  2. As usual we will be seeing horses that are well handicapped based on their pointing exploits (and possibly hunter chase as well) over the summer. This can often be more profitable than the hunter chases. The first runs this afternoon at Cartmel in the 4.29. Oscar Wilde has already won off a mark off 109 when he was trained by Sue Smith, but he had lost his way which is why he ended up on today's mark of 91. He has been revitalised for a change of yard and going pointing though. He's had 3 runs this year and all of them make me think he is well ahead of his current mark. First of all he beat Takethepunishment by 5L who is a hunter chase winner and ran well when 3rd at Perth earlier in the month. He was then beaten 5L by Blazing Tom and I obviously don't need to tell you what he's done. His last start saw him just beat a horse who has won every other start he has completed this season (he missed a marker once) so that form also looks rock solid. Obviously, there is a slight concern he might underperform back under rules, but on his pointing form he's got at least a stone in hand of the handicapper. It doesn't look a strong, but there are a couple of dangers. James Moffatt trains very close to the course and not surprisingly targets the track so you have to respect Rapid Flight who he got from Nicky Henderson. He didn't show much over fences for him, but there was promise in his first start for Moffatt over hurdles at Ayr earlier in the month and no doubt that was a pipe opener for running here. It's hard to think he has as much in hand as Oscar Wilde though. Tico Times is trained by another trainer who does well here and he ran his best race for a long time when 2nd at Perth earlier this month so he could easily build on that, whilst last year's winner Mah Mate Bob won this off a mark of 101 last year and is off just 88 now. He's not run too badly the last twice so could go well again. Ultimately though I struggle to think that any horse in this race has as much in hand over the handicapper as Oscar Wilde does and if he brings his pointing form to Cartmel then I don't see how he doesn't win this. I'm trying a boosted acca today, plus a couple of WTA matches and adding to an outright position. The boosted acca contains four WTA favourites who should win and that's Kasatkina, Sabalenka, Pegula and Badosa. I'm least convinced by Sabalenka's chances because her serving woes might decide to make an appearance, plus her opponent Giorgi has a very high level when she's on and she's looked good so far here and so I'm backing Giorgi in a single separately. The other player I want to back is Jeanjean, who played really well against Pliskova to make this round. Her reward is a match against Begu and whilst Begu is a better clay court player than Pliskova, if I'm Jeanjean then I'm viewing this as a match I can definitely win having just taken down a top 10 player. The outright I'm adding to, despite my misgivings, is Tsitsipas. As I've mentioned, it's very difficult to see how he can win this with the way his game is right now but at the same time I think his price has been disproportionately impacted by his lacklustre performances so far. The fact remains he made the final last year, clay is his favourite surface, his form coming here was good, he's a top 5 player and he should be making the next round at least. He'll need to step up if he's going to be in contention towards the end of this tournament, but as Alcaraz demonstrated last night it's not beyond the realms of possibility. 10pts Kasatkina (vs. Rogers) x Sabalenka (vs. Giorgi) x Pegula (vs. Zidansek) x Badosa (vs. Kudermetova) @ 4.39 365 10pts Giorgi to beat Sabalenka @ 3.50 365 15pts Jeanjean to beat Begu @ 3.40 365 30pts Tsitsipas to win ATP French Open @ 8.25 Betfair Exchange

  6. Jessica Pegula to beat Tamara Zidansek at 1.38 with Unibet Despite nearly choking away a 6-1 5-1 lead, Pegula was pretty awesome against Kalinina, the match was intense from start to finish, bar the first set. Zidansek looks undercooked coming into this and hasn't beaten a player of Pegula's level all year long.

