Re: Under/Over - Baseball Hi Caminante I have started to get interested in baseball, since the football season has been ending. I try to stick to win doubles on which I am showing the following returns Doubles Stakes 152 Returns 216.85 Profit 64.85 Yield 43% But when I add in the odd Treble, fourfold and even three singles these figures drop dramatically All Bets Stakes 208 Returns 230.28 Profit 22.28 Yield 11% So I'm trying to stick to doubles! I'm getting a match strike rate of about 67% Correct Doubles have a strike rate of about 45% (17/38) Other bets (1,3,4 sels) strike rate only 7% (1/14) not good! I haven't posted any selection as I am a total novice and am still trying to get to the bottom of the baseball statistics. Where are you based, I am in UK, hence my trouble with US statistics (IP, ERA, RBI etc) Currently I am comparing home v away overall win % and home win % v away win % I would be interested to find out what factors you take into account as I have many 'factors' in my spreadsheet, but am still trying to fathom out which are the most significant. Who is pitching is v significant, but not in my spreadsheet, I look on the web after I have identified possible ganes to see how the pitchers compare. Any information, advice would be welcome. Regards Fletco

I would second Bet365 as the best bookmaker to start off with and they will double your first deposit up to £200 so it would be good if you can maximize this as its a one time only deal. They also give you a free £50 bet in play on some games from time to time.
As you are betting for a bit of fun I won't recommend that you have multiple bookies to get the best prices but if some day you decide to do that then use PayPal to move money easily between bookmakers. You can also take advantage of a few bookmakers signup bonuses to decrease your risk of betting with your own money.
Bankroll management is important i.e. You will go on a run of losing bets and you need to bet a small enough percentage of your betting funds so this bad run won't empty your account. Generally speaking if you are betting on football, usually at odds of close to evens then simply betting 5% of your betting funds is a solid approach.
When people are starting out they want to win a lot of money from a small amount bet (similar to the lottery) and this usually ends badly. If you really want to have a bit of fun and not deposit more than your initial deposit then your best chance of doing this is to bet singles (instead of accumulators).

More advanced topics involve calculating and finding value but that is a good bit in the future for you. For now just keep a record of all your bets and see where you are losing the most money and gradually eliminate these bets.

Good luck. Never bet what you are not willing to lose. There is no such thing as a sure thing.

Home form is the most important thing in football, if you can't win your home games.....you're going nowhere, probably down, as you won't win enough points on the road to negate bad home form!!
I just think journalists have a book of footballing cliche questions that they pass round to each other.

Couldn't agree more Stevie d. The problems lie at the top, added that there is no long term strategy at UTD, then they aren't going anywhere for a while.
Poch won't leave Spurs now will he? Spurs are on the brink of becoming a bigger club than Utd. I wouldn't fancy any of that lot if I was a Utd fan. Get Eddie Howe in!
They need a manager who can play a modern, atttacking style of football.

With the Lincoln on next weekend, it reminded me to mention this filly trained by Sir Michael Stoute called: Clerisy
Was expected to get the Christmas money for the staff on debut at Wolverhampton in December but was only 3rd, but I liked what i saw and she will win races
