Manchester United vs Cardiff OK, so @thfc is telling us to expect crazy score-lines on the final day. @Tiffy is backing his Brighton boys to throw a spanner in the Premier League title works. I'm going to get on board with the shock scores and giant-killing theme by backing my Cardiff to get something in their game against Manchester United this afternoon at Old Trafford in a 3pm kick-off. Manchester United are a club that have become nothing short of a shambles. The inability to beat Huddersfield away in a result that ultimately cost them a place in next season's Champions League was embarrassing. No disrespect to Huddersfield but United should be winning games like that. Appointing Ole Gunnar Solskjaer on a full-time basis before the end of the season was a huge mistake and sums up how poorly run the club has become. Cardiff are not the sort of team Solskjaer will want to play on the final day of the campaign. Rumour has it that Solskjaer could face the humiliation of being sacked if he loses this game. No offence to the man, he's a lovely bloke, but the mistakes he made at Cardiff took three managers and two seasons to correct. I know a lot of Cardiff fans that would love to see us beat them here and send him on his way as a bit of payback. All the statistics back a United win. The Red Devils are unbeaten in the past 8 league meetings meaning we haven't beaten them since November, 1960. They beat us 5-1 at our place earlier in the season when Solskjaer first took over. The Bluebirds also haven't kept a clean sheet in the last 15 away matches against United. I still think we could be worth backing to get something here. We are missing Harry Arter and Victor Camarasa which is a blow but we have players that are now playing without pressure. I hope they'll go out there and try to make a statement as we bow out of the Premier League. It's more likely than not that United will win but I am quietly optimistic we can cause a shock here. Hunter Chase - 6.10 Southwell

First Hunter Chase of the week comes up at Southwell and David Maxwell will be looking to increase his lead in the leading Hunter Chase jockey title. This time he rides Ballotin who looks the most likely winner. He was the only horse to give Road To Rome a race in the Walrus at Haydock and paid for that when ending up finishing 4th. He then went to Leicester over a trip that was a bit short of the ideal, but it didn't matter and he won easily over 2m. He beat Double Ross that day who then went and won at Chepstow. After that he was trying to give Arthur's Secret a race at Ludlow but came down at the 4th last. It was a pretty nasty fall and he was lame afterwards which is probably why he has been missing since. I know some people actually thought he was still in with a chance of winning and although I disagree with them it was still a top effort especially in the context of this race. Shimla Dawn somehow went off favourite for this race last year, but could only finish 5th to Galway Jack. I didn't fancy him at all that day because he wasn't going to get an easy lead and he could never get to the front. Compare that to Musselburgh when I did put him up and he got an easy lead and never saw another rival and won by 15L. He ruined any chance at Aintree when making a mistake at the first and then slithered on landing. He should get an easy lead here although I imagine Maxwell will keep him very close. Hurricane Vic and Martha's Benefit don't make much appeal so Dark Mahler is the only other possible winner. Dark Mahler and Shimla Dawn made their reappearances in the same race at Sheriff Hutton in January and the former finished a well beaten 5th with the latter pulling up. I wouldn't read too much that though as they have both improved for that run with Dark Mahler landing a hat-trick. The problem is I am not sure the form is overly strong. Granted he won by 25L earlier in the month and the horse he beat won on Sunday, but that one won in a very slow time and was 1/2. The drop in trip shouldn't be a concern and it should be a truly run race to help on that front. Ballotin should win this and he is the right price for me. I think Shimla Dawn is the most likely to finish 2nd as I can see him making a bold bid from the front before Maxwell picks him up in the straight. It seems sensible to cover on Dark Mahler to come 2nd as well though given he is the only other one with a chance for me to finish 2nd. Ballotin to beat Shimla Dawn 1.5pts f/c Ballotin to beat Dark Mahler 0.5pts f/c

    Chris Hughton Sacked!

I don't know who else they can get who will do a better job with their resources. I would argue he overachieved getting Brighton up to the PL in the first place. Next season will be tougher at the bottom as the teams coming up are going to be stronger than those going down this season. I can see Norwich surviving, and if Leeds or Villa come up I think they would be ok too. So agree with @ndanmak that Brighton look a good tip for relegation next season.

I'd have opened up another relegation spot for them after yesterday. Bonkers decision though, can't see them doing any better.

    Tennis Tips - May 13 - May 19

Amanda Anisimova/Elisabetta Cocciaretto under 17.5 games at 2.02 with Unibet Low line I know but Amanda is prone to running over lower ranked opponents and Elisabetta is an 18 year old wild card, never been ranked higher rank 701 this season and currently registers at 779. I see no reason why Amanda wouldn't have it her way here and that's the quick way.

Well that the season finished in total there were 140 selections with 76 winners to 1 pt level stakes there was a small loss of 3.45pts ( this would have been improved by finding best prices available I only used prices from Sportsbook and W Hill) Breakdown by league Premiership 28 selections 17 winners with a loss of 0.63pts Championship 38 selections 21 winners with a loss of 0.95pts League 1 39 selections 17 winners with a loss of 7.78pts League 2 35 selections 21 winners with a profit of 5.91pts If you had only backed selections that were evens or greater 32 selections 17 winners profit of 3.47pts The work now begins on next season I will start a new thread for that

    Racing Post Results OverWeight?

The other question about results showing extra weight. If a horse carries a penalty for winning recently it does show in the results The Racing Post says EW5 (extra weight) ATR says (ex5) meaning carried 5lb penalty Grey Mist carried a 5lb penalty here for example.

    Racing Post Results OverWeight?

Hi mate It means they carried over the weight they should have, yes it can mean the jockey couldn't do the weight allotted. It sometimes happens when the connections would rather still have a professional on board and carry overweight instead of an inexperienced rider who maybe could claim the proper weight. Also sometimes a horse will run outside of the weight scale for that race and therefore the horse will carry overweight. For example if in a handicap where the top weight is rated say 150 and carries 11st 12lbs and another horse in the race is only rated 120. Normally he would carry 30lbs less than the top weight but the lowest weight allowed is 10st in any jumps race which is only 26lbs difference. This means any horse rated lower than 124 (150-26) will have to still carry 10st and hence be carrying overweight. Horses outside of the handicap are usually listed at the bottom of the card. Like the 345 at Kempton today, the bottom weight should have carried 9st11lbs but will have to carry 3lbs overweight due to its low rating. It is listed at the bottom (Long Handicap weight) In the results this may show as OW3lbs.

He always comes across as a dignified decent man. I hope this backfires on them.

Sadly No! Great call though- will look out for your tips in the championship next season. I got 5 of 8 on my BTTS and 5 of 8 on over 3.5 goals for a small profit on the final day. Just a shame its now 3 months of next to no football.

    Chris Hughton Sacked!

When the season began the objective of Brighton was to avoid relegation something they have done.So sacking a manager for some other reason ie evolving the team, getting a better manger etc is not only unfair to Chris but very regressive. They are not a Real Madrid or a Chelsea. They will be relegated next season.I will certainly bet on that.