  7. 8 meetings in the UK today, far too many. I have been monitoring the betting in handicaps ( based upon the % market move + other factors). There are 39 handicap races today, and there are 103 runners at an 'average bookie' price shorter than the Racing Post (that doesn't include those trading at the same price as forecast). Obviously some are only marginally (1%, 2%) lower than forecast, whilst others are much bigger movers. In short, a very big headache. As the majority (approx 3/4 ) of winners are returned at shorter than forecast, these are the ones I have been focusing on. That's just the 'shortlist' lol ?. I have used my own way of elimination to reduce the numbers down, the top rated selections come out as follows, figures in brackets are how far clear they are with my figures. 8.00 Fos Las - Chasamax (+14) - 5/2 - Nicky Henderson sends 2 runners to Fos las where he has a 38% strike rate, this looks his best chance. 5.55 Chelm -There he Goes (+11) - 11/4 - beaten around 2 lengths LTO and has a good draw. 4.55 Chester - Roudemental (+8) - 11/4 - Front runner (good for Chester), BF last time out, steps up in trip with stamina in pedigree. 5.24 Catt - Stalingrad (+8) - 11/4 -Again BF last time out, trainer Grant Tuer looks to be coming into form. 8.45 Sals - Ham and Jam (+7) - 9/2 - 1st time in a handicap, 3 poor defeats at 1 mile, steps up to 1m4f, trainer does well here.

