I recently updated the title of the topic as I have decided that I don't want to stick to one bet type (ie. over 2,5 goals). However my bets will still mainly be the over 2.5 goals as I have been posting.

    Athletic Bilbao vs Granada
OK, so we had mixed fortunes with Athletic Bilbao last week when they helped the BTTS bet come in but let us down in the outright bet with that naughty 79th minute winner against Osasuna. I'm a forgiving guy though and I'm willing to give them a second chance to impress us in this 1pm GMT kick-off this Sunday against Granada at the San Mames in Bilbao.
Athletic Bilbao are now building up a nice run of results. It's now four league games unbeaten for Gaizka Garitano's men and that has seen them move up to 5th in the table knocking on the door of the Champions League qualification spots. Home form is on the improvement as well with the club now undefeated in their last three home league matches. The 1-0 loss at home to Valencia back in September remains their only taste of defeat on home turf in the league this season.
Granada offer interesting opposition to the hosts in this game. Head coach Diego Martinez has seen his team perform well this season. The club is currently in 8th place in the table and only 2 points off the pace of the Europa League qualification places. Unfortunately, four league games without a win including three defeats has seen them drop off the pace of the big hitters and it'll now be intriguing to see how they cope with this downturn in form. Fortunes on the road have been particularly poor with three straight losses away from home and four matches on the road without a victory now.
Everything is pointing towards a home win for Athletic Bilbao here. The ELO ratings, the form book, the performance levels, and the quality of the two teams. It's been a courageous start for Granada this season. Whoever would have predicted they'd start so strong. Sadly, it seems the bubble has now burst. The club are at risk of going into free fall and expecting anything other than a gallant fighting loss here is hopeful at best.

    Valencia vs Chelsea
The Champions League action continues tonight with La Liga side Valencia hosting Premier League club Chelsea in a 5:55pm GMT kick-off at the Mestalla. Group H remains in the balance and the results tonight could have a huge bearing on who qualifies for the last 16 and who will have to console themselves with a venture into the Europa League after finishing third.
Valencia are the team currently in third place but they are there on goal difference. Head coach Albert Celades has done a solid job since coming in for the outgoing Marcelino and he'll be hoping his team can all but seal their spot in the knockout phase with victory here having beaten Chelsea at Stamford Bridge by a 1-0 score-line earlier in the campaign. Valencia have played 9 English sides in European competition at home and have defeated 7 of them. Chelsea and West Brom are the two teams they are yet to beat on their own patch. The Spanish side have won 3 of their last 4 home games in Europe.
Chelsea come into this game knowing a win or draw will put them in a great position to qualify for the next phase with a trip to bottom-placed Lille awaiting them in their final fixture as Valencia must face a clash with group leaders Ajax. The Blues have only lost 1 of their last 11 away games in Spain and could record three consecutive away wins in the Champions League for the first time since 2003/04.
In terms of the head-to-head record, it heavily favours Chelsea. The Blues have won 3, drawn 3, and lost just 1 of their games against Valencia in the Champions League. However, that single win was in their last meeting. Frank Lampard's side come into this game knowing they are undefeated at the Mestalla in the Champions League. The absence of Antonio Rudiger could be an influencing factor but I think a draw is a fair shout here. Not confident enough to back them for the win at the price being offered.

It's absolutely worthwhile, it's been worth thousands of pounds to me, whether that's viewed as reducing my losses (especially in the earlier days) or increasing the winnings.
First and foremost, especially now, it's used for recording every bet I place and giving me the ability to analyse the results in detail. That strips away the universal tendency to overestimate how well you're doing or underestimate how badly. Recently I've eliminated bets that were costing me a lot of money even though I assumed it was one of my strengths (past results being no guarantee of ongoing profit) and found profitable bets to put real money on after tracking paper trades for a while. None of that data is available elsewhere, hence it's value to you.
For sports other than football, there's not necessarily the same depth of data out there so capturing and analysing you own stats is necessary. Even for football, you can do more targeted analysis on specific areas with Excel than you can do online.
Excel (or other freely available equivalent tools) is only the entry level tool when it comes to data capture and analysis in betting and I'm by no means an expert user but I can't imagine betting without it and I guarantee it's worth the effort of mastering the basics.

Atalanta have the best offensive line with 30 goals in 12, which means they score 2.5 goals per game on average. Juventus, with a lack of defense, makes it easier to score goals and makes it easier to win. If we take a look at the statistics, we can see that the home team has 9 of 12 over 2,5 and I will follow its style of play

Fair enough, your choice and I apologise for any offence. Personally I don't think anything I said went beyond fair comment in terms of open debate on a betting forum and I hope no-one else found my comments disrespectful.
Ironically, I now find myself sufficiently interested in the subject to have done a bit more digging so I'll probably add periodic updates to the thread.

That proves that then! Obviously one example, win or lose, proves nothing about the value of a given strategy but your example is dubious to say the least! If you really want to illustrate that this might work, post real selections, with actual odds, in advance (no need to put real money down but at least they are bets that could be followed).
    A few observations:
Only now are you stipulating only backing the teams at home; you never mentioned this before. You started out with "odds of 3.1 + each team" but are now assuming odds of 2.5.  One of your "doubles" involves matches that were 13 days apart! Your start date seems to have been 24th September even though the thread dates back to August; you can't pick and choose matches just to support your desired outcome. How is the stake 15 units in week 3 if it was going to be 1 in week 1 then 2 in week 2? I still don't believe this strategy will deliver long term profits but it would be interesting to see a genuine attempt to demonstrate it's merits with "live" examples. Please don't waste our time with back-fitted results chosen just because they suit you.
