Agree about Hurts. I haven't got as good a price but it's not far off.
57pts Hurts to score a TD in Vikings against Eagles at 2.00

Hurts at 21/20 is a system bet. Odds on everywhere else and I'd tend to agree with that. Brown 5/4 and Mattison 11/8 are borderline backable. Had a small double on both Hurts and Brown at 21/5.

As usual week one of the NFL season threw up some shocks. Kansas City Chiefs, the Bills, the Chargers and the Bengals all lost. At the end of the season all of these teams will be in the play-offs. You must not forget one game does not make a season.
    1.      Kansas City Chiefs to win ATS -3.5 points @ 10/11
The Wheels have not come off the super-bowl champions golden carriage. They will be angry to lose to the Lions, but with ten days to game plan, they will take it out the Jags.
    2.      Eagles to win ATS -6.0 points @ 10/11
The Eagles were many people’s choice for this year’s super-bowl. They appeared to take their foot of the gas allowing the Patriots back into the game last week. The Eagles will show their true form this week.
    3.       Chargers to win ATS – 3.0 points @ 20/21
The Chargers had a real shoot out with the Dolphins last week. They should be able to beat the Titans who look very one dimensional relying on keeping the matches very close and low scoring.
    4.      NY Giants to win ATS @ -5.5 points @ 10/11
Despite losing 40-0 against the Cowboys in week one, the Giants played well until falling behind to a blocked field goal. After that the Dallas defence was superb. This week they play the Cardinals who in my opinion are the worst team in the NFL.
    5.      New Orleans Saints to win ATS -3.0 points @ 20/23
The Saints will not fear the panthers, with Bryce Young finishing with a QB rating of just 48.8, 3.8 yards per attempt and two interceptions.

    Week one results
With no form to go on in week one matches can be a coin flip. So I shall favour a few underdogs. All 3 underdogs win, two favourites well beaten.
    Bet 5 teams - W3 L2 staked 30.00 points returned 6.96 points a weekly loss of -23.04 points.
    1.      Dolphins win 36-34
The Dolphins are a strong team and may have too much for the Chargers. Both teams will have a good season.
    2.      Raiders win 17-16
One QB I think is past his best is Denver’s Russell Wilson. This makes the Raiders a decent bet. I shall continue to back against Wilson and the Bronco's.
    3.      Browns win 24-3
Uncertainty around the fitness of the Bengals QB Joe Burrows, together with the extra points for the home team makes the Browns appealing. Nick Chubb could be the difference. Burrows clearly not match fit.
    4.      Bears lose 20-38
Whilst Green Bay will not implode following the loss of Aaron Rodgers, Jordan Love will struggle against a feisty Bears team. Bears were disappointing showing no improvement on last years form despite the close season improvements to the roster.
    5.      Seahawks lose 13-30
The LA Rams will find Seattle a hostile place. With star player Cooper Kupp injured it must be advantage Seattle. Rams performance must be noted, coming back from  a 13-7 deficit at half time. Rams scored 23 points without response.

My selections will be guided by NFL.com Power Rankings and, after about 4 weeksa to settle down top picks from the Westgate Hilton Supercontest (published before the games). People have to pay ~ $1K to enter the contest, so there are some smart minds to gudie the way

The Punters Lounge Fantasy Football League enters the first international break of the season with a new leader at the top of the table. Rob Cooper's email this team in have dislodged Ya'u Ado's Zakariya FC at the summit. In fact, Zakariya FC have dropped all the way down to 9th after a mediocre 69 points total. It just goes to show how high the quality is this year. Rob will be thanking not only Erling Haaland as his captain for bringing home 40 of the 92 points he earned but there were also solid points returns from the likes of Cristian Romero, Andrew Robertson, Bryan Mbeumo, Martin Odegaard, James Ward-Prowse, and Darwin Nunez. He even enjoyed the luxury of having Gabriel Martinelli's 5 points on his bench unused.
Still, the 92 points Cooper's men earned wasn't enough to earn him Manager of the Week. Not even close. In fact, it wasn't even @Gray306 with his Ju-Lo's Lamborghini with 105 points. Or @TFC's TFC with their 108 points haul. This week's Manager of the Week went to @Chris P's Dynamo Langdale. Unsurprisingly, his decision to triple captain Haaland was the moneymaker. Even so, Haaland's 60 points were added to by impressive double-figure returns by Trent Alexander-Arnold, Son Heung-min, and Dominik Szoboszlai. Well played!
Unfortunately, us staff members here at Punters Lounge must grieve the reputation of one of our own this week. For it is our very own tech wizard @Steve Coleman who must parade through the streets of his current hometown naked and full of shame after amassing a meagre 22 points to end up with the lowest score of the week. Steve will have his team in for extra training next week with only Bukayo Saka, James Maddison, and Alexander Isak earning more than 2 points each!
A special shout out to Ya'u Ado's Zakariya FC who was the winner of the August Manager of the Month but, unfortunately, did not fulfil the required criteria of posting their team name and username in the competition sign-up thread so did not win the monthly prize that was available. Let's hope this month's Manager of the Month does meet the eligibility!
We now have a two week break until the next round of Premier League matches with the deadline for transfers not until 11 am BST on Saturday 16th September. Let us know which players you're thinking about putting in and shipping out. I would also like to apologise to all Chelsea fans for bringing Raheem Sterling into my team this week. Absolutely jinxed you didn't I!

Week 1 is always a tough one to call, but I agree with @PercyP on the Raiders. They had their number twice last season so I'll take +3.5 as well.
I also like the Eagles at -4 so I'll take that as a double.

Good luck. I'll be going with anytime TD scorer system again. Having reviewed the results from the last seasons the criteria will be as follows:
Players whose TD minutes can be sold at 20 or more Best bookies price is 1.9 or better Best bookies price offers a minimum 2% edge over my "fair" price Would have given 189 bets, 17.01 points profit and ROI 9%. Maybe better if you can get a bigger price on the exchanges. See how it goes but it gives me an interest.

I think 6 teams that reached the play-offs last season will fail to reach the play-offs this year.
With Aaron Rodgers at the Jets, the AFC West should be more competitive. This could impact the Dolphins who may miss out.
The AFC North will be a battle royal and I could see the Bengals being ousted as league winners but qualifying as a wild card. Baltimore fail to make the play-offs.
The LA Chargers maybe usurped by the Bronco's this year.
In the NFC East I can not see the Giants making it this year with a much harder fixture list.
The Saints could triumph in the NFC South eliminating Tampa Bay.
The AFC South does not look strong, so I could see the Jags missing out.
