    Burnley V Chelsea
    Burnley +1.5 AH @ 1.84 Betvictor
I feel Burnley have the attributes to make this game difficult for Chelsea. Sean Dyche's side have had a tricky start to their EPL campaign; injuries to key players and a disruptive Europa League schedule have not helped. Performances have improved in recent games with key players returning from injury and I expect Burnley to once again be a tough opponent at Turf Moor, even against the EPL's big guns.
Chelsea have had a very good start to their EPL campaign under Maurizio Sarri. Their short passing style has been both entertaining and effective. The problem for them here is that they face a team who can disrupt their rhythm with a long passing game, aiming to win second balls with superior ariel strength. Of course we should expect Chelsea to have the lion share of possession and create the lion share of chances but the markets have the away team very short here in my view.
Let's not forget that Chelsea have a Europa League game on Thursday evening and although it shouldn't be too much of an issue with the depth of squad they have, it will shorten the preparation time they have for a potentially awkward EPL away trip.
To summarise, the 5-0 drubbing at City last week may have skewed the Burnley price somewhat here. Chelsea are indeed a good team and rightly favourites but to have them shorter than 1.4 at Turf Moor comming off the back of a Europa League game seems a bit overzealous to me. This particular away trip is a potential banana skin for Chelsea in my view. ELO ratings are in line with current market valuations but other key goal metrics do not favour Chelsea to the same degree.
Burnley +1.5 AH @ 1.7 or above is worth backing in my view.

    Liverpool vs Cardiff
The break from playing teams at the very top end of the table is over quicker than it began for Cardiff as they travel to Anfield to play a rampant Liverpool in this 3pm kick-off on Saturday afternoon. Can the Bluebirds build on the thrilling win over Fulham last weekend or will the Reds send them back down to earth with a bump?
Liverpool are understandably being touted as potential title rivals to the likes of Manchester City and Chelsea. Jurgen Klopp's side are 2nd place in the Premier League table and only denied top spot due to an inferior goal difference to Pep Guardiola's City team. The Reds are undefeated this season and their only dropped points so far have come against Chelsea and Manchester City.
The impressive 4-0 win over Red Star Belgrade on Wednesday night is further proof that Klopp's men possess strength in depth far greater than they have previously boasted. Is this the year that the league title finally comes back to Liverpool? You'd be challenged to find someone who doesn't at least think they're serious contenders.
Cardiff have found life in the top flight hard upon their return. No wins in their first 8 matches came to an end with the win over fellow promoted side Fulham last Saturday. It was an attacking display that has shown sparks this season but never fully transpired into a roaring flame.
Still, no Cardiff fan is being unrealistic. It's widely appreciated that Fulham will likely be relegation candidates. It's a great win but it's just 3 points. This mammoth challenge is something else entirely. Having already given good accounts of ourselves at Stamford Bridge against Chelsea and Tottenham at Wembley we are confident that Cardiff can put in a performance here. The players won't make it easy for Klopp's team but, unfortunately, I think it's obvious we lack the quality that Liverpool have in their squad.
There isn't too much value going around in this fixture but I always prefer to preview a Cardiff game because it's where I seem to have the most success. Funny that, being a Cardiff fan. I fully appreciate how bad we are! Only joking... kind of. I have seen people saying we'll get battered by 4 or 5 goals but I actually think we might keep it tight and limit Liverpool to maybe a 2-0 or 3-0 win at the most. We may even sneak a goal ourselves. Although that could be tough against a Liverpool side that hasn't conceded at home in the league since February. We've got nothing to lose and that's when this squad thrives.

I'm going with 4 tips this week in the PL:
    Chelsea to beat Man Utd
West Ham to lose to Tottenham
    Wolves to beat Watford
    Man City to beat Burnley
I think most people wouldnt mock me for the City & Spurs tips, but maybe the Chelsea and Wolves calls are a bit more debatable. All the games though give good odds for the tips I'm suggesting, which is why I'm tipping them. At the very least hopefully the Chelsea United game will be a cracker to watch, assuming United dont park the bus!!

    hi stevie
I think the draw is a decent shout. I'm finding it hard to predict Wednesday results and have been pleasantly surprised recently. I think we have been riding our luck a little but if opponents fail to take multiple chances and are punished then it is more than just luck. The keeper dawson worries me a little as he fails to dominate his area. Recent games have been fairly entertaining but that may cease tomorrow as Pulis rolls into town. I'm not having a bet at this stage.

