To be honest I was happier before the edit to that last post, I think stopping or at least taking some proper time out would be a good idea. The staking has been creeping up to worrying levels (£1,700 on 2 golf bets where 1 shot going in the water could seriously screw you over) and no-one should put themselves in the position where they feel they “really really need” a particular bet to win. As I say, I think you should consider stopping betting or at least taking a break. Failing that, please keep the stakes in sensible bounds. I know what you say when someone raises the issue of problem gambling (in terms of being comfortably able to afford the losses) but it must still make you feel bad when you have a run of losses at larger stakes (as evidenced by the frequent “that’s it” type announcements). if you’re going to carry on betting then I feel strongly that you should consider what and how you post, bearing in mind that the way you bet would constitute a problem for a lot of people. We all have a degree of responsibility for the manner in which we post It is obviously irresponsible to ramp our bets, e.g. this can’t lose, it’s buying money, put your mortgage on it but I feel it’s in the same vein as that to be quoting massive real money stakes that swing wildly from £80 to £1000 on selections at similar prices. If you hit a few winners and someone with a gambling problem decided to follow your next large bet (or your general approach) I’d like to think that was something you wouldn’t want on your conscience. There’s also the issue of what, for the want of a better word, I’ll call vulgarity. Whilst this is a website for punters to post their bets and we know there are many people who are anti-gambling, we don’t exist in a vacuum. In the current financial climate it strikes me as distasteful to see someone chronicling their losing bets to ever-increasing stakes. That’s why I’ve always favoured points over pounds when it comes to posting bets, where your stake could be 10p, £1, £10, £100 or whatever per point. I guess that if you knew your neighbours were struggling financially you wouldn’t stand outside their window and set fire to a wad of £50 notes. This thread comes too close to that for comfort. Ultimately I’m inclined to think that you’re unlikely to stop betting and probably unable to stick to a more disciplined approach to staking. If that’s the case, at least consider whether and how you post on here in terms of being responsible and avoiding offence to others.4 points -

Let's move to the other side of the Atlantic and specifically to the Challenger of Orlando. There are two matches I like a lot and hopefully there will be no drama in neither one. Christopher Eubanks to beat Aleksandar Kovacevic at 1.44 with bet365 Christian Harrison to beat Gonzalo Villanueva at 1.35 with bet365 Eubanks and Harrison are superior players than their opponents and I don't think they will face many problems. I expect two easy wins. Good luck.3 points -

I cannot explain how happy I am today! What an emotional night that was! Some heart-warming scenes after the game as both sets of fans mingled in and around the stadium. A number of Welsh fans who were mothers just embracing younger Ukrainian fans and both in tears. Ukrainian fans coming up to us and thanking us for the warm welcome and wishing us all the best in the World Cup. The best of humanity on display last night from both sets of supporters.3 points -

Definitely agree the above would bring more success and may try it at some point. I will stick with this current thread though until I have had 100 cracks at it. Going through an awful run at the moment can’t remember the last time i got to bet 3 Loss of just under £200 after 10 weeks isn’t something I am stressing about. Admittedly I did think I would have had more success at this point though.1 point -

You've not accidentally walked under a black cat have you? Have you got any thoughts on how long to stick with this approach? The thing that keeps striking me (in terms of you being up against it) is having to find the right number of bets at the same time to get your target odds and placing bets with the bookies. In both respects, but especially the latter, that means you will probably be taking worse than the best available price. Anything that erodes value makes it more likely that your strike rate is going to lag behind that needed to break even. After trying my hand at this GH malarkey (without much success so far) I've arrived at the conclusion that the purest approach to take (with best chance of getting the optimum result) is to just back singles and roll the stake over with a view to doubling it. You could have, say, 5 separate starting stakes so you could have more than one bet running at the same time. Basically a matter of trying to hit even money shots slightly more than 50% of the time. I think you'd win more, or lose less, taking that sort of approach. I suppose the question for you is whether it would be as much "fun" as the current approach.1 point -
