Pretty much break even for me with Achane and Etienne scoring. Hat trick for Williams but Barkley let the BB down. I think that means the year ends with me still up for the season but down for the calendar year so hopefully have a better post season this time around. Happy New Year to my fellow gridiron grafters!

    Week 16 Results
So close. Week 16 started with a real bang with the Rams coasting to a nether in doubt victory 30-22. The Raiders did not need the +10 points defeating the Chiefs outright. Two wins.
My other three teams all succumbed to late comebacks.
Jets (-3 points) led 27-7 at half time but in the end won by only two points.
Eagles (-12 points) led 20-3 at half time won by eight 33-25.
Cowboys (moneyline) led 20-19 until the final kick of the game which gave Miami a 22-20 win.
Picks 5 Won 2 Drew 0 Lost 3, Staked 30 points, Returned Nil points for a loss of 30.00 points.
    ATS 2023 record
    Picks 80 = W40 D5 L35 – staked 480.00 points – returned 890.54 points resulting in a 2023 seasonal profit of +410.54 points – Happy to finish the season in profit.
    1. Eagles to win ATS -12.0 points @ 10/11 – Eagles win 33-25 = LOST
Flu in the Eagles camp last week meant the Eagles have now lost their last three games against the 49Ers, Cowboys and Seattle. Playing against a poor New York Giants team will allow the Eagles to put plenty of points on the board. 33 points should have been enough to have beaten this spread.
    2. Dallas to win Moneyline @ 10/11 – Last kick of the game gives Miami the victory 22-20 = LOST
Last week I thought the Cowboys would be competitive with the Bills and wrote “The Cowboys rank first in the NFL in scoring. They are also yielding the fourth-fewest points in the NFL and beating their opponents by an average of more than two touchdowns. A win for Dallas is needed as they and the Eagles fight for first place in the NFC East”.
This still applies and with injuries to Miami’s offense I think Dallas can make up for last week’s poor performance. Miami struggled to score relying on 5 field goals.
    3. Raiders to win ATS +10.0 points @ 10/11 – No spread needed Raiders win 20-14 = WON
The Chiefs have not looked “the super bowl” champions for much of this season. Their wide receivers are off the pace. They only beat the Patriots last week by 10 and the Raiders are much better than the Patriots and are still trying to win matches. The Raiders confidence will be high following last week’s win. It was.
    4. Jets to win ATS -3.0 points @ 10/11 – Jets win by 2 (30-28) = LOST
Last week I took the Raiders to win following a shut out the previous week. They won scoring 63 points.
A similar bet is available this week. The Jets could not score against a top five Miami defence, but they will score against a Washington defence ranked last in the NFL. They scored 30, however the Commanders got 28.
    5. Rams to win ATS -4.0 points @ 10/11 - THURSDAY NIGHT – Easy win 30-22 = WON
The Rams offence is hot with Cooper Kupp receiving and Kyren Williams rushing giving Matthew Stafford plenty of options. The Saints recently beat the Giants and Panthers however prior to this their defence looked leaky allowing the Lions 33, the Falcons 24 and the Vikings 27 points. In a shoot-out I will take Stafford over Carr. Saints let in 30.

The final two weeks of the season tends to throw up some strange results as teams turn their attention to the playoffs
    Jets @ Browns
The Jets (6-9) season is already over, whilst the Browns (10-5) are still fighting in the AFC North. A win would give them a place in the playoffs. The Browns at home are 7-1 so I would be surprised to see the Jets victorious.
    Lions @ Cowboys
Both these teams will be in the playoffs. Cowboys are 7-0 at home and will flourish against a Lions defence which allows the opposition to score plenty.
    Cardinals @ Eagles
Eagles (11-4) have the Cowboys on their tales in the NFC East so will be playing to win. A 6-1 home record gives further confidence in the Eagles. The Cardinals are 3-12 and only have pride to play for.
    Falcons @ Bears
Whilst mathematically both these teams could reach the play-offs, their chances will be extinguished should they lose this game. The Falcons (7-8) who love the physical running game will not be at a disadvantage in the Windy city.
    Panthers @ Jags
The Jags (8-7) are in a three way tie for the AFC South, so they win be looking for a win against a lowly Panthers team (2-13). The Lawrence injury is a worry.
    Rams @ Giants
The Giants (5-10) season is over and should lose to improve their draft pick. For the Rams (8-7) this is a must win game. The Rams offence is on fire scoring 125 points in their last four matches.
    Raiders @ Colts
The Colts (8-7) are in a three way tie for the AFC South, so they win be looking for a home victory. The Raiders have played so well to get their record to (7-8) have only a very slim chance of making the playoffs. The Raiders away form is not as good as their home form 2-5 on the road.
    Dolphins @ Ravens
Ravens will get the number one seed with a win against the Dolphins. The Dolphins are already sure of being in the playoffs and will be keen to get their injured offensive players fit for the end of season playoffs.
    Patriots @ Bills
Bills (9-6) will make the playoffs with a victory. The Patriots (4-11) will be happy to lose and improve their draft position. After years of being beaten by their divisional rivals, the Bills will want to destroy the Pats.
    Saints @ Buccaneers
The Buccs (8-7) lead the NFC South with the Saints close behind (7-8). This is a must win game for both teams.
    49Ers @ Washington
49Ers were the first team to qualify for the playoffs and their focus will be on the end of season games. The Commanders (4-11) are out of the playoff picture so will take a respectable loss.
    Titans @ Texans
The Texans (8-7) are in a three way tie for the AFC South, so they win be looking for a home victory. The Titans are bottom of the division (5-10) and cannot make the playoffs.
    Steelers @ Seahawks
Both of these teams are 8-7 and both will want to win this.
    Bengals @ Chiefs
The Chiefs (9-6) will win the AFC West. For the 8-7 Bengals this is a must win game.
    Chargers @ Broncos
The Broncos (7-8) are still in the playoff picture so a win is important. The Chargers (5-10) will be playing for pride and their new coach.
    Packers @ Vikings
This is a must win game for both (7-8) teams