    Sheffield Wednesday vs Middlesbrough
Now, I'm a little nervous doing this preview with us boasting a resident Owls fan in the shape of @waynecoyne but hopefully any tips I make he can expand on below. It's Sheffield Wednesday versus Middlesbrough in the Friday night kick-off at 7:45pm from Hillsborough.
Wednesday gaffer Jos Luhukay appears to be starting something interesting at the club. A rather bland start to the season has taken an upturn in recent weeks. The Owls are now unbeaten in their last 4 league games and have only lost 1 of their last 9 Championship games. This has seen them rise to 6th in the table on 19 points after 12 games. Encouraging stuff.
Middlesbrough have stuttered lately after what had been a very positive start. Tony Pulis saw his side win 4 of their first 5 league matches to set the early pace in the Championship with Leeds. However, just 1 win in their last 4 league matches has seen them drop to 4th in the table and they're now just 3 points ahead of their opponents in this game.
My immediate feeling looking at the statistics here is that a draw looks like the best bet. Wednesday are undefeated at home but have drawn 4 of their 6 league games at Hillsborough. Middlesbrough's record on the road is almost identical having drawn 50% of their away games. It seems Wednesday struggle to break teams down on home turf and Boro know how to grind out the results away.
One interesting fact you'll want to know if you're following in-play betting for this game is that Middlesbrough haven't lost in 67 Championship where they've taken the lead. It's a run that stretches right back to 7th March, 2015 when they lost 2-1 to Nottingham Forest away. So if Boro take the lead then get on that!
It's also worth noting that Middlesbrough haven't conceded a goal in the first half since the opening day of the season against Millwall. In fact, with only 6 goals conceded this season they have conceded an average of 0.5 goals per game. It's one of the best defensive records the second tier of English football has seen at this stage of a season.
I'm tempted to back Middlesbrough for a narrow win but Wednesday are a vastly improved outfit. Luhukay is giving some of the youngsters a chance to shine and with Jordan Thorniley, Cameron Dawson, and Matt Penney getting a lot of game time it feels like the future is bright for the Owls. I'm just not sure they'll have enough to break down this Boro side.

    Doncaster vs Gillingham
First up in the previews for this section's weekend action is a game between two sides who I don't think I've ever included in my tips before. It's high-flying Doncaster versus a struggling Gillingham in a 3pm kick-off this Saturday at the Keepmoat Stadium so let's crack on with it.
Doncaster are sitting in 4th place in League One just 3 points off the automatic promotion spots. Grant McCann is having a positive influence at the club as it looks to make a return to the Championship this season. The club suffered back-to-back defeats at the start of October before a win against Rochdale away last weekend got their form back on the right road.
This season is looking like one to forget for Gillingham. Head coach Steve Lovell just about managed to keep the team in this division last season but this year looks like it could prove even tougher. The team is in 19th place just 1 point above the relegation zone and has only won 1 of its last 10 league games.
I'm expecting a tough afternoon for the Gills here. They have won just 2 of their 6 games on the road and 7 defeats in their last 10 games has seen a losing mentality set in. The draw away to Shrewsbury and the win away to Portsmouth were a pair of shock results but asking the players to perform to such a level for a third away game in a row is asking a lot.
That is particularly so because they face a Doncaster side that have lost just 1 of their 6 home matches this season and have won 5 of their last 7 league games. I'd even be tempted to back the home side to win this by a couple of goals. Gillingham's 2-0 defeat at home to Southend last weekend was demoralising. The players may well feel less pressure on the road but this Doncaster side won't be in a forgiving mood clearly buoyed by the convincing win against Rochdale.

    Burnley vs Huddersfield
The big game this weekend is undoubtedly the match-up between the top two in the Premier League Liverpool and Manchester City but we'll get to that later. One of the more fascinating clashes comes at Turf Moor where an improving Burnley take on bottom-placed Huddersfield in a 3pm kick-off this Saturday.
Burnley had started the season atrociously with just 1 draw and 4 losses from their first 5 league matches. However, their exit from the Europa League appears to have re-focused their minds. Back-to-back wins against Bournemouth and Cardiff showed that Sean Dyche has got his players performing back to their wily ways.
I can't speak for their 90 minute performance against the Cherries but against Cardiff they used every bit of their top flight nous to get the win. I'm still astonished Cardiff didn't take something from that game. I think had we played better then we might have done. However, Burnley showed they can still scrape points when they're not playing well. The past two wins have seen them fly up the table to 12th place now.
Huddersfield were tipped by many to finish in the bottom three this season. So far, those predictions appear to be spot on. David Wagner's side are in 20th place with just 2 points this season. One of those points came in a home draw with 19th placed Cardiff. The second point was an encouraging draw away to Everton.
The Terriers know they face almost an impossible mission to stay in the Premier League this season. They were fortunate to stay up last season. A poor run of form that continues from last season means Wagner's side have won just 1 of their last 17 league matches in the top flight. Their last away win coming on 24th February this year and that was against an eventually relegated West Brom. Their previous win on the road before that was back on 16th December, 2017.
If Huddersfield fans were hoping for good news from the head-to-head meetings then they can think again. In their past five meetings in league action, Burnley have won 3 and there have been two draws. The light at the end of the tunnel is that both games between these two ended 0-0 last season. So don't go expecting a goal fest this weekend. Scoring goals is generally a problem for Huddersfield this season. Just 3 goals scored in their 7 league matches makes them the least clinical side in the division.
A couple of weeks ago I wouldn't have been able to call this. Burnley have regained their mojo over the past couple of games. They were far from impressive against Cardiff last weekend but the reaction of Dyche has me feeling that he'll be demanding more from his players in front of their home fans here. A win could potentially see them rise into the top 10 which would be incredible given their start to the season. Huddersfield are in deep trouble. Things are dour at Cardiff and they're even behind us on goal difference. I can see a hard working performance from both sides but Burnley should nick this. If you want a cheeky anytime scorer bet then Chris Wood has scored 8 goals against Huddersfield over the years.

