Even tough my prediction won, I was really not impressed by EVerton. They really showed very little and were dominated by 10 men. How are they not able to pass the ball around ? These are professionals, and the only plan they had was to hoof it down the flanks and hope for the best !

I expected more craft and skill from them...

The biggest worry for City is their keeper, neither Ederson nor Bravo inspires confidence. If you wanna win the Premier League you have to have a strong keeper!!!
Maybe one of these two will improve, maybe they will sign someone else but at the momment it's a serious problem.

I've no idea what the UEFA fair financial play rules actually do, but I think it's time for a cap on spending and a cap on salaries too.
Currently you have actual countries against businessmen who are very wealthy but cannot compete, which is crazy!
All that's going to happen if nothing is done, is that barring a freak season like Leicester had, it will be the same teams in top 4 for generations.
    Neymar £200m, Siggurdsson £45m - I mean wtf!  It's out of control...

The whole thing needs looking at to revitalise football and give hope to smaller teams. NFL and AFL have caps and it works, so it's time for football to have the same.

    Man CIty v Everton
Monday night football opens with a bang. A huge fixture, but where is the bet value and the smart money going ?

City look impressive. They have quality in abundance. The bench looks ridiculously strong. However, the bottom line is that you can only put 11 players on the field at once.

Man for man Everton don't match up badly. They need to start believing that they belong with the big boys. Ditch their inferiority complex, play well and hold your own.

You gain respect and you develop your own inner identity and confidence. Rooney was brought in to guide, help confidence, and change the mindset.

Everton have to keep the game tight and be patient. An open game will not help their cause ! They have a more than decent squad, and mentally, they now have to step up and believe. Excellent signings and players have a real opportunity to shine. Do you step up or fold ? What an opportunity, that Ross Barkley must be cursing on missing and not being part of.

Keep the game tight and compact, frustrate City and then see what happens. They need to pile forward on free kicks and set pieces. These will be the best opportunities for goals.

    Away Double chance (Win/draw) - Odds 3.6

I love the banter on here, really Brighton's up the day!
Sure the Palace fans are being as fickle as most other supporters would be after a result like that. They are no different to any others are they? But, yes you are right to hold off for a little while, until things settle down.  Going to lay off backing results myself, having a dabble on goals at the mo.
Just had to take my 1 opportunity to have a little gloat! I'm sure it won't be happening after next weekend.
Thanks for the sportsmanship, there are some good footballing folk on here that we can share a laugh with.

We were hanging on a little bit in the first 10 - 15 minutes but once we found our feet we dominated the match. I felt we weren't clinical enough to finish them off in the second half and allowed them a second goal to make it a nervy last 10 minutes but we saw it out with ease. It's been a superb start to the season so far. There's a real feeling of something a bit special happening at Easter Road at the moment.

I am going for a treble this weekend.
    Hull
    Middlesborough
    Crystal Palace
Hull didn't get the start they wanted and play a Burton team that will struggle and also had a tough away trip to Oldham midweek. Hull have to much quality on the pitch and at home.
Middlesborough very similar reasons, need to get the season underway and quality on the pitch and at home. Brentford were the only team that let me down last week, they got beat by Sheffield Utd but Brentford had 5-1 shots on target and the result didn't tell the story. Midds win.
Crystal Palace always a hard ground to go to with passionate support. A lot of attacking talent and will be to much for the new boys .
4-1 Treble good enough for me.
    Good Luck All.

Didnt see the game. But looks like another crazy one. What fantastic start of the league!
I was content with getting my monet back at 2-3, still felt like a value bet. But that late equaliser made the day

And where are our Nantes fan?
It would be nice to have their feedback on Ranieri and their team... Seems to be that they're a bit short to compete for a place in the top 6 of the french league... Didn't saw any recruits or so... IMO, no the best plan to put all your money on the coach...
St Etienne is also a big question mark... new coach, a spanish one, apparently talented and who want to implement a "Barca style identity"... Not the first one, and without some key players, it will be tough... But Hamouma and Beric might shine more this year...!
In the end, i think the best surprise will come from Lille, not a good news for Monaco, Lyon and Marseille aiming the top 5.
Finally, Bordeaux, for me the most disappointing french team.. Huge and beautiful city, superb stadium, good fan base, but no ambition at all... A bit sad...
Anyway, i think beside PSG, it's very open this year, and we'll have a great season, now that most of the stadium are now renovated and modern, and that there is now much more money in the french league, and as always, many many talented young players... This league has improved so much these past years, with all these new investors, new foreign coachs... For me the most interesting league to follow after the BPL...
But still.. It will be tough to catch the italian league at the UEFA ranking... it will take time, and the new version of the UEFA champions league is coming next year.. and with a Juventus that strong, and Nice probably out soon (they play Napoli in 5 days) it might not be easy for the french league to win a rank among the 5 top european leagues... Bad timing to get the 4th seat for the UCL.
Now if Monaco and PSG can perform well in UCL, who knows! I see both reaching quarter at least, and semi for PSG, Let's hope...!

