  1. 2.45 Nott. Not much to go on. The horses that have raced we are told have shown nothing of great strength. Alaskan Point was available at 7/2 last night and is now showing at the best price of 9/4. Hence, it would appear that of the raced horses this is the one expected to do best. Fox Island is clear top-rated with RPRP and Timeform 76 and 75p respectively. I wouldn’t mind knowing whether anyone thinks that these ratings represent poor strength for a class 4, mile, 2-year-old event so as to support the opening comments. Of the un-raced horses, it looks like the market doesn’t like Mark Johnstone’s Struth. It was quoted as 7/2 last night and you can get 11/1 now. I don’t know if it matters if Mark Johnston’s horses drift in the betting. Of Richard Hannon’s runners, Fox Island looks to be the main chance. This was 3/1 last night and is now still second in the betting at 4/1. His other runner Red Fort is the outsider at 12/1. Assuming that there is no strength of depth in the runners that have already raced I am going to put a 1 pt win on The Goat at 8.4. The horse is related to a very smart miler Sloan Avenue. Andrew Balding is 10/60 with his 2-year-olds this season so this one looks to be just as a worthwhile bet as anything else. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Well, I got my answer didn’t I! Still back Mark Johnston even if his horse(s) drift in the market. The pundits were right about there not being much strength in the market for the already raced horses. 6.50 Carl Water Of Leith looks like the one they all have to beat. However, the horse is not straightforward, had to be walked to post last time. It is quite often slow away and it has a 10lbs penalty to carry this time. I had a 1 pt win on Ventura Flame at 9.4 last night when the bookies were offering at 9/2. It is now 5th in the betting 8/1 – 17/2. It is a C&D winner and has been running well. Let’s hope that it gets away from Water Of Leith. @Gary66 has napped Ginger Jam and although I can’t see why it should win I will have 0.15 pts on it at 25/1 with Bet365 7.25 Carl. This looks like a trappy event. Trumble has been off for 7 months. Detective is slow and will need to make up loads of ground and Carnival Zain is up another 7 lbs after a 7 furlongs win. I will place 1 pt to win on Under Fox at 6.6. This is a very consistent horse and is only 1lb higher than last time. Let’s hope that the visor works. Total stakes today = 3.15 points Nothing strong enough to nap today for me

  3. Just one for me today: Lingfield - 3.30 - Outside World - 10/1 Looks like a good bet, Charlie & Mark Johnston have sent the horse 200+ miles for this race and William Buick is the jockey. They had quite a few winners yesterday, again horses that had travelled quite a distance.

  7. Many thanks, Gaz. My 0.15 pts flyer on your selection gave me a 0.75 profit on the day. It pays to check out the Naps selections each day. Dare I say that this is freely available published information? ?

  8. You have to be aware of the tissue in relation to 2yolds, that is the starting point for the bookies early pricings, its what they "expect" the market to be and if you analyse the tissue it usually favours the hierarchy of trainers. That is why in my opinion it is worth ignoring. By/from around 10am the following day the indications tend to appear. I ignore those too. Your Balding angle was correct on recent numbers (i backed it at 7/1) but which horse in your comment won? Struth 13/2 so the 11/1 turned out good value (for a Johnson horse) if you ignored the "noise". You wouldn't have found that winner looking at market/bookies "expectations" it was the punters that decided that one. Your over dependance on published information which is available to everyone is probably one of your weak points. Nick Mordin often said that you have to find information/data that very few punters use in order to be a successful punter. In other words you can't win with/using the freely available data, If you could then the bookies wouldnt exist they would be bankrupt.

  9. First event of the three event end of season playoffs on the PGA Tour. Really strong field as would be expected. Fantasy Golf squad this week is mainly looking at top 20 ranked OWGR players combined with Strokes gained approach the green stats for this season and from last year's WGC event played at the same course. Prices from Bet365 as a reference: Rory McIlroy 10/1 Scottie Scheffler 14/1 Justin Thomas 18/1 Will Zalatoris 22/1 Sam Burns 30/1 Hideki Matsuyama 50/1

