  1. I understand the logic of what you are saying. However the fact remains that collectively we are putting in £36k and taking out £47k so it must be good value.

I must admit I don't understand the tote system that well. I think the benefit is that you can do lots of perms for stakes as low as 1p so in theory you can win the jackpot from one of your 1p perms, I think.

Perhaps @PlacepotterMan can correct me if I'm wrong.

I've had 72 perms today and got off to a good start with Chantry House but my 3 selections in the 2nd lost.

Interestingly there are 80 tickets remaining going in to the 2.30 and only 5.6 are on the favourite Min. There are 17.7 on Melon.

So perhaps there may be some benefit of backing favourites.

I think there may be some mileage in this, I'll do a bit more research and analysis.

  2. The placepot is a bit of a fun bet but with a 27% deduction I don't think it can be considered as a serious bet.

The jackpot may be a different proposition when there is a rollover.

The rollover yesterday was £29,353. The rollover today is £64,872. Therefore the money added to the pool today was £35,519. The potential winnings today after the 27% deduction is £47,357, a margin of 33%.

If a similar amount is added tomorrow then the potential winnings is £73,285, a margin of 106%.

This seems an excellent bet and so much better value than the placepot, which I assume is very rarely rolled over.

  3. No. I was hoping someone on here might know. Perhaps you just have to log on to the Tote and have a look there.

I've had a look today and I think there is a carry-over of £39k. It only got to race 3 today, there were 89 tickets going on to race 4 but none of them were on Black Tears.

I'm sure the next race would have scuppered it anyway with the winner being 80/1.

I must admit I would have thought the pool would have been bigger than £39k.

I might have a bash tomorrow. It will be interesting to see what the pool size is.
