Setup reacted to dylanphan in MLS Play-Off Predictions > Nov 3rd - 6th
All four home sides are pretty heavily favored as to be expected.  My initial thoughts as I generally wait till much closer to kickoff before sending in any bets
Vancouver blew a beautiful opportunity at home in the first leg to get a result.  They had to know Seattle was punch less, but they came out as under inspiring themselves, afraid to allow a road goal.  That's pretty disappointing as I think you should always play for the win.  Seattle will get two huge boosts, first their massive home crowd.  And then they should have a few players that may be available and of course Dempsey off suspension.  A bit strange they play this one 2 full days before the other games.  Anyway, I think this one should be another dull, drab affair like the pacific northwest - look to the under if anything.
I don't think Toronto is going to lose at home, barring something very dodgy.  But, being that they already have the win and two away goals in their back pocket, I'm not sure how open they will play either.  Very well would be happy with a draw and rest some guys late.  Again, another low scoring affair more than likely, but I would give a slight nod to Toronto at -135 or better simply because Giovinco such a threat on any set piece.
Other two games have much more interest to me.
The first leg of the Columbus/NYFC was a real cracker, and if you didn't watch the game, do not let the 4-1 scoreline fool you.  NY played down a man most of the 2h and blew at least 2 golden opportunities in the 1h, including a rare David villa sitter he racked off the post.  That being said, Columbus has been impressive in that they advance at Atlanta and then came home where they enjoy a nice home field crowd and just played open and free soccer against NY, netting 4.  That last one really was a big goal, because NY could have advance with a 2-0 home result, but the late late goal really puts the burden on NY to open up.  NY home field is smallish, and could clog things up a bit, but I'll be honest, I think we get a home win and at least 3 goals in this one.  NY 3-1 seems about right, so put me on the home side at -135 or better as well as a touch on the handicap as I think they win by 2.  IF you only watch one MLS game this weekend, this should be the one.
Houston also played uncharacteristically tentative at home in the first leg.  But, a few notes.  First they had a 1h pk overturned by video assistant.  That could have really turned the game.  Second Houston is without two first choice defenders in DelaGarza and Leonardo, so they couldn't open things up too much as a road goal may have spelled curtains.  They are starting Phllipe Sendeross (yes, that Sendeross) as their main CB and he's about as agile as a rocking chair. Plus he got hit with an early yellow so really had to watch himself.  The Houston defense is going to get abused in this leg and it's going to get ugly.  Portland is a fast team, and play on an artificial, slick surface at home where they really play uptempo. And while the Houston mf and forwards to like to press and play a higher tempo game, well, there are goign to be a lot of opportunities for Portland to take advantage of this if they get caught.  Honestly, Portland wins here easy, 3-0.

Will have to think about it a bit more I guess.
In the meantime, Dallas - Portland BTTS @ 1.80
Two of the strongest teams this season, both scored in every match except for one match (each). Should be a good one and I expect both teams to score.

Ok, so currently in the MLS these are the standouts re-corners.
RSL are out at top in corner counts (by a distance) having racked up 44 so far in 6 (7.3 AVG)
NY Red Bulls are 2nd on 34 in 6 (5.6 AVG)
LA Galaxy are 3rd though they've played one less, they have 33 after 5 (6.6)
There's then a bit of a gap between the next block of teams (5 corners on the count) and most teams have a game in hand over RSL and NY so that should be considered.
    At the bottom end;
Colorado only have a measly 13 corners in 4 games (AVG 3.2)
2nd from bottom on the count and possible soon to be bottom, Montreal sat on 14 from 5 (AVG 2.8)
3rd on the bottom end count is Orlando, 17 from 4 games (AVG 4.25)
Looking at the fixtures, RSL are (a) at Colorado so it could be the perfect match up to take a corner handicap on the (a) team. LA Galaxy are also up against Orlando this weekend so the if corners stay true to form there's two easy winners there.
And finally, as if it couldn't get any better, the RBs are at (h) to DC United who although are not as low as some on the corner count still have only averaged of 4.0 so far this season.
I haven't looked at odds yet but there's a start.

Hapoel Ramat Gan - Hapoel Katamon
    Hapoel Katamon +0.5 @ 1.96
Not an expert of the second leauge in Israel but this bet looks solid to me. Ramat Gan played the Israeli semi cup finals on Tuesday, losing 1-0 to Bne Yehuda from the first league and seeing their great cup journey ends without making it to the finals. So for them it will be the third match in 7 days. There are complaints over the interent by fans who say that the team should have been given more time to rest and that the game should have been postponed. Coach of Ramat Gan said: "In all fairness, the game should have taken place on Sunday, I will improvise with the players that I have". He said that because Ramat Gan will miss a few regualrs. The two centerbacks of the team are suspended, both also contributed some goals so should be a big loss. Moreover, the wingback who should have open in the center of defence to replace them, pulled a muscle and won't be able to play as well. On top of that, the team have 3 more players who are doubtful for this match.
Katamon on the hand are a solid away team and are coming fresh to this encounter. They have already lost twice to Ramat Gan this season and in my opinion it is always difficult to win an opponent 3 times in a single season. Game takes place in less than 5 hours and I believe we will see odds starting to shift sometime soon.

