playing a game at a snails pace, seething inside, while this clown spews chips.   Heads up reduces this scenario to zero.

Hi to PL. Sorry for late response.
Recently I've only played on Poker Stars, 888Poker and Party Poker.  Some sites closed recently because the Microgaming platform closed, and some others are in the process of moving to different ones, so not actually sure what they are using at the moment.  Likes of Grosvenor.  I used to recommend sticking with the ones which are an arm of betting sites, but don't think there are many left now.

This is my first post on this forum! I want to describe all my ups and downs in online poker and my observations on poker topics!

I have been given the sad duty to announce that the owner of Punters Lounge Paul Ross, better known to many as Sir Puntalot passed away in hospital last night after losing his battle with Cancer. He was 45 years old.
I have known Paul for nearly 20 years and many of the members got to meet him at various PL Race days and Poker tournaments.
He was a very good friend to me and was always there on the end of the Phone, Skype, Slack etc....
Paul was very straight forward and always strived to make Punters Lounge the best betting site on the internet, he knew this day was coming and has a team in place to carry on the good work and as he would say, its business as normal.
The funeral will be next week sometime which will be a small family affair due to the Coronavirus situation.

Plus I am placing a weekly £10 bounty on my head (PL-AvonGirl).  If I win my own bounty or fail to play a leg the additional money will be added to the Bad Beat pool explained below in the form of a further prize.
The remaining £10 (or additional £10's) will be paid to the worst Bad Beat(s) of the four weekly legs which are posted in this thread. To claim, you must post a screenshot of the showdown making it clear the hands involved.  The judge's (my) decision is final and the £10 will be awarded to the worst beat in my opinion, and not necessarily wholly limited to the odds at the time, although this is most likely provided I can work them out.