    Hibs are overpriced tomorrow.
Rangers have started the season well but you'd think they were Real Madrid the way the media up here is going on. I watched their game v Motherwell last week and they look very decent going forward but look weak at the back, Motherwell were a little unfortunate not to get something from the game, they missed a couple of decent chances and also had a stonewall penalty turned down (as usual when you play the rangers).
Hibs are a far far better team than Motherwell, strong all over the park and if we can weather the early onslaught and start imposing ourselves on the game, we can score a couple of goals here. I would be very disappointed with a defeat, in fact I would be disappointed with a draw.
I'll be having a little tickle on Hibs -1 at 11.00. Because why not?
Hibs win at 5.00 is the very definition of a value bet.
My bet of the day is Hibs +1 at 2.05. Has Christmas come early? We're not losing this.

Hey Guys! Glad to be back for the new season...  And I hope to keep up with my good results on the top 5 leagues last year! And i hope to see some of you guys on the Acca thread, we had some fun last year (Notorious are you in the neighborhood?).

So to recap this first week end of Ligue 1, a lot has been going on lately... Bielsa at Lille, who spent a decent amount of money during the mercato, lot of young talented players, and obvisouly, Lille is gonna perform very well under Bielsa. I've seen them played in pre-season and the first match against Nantes, they're impressive, you can clearly see the "Bielsa style".
Marseille improved a bit, I hope they'll make a good start, they'll be definitely more competitive than the previous season. And Lyon also (even if they've lost Lacazette and Tolisso to Arsenal and Bayern, i still think they're stronger this year), Lyon is regular, always performing, i'm just not a big fan of their coach. But this team is gonna be hard to play against, in Ligue 1 and Europa League...
I really think these two clubs can perform well in the europa league, Lyon did reach semis last year, quarter two years ago, losing poorly against a weak Ajax and missing a nice finale against United... Hope they'll do better this year...

Of course Monaco, even without Bakayoko, Silva and Mendy and maybe MBappé will still be a serious team to consider, and i really think they'll finish the league in the 2nd place behind PSG... Falcao is still here, Tielmans showed great potential, their defense and midfield is still very strong... I really hope they'll keep Mbappé this year...
Lille, Marseille or Lyon for the 3rd place, and of course, Nice, Nantes and St Etienne could also do something...
And finally, my favorite to win the league and also the champions league, PSG (ya I know, no objectivity whatsoever). With Neymar, and a very strong team, Pastore and Verratti finally out of injuries for good i hope, Draxler at the top, Daniel Alves the best right back in the world by far, and a new Di Maria, i see them winning Ligue 1, and at least reach the semis in the champions league... Last year 6-1 was a huge accident, something out of time and space, all of that while being much better than Barca... It won't happen again... In the contrary, this horrible memory will be useful, and i think they'll be unbeatable this year..!
We'll have to wait a bit to see the trends for this league... But it's so nice to start a new season, finally!

ps: there is a second parisian club in ligue 2 now, kinda nice, hope they'll reach Ligue 1 pretty soon, would be nice to have 2 clubs in Paris...!
Good luck guys! Nice to be back!

I think it's fair to say that Southampton are a bit short @ 1.7, no value at all from my perspective.
On the other hand, saying that Swansea should be valued @ 1.54 for this game, I mean, seriously?

Sigurdsson was such a huge part of their campaign last year. I think his inevitable departure has got the bookies rattled. Personally, I think if Sigurdsson leaves then Swansea have to re-invest the money wisely. If they don't then I think they will go down. The Premier League is very competitive and all three teams coming up stand a great chance of staying up. I think Brighton and Huddersfield in particular could surprise a few people.

I've been sitting all morning going over the fixtures in England and i'm almost coming up with the same picks as you @Kenton Schweppes
Brentford, Cardiff, Bury and Mansfield are the ones that are jumping out at me. 4 fold pays a tidy 38.00.  Double chance 4 fold pays 3.58.

    Woohoo. Fitba's back
Hibs can start the season off with a win against Partick Thisle. We've done some fantastic business over the summer and have strengthened an already strong squad. Pre season has went very well with goals being scored from a number of different players, combined with a very strong defence and a real depth to the squad, the optimism from the fans for the season ahead is higher than I have ever known. I was hoping for slightly better odds but Hibs at 1.83 is just enough for me to get involved.
Hearts continue to be an absolute shambles of a club and you have to think Celtic will take care of them without much fuss in the early kick off today. Celtic -1 at 1.54 looks like printing money.