    Udinese vs Torino
Last week was disappointing with Atalanta letting us down at home to Cagliari so this week we're going in a different direction by focusing on two mid-table teams with Udinese playing Torino in a 2pm kick-off on Sunday at the Dacia Arena and the bookies are torn here.
Udinese have experienced a mixed bag of results in these opening few games this season. In what is their 24th consecutive season in Serie A, Julio Velazquez's side have perhaps performed as expected with an opening day 2-2 draw away to Parma, a tough 1-0 win at home to Sampdoria, and a narrow 1-0 loss away to Fiorentina. Par for the course really.
Torino have had a similar journey except their form appears to be improving. Former Watford head coach Walter Mazzarri has taken a pummelling from Troy Deeney in the English media this week over his management style but he's doing OK as Torino boss so far. The opening day saw an expected 1-0 loss at home to Roma, then there was a 2-2 draw away to Inter Milan, before the last round saw a 1-0 win over high-flying SPAL. Signs of a positive season.
The results of these two sides are amusingly similar. My feeling is that Torino will be coming into this game with more confidence. They have had the far tougher start to the season but their performances against Roma and Inter Milan earned them plaudits. There is a fair bit of potential in this Torino side so European qualification is certainly the aim. I think they could catch Udinese out here. I can't see Udinese finishing higher than mid-table so they'll do well to take something from this game.

Are countries going to take these games more seriously now there is a competitive competition to it? I'll be honest bit confused about the format but from what I can tell there appears to be a mini 4 team finals next summer from the group A league, which contains England and somekind of qualification for the next European Championships.

    Wales vs Republic of Ireland
The first round of the 2018/19 UEFA Nations League kicks off this Thursday evening and the obvious starting point for me as a Welshman is to cover the 7:45pm kick-off at the Cardiff City Stadium between Wales and Republic of Ireland in what is certain to be a feisty affair.
It was almost a year ago that Martin O'Neill's team came to Cardiff and got the 1-0 win they needed against a tactically naive and Gareth Bale-less Wales. The Irish getting battered by Denmark in the play-offs kind of eased the pain of not reaching the play-offs but we still wonder what might have been if we had beaten Ireland on that day. The fact we only had Bale, Ramsey, and Allen all playing for just 33% of our qualifying games was also a problem.
Still, this is a new era under Ryan Giggs. It might sound controversial but I respected what Chris Coleman did to get us to Euro 2016 but his backroom staff can take most of the credit. Coleman simply delegated well and was a fantastic man motivator. As the 2018 World Cup qualifiers showed when it came to the tactical side of the game he was left wanting. He can look back on his reign with undeniable pride but he left at the right time.
Personally, I wasn't the biggest fan of Giggs being appointed as manager. I would have preferred Craig Bellamy. Now that Giggs is the manager he has my full support. I've been impressed with how tactically aware he is. He's clearly very tactically flexible and the performances against China, Uruguay, and Mexico have been very impressive.
It's also great to see him blooding a lot of youngsters. The likes of Chris Mepham, Connor Roberts, David Brooks, Ethan Ampadu, Matthew Smith, Ben Woodburn, Harry Wilson, and Tyler Roberts have all been called up for this game. All of those players are 22 years of age or under. It's a huge statement that Giggs wants success now but he is also building the next generation of first XI players. Only Tyler Roberts remains uncapped out of those players.
I feel this is the biggest test of Giggs' tenure so far. He comes up against a wily old fox in O'Neill. Ireland bullied us and out-thought us in the previous meeting. Did they deserve to win? Purely on being more street wise, yes. It could be different this time. We have practically a full squad available.
I'll be attending the game in the Canton Stand behind the goal but I'm not expecting a thriller. Ireland will be content with a draw. They are a dogged side under O'Neill and I'm really reluctant to say they are anti-football but they do like the kill games and get physical. Harry Arter and James McClean were a pain last time we played them and the absent Declan Rice will be a big loss. They still have enough experience to grind out a result.
If I'm being unusually optimistic, I'd like to think we should be looking to win this game. I'm worried that Ireland will beat us in the physicality stakes and that could be a problem. However, we have a wealth of exciting attacking prospects and the early days suggest Giggs knows how to get the best out of them. I'm quietly hoping we can destroy Ireland here but in the reality I think a single goal will decide it. I'm just not sure which way it'll go. You can't go wrong with backing Bale to score for Wales though. Especially in his current club form.

