  3. Lingfield 1250 SHE'S A MIRAGE each way First run for David Evans today. Directly weighted under the favourite and drawn alongside that runner too. So if the odds on favourite does not go through with his winning effort due to the penalty she's a mirage is potentially in the prime position to benefit. Trainer certainly knows how to exploit that aspect of physics. The form is also interesting as this runner drawn in stall 6, although still a maiden has never run in this class before. * Travelling companion Dr Mozart is now a non runner, so this is yard's only runner. Placed just once, but that once was third at Bath to Lezoo. Also raced against remarkable force and Dramatised so has always kept good company. Has all the hallmarks of a David Evans plot horse and if not today it won't be long before this one is winning. On final run Hannon took care to introduce this one on the all weather and the jockey duly took the scenic route around the chelmsford track getting a good run into the horse without raising any eyebrows.

  4. I am changing tactics. I will view with suspicion any selection of Spotlight and Timeform + ATR from now on, especially when the RP and Timeform club together to recommend a selection. Further, I will most likely choose a selection where the markets go for one and the RP and ATR slag them off 1150 Lin La Rav 13/2 1.25 Lin Total Commitment 4/1 (1pt win at 5.1) 1 x 1 pt ew double = poss return of 41.64 Singles and savers 11.50 Granary Queen @The Brigadier's selection despite RP & TF 1 pt win 4.2 1.25 Lin Emperor Spirit 1 pt win at 3.5 = 5 pts stakes --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Granary Queen left with too much to do again; perhaps they should change the jockey nets time. I'll have another 1 pt on Total Commitment in the 1.25 at 5.1 = 6 pts now staked ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Sod's law Grrrr. RP/SL and TF selection beats my horse by a head I'll try a 1 pt win on @Zilzalianselection Master Of Chant at 8 and an insurance bet of 1 pt on @richard-westwoodselection Perdika at 2.30 Also will place 1 pt ew on Rainbow Dreamer in the 8.00 at Kempton at 10/1. This is @The Brigadier's selection for the race. May as well back an outsider if all the horses are so closely rated ? = 10 points staked today ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ I think I was a little unlucky with Total Commitment being beaten a head by would you believe the RP & Timeform selection on a day when I announced that I would be viewing these and the Big 3 selections with scepticism. Tyger Bay drifted from 3/1 to 15/2 but won anyway. Good luck to his backers they thoroughly deserve their winnings. Just one insurance winner (should have done a forecast; isn't hindsight wonderful; great run from Master OF Chant) and a place winner. needed Tom Marquand on Rainbow Dreamer, haha. All this created a loss of -4.71 = MTD loss of -20.80 & YTD of -284.12 Inspections at Newcastle and Warwick later plus this cold snap could decimate a lot of racing so I'll wait and see what's on offer before doing any work on it all

  7. Hi Guys, I'm so sorry about the delay with this. I'm currently on holiday, I fully intended to have it sorted before we went and if not thought I'd find time whilst away, but have failed on both counts. I'll be back home this weekend. I'm sure there is nothing at all interesting happening on Saturday to sidetrack me (other than a pile of washing) so should be sorted then. Thanks for bearing with me.

  8. Slough v Concord A change of manager at Slough led to a win in the FA Trophy win, but back in the league and it has been two defeats. They not surprisingly lost to Ebbsfleet on Saturday, but more worrying has to be the 5-1 loss to Eastbourne the week before. It is just 2 points for them in their last 10 games now and they are really struggling. Concord have also changed their manager and as I highlighted a few weeks ago they have improved for the manager switch. Their only defeat in the last 6 league games was against Dartford and they have won 4 of those 6 games. Quite why they are as big a price as they are for this I don't know as they are in much better shape than their hosts right now and they are cracking value. Welling v Farnborough Welling started off very well and the ante-post bet on them was looking a fair shout, but their form has fallen off the edge of a cliff as they have won just once in 10 games. They have drawn 3 of their last 5 which isn't bad, but they are suffering a bit with injuries at the moment. I'm happy to back Farnborough again here as they were a bit unlucky not to win for us on Saturday. Their good form continues though so I think they can get back to winning ways here. Kidderminster v Chester For the first time since Setanta showed the play-offs back in 2007 we have a live National League North game on TV to look forward to. With a blank day in the World Cup BT are showing this game on Wednesday night and on Sunday lunchtime they are showing the National League South game between Braintree and Dulwich. It is handy they have chosen this game because I really fancy Chester. Quite how the bookies have come up with the prices they have for this game I don't know. The home sides only win in their last 7 games was a lucky one against bottom side AFC Telford. I mentioned when I backed Gloucester against them that they weren't playing well and they duly lost that game. On Friday night they only drew 1-1 against an Alfreton side who had gone down to ten men and had to put the reserve keeper in goal after their first choice got injured. They now host a Chester game who have won 7 and drawn 3 of their last 10 league games. They have scored 21 goals in that time, scored in every game and conceded just 7, 4 of which came in the 3 draws. As that shows they are in cracking form at the moment and their price is crazy as I would nearly make them favourites. At the price they are for me they are a max bet. Concord 2pts @ 5/2 with Betfair and Paddy Power (take up to 7/4) Farnborough 1pt @ 17/10 with Paddy Power, Betfair and Coral (take up to 11/8) Chester 5pts @ 11/4 with Bet365, Betfred and Skybet (Coral are 3/1 and take up to 6/4)

  10. KEMPTON 5.30 PERDIKA Gets my vote to land the four timer on handicap debut. Form franked by abbey's dream in the previous race who set a mild pace but otherwise had every chance. Very light treated on ratings and races off lower weight than in previous runs in stakes races. Going to go off a better price than expected as well.

