MCLARKE got a reaction from Pirate53 in Pricing your own race
I have analysed my results over the last 7 years and I have more losing days than winning days (43%).
Longest losing run is 16 days, best winning run is 12 days.
I've made a profit each year which to me is the true test of whether my betting is working.

MCLARKE got a reaction from gbettle in BILLY HILLS NAP TABLE - MAY 2021
A profitable day thanks to 25/1 winner Douglas Talking, selected by @glavintobyand @Sugardaddyken.
Another winner for @waggy, making it 6 out of 6.

My eldest daughter gets married net month, it's costing a bloody fortune.

Horses drawn 1 actually have a poor record at Chester with an AE of 0.92. Draws 2 to 4 offer better value with an AE of 1.06.
This is especially good at 5 furlongs where the AE is 1.27.

Personally I would always take the best odds on offer and if they offer extra places I would bet each way.
I would also bet each way in handicaps of 16 runners or more.

Yes, it happens all the time.
In the £20 daily challenge I lost £300 in the first month, made £600 in the next year, lost £800 in the next 4 months and have then made £500 since then.
Overall I make a loss in 1 month out of 3.
I suppose you need a mentality where you don't get too disillusioned when you have a losing run and don't get too confident when you have a winning run. It's taken me many years to develop such a mentality.
You have to think for the long term, although as John Maynard Keynes said, "in the long run we are all dead !"

RESULTS UPDATE
At least Showalong won for me today. Immelmann ran well to be second too. This meant a small profit of £13.58 on the day. My new balance is now £923.40 (Bank £1,056.22)
Haven't had time to list overnight prices tonight for tomorrow's meetings as I have been making beef burgers this evening. Whilst I can look back on Oddschecker for individual runners I can't get the whole picture without a lot of work. Have to see how I go tomorrow

Chester is one of those tracks I have always struggled at for winners ...
Ratings plus bonuses .5 for previous course wins and .5 for low draw (1 to 5). I get the same top 2, over a point clear with and without the bonuses
1345
Makanah 8.8 = 11/2 my book
Jabbarockie 7.9 = 6/1 my book
Like that both travelled strongly in last races as its difficult to come from the back at Chester.
1pt win each (obv not as rich as @richard-westwood!)
With my standard hit and hope I'd probably be on Copper Night due to draw, course form and handicap mark.

MCLARKE got a reaction from Wildgarden in £20 Daily Challenge - All Welcome
Won at 9/4. Monthly profit £78.67.
Finally back in overall profit after a very poor run during the winter (although I did lose my discipline for a while and started dabbling in doubles).
