  1. Re: Cheltenham Chat But he is in 7th just behind the leaders pulling double up the hill? Where is he supposed to be, front run? Was a good ride, horse is a non-stayer. Jockey did well to save so much on him. Different ride and he wouldn't even placed.

  2. Re: Cheltenham Chat

Nice tip Jimmy - well done mate. My heart goes out to anyone that just backed Chapoturgeon.... What a shocking ride - double handful just before 2 out and miles back.... Great finish ridden by the winner too.... 2 more to go!! It's been emotional!
That was a pretty decent ride to be fair, just outstayed.
  3. Re: Cheltenham Chat

Yip' date=' The Giant Bolster finishing 2nd says it all, no disrespect to the horse.[/quote'] Time For Rupert 4th.. Knockara Beau so close. Just not a great Gold Cup. Long Run has had too much racing early in his career. Kauto is now probably gone? I would've fancied Denman if he was still around lol :)
  4. Re: BKI's Betting Log

You and Mileni have shown me the light with regard Ante-post betting... It really does pay off' date=' all you have to do is know what your doing... Fingers crossed for you today mate[/quote'] Antepost is so essential and most of all so easy. I'm having a mare, not a single winner on the handicaps and I've never had such a bad festival. But 2 big bets on Sacre and Riverside at 10/1 and I'm on slight profit. Very very important if you know what you're doing :)
  5. Re: Tues: 4.00 Glenfarclas Cross Country Handicap Chase I'm not looking past Uncle Junior and Scotsirish here. Prob EW for both. Both beat Garde Champetre this year and both will probably do the same today. Not so sure how strong the form of last year is and I'm opposing both Sizing and Maljimar. Small saver on Gone To Lunch, who might perk up in this kind of race and he usually is a good stayer, so 40/1 is worth a nibble.

  6. Re: Tues: 5.15 Centenary Novices Handicap Chase Think Triolo D'Dalene has drifted to a backable price at 7/1 after being hammered all week. Wouldn't touch the other 2 marked leaders with him having so much scope for improvement. Think he deserves to be clear fav and might get backed again tomorrow. Trainer and jockey were "too bullish" about him and it resulted in a heavy antepost gamble. I really wanted him to go Plate, which for me is the easier race and he was 14/1 there with low weight. My 2nd fancy is Mic's Delight, who is rated higher over hurdles and has been kept to small fields over fences improving with every run. Ran a cracker at Sandown behind Skint and disputed the lead with Dynaste 2 out. I think he will improve a lot for handicaps. Cucumber Run was going the right way over fences, but fluffed his lines lto. Price allows us to take a chance however and I will make him a small bet. The dangers are Harpsy Cord, Going Wrong, Educated Evans, who I'll probably play with and save my stake on. Tough race.

  7. Re: Tues: 2.40 Festival Handicap Chase From the market leaders I fancy Hold On Julio to come on top. Quant has top weight and might be content with a place, which will make him eligible for the National. I think HOJ upped 9lbs for lto was very lenient. Very similar to Bensalem in a way that he's really unexposed, but it's hot race this year. I will back him thought. My other main bet is Tullamore Dew, who got outpaced in last years Centenary and ran on well for a place. His effort at Ascot was really good and he failed only by a head to what for me is the most game horse in training. Massini just never knows when he's beaten. The Ballymore win 3 or 4 years ago was immense performance. At a bigger price I like Zarrafakt and Baile Anrai. The former won easily his last race and the latter was shaping up nicely behind Invictus and Bobs Worth lto. His 2nd to Fingal Bay looks decent form too. Both have the scope to improve. Package couldn't even win the 2010 of similar mark and that was one of the worst Festival Handicap Chases I've ever seen with winner and 3rd big big disappointments and extremely flattered by that result. Potential improver could be Our Mick, but his price is short on what he has achieved and trainer talking up his chances. Fruity O'Rooney jumps to the left and will improve for Cheltenham, but I doubt he's any better than his current mark. He will run his usual race. Wouldn't be the worst saver in the world.

  8. Re: Tues: 3.20 Stan James Champion Hurdle If this was flat race I would back Fly to place like I do with Frankel, because it's free money. It's jumps however and anything can happen with fallers and horses being brought down, so will just enjoy the race and cheer Fly for my treble. Don't think there is an angle on the w/o fav market either. They are all pretty much the same to me.

  9. Re: Tues: 2.05 Arkle Challenge Trophy Very hard to play this race on the day with SS being odds on and Al Ferof short too. Don't think Cue Card or Menorah can beat them, but I've saved on them in any case. If you're not antepost already, I don't think there is a bet in the race except backing at PP and getting your money back if SS wins. I don't care who of the front two wins, because I would win pretty much the same with either result and have decent bet on CC too, but for the sake of the sport I would love SS winning. Could be a real champion over 2m with years to come. Al Ferof I see as a King George horse next year.

  10. Re: Tues: 1.30 Supreme Novices Hurdle Having had a proper look at the race I think Colour Squadron has been overlooked. Certainly doesn't deserve to be 2x the price of Montbazon, who he beat at Newbury and was in the process of "probably" beating again though you never know. Might be Meonrah-esque with having to make his own running and improving a lot for stronger pace and big field. Think him and Midnight Game would be my two although the latter hasn't worked well lately and Davy Russell has decided to go on Trifolium, but it won't be the first time he's made a bad call. By Montjeu and has gears, so might outrun his price. Will have small dabble on Vulcanite, who is classy and might settle off strong pace and saver on Darlan.

  11. Re: The Cheltenham Bankers

I very much like the mare Quevega but why has she only had 2 races the last 2 seasons ? Has she had training /injury problems . Is the 10 month breaks by design ? If she reproduces her winning performances she's got a great chance , but to come here after almost a year off , can she be called the " biggest banker of the year " ? How many of you out there are prepared to put a maximum bet on her ?
She does too much at home if you push her, so she goes to Chelt fresh with just few gallops behind her. She doesn't even school at home. The first flight she actually jumps is the one at Cheltenham. She is just a freakishly good horse.
  12. Re: Ante Post Jumps Thread 2011-2012 If Riverside Theatre was just outpaced in Arkle and it wasn't the track (I wish we had more evidence for that), then he will hack up imo. Probably gonna win next year's King George. He's just class above. The price reflects that tough. If there wasn't the track doubt, he'd be 2/1 already.

  13. Re: Ante Post Jumps Thread 2011-2012

Prefer not to? It didn't stop this little bit of after-eventing:rollin clipboard02jb.jpg
That's not even a "serious" bet. I can't claim I backed this and that and this at 2x 3x 4x prices, because I don't want people to follow. The prices now aren't betting proposition. Plus your theory about antepost betting will fall apart. I want you you to keep thinking antepost is tough.
  14. Re: Ante Post Jumps Thread 2011-2012

are you going to show us what you backed afterwards then mileni? is there a problem posting up once you have your price?
Wouldn't be a problem once bets are taken, but will be a bit of after-eventing. I'm already in on 20 races and the prices are long gone. For example Arkle I have Sacre, Al and Cue (saver) all at double figure prices. It will look like bragging, prefer not to :)
  15. Re: Ante Post Jumps Thread 2011-2012

Oh right - people paying for the service now then? You won't be putting any selections at all up next week then? Just if not I better get studying the form earlier than I would've done!!
Nah, no service. Just investment from few Bulgarian big hitting sods. Friends for now thankfully, but might lose them as such if it doesn't succeed :D