  11. Haha, you are right of course. However, @The Brigadierput up Rainbow Dreamer at 5/1 so I figured that since there is little between the runners according to @richard-westwoodthen if I back my selection ew at 10/1 then I stand a good as chance as any of getting some sort of return. Your horse is rock solid in the market and I sincerely wish you all the best with that one The Brigadier 8pm Kempton Rainbow Dreamer 5/1 A cracking two mile class 2 handicap with £41k of prize money up for grabs. There’s many interlinked form lines from recent races here and it’s Alan King’s nine year old who maybe able to see them all off if repeating his latest course and distance victory. That came three weeks ago when he saw off four of today’s rivals. A 3lb rise may not stop him being competitive again at a track where he thrives at having won 5 of his 6 starts here. Rossa Ryan rode the veteran for the first time last time and retains the partnership tonight. 8:00

  12. Quick review of the antepost selections ahead of the quarter finals. Neymar top goalscorer at 12/1 with Lads - just using up a free bet. You'd get better odds now. - might have still been a runner if he'd not had to sit out a couple of group games. Raphina top goalscorer e/w at 80/1 with Lads - saw him tipped at 40/1 so was happy to take double those odds (66/1 with a boost applied) - no regrets given the odds and stake risked but he's underwhelmed compared to Brazil's other attacking players. >2.5 hat tricks scored at 10/1 with Betway - posted with rationale yesterday. As well as PP going evens for the same bet Hills are now up at 10/11. - Still happy that the odds were value but looks like I'll be glad of the limited stake allowed with yesterday seeing the first one finally arrive. I'd say that's a bit unlucky given there have been 15 braces scored. I'd take the same odds for a future tournament, all things being equal. >2.5 matches to go to penalties at 13/10 with Uni Bet - added this today. Landed in 4 of the last 6 World Cups (since it expanded to current format) and both of the last 2 Euros. - Just need one more from the remaining 8 games. No reason to question the logic of this bet. 4-5 matches to go to penalties at 11/2 with Sky Bet and 6/1 Lads - Added the top up at 6s today. Landed in 3 of the last 6 World Cups and the last 2 Euros - 2 or 3 more needed to land this one so as per the above. 6+ matches to go to penalties at 28/1 with Sky Bet and 35/1 Lads - Again, topped up today. More of a cover bet for the 4-5 bet but still, I think, more likely than the odds imply. - Covers the above bet in the event of 4 or more from the remaining games, happy with that. 8+ own goals scored at 12/5 with 365 and 13/5 with Lads - Covered in a post above. I've seen 8/13 for <8.5 today so there's definitely value to be had one way or the other. - Only 3 so far so looking unlikely. Might have been unlucky to go so many games with no own goals but maybe this is just more random and less quantifiable than I thought. 2-3 goals scored in extra time at 21/10 with Lads - Saw this today. Always the risk of going "bust" on a mid-band bet but I just think the price is too big. Landed in 4 of the last 6 World Cups. Went under once when none scored and went over with an 8 when a couple of games had 3 goals in extra time. Small stake as I'd rather be on it than wrong than swerve it and be right! - None so far after 2 ET games but I'd say the logic still seems about right; not going to regret a small bet on this one, win or lose. 4/7 in a couple of places for >3.5 games going to extra time still seems like a great bet (landed in all of the last 6 World Cups). If you want bigger odds then there's 23/20 available for 4-5 matches (landed in 4 out of 6) and 7/2 for 6+ (landed in the other 2) but I can't get away from the fact that dutching those two prices gives you less than the 4/7 for >3.5! In the absence of a sudden burst of decisiveness I may just settle with the penalties bets listed above and bet on the draw on a game by game basis, which tends to prove profitable. Been backing the draw on a game by game basis and will press on with that from here on in. Even with only 2 from 8 so far the level stakes return is only just short of break even. The Uruguay outright interest obviously could've gone better. I'm inclined to think you might as well pick most of your antepost interest bets out at random! With so few games the part played by luck should never be underestimated. I did think of tracking (not putting money on) the "upset index" for this World Cup and you'd have made a profit backing the underdogs to win in every group game given how it all panned out.

I do get quite a,few races like this but not quite so bad as this one lol ?....and I just scrub them and look elsewhere .....just no point betting for the sake of it in a bad race imo ....even if sometimes I really fancy a bet unless there's a definate edge in the numbers in yiur favour then your blindly rolling the dice ?...fastest route to the poorhouse ?