  9. Haydock 1.45 This 5F listed contest revolves around the Roger Varian trained favourite Dragon Symbol who Varian acquired from Archie Watson and is officially rated the best horse here by 7lb but was disappointing on his first start for Varian at York only 17 days ago. He may well win this but at around the 2/1 mark looks poor value to my eyes and I’m happy enough to take him on with Raasel each way. The Horse Watchers consistent five year old gelding is stepping up into listed company for the first time but a mark of 101 puts him in the mix here if the favourite under performs again. James Doyle knows him well having ridden him to success on three of the four times he’s won for the Mick Appleby stable and after just 13 runs he could even still be improving. RAASEL 1 point each way @ 11/1 William Hill 1/5th 1234 Beverley 2.05 The 5F Hilary Needler conditions stakes is for two year old fillies and has attracted a field of nine this year. The warm favourite is likely to be the David Loughnane trained Absolutelyflawless who will be ridden by William Buick. She has a big chance although her wins have come on the all weather and good to soft ground at Chester so has to prove herself on fast ground. Star Of Lady M may not have enjoyed the twists and turns of Chester when 4 1/2L behind Absolutelyflawless last time and can get closer today whilst an interesting runner is the Richard Hannon trained Distinguished Lady who races in the Amo Racing silks. She finished a 7 3/4L third at Newbury on her debut to a smart sort in Mawj with the runner up that day winning since. I’ll be keeping stakes small by think the most likeliest winner is Absolutelyflawless. ABSOLUTELYFLAWLESS 2 points win @ 11/4 William Hill Haydock 2.20 A competitive class 2 1m 4F handicap is up next with only a few of the thirteen participants in with a chance in my opinion. The most interesting runner is Mahrajaan from the very much in form William Haggas stable. He’s not been seen for 232 days though fitness could easily be an issue here. That will be no problem for David & Nicola Barron’s Contact, a winner of a valuable 1m 4F Newmarket handicap in April and 5lb higher in the weights now. The horse that stands out to me is bottom weight Forza Orta who ran Mahrajaan’s stable companion Gaassee to a length at York last time out. A 3lb rise may not stop Kevin Ryan’s progressive four year old going one better here and he’s a strong fancy. FORZA ORTA 3 points win @ 7/2 William Hill Beverley 2.40 A nine runner class 3 handicap that features one of the best bets of the day. Tim Easterby has brought his six year old Ugo Gregory around steadily this season and looks ready to win now. He adores this track having won three of his six starts here with his latest course and distance success coming off of the same handicap mark as todays last September (he followed up at York off of a 2lb higher mark the following month). He’s had three runs to get him fit and hopefully ready for today’s contest dropping 6lb and with Duran Fentiman in the saddle. The only negative against him is if the ground was to get rattling fast as he does prefer good ground. Top weight Percy’s Lad is chasing a hat trick following wins at Yarmouth and Nottingham this spring but has risen 11lb for that brace of victories. Wobwobwob is back at his favoured trip of 7F and maybe a bigger threat but for me this is all about Ugo Gregory. UGO GREGORY 3 points win @ 4/1 William Hill Haydock 2.55 Ten fillies or mares go to post for the Group 3 Pinnacle Stakes run over 1m 4F of the Lancashire track. The best in at these weights is the Irish challenger Climate trained by Jessie Harrington who ran her best ever run when 4th in the Dahlia Stakes at Newmarket last time out. Both Darlectable You and Lady Hayes are in foal to Frankel and hold place chances but the one I like here is Sea La Rosa from the unstoppable William Haggas stable who’s currently operating at a 38% wins to runs ratio. She hasn’t been seen since winning a listed race on the all weather at Lingfield last October but won first time out last season and can take this step up in grade in her stride with Tom Marquand doing the steering. SEA LA ROSA 2 points win @ 5/2 Bet365 Beverley 3.15 Another two year old sprint at the Yorkshire track, this time for colts and geldings over 5F. Warm favourite is likely to be Whistle And Flute who will be hard to beat on the form book. Eve Johnson Houghton’s Dandy Man colt followed up his Bath victory with a credible 2nd to Andrew Balding newcomer Bakeel at Ascot with the horse 3L back in third winning since. That should be good enough to win this. The horse I fear most is the Andrew Balding runner Chateau who was an eye catcher on his debut at Salisbury when third to Remarkable Force who’s won since at Musselburgh. Jm Jungle has also had his Hamilton maiden win franked by the runner up going in again since whilst Rogue Spirit was a course and distance winner on his debut but has surprisingly been gelded since. The value may lie with Chateau here at a bigger price than Whistle And Flute. CHATEAU 2 points win @ 9/2 William Hill Haydock 3.30 The John Of Gaunt Stakes is a group 3 contest run over 7F for four year olds and upwards and has attracted a small but select field of eight this year. The best in at the weights is Ralph Beckett’s Kinross who actually won this contest by a comfortable length and a quarter last year and is back to defend his title. He loves to get his toe in and unless the ground dried up dramatically is the one to beat here on his seasonal re-appearance (he won this last year on the back of a 107 day break). There’s actually only 7lb between the whole field and bar the rag Catch Twentytwo a case can be made for all here. Andrew Balding’s Happy Power won well last time at Leicester but this represents a further step up in grade whilst the Gosden’s Sunray Major steps down in class having contested the group one Lockinge Stakes last time. He prefers fast ground however so any cut in the ground may not be ideal. As long as there’s sufficient ease in the ground I’ll take Kinross to win this contest for the second consecutive year. KINROSS 2 points win @ 3/1 William Hill (no bet on good to firm) Chester 3.45 As with all races here over 5-7F the draw is vitally important and this eleven runner class 2 7F 127 yards handicap is no different. Last years winner Boardman, trained by Tim Easterby is back to defend his title off of a 5lb higher mark and a favourable draw in stall 2 and has a terrific chance. Local trainer Hugo Palmer’s representative Fools Rush In finished just ahead of Boardman here earlier in the month and although 3lb better off may struggle to confirm the form as Boardman had a nightmare run that day. He’s the main bet but I can’t resist a small each way saver on Richard Hannon’s 9 year old Oh This Is Us who has also fared well with the draw in trap 3. Only a length behind Boardman earlier in the season at Haydock he’s 6lb better off now and has track figures of 11213. He can push Boardman all the way. Martina Trevisan to beat Aliaksandra Sasnovich at 2.12 with Pinnacle Not quite sure what to make of the odds here. Sasnovich is good, of course, but Trevisan is the most in-form player (aside from Swiatek) on the tour right now and she hasn't spent that much time on the courts here for fatigue to play a role in my opinion. And do I think she's the better clay courter of the two? Most definitely. For my worth, the odds should be the other way around here.

I can completely understand anyone who's backing Ymer. If you're right about Tsitsipas experimenting with his backhand, he might want to give that a rest until after the tournament. It's better to have a weak shot you feel confident about hitting than a new shot you're not so sure about hitting, even if it is a better shot when you get it right. He does need to work on his backhand, but now is definitely not the time - especially as it can take a lot of time to remodel any shot.

Patrick Reed close behind and Davis Riley nicely poised 3 shots back as well. Justin Rose missed the cut. So I shall once again resume my customary Cheerleader role and be cheering on my fellow posters on here to victory. So fingers crossed @Johnrobertson , @Fader , @Xtc12, or @fd1972uk can claim the victory. Best of luck lads.

