    Non-League Predictions > August 31st

Wasn't really expecting a day as good as Monday as things don't usually pan out as well as that, but to get 5/7 including a couple of 100/30 shots means we had another superb afternoon. We have mid-week National League action so tips should be up Sunday night for that.

    Non-League Predictions > August 31st

Superb day on Monday with only 5/6 winners at some decent prices as well. If only Spennymoor could have won we would have been looking at another hefty payout. Just to remind people that I always suggest they do singles, but I always cover the acca and the one below for 0.5pts every match day and the five fold on Monday has pretty much paid for a whole season of those bets. It has been a bit of a rollercoaster though this month so hopefully we can end August on a high on Saturday where I have 7 bets across 5 leagues. Torquay v Hartlepool Hartlepool were one of my ante-post bets for the league and I was beginning to think I had got them wrong, but they got a really good win on Monday when beating Wrexham 4-2. Torquay blew a 2 goal lead at Barnet on Monday and that came on the back of beating Aldershot on BT Sport on Saturday. Torquay did well enough and deserved the win, but I didn't think they had to work all that hard for it. I don't think there is a great deal between these two teams at the moment and the win on Monday should have given Hartlepool a nice confidence boost ahead of this. The 100/30 about an away win looks over priced for me. Yeovil v Notts County County continue to improve and although they didn't have to do much to beat Chorley on Monday they did score some very impressive goals. I think they can come out on top in this battle between the two relegated sides. I haven't really been taken by Yeovil so far and they lost their last 3 games after results wise a good start. They have only managed to beat Eastleigh and Ebbsfleet so far though and I think at the time they were two of the poorest teams in the division so it doesn't say much. I would have County as clear favourites and they are certainly looking stronger than they were earlier in the month. Gloucester City v York City York are already looking like they could be hard to beat in the National League North and they are unbeaten after 7 games. Away from home they are 3/3 and I think they can make it 4/4 at Evesham on Saturday. Gloucester had a good win last Saturday, but those efforts told when being well beaten by Brackley on Monday. As I have written in the past Gloucester's form at Evesham hasn't been great although they can make it hard for teams to break them down and they drew plenty in the final few months of the season as they tried to stay at this level. I think York have more than enough to break them down though and I thought York would be odds on so odds against is well worth taking. Hyde v Stafford It has been a good start to the season for Hyde as after losing to Basford on the opening day of the season they have won their other 3 games including beating South Shields last Saturday. That is clearly strong form and they host a Stafford side who have only picked up 1 point from their first 3 games so Hyde look a decent bet to make it 4 wins on the bounce. Bognor v Carshalton Take Bognor's 5-0 win over Worthing out and they have had a shocking start to the season and they lost 3-0 to Worthing last Saturday and they had lost their previous game 6-0! Carshalton lost their first two games, but they have won their next 3 games and should be capable of mounting a play-off challenge this season whereas Bognor might just struggle to get involved. It doesn't really make much sense why the away side are 100/30 and the prices should be much closer together. Hednesford v Needham Market The home side are looking like they will be title contenders this season and have won 4 of their first 5 games with the only defeat coming against unbeaten Coalville. On Monday they beat title favourites Tamworth and I think they should have too much in hand over a Needham Market side who have only managed to beat bottom side Leiston so far this term. St Ives v Coalville Speaking of Coalville they travel to St Ives side who have only managed to pick up one point on the opening day of the season. As mentioned above Coalville are unbeaten so far and they came out on top in an 8 goal thriller against Nuneaton on Saturday. These two teams should be battling it out at opposite ends of the table come April and Coalville look a big price to pick up 3 more points. It seems a fairer system, and I'm happy for it to continue. I would have been embarrassed to take 1st place after Leo's superb run this month. This month was slightly unusual, in that two of the money places were pretty much decided. I think it will be far more competitive in the last leg in most future months. Thanks again to Punters Lounge for their continued support of the poker league!

Andrey Rublev to beat Nick Kyrgios at 2.62 with bet365 Incredible odds for the victory of Rublev who is playing very well the last weeks. Nothing much to say. We all know Kyrgios, he is very good but his mentally not and im almost sure that he will have some of his typical mad moments. Personally I think that Rublev should be payed at 1.80-2.00 not at 2.62 so lets try. Rublev won against Tsitsipas in the first round 3-1 and then just played one set against Simon so he will be rested. Kyrgios has won against Steve Johnson and Hoang in straight sets so this will be his first tough test.