  18. Apologies for keeping you on tenterhooks regarding the final standings. On hols and still got the usual PokerStars Home Games access problems (although it did eventually let me in to play last week). Redownloading at the moment so will get new league set up shortly. Well done to Jason whose last leg win is enough to also get him onto the league podium with a win and a second place in the month. Elliott's 3rd place finish also lifts him onto the podium after an earlier leg win, but this month's champion is Dan with a win and 2 fourth placings in the month. Less than 10 points between the top 3 with just a small gap then separating them from the next two. Well done to this month's winners I'll sort the payments out when I'm back home at the weekend. Incidentally, the last batch of payments should have arrived with those winners now, let me know if any are still missing. The £150 added by PL is shared between the top 3 in the league at the end of the month. Games start at 8.10pm, with a 20min late registration period on top of this. All games are played in the PokerStars Home Games PL Poker Club. The format is a NLHE 3000 chip tourney in Legs 1 & 2 and a 5000 chip NLHE for final leg. Leg 3 is our PLO Leg with 5000 chips. > Leg 1 : Wednesday 7th December at 20.10 GMT in the PL Poker Club Home Game - NLHE 3000 chips > Leg 2 : Wednesday 14th December - NLHE 3000 chips > Leg 3 : Wednesday 21st December - PLO 5000 chips > Leg 4 : Wednesday 28th December - NLHE 5000 chips - (double entrants in points formula)** Buy in is $5.50 per leg. Your top 3 scores of the 4 legs will count towards your league total. We will be using the usual PL poker league format, which will be updated in this thread. (The PokerStars own league scores will not be used.) Formula is -Log(position/Entrants)x100 To help boost numbers overall and in particular in the final leg we are continuing the system of doubling the number of entries used in the calculation in leg 4 (**so if 10 entries the formula will use 20 entrants). This will increase the number of points available in the final leg to make it more competitive. All members are welcome, however you must post in this thread if asked to let us know your forum username, otherwise your placings and scores cannot be included in the league. New players are always welcome to join in, so please spread the word and invite your friends to the forum so we can keep the weekly numbers up. £150 Added Value The £150 added will be split between the top 3 players of the league end, with £75 to the league champion, £45 to 2nd and £30 to 3rd. 22. Octavius Sabini 3:40 Taunton (28/1). Not shown much in 3 runs, but well bred and might improve for first run in a handicap. Bet365 have him twice the price as anywhere else so I've had a silly fiver on just in case. Wouldn't have to be that good to get involved here off 74 and with a 5lb claimer. Went well for a while (was fav in running briefly) but stopped quickly.

  23. 2 losers and 2 NRs. A quick question, with the 2 NRs I was expecting £1.20 back from my investment of £1.50 as only the double and 2 singles were still valid. It's not a big deal but is my logic wrong somewhere (I don't make these type of bets very often).

  24. great race this 8:00 at kempton. not sure why bandonelli is fave but appleby and buick are what they are. withhold once a nothumbaland plate winner and highly fancied for the melbourne cup until it got injured and not been at its best since is intriguing seemed to have a lot left last time out but imperium ought to be fav. with a couple of outsiders to note namely juan bermudez and the johnson gg temporize. the king horse hasnt won before with this many runners but is quite solid and had a few of these behind last time. heather main has island brave running again and also could pinch it. like i said a great race this.

  27. Have to endorse Darran's comments about Kidderminster, although Chester were reportedly very poor in squeaking a 1-0 against Blyth Spartans at the weekend. Nothing certain - but there are local rumours that Kiddie have been hit with a bug this week, so there could be one or two extra players missing this evening as well as striker Ethan Freemantle. Chester's Kurt Willoughby has scored in 6 of his last 7 league games. Have bought his player goal rush at 8 with Sporting Index. [Wouldn't surprise me if Harriers old boy Declan Weekes scores - he's very decent from free kicks and shots outside the box].

  41. I’m being more selective with my bets from now on . Leave most of the midweek stuff unless it’s a decent class 3 or higher. Going to also narrow it down on Saturdays to a max of 4 races. 4 selections and also bang them in a lucky 15 or Yankee depending on the odds .

  42. Worthing, who are now 5th in the table after their 5-1 thrashing of 2nd place Havant on Saturday, have lost only once in their last 9 games, have to be value at a best price of 5.0 (more widely 4.75) to beat Ebbsfleet, who have lost 2 their last 3 league games, and won't be relishing the prospect of a Tuesday evening visit to Worthing. I will be returning to the Eastbourne well for their trip to Tonbridge tonight, I saw they were available at a touch under 3.0 yesterday and I'm kicking myself for not getting on then, but still see value in the 2.3 currently on offer. With 6 wins & a draw from their last 7 matches with Hutchinson & Remy on fire, against a Tonbridge side who have been blowing hot & cold & still have important players out injured. I'm expecting an Eastbourne win.