  17. Well here we are at the end of the whole football year after a very enjoyable 10 months of competitons. Thank you to everyone who has taken part over the 4 seasons, your participation and contributions are much appreciated. ⚽ Our final week of the season produced a healthy weekly profit although only 18 winning bets, and there are some movers at the top of most of the Divisions. Overall we are in deficit, but 34 players ended up with an individual profit, well done to you all. Bet of the week and also biggest profit goes to @Budgie 65 with an 11.5/1 treble followed by @MacPhisto's 8.5/1 treble and then @BARNSLEYCHOP and @PercyP both around 8/1. Congratulations to all our Division winners and to our worthy overall leader @andellio who extended his lead with another winning bet making it 7 out of 8 winning weeks Not sure if we have anything in the pipeline for the Summer but I will see you for the new season in August Tables coming up in the next post

  25. Liverpool vs Real Madrid Liverpool is hoping to win again following the 3:1 Premier League triumph over Wolverhampton Wanderers. Although they were close to snatching the title in the final round, their quadruple dream fell apart with Manchester City's 3:2 win over Aston Villa. It's been seldom in recent times that Liverpool has shown defensive steel. The facts show that Liverpool has been scored against in 5 of their previous six games, leaking six goals in the process. Nevertheless, the Reds are in positive momentum, and they want to make the final step toward winning the Champions League. The Liverpool manager Jürgen Klopp does not have any fitness worries at all ahead of this match, owing to a completely injury-free squad available to choose from. In their previous game, Real Madrid drew 0:0 in the La Liga tie with Real Betis. However, that draw didn't bother them much since Los Blancos had already secured the La Liga title. A run of resolute displays by the Real Madrid defenders has seen their' goals against' tally amounting to 3 from their past six fixtures in total. Over that same period of time, their forwards have scored 14. Real Madrid had a tough road to the finals, eliminating PSG, Chelsea, and Manchester City in the process. Owing to a completely healthy squad available to choose from, the Real Madrid manager Carlo Ancelotti has no fitness worries whatsoever before this game. Full-Time Winner Odds & Prediction It is going to be an exciting game, and both teams have equal chances of winning the competition. Nevertheless, Real Madrid has been real comeback kings in the Champions League this season, and we believe they deserve to be rewarded with a win in this one. Goals Market Prediction Both teams have very talented offenses, and it should be a quite efficient match. Karim Benzema and Mo Salah will lead their sides in the final third, and we don't think either team will keep the clean sheet in this encounter. 26. Liverpool vs Real Madrid The 2021/22 Champions League Final is finally here and it's the highly-anticipated clash between Premier League club Liverpool and La Liga side Real Madrid in an 8pm BST kick-off on Saturday night from the Stade de France in Paris. This is a re-match of the 2017/18 that saw the Spanish team win 3-1 but the game was not without its controversial and glorious moments such as Sergio Ramos injuring Mohamed Salah and Gareth Bale scoring a stunning bicycle kick. Will we be treated to a similar classic here? Liverpool have had a season to remember already after winning the EFL Cup and FA Cup already this season but the Reds were left gutted that they couldn't pull off an epic Premier League title win as rivals Manchester City just about got over the line in dramatic fashion last weekend. Jurgen Klopp's men will be aiming to win a second Champions League trophy in four seasons. It could also be the first time since 2000/01 that the club have won three cup competitions in a single season. This time around would undoubtedly eclipse that last achievement due to them being in contention for the Champions League rather than the UEFA Cup. Liverpool have only suffered 3 defeats in their 62 competitive matches this season. The team finished top of a group including Atletico Madrid, Porto, and AC Milan with a 100% record. They then navigated their way past Inter Milan, Benfica, and Villarreal in the knockout stages. Real Madrid will come into this game looking to make it a double this season having already sealed the La Liga title. Carlo Ancelotti's side are targeting a 14th trophy win in this competition with Ancelotti himself aiming to win the competition for a record fourth time having done so with AC Milan in 2002/03 and 2006/07 and Real Madrid in 2013/14. Los Blancos haven't had the most vintage of seasons having lost more games in this competition alone than Liverpool have lost over their entire season. The Spanish club eased through their group as winners with 5 wins from their 6 games but did suffer a shock 2-1 defeat at home to Moldovan minnows Sheriff Tiraspol. The team then squeezed through each of their knockout rounds by a single goal on aggregate as they eliminated PSG, Chelsea, and Manchester City. In fact, Real became notorious for their incredible comebacks against the odds inspired by star striker Karim Benzema who bagged 10 goals in their 6 knockout matches alone. I don't think many people are surprised to see Liverpool in this final and for all their star names I'm not sure many people expected Real Madrid to reach their stage after their humbling to Sheriff Tiraspol in the group stage and then their dire situations in all three knockouts ties. Yet, here we are! You have to admit there is a feeling that this could be Real's time due to the manner in which they have reached this stage. Is it luck that will run out? Or is it a relentless desire to win that has got them this far and will take them all the way? I'm not sure we'll see a winner after 90 minutes and this could go all the way. That price for a Real Madrid win looks very tempting but I'll avoid backing it simply because Liverpool just don't know when they are beaten. Neither team does to be fair. Mikael Ymer to beat @+1200 to beat Tsitsipas Mackenzie Mcdonald@+800 to beat Sinner Shelby Rogers@+210 to beat Kasatkina With William Hill: Here we have some clear inflated lines. I agree with four leaf's read, and had already bet this.. Ymer hit 49 winners in his last match.. He's friendly with Stefanos, and could be a let down, and rest spot for the Greek. I'm high on Mcdonald for some reason.. I like the way he hits the ball and his experience.. He has a history of doing well with surprises in majors.. Let's also not forget that Sinner may be dealing some feet issues, and might not be playing at his peak level if that's the case for this match.. I just like Rogers on clay.. she hits hard, and plays well when she's on. I see the match very close, and tough to deal with Shelby's firepower.