    Week 16 Picks
With strange results often occurring in the last two weeks of the season, this will be my final selections for the 2023 NFL season. So I hope to go out in style.
For my first three selections, I am sticking with three teams I chose last week.
    1. Eagles to win ATS -12.0 points @ 10/11
Flu in the Eagles camp last week meant the Eagles have now lost their last three games against the 49Ers, Cowboys and Seattle. Playing against a poor New York Giants team will allow the Eagles to put plenty of points on the board.
    2. Dallas to win Moneyline @ 10/11

They only beat the Patriots last week by 10 and the Raiders are much better than the Patriots and are still trying to win matches. The Raider's confidence will be high following last week’s sizable win.
    4. Jets to win ATS -3.0 points @ 10/11
Last week I took the Raiders to win following a shut out the previous week. They won scoring 63 points. A similar bet is available this week. The Jets could not score against a top five Miami defence, but they will score against a Washington defence ranked worst in the NFL.
    5. Rams to win ATS -4.0 points @ 10/11 - THURSDAY NIGHT
Week 15 Results
Week 15 started with a real bang with the raiders demolishing the Chargers 63-21. This fuelled hopes for another profitable week. But three of my teams succumbed to late come from behind defeats.
The Steelers jumped out to a 13-0 lead before allowing the Colts to score 30 unanswered points (13-30).
The Eagles led 17-10 going into the final quarter but failed to hold on losing 17-20 to the Seahawks and the Titans led 16-9 with seven minutes left but  managed to lose (16-19) to the Texans.
Picks 5 Won 1 Drew 0 Lost 4, Staked 30 points, Returned Nil points for a loss of 30.00 points.
    ATS YTD record
    Picks 75 = W38 D5 L32 – staked 450.00 points – returned 890.54 points resulting in a 2023 seasonal profit of +440.54 points
    1. Raiders to win ATS -3.0 points @ 20/23 – THURSDAY NIGHT – Demolition job by the Raiders 63-21 = WON
The Raiders let me down last week failing to score against a Vikings defence ranked in the top 10. Against a Chargers defence ranked 29 out of 32, they should score plenty.
The Chargers have little to play for as their hopes of reaching the play-offs are limited. They are super reliant on Justin Herbert, so without him (out injured for the rest of the season) and against a strong Raiders defence I cannot see them keeping this competitive. This was not competitive and the Raiders did indeed score plenty.
    2. Steelers to win Moneyline @ 21/20 – Colts run the ball against the Steelers winning 30-13 = LOST
The Steelers have lost their last two home games, however the money continues to come for the Steelers. Colts QB Gardener Minshew is regressing and will find no rest from the aggressive Steelers defence. Whilst the Colts cannot stop the run, so Harris & Warren will keep the Steelers on the front foot. The Steelers could not stop the Colts running game.
     3. Dallas to win Moneyline @ 23/20 – Poor performance from Dallas lost 31-10 = LOST
A win for the Bills against the Chiefs last week will see the public jumping on the Bills. Since week four, the Bills have only beaten one team by seven points or more. Their games are usually close affairs. The Cowboys rank first in the NFL in scoring. They are also yielding the fourth-fewest points in the NFL and beating their opponents by an average of more than two touchdowns. A win for Dallas is needed as they and the Eagles fight for first place in the NFC East. Was it too cold for Dallas?
    4. Titans to win ATS -2.5 points @ 5/6 – Titans lose in Overtime 16-19 = LOST
The Titans pulled off a major shock beating Miami last week. However this selection is more about the Titans home form (4-2) against a Texans team fading as the season progresses. There are also doubts about CJ Stroud playing (right shoulder injury). C.J. Stroud didn't play, but the Texans were able to keep their playoff hopes alive, thanks to an impressive comeback win.
     5. Eagles to win ATS -4.0 points @ 10/11 – Eagles hit by Flu losing 20-17 to the Seahawks = LOST
The Eagles will be desperate to win the NFC East. After games against the Chiefs (won), Bills (won), 49Ers (lost) and Cowboys (lost) this game against Seattle should be easier. Flu in the camp affected the Eagles performance.