Fenerbahce vs Trabzonspor The league leaders are in action at 7:45pm BST on Sunday night against Trabzonspor at the Sukru Saracoglu Stadium in Istanbul. Both teams remain unbeaten after two league games so far and they'll both feel they can come into this game and take all three points. The hosts are understandably the favourites but it's far from a given against a side that only missed out on the title by 6 points last season. Fenerbahce have won their two league games so far. Ersun Yanal's side don't have the distraction of Europe this season so they're free to focus on their domestic campaign. It's a situation that has seen the club win 5-0 against Gazisehir Gaziantep on the opening weekend and then followed it up with a last gasp 2-1 victory against Istanbul Basaksehir which showed the character of this side. Trabzonspor started this league season well with a 2-1 win against Yeni Malatyaspor and a 1-1 draw away to Kasimpasa. The decent squad morale from league performances was further boosted by the club knocking out Greek Super League side AEK Athens on away goals after a 3-3 draw in the Europa League Play-Off Round. The club did suffer a 2-0 loss on the night which will be a slight concern but they won't dwell on that too long. For me, this is Fenerbahce's game to lose. Trabzonspor could be a tricky challenge with the feel-good factor around the club after their European exploits in midweek. I just feel this Fenerbahce side are in great form right now and on home territory they'll be tough to take points off. I can not only see them winning this game but even possibly getting the victory by a couple of goals. Fenerbahce -1 @ 2.55 with Coral Fenerbahce HT/FT @ 2.55 with Coral

Asteras Tripolis vs AEK Athens The match that stood out for me in terms of value is the clash between 13th placed Asteras Tripolis and ante-post betting title contenders AEK Athens in a 7:30pm BST kick-off from the Theodoros Kolokotronis Stadium on Sunday night. Both teams started their league campaigns with defeats so a win here will go down well with both sets of fans but even just a draw would be an improvement in fortunes. Asteras Tripolis managed to avoid relegation last season and it looks like it could be another season of struggles this year. Head coach Borja Jimenez saw his team only narrowly lose to Olympiakos in their opening game and they'll come into this game thinking they can catch another title hopeful on the hop. Panionios are on -6 points so Asteras are a few points off bottom but they'll want to get off the mark as soon as possible. AEK Athens will be gutted that they started their season with a loss at home to Xanthi. The sending off cost them dearly in the 2-1 loss and they'll be desperate to bounce back to winning ways here. The defeat on away goals after a 3-3 draw on aggregate to Turkish side Trabzonspor in the Europa League Play-Off Round has also denied the club European football this season. Miguel Cardoso was sacked after the league game last week and with the managerial position vacant it's hoped that the players might play with more freedom. It almost worked in midweek as they beat Trabzonspor 2-0 in Turkey but it wasn't quite enough. It's an interesting game and I can see why the bookies are wary about Asteras Tripolis. Their performance against Olympiakos was credible but I think their approach to the game aided them and restricted the hosts. At home, it'll be intriguing to see how they approach this. I think AEK Athens will be buoyed by the victory in midweek even though they were eliminated. I expect a narrow away win. AEK Athens to Win @ 2.45 with Bet365 HT Draw/ FT AEK Athens @ 5.75 with Unibet @betcatalog, @THEODORE-007, @Magic0024, and @Icongene, what do you think of the matches this week?

Both players are playing so well but I think Pliskova is a little better than Konta and she dominates the h2h by a huge 6-1 so that's why the odds are like these. I have not watched Svitolina so i can not talk about her but i have watched Madison a lot and i can say to you that she's in an excellent level. In Cincinnati she won against Muguruza, Kasatkina, Halep, Venus Williams, Kenin and Kuznetsova... that's impressive. She comes from another win against Kenin in straight sets. I repeat that i have not watched Svitolina but if i was forced to bet here will be Madison because she's playing excellent.