    Playoffs start today.
Hapoel Haifa - Hapoel Ashkelon Over 2 Goals @1.943
A match from the lower league playoff. As I said last week, Ashkelon have fighiting spirit in them and they will fight until the end although experts have determined throughout the season that they are 100% relegating. After last week's 0-0 draw against Bnei Yehuda, Ashkelon rose from the last place and have 18 points. They are 3 points away from Kfar Saba who sits one place above them. A win today (and a loss of Kfar Saba) can place them outside the relegation zone. Their main problem is not creating chances, it's scoring. They have the worst offense in the league (alongside with Ashdod), scoring only 15 goals in 26 games. But it's moneytime now. They need to score if they want to stay and that's something coach Naim has been talking about in the last couple of weeks. In both meetings between the two teams in the regular season, goals have been scored:
    Hapoel Haifa - Ashkelon 3-1
    Ashkelon - Hapoel Haifa - 3-2
So quarter of the total amount of goals Ashkelon scored this season, they score against Hapoel Haifa.
Haifa on the other hand have nothing to play for, maybe money, but they are 10 points away from relegation. Haifa will probably come to play freely and enjoy the game. After all, they are the better team on paper.

    Rosario Central vs Atletico Tucuman
Hosts come from a disappointing 2-2 draw away to Sarmiento, losing their defensive balance and conceding two goals. For this clash, their offensive momentum will be affected by the missing Marco Ruben, captain and team's main attacking reference, . The focus will be on regaining defensive balance and greater composure upfront.
The visitors appear to have their focus on next week's Copa Libertadores clash, away to Jorge Wilstermann (Bolivia), and they need a result to get off the bottom of the group table. Expect conservative play to reserve energy for the important trip to Bolivia. Under 2.5 goals
Bet lost: Rosario Centrol 2-1 Atletico Tucuman

    RSL -0.25 @ 1.73
RSL are winless so far wll come to this match with their new coach Petke on the sidelines. Vancouver had a midweek match in CCL semi finals and they failed to quilfy. RSL shoud get a win eventuelly and I think this week it will happen. Taking the handicap because it's still not certain which of the regular centerbacks will play.

    Rosario Central vs Tigre
Hosts' expectations of fighting for the title were scuttled with their poor performance in the first phase of the championship, meaning they will only seek to rebuild in this phase and expect to be more competitive next season. Coach Chacho Coudet paid the price for that poor performance and was replaced by Uruguayan Paulo Montero. They come from a morale-boosting 1-0 away win against Quilmes, a result that has further raised expectations for winning today's match because the team also has to atone for the previous 1-0 home loss to Godoy Cruz. The new coach is still discovering his best eleven; but the fans expect three points from this match.
The visitors are in an unstable situation after Coach Pedro Troglio resigned, following two consecutive defeats in the first two matches of this phase. Pepe Castro will stand in for this match but has not had much time to change things. Home win
Bet won: Rosario Central 1-0 Tigre

Don't have a clue mate, Gadzhev and Lameiras seem to have vanished and can't even make the matchday squad, no injuries either. Kyel Reid is always on the bench but strikers (Kwayme Thomas) and centre mids (Callum Reilly) are used ahead of him on the left wing. We are virtually down after the mess Slade left us in so Robins is just trying different things preparing for next season in League 2. Hopefully Slade's useless signings will be let go (Nathan Clarke, Kevin Foley, Yakubu, etc). Tuesday night against Southend was the worst home performance I have ever seen. Nothing there at all. No effort, no organisation and no creativity whatsoever. Just looks like the players are resigned to relegation and are going through the motions. Also, trying to stay fit for the Checkatrade Final at Wembley.
    My picks are:
    - QPR - Won their last 3 home games. Should dispatch a Rotherham side who haven't got an away point since October.
    - NORWICH - Could be their last chance to start a big playoff push. They have got 5 out of their remaining 9 games at home. Probably need to win all 5 plus a couple away. Norwich have got lots of goals in them.
    - SHEFF UTD - Absolutely flying. Not long before their promotion to the Championship is confirmed. Charlton have conceded 9 goals in their last 3 away games.
    - MK DONS - For the reasons above. Our players have just gave up and look like they have no interest whatsoever. A win would ease any relegation worries MK Dons might have, especially with Port Vale having 2/3 games in hand on teams. The battle to avoid the last relegation spot could be very tight.

Hi, I rarely bet nowadays because israelis are banned from betting online due to stupid local laws.
But I still follow football obviously and this bet is one of the best I remember. Odds will drop to around 1.5 that's guaranteed. I'll explain.
Hapoel Tel Aviv are in big debts and having serious financial problems. Last week They had to release their two leading foreign players because they can't pay them. The leading striker is also in dispute with the team and won't play either. I heard an interview on the radio with one of the players and he said the moral is low and that they are training with 10-12 players which is an impossible situation. In Israel it's the talk of the day. Odds should be around 1.6 to an away win and will probably get there so the current odds are just too good to refuse. Forgot to mention that the board of the league are contemplating of dedacting 9 points of Hapoel points so the future looks grim. Bookies have two days until the match to set the odds straight.