    Atalanta vs Cagliari
A lot of the main media attention will focus on tonight's epic clash between AC Milan and Roma at the San Siro but my focus turns to the less high-profile match between Europa League failures Atalanta and the understated Cagliari in their 7:30pm kick-off this Sunday at the Stadio Atleti Azzurri d'Italia.
Atalanta will be licking their wounds after being unceremoniously dumped out of the Europa League on Thursday night. The Italian side lost 4-3 on penalties to Danish club FC Copenhagen after a 0-0 draw on aggregate. Sounds like a riveting tie! How will Gian Piero Gasperini's side react to such a disappointment? Will they feel sorry for themselves and get caught out? Or will they be a wounded animal and bite back?
Cagliari are probably a good side for Gasperini's men to play after such a failure. Rolando Maran's team have lost one and drawn one of their two league matches so far. It's not exactly been inspirational stuff. A 2-2 draw at home to Sassuolo showed promise but that has been contrasted by the 2-0 loss away to Empoli.
We backed Atalanta to do the business already this season. Even though Gasperini unexpectedly played a weakened side they still prevailed victorious. I think they will be out for some kind of retribution against the football Gods here. A solid win should be on the cards and exiting the Europa League this early could well be a blessing in disguise as they look to go one better this season and break into the Champions League spots.

    01/09/2018 Chelsea v Bournemouth - Chelsea to win @ 1.3
    01/09/2018 Everton v Huddersfield - Everton to win @ 1.57
    01/09/2018 Man City v Newcastle - Man City to win @ 1.13
    02/09/2018 Cardiff v Arsenal - Cardiff to win @ 6.5
    02/09/2018 Burnley v Man Utd - Man Utd to win @ 1.67
    02/09/2018 Watford v Tottenham - Tottenham to win @ 1.73
I probably only need to explain one of these ..... Man Utd to win, I know it's unprecedented!
Hahah just kidding, it's Cardiff to beat Arsenal - a massive call - so why?
Well it's early days so any match is hard to call. Arsenal are on 3 points and Cardiff 2, suggesting a close game. However Arsenal have played Chelsea and Man City so it may not be as close as first appearance suggests. So given Arsenal's potential to be crap and odds of 6.5 for them to lose it's worth a small wager for bragging rights if they do find a way to trip up.
Ok maybe the Manchester United prediction does need an explanation....It's not them, its Burnley..They are shit. Lost to Fulham, lost to Watford, Out of Europe and probably knackered. United will get the 3 points ssimply if they manage to get on the pitch without drowning in their own pity and tears.

    Dijon to beat Caen
It's always hard to tip at the start of the season, but so far Dijon have won 2 from their last 2 and Caen have only managed 2 draws. The bookies are a bit unsure so are offering odds of 2 for a Dijon win. This is a bargain as far as I can tell. Worth a punt. Plus they make a good mustard.

i'm not too sure about liverpool conceding. they played 3 league games and kept clean sheets. liverpool are better defensively and i are playing smarter this season. i'm pretty sure they will keep it tight. the only way i see this match being over is is liverpool go a goal behind and have to chase the game but i don't see it though.
two upsets i see this weekend is huddersfield to beat everton probably and cardiff to beat arsenal. everton are far too open at the back and arsenal likewise have still got defensive vulnerabilities
i see 4 or 5 goals in chelsea match. bournemouth in these sort of games has got nothing to lose and always has a go so i am convinced they will score one or two but no doubt about who is going to win. chelsea dominate games but will their high defensive line and erotic pressing will cost them one or two goals at the back
west ham are huge risk to take. they simply have to win this match but can they stay solid defensively and keep wolves at bay. i am not sure but i don't want the in my accumulators.
southampton seem really clueless how to get a result. i can't fault them for trying and and making chances but they just can't put them away. that going to be their main problem. i thought they were finally going to get three points on the board against leicester last week but it showed teams can claw their way back and beat them easily. i'm on crystal palace to do the job on them.

Sunderland going well at home to Oxford who are poor away. Conversing 8 and scoring 1. Sunderland score a few and 1/2 looks a very fair price on Sunderland
Portsmouth doing well and should beat Plymouth who have had a very poor start especially away.
