  1. Having never been before  I had a great day yesterday. The atmosphere and racing really is top quality. Having known since last Oct/Nov I was going on the Friday I did something I have never really done before and went heavy on the Antepost. Doing research and watching podcasts and trying to find some value which is near impossible. You end up taking risks which either give you big rewards or no run for your money. I did a fair few singles or 10p E/W Lucky 15’s mainly with Bet365. Maybe 1 a week or so (one less pint to drink or 3 instead of a Guinness at Cheltenham) It’s so difficult because you have the Irish big owners and trainers and you are guessing where they are going to turn up.

I lost a couple on the way RIP Three Strip Life and Eric Bloodaxe. I picked the wrong races for Innthepocket, Jazzy Matty and Ramires to name a few. I got chinned with Gerri Columbe. Anyway the aim was to roll up for the Friday when I was going to be there. Did not place a bet at the course other than trying a few forecasts for fun.

Anyway Tuesday and Wednesday were not great days with only places to count, but it all turned around with Good Boy Jonny at  33’s and Stage Star at 20’s rolling into Friday where to Start I had Lossiemouth at 10’s and Gala at 20’s, I managed to get Favoir at 66’s with Paddy Power and 33’s with Bet 365 and rolled in with Stay Away Fay which I had antepost 25/1 and took 20’s Thursday night with 365. That was put up on a Megan Nicholls you tube when Nicholls assistant trainer was on.

Best Lucky 15 I had was 4 placed horses Gaelic Warrior, Gala Marceau, Salvador Ziggy and Conflated, had 3 come in with 2 winners and a place. All in all a great day to remember and to watch Galopin Des Champs was marvellous. The best 2 rides of the week were to me both by Harry Cobden with Stage Star and Stay away Faye, to beat the Irish in those 2 races from the front  was an amazing feet.

Roll on to Aintree and then the build up to Cheltenham 2024. I think I maybe hooked to go again.

  2. Today’s 4 to scratch off your win lists after yesterday’s effort

2.50 Sa Fureur 7 places 11/1 ( Not sure how the Irish hurdlers seem so far in front but …)

4.10 Gin on Lime 4 places 14/1 (last selection couldn’t find another at a price)

4.50 Global Citizen 12/1 6 places (Appears in good form, Ben Pauling having a good year hopefully runs well, hopeful rain comes for him also.)

5.30 Western Diego 11/1 5 places (won on soft surely anything could win. How can one trainer run 10!) ( I would want 4 places on his alone)

  3. At home for the racing all week, actually going on Friday, so Lucky 15 to hopefully get some money back.

1.30 Dark Raven 28/1  4 places at B365 (hopefully softer going will be a plus won’t be far away from Inthepocket which was my choice for the Bally)

2.50 Nassalam 9/1 6 places (Soft ground going for the step up to bring improvement, some Cheltenham form)

4.50 Risk Belle 12/1 6 places (Lottery I think something will be well in somewhere question of finding it, run in high company)

5.30 Tenzing 9/1 in the last race again soft going and distance get see the fav being beat but got to try

  4. Quiet day small Lucky15 for interest at Sandown

13.50 Off to a Flyer 16/1. 6 places. (Behind The Carpenter last race and 3rd to a couple of good ones previous)

14.25 Punctuation 18/1. 6 places. (4th in a good Cheltenham handicap form looks promising)

16.10 Make me a Believer 15/2  4 places (2 nd race after long lay off plenty of time to hopefully avoid a bounce)

16.45 Iconic Muddle  13/2  4 places ( form looks good but on the drift which for a G Moore horse is a bit of a worry)

Dandy Dan - I was really impressed with his victory at hunter chase night at Cheltenham in April when he beat the very useful Caryto Des Brosses in good style. He was then 3rd at Stratford behind Vaucelet where I think it was a combination of his jockey not knowing the course and that a stronger test of stamina was needed, meant he didn't finish closer to the winner. He would appear to not want soft ground, but he could be a player on good ground given what he did in April.

Darren any news on this horse, you mentioned looks like needs good ground and with the weather we have been getting might be, but seen no mention or entries for him this season unless point to point which I have no knowledge of?
