Hmm why are United 4/7 away to one of the worst teams in the Barclays Premier League? Cardiff are toothless upfront and defensively a shambles. I think United should run riot here given their recent form. I'd be very surprised if this was anything less than a convincing victory for Moyes boys. I'm all over the champions at that price.

I agree. A lot of people have written Utd off this season which is madness. TalkSport, BBC etc going on about Chelsea and Man City to win the league. Well Man City are out of it as far as I'm concerned, as that monkey on their back (can't win away from home) will be hard to shrug off.

I put a £100 bet at 9/1 for UTD to win the league this season. I recon they will come good.

As for the 4/7, you're right, that is too generous and I'm all over that too.

Carrick is definitely out which is a huge blow. Welbeck is still sidelined and Jones who was outstanding in midfield against Arsenal could miss this one too.

    Agreed.
I think people still have vivid images in their mind of the 3-2 victory over City at home, a game for the most part City controlled. If memory serves, Hart had a flub or two which resulted in goals, maybe one off a corner, but either way, I think people are overestimating the home side here.
United with a few guys out, but tbh, they have plenty of guys to choose from and have had a few weeks to get healthier. Plenty of depth to choose from, if the likes of Anderson, Nani, Young, Cleverly, Hernandez can get rotated in. United has shot up the table in the past few weeks, with decent play as well as a bit of faltering from top tier teams, I think at only 5 points off the table lead, they can certainly smell blood in the water, and a few weeks of solid play through the new years will have them in great position to win the league. It's always a bit of a tricky match coming off the international break, as some players have traveled to play with their countries, but with a Sunday game and most games being finished by Tuesday (Mexico just finished this morning), that should not cause an issue at all.
edit, Mexico game should have no bearing now that I think of it as Hernandez wasn't even with the team I believe.

RVP to score first 17/4 with Betvictor

I guess it's hard to provide a lot of reasoning to a bet as obvious as RVP to score first (hardly takes a genius to have a punt on that one) but seeing as I'll never be a genius let's try anyway:

    * United deserved favourites in this game
    * RVP has come in as first goalscorer in the last 2 matches that have come immediately after international breaks
    * Considering he is usually a best priced 7/2 (or thereabouts) unless against the top teams this is relative value.
Compare a price of (marginally) just over over 4/1 for RVP with Torres away to West Ham at 5s and Suarez away in a derby at 5s and Remy v Norwich at 9/2 - I'd say RVP is a safer bet

    Devils advocate here...

United are short priced as: Cardiff are no mugs at home, RVP is carrying a toe injury that kept him out of hollands games, wellbeck has also got an injury and chicarito may or may not be back from mexico in time to be over his jet lag. The centre midfield engine (carrick, jones, possibly felliani) is missing as pointed out on here already, and with jones (and possibly rafael as well) missing from defence then Vidic / Ferdinand is possibly going to be up against the pace of either odemwinge or the ex-united (=highly motivated) forward campbell.

Cardiff have appeared ready with a sensible plan for all their games this season, and have not been missing so much of their squad to internationals as united have.

Not sure I'll bet, but I m thinking cardiff would be excellent value at 10-1.

    4pts Over 2.5 goals 17/20 Bet365

Cardiff are sure to have a good go here. They have nothing to lose and the course of their season isn’t going to be decided by what happens in this match. United have clicked into gear in recent times and look to have plenty of goals in them. With Carrick and Jones injured we could see their defence left a little exposed though so Cardiff should have goal chances of their own which makes over 2.5 goals a very real possibility.

Chicharito didn't report to Mexican team, the coach feared the crazy travel would've been less then ideal for the european based players.

I can't see Cardiff going on a kamikaze mission at home. They are pretty toothless upfront and with the exception of a freak result against Manchester City they don't score many goals. I expect they'll play to frustrate United for as long as possible and hope to nick one from a set piece which is the only way they ever really look like scoring. That said, I can easily see United winning this to nil based on what I have seen of the home team this season. I still think a back of United is pretty attractive given the drift out to 1.60-1.65 (Bet365) with various firms this morning. It's hard to see anything other than a Man Utd win here for me.

United's odds went up to 1.70 at the moment. Will be looking forward into taking them if odds stay or keep raising until kick-off.

Expecting a United win - Cardiff's win v City was a fluke IMO so should not be taken into account

Expecting Giggsy to start against his hometown club and will partner Cleverly or Anderson in midfield with Carrick missing

Hoping Adnan will start after being rested for a couple of games and no international duty - maybe Young will get a start too for his diving ability

Don't think there will be too many goals 1-0 or 2-0 IMO

United look HUGE at 1.75 (Victor and Coral)

    Draw/Utd HT/FT at 4.8 (Victor)

    Under 2.5 at 2 (SJ)

Think Man Utd will be raring to go after city's game and will be eager to get the 3 points in the bag and push on for 3 or 4 goals. Man Utd 1st half -1 handicap 11/2 bet365 and man Utd to win both halves 7/2 bet365 gd luck

I thought we were very poor today - Rooney very lucky not to get a red early on

1st Cardiff goal was top class - 2nd was poor for us because everyone knows their strength at set pieces and we should have been prepared

Valencia was a disgrace IMO - looked uninterested and how the feck did he play 90 minutes when we had Nani on the bench who must be full of confidence after midweek?