Mikael Ymer to beat Stefanos Tsitsipas at 14.00 with Betsson If you think Stefanos can beat Ymer then you haven't seen Stefanos playing. Ymer for the huge upset according to the market.

Not a bad day for me in the end. It started off looking like Teichmann was going to lose, but she managed to turn it around and then both Nadal and Alcaraz scored comprehensive victories. Nadal's was expected, but Alcaraz was far more dominant than probably even he thought was possible, especially after his struggles in the last round and against an opponent who beat him the last time they played. Djokovic remains the favourite in the betting and he was an easy winner against Bedene. It'll be interesting to see how he gets on when he meets an opponent capable of pushing him and the same can be said for Nadal bearing in mind his injury problems prior to the tournament.

  31. Knox -2, bet value £15 profit Ancer level, bet value £3 loss Kisner +3 (now +4), bet value £28.50 loss Let them all run and hope Ancer and Kisner have better rounds (though I'm inclined to write Kisner off as an inevtiable MC).

Tsitsipas cruised against the very weak Ymer. The Swedish was absolutely useless, and i wonder why some of you picked him to beat Tsitsipas. For me, Tsitsipas MAIN weakness is his father. I noticed ZERO progress for the last three years. Truly, Tsitsipas was BETTER in year 2019 than now. If he doesn't get rid of his idiot father, no more progress is ahead for him. His idiot father, is the curse of Tsitsipas.

  33. Beverley clerk of course said they had done nothing new been doing same thing at beverley for 40 years rails in rails out. Question i would ask is the horses involved in the "slipping" have they had previous? did they handle track? were they even good enough to be racing? a balanced horse etc. Spokesman said safety trumps all other conciderations so based on that we are going to see a lot more of this, bit like "low sun" BS on jumps.

  36. Fingers crossed Knox can kick on for you mate. It's a good test of patience, calmness and discipline this golf betting malarkey lol. One that admittedly, I find the toughest of all sports to master. So massive respect to all that do.

  41. If you can sign up for a Unibet account then you should be eligible but worth checking the terms and conditions to see if your nation is listed. Not 100% sure myself because I am UK-based and it works for me.