  10. The qualifiers for the Cazoo British Open 2022/23 get underway tomorrow. 6 days of qualifiers with the main event taking place late September. We have 8 matches a day and there are a couple I like in tomorrows action. The first bet for me is Zhang Anda to beat Stephen Hendry, on the handicap. In an ideal world I would have liked -1.5 but the -2.5 gives Hendry one frame. I think Anda wins the match and I'm not sure how much longer Hendry will keep this re-attempt at Snooker going, too. If it was purely a question of him getting back into the practice room to get to, at least the level of the likes of Dale, Doherty etc then he would be there by now after a year but if we look at pure results, he won his 3 of his first 6 matches, but only really played decent against Jimmy White, at the Worlds. In fact in his other 2 wins, just one break of 60 combined both matches. However, recently, 6 matches lost in a row for a combined frame score of 29-5. He got 2 frames against Yang and 3 against Li Hang. Funny enough, he played decent against Li Hang and I wanted to see how he would play this season. He has lost his only match against Joyce though, 5-0 and without a break of 50+. Anda for me 4-1. My next bet will be Li Hang to beat Liam Highfield. Not many of the players take the Championship League very seriously but Highfield lost all 3 of his matches and 2 of them were losing against Ben Mertens and Xu Si. He should be winning both of those matches. He then went and performed well against Mark Williams in his first real event of the season but again, he lost, in a deciding leg. It's a hard one to call his form but 4 losses from 4 now and he's playing Li Hang, who looked in decent nick. Hang has also played in the Championship League (W1, D1, L1) and that loss was also against Mark Williams. It's the break building that edges me to Hang though. Centuries in every match bar his first, and 2 centuries and a 73 in his 5-3 win over Steadman. I feel like Hang will come into this with the better form and momentum. I'll stick this bet in a 4-fold along with the previous bet, Anda, on the handicap, Hugill and Jianbo to provide an upset against Jackson Page, who went out in the 1st round of this last year and comes into this with a small lack of form. 5pts Z. Anda (-2.5 frames) to beat S. Hendry 11/10 bet365 ---------------------------------------------------- 0.5pt 4-fold - Anda (-2.5 frames) / Hang / Jianbo / Hugill 19/1 bet365

  12. Someone somewhere will have tipped most winners, Thats what i say to that. How many losers did timeform tip? you might want to read my comment again and take any positive information from it that maybe useful for you going forward instead of trying to slap me with a negative. which is probably another one of your weak points.

  14. I have to wonder about betting scandals in matches like the one I'm watching here. Jianbo 2-0 up and flying and starts missing the kind of shots a pub player could make. Its very odd. Makes you wonder. Good to see Anda do the business and win 4-1 though for the main bet.

  18. Bunch of matches today. Some at 10am, in the next half hour. 2.30 and 7pm. I think Ben Woollaston is worth following against Jak Jones. Woollaston played excellent in the Championship League and won all 3 of his matches without too much fuss. He has won the only h2h, although back in 2017. I'll also take a chance on a accy across the day. 5.5pts Woollaston to beat Jak Jones 10/11 2pts O'Connor, Mann (-2.5 frames), Woollaston & Lawler 13/1 paddypower

  31. Playing Bencic to beat Martincova at 1.34 with Pinnacle today. Bencic is classier overall, plays big events well, and Martincova is stuck a little bit, she even dropped a set against a complete unknown in the qualifying. 4-0 H2H as well. Kyrgios also appeals, he seems to have turned things around at least in the short term, and Baez doesn't have a good game on hard courts.

  32. Nick Kyrgios (-1.5 set) to beat Sebastian Baez || 1.76@Olybet! Simply cant imagine how argentine can win a single set from the aussie. The double champ of Washington will have a few days rest. And expect him to be very good. Nyshioka had zero chances to break in final. Nick is flying right now, and i bet he will be eyeing on US open trophy, this is his time. These two earlier this year in Indian Wells 6:4 6:0 match has finished. So -3.5 games also looks nice, but i am sticking with sets this time. Also you can look for better odds on -3 maybe there is better selection, my local bookie offers -3 just 1.57, so as i said -1.5 is a choice! ?

  34. Doesn't look like I'll be taking anything today. As an aside, I'm recording profit and yield in the thread title although at this stage it's pretty pointless. The current yield is in no way sustainable and I'll be more than happy if it settles at around 5%.

  35. Won but not including in the results for the thread as it wasn't posted in time. Nkunku the only winner from 6 "A" bets since the last update and 4 losing "B" bets ignoring the phantom winner. 132 winners from 403 "A" bets (32.75%) for a loss of 28.65 points. 0 winners from 8 "B" bets (0%) for a loss of 80 points. My overall record since I started backing the "B" bets is 5 winners from 21 bets for a loss of 27.85 points, just to give some context to the 0-8 record for the posted bets.

  36. Be careful with Fritz, I was listening to Sean Calvert earlier and he mentioned that Fritz has had little training time due to an injury he picked up that forced him to retire in his last match. Proceed with caution.