The big question on everyone's lips this coming weekend is "Who will win the coveted Christmas Number One for 2023?". Is it Sam Ryder with "You're Christmas To Me"? Or maybe Wham!'s "Last Christmas"? Or will there even be a poignant top spot given to The Pogues and Kirsty MacColl for "Fairytale of New York"? Well, all of those candidates might be in with a chance but that's the Christmas Number One that nobody cares about. That's the Punters Lounge Fantasy Football League Christmas Number One!
Heading into the final weekend of action before Christmas Day, we still have @Gray306 leading the way but his lead is now just 6 points after second-placed Steve Durrant made up some ground last week. A gap has now started to open up between the top two and the rest of the chasing pack so you have to say the smart money is on one of those two taking top spot on Christmas Day this year.
The Manager of the Week accolade goes to Paul Barrett and his Alfies Lad team. A round total of 84 points was an impressive showing which was even more impressive given the team captain Luis Diaz only managed to earn 6 points. The duo of Mohammed Kudus and Cole Palmer notched up 30 points between them. That certainly helped. A defensive back three of Konstantinos Tsimikas, Pedro Porro, and Trent Alexander-Arnold also bagged a total of 24 points between them. A classic example of a proper team effort.
On the flip side, we must put a new manager in the village stocks this week. In what is one of the worst weekly scores we've encountered this season, it was Darama Mallum Wadai's Rexyking team who could only muster 17 points. The fact that the squad still possesses Kepa Arrizabalaga, Davinson Sanchez, and Harry Kane suggests that the manager might've been placed on gardening leave. Oh deary me.
The deadline for transfers for this week is an unusual 6:30pm UK time on Thursday 21st December! Best of luck everyone! Hopefully, the tables will update on Christmas Eve after the Wolves versus Chelsea game. If they are not updated before I head out for a Christmas Eve family party then I'll get them updated. Otherwise, I'll post an update as soon as I can over the Christmas period. If I don't message before then, I wish you all a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!

They are also yielding the fourth-fewest points in the NFL and beating their opponents by an average of more than two touchdowns. A win for Dallas is needed as they and the Eagles fight for first place in the NFC East.
    4. Titans to win ATS -2.5 points @ 5/6
The Titans pulled off a major shock beating Miami last week. However this selection is more about the Titans home form (4-2) against a Texans team fading as the season progresses. There are also doubts about CJ Stroud playing (right shoulder injury).
    5. Eagles to win ATS -4.0 points @ 10/11
The Eagles will be desperate to win the NFC East. After games against the Chiefs (won), Bills (won), 49Ers (lost) and Cowboys (lost) this game against Seattle should be easier.

    Week 14 Results
Another profitable week, despite the Ravens missing by one point and the Raiders bet being a push.
Picks 5 Won 3 Drew 1 Lost 1, Staked 30 points, Returned 41.39 points for a profit of 11.39 points.
    ATS YTD record
    Picks 70 = W37 D5 L28 – staked 420.00 points – returned 890.54 points resulting in a 2023 seasonal profit of +470.54 points
    1. Ravens to win ATS -7.0 points @ 10/11 – Ravens win by 6 in overtime = LOST
Whist I chose the Rams last week, I believe the Ravens will take care of things this week. The Ravens are well rested coming off a bye, they have home advantage and Lamar Jackson and their defence are playing really well. The Rams will be travelling West to East and will be playing in a colder environment. The Ravens won but their defence was poor allowing 410 yards of total offence.
    2. Raiders to win ATS +3.0 points @ 10/11 – The lost scoring game of the season saw the Vikings win 3-0 = DRAW
The Raiders have played so much better having fired their coach. At home I think the Raiders will be able to out muscle the Vikings. The Raiders defence was excellent, but their offence was dreadful.
    3. Browns to win ATS -3.0 points @ 20/23 –  Lawrence suits up but Browns win by 4 (31-27) = WON
The Jags losing Trevor Lawrence will be huge. They are playing against the best defence in the NFL. I can’t see the Jags scoring more than 14. So I shall take the Browns at home. Trevor Lawrence didn't look like himself, which is understandable given the fact that he was playing on one good leg. With Lawrence compromised, the Browns defence pressured him forcing several wayward passes.
     4. Bears to win ATS +3.0 points @ 1/1 – Bears win 28-13 = WON
In week 11 the Lions came back in the last quarter to win 31-26 against the Bears. Jared Goff had a total meltdown in that game with three interceptions. Playing in the cold and windy City, Goff will not be comfortable and dreading facing this team again. The Bears defence dominated the Lions in the second half holding them to just 76 yards offence.
    5. Bronco’s to win ATS +2.5 points @ 1/1 – Bronco’s win 24-7 = WON
Alert – I am picking the Bronco’s with Russell Wilson. Am I mad?
The Chargers are just too reliant on their QB Justin Herbert and he will be under a lot of pressure from an improving Bronco’s defence. The Chargers defence is one of the worst in the NFL particularly against the pass (31/32) so I hope Russell Wilson can throw the ball without any interceptions. The Bronco’s are showing the better all-round form. The Bronco’s defence continues to be excellent, with the Chargers 0 from 12 on third downs.