    DAILY TRIXIE

Results Update and moving forward from September 2019 No winners today hence a loss of £20. Original Bank £2,538.61 Less £320 July Trixies add £182.96 August Doubles and trebles = £2,401.57 What all this in effect means is that I started on 26th May 19 with a bank of £500 and it increased it from July 1st to £2,500. The original bets were £1 selections that were £4.00 Trixies. These made £38.61 I increased the betting bank to £2,500 on 1st July 19 (£2538.61 including May/June profits) and went on to make £5 selections that were £20 Trixies for the rest of the month. The result in July was a £320 loss. In August I changed tack and switched to backing up to eight selections in doubles and trebles, £4 doubles and £2 trebles. These made a profit of £182.96 for the month. The net effect of all this is +£38.61 - £320.00 + £182.96 = Minus £98.43. MOVING FORWARD FROM SEPTEMBER 1ST 2019 I didn’t do too bad in August and was perhaps a little unlucky not to have wiped out the July Trixie losses. This is encouraging me to continue with doubles and trebles from September. I realise that we have the big field nurseries coming up, the end of the flat and the start of the jumps season, however, I think that I need the continuity of using my strategy so as to cope with the season’s changes. I do feel that the betting bank has been set too high and so I am reducing it to a 60-day continuous loss of stakes which is £1,200.00. I was going to choose £1,000 which sits snuggly at 2% risk per day but two months cover appeals to me more. This being so I am wiping the slate clean and ignoring any brought forward figures. For any of you who think that I am conveniently forgetting my accumulated loss of £98.43, I am the one who has lost it and won’t be happy until I retrieve it in full. However, for the benefit of all concerned, I feel it is just best to start afresh and move on. The rules are still the same. I try to find well-fancied horse racing selections in races every day under all codes in up to class 5 races (not above). My aim is to find strongly fancied selections of prices up to 3/1 Plus in what is commonly known as trappy or difficult races. I should mention that I purposely exclude races with short priced favourites and don’t try to take them on either. The idea is to find horses at the front end of the market that should have a good chance of winning their race. I have come to learn that is folly to expect any of these beasts to run up to expectations, hence I figure that if increase my number of selections then just maybe a few of them will do what they are actually supposed to do

Rangers vs Celtic Well, @dogmeister is back with a bang and he's basically covered a lot of what I wanted to say. It's the Old Firm Derby this Sunday in a midday kick-off at Ibrox and the gap between these two clubs appears to be getting smaller as another season passes. There is no denying the hostile passion that exists in this fixture hasn't mellowed so we're looking forward to classic encounter between Rangers and Celtic. Rangers have enjoyed an excellent start to the new season. Three wins on the bounce in the league has seen them maintain a 100% record and setting the tempo in the Scottish top flight. This domestic form has coincided with Steve Gerrard's men progressing to the group stages of the Europa League after beating Legia Warsaw 1-0 on aggregate in the Play-Off Round in midweek. Celtic are not quite experiencing an unblemished start to their season as Rangers. Neil Lennon's men have also won all three of their league games so far. It's also been done in arguably more emphatic style than Rangers have managed in theirs. However, Celtic have already experienced disappointment in Europe after crashing out of the Champions League to CFR Cluj 5-4 on aggregate. The silver lining is that they beat AIK 6-1 on aggregate to reach the Europa League group stages. This is a tricky one to call. Rangers have won their last 5 home league games. During that run they have kept 3 clean sheets and scored 13 goals. It's impressive stuff. Celtic travel to Ibrox with a stunning record in front of goal this season having hit the net 39 times in their 12 competitive matches so far. I want to back Rangers to win because it would show that the Gers are well and truly back as a title contending team but I still think Celtic will have too much for them. I'm slightly favouring an away win but might cover myself with a draw no bet option because you can never tell with a derby game. Celtic Draw No Bet @ 2.25 with Unibet BTTS @ 1.86 with Betfair

Difficult to assess how successful the double runners is, with Leo running away with the first 3 legs! However numbers in the final leg held up pretty well so doesn't seem to have put off too many from trying. It's a fairer system in that it's not too heavily weighted towards the final leg. Had we continued the double points, on this month's results muttley's final leg win would have taken the league top spot (he did have 2 previous 2nd place finishes in leg 2 and 3), despite Leo winning all the other legs. We'll continue to run with it next month.

Club Brugge vs Genk The Belgian First Division A gives us a humdinger of a clash this weekend when 4th placed Club Brugge face their toughest challenge to date against 6th placed Genk in a 1:30pm BST kick-off at the Jan Breydel Stadium. I will admit I have a soft spot for Club Brugge after a save I had on Football Manager with them. I bought their kits most seasons over the last 10 years so always keep an eye on them. Club Brugge have started the season well with 3 wins and 1 draw from their opening 4 league games. The club was leading the way but has seen a couple of their games postponed so they've dropped down the table a few places. I can't find anywhere online that states why their games were postponed but assume it was the Belgian FA giving them the best chance possible to qualify for the Champions League group stage. If that's the case it's worked because they did it. It's back to the reality of domestic football here. Genk bring a whole new test to this Brugge side. It's been an inconsistent start for Felice Mazzu's side with 3 wins and 2 defeats. This degree of inconsistency can be seen on their travels with the team losing one week to Mechelen 3-1 but then hammering Waasland-Beveren 4-0 on another week. This makes it hard to tell which Genk side will turn up here. At their best, they can tear apart any side in this division but at their worst they become their own biggest enemy. As a fairweather Club Brugge fan I'm only going one way here. Phillippe Clement has put together a really solid team this season and it's going to take something special to stop them. Over the long term it'll be interesting to see how the team deals with competing domestically and in Europe. On this occasion, I think the buzz factor from qualifying for the Champions League will give them a boost and they should get the win.
