Re: Ligue 2 > 8th - 11th March
Here are my bets on tonight's matches:
CHATEAUROUX v MONACO
La Berri are the only side in the division not to have lost at home. I've written many times about how their synthetic pitch gives them a massive advantage, but tonight I'm going to go against them and wager that they'll lose that accolade tonight against the league leaders. Ranieri has got Monaco playing at the moment. Since the winter break, ASM have really kicked on. I put this down to a couple of astute signings. Bringing in Riviere to supplement Toure and Germain in attack means they have a constant threat in attack, but perhaps more importantly, they managed to snare Obbadi from Troyes, which has been a fine bit of business. The Moroccan provides the perfect supply line to the forwards and also allows Ocampos and Dirar to find more space. Chateauroux are a very functional side and will make life tough, but ASM have the bit between their teeth at the moment and I'll happily take them on the -0.25AH line to end Chateauroux's good home run.
Monaco -0.25AH @ 1.92 with 12bet (1pt)
CLERMONT v ARLES
This is such an important match at the bottom of the table, with both sides trying to put a bit of daylight between themselves and Laval in 18th place. Clermont's home form this season has been really poor and they have been crippled by too many draws and a lack of goals throughout the team. Riviere's fall-out with Brouard has really cost them in the striking department. Arles, however, aren't much better, but they did get a bit of a boost by defeating Auxerre last week at home. Their new coach Dumas has got plenty of experience from his time at Caen and he might be able to spur the southerners on in this one. They have been chalked up on what appears to me as a rather ridiculous +0.75AH line, so I'm taking them on the basis that this match should be tight and Arles are more than capable of keeping it close.
Arles +0.75AH @ 1.80 with 12bet (1pt)
LAVAL v GUINGAMP
The pressure is really on les tangos right now. They are in the relegation zone and are really struggling to find much in the way of consistency. For so many years, Hinschberger's side relied on a strong defence and an impeccable home record. Both of those facets have vanished this term. They welcome a Guingamp side to the Stade Francis Le Basser who are chasing the promotion spots and look very handy with Yatabare, Mandanne, Faure, Mathis, Giresse and Atik forming a devastating attack at this level. Laval are also missing three first-team players tonight, two of which are in defence: Talmont, Gamboa and Goncalves. EAG's recent away form shows two defeats at Auxerre and Chateauroux, but they won convincingly last weekend and are at the business end of their season. I think they have a good chance of leaving Laval with all three points and are my selection on the -0.25AH line.
Guingamp -0.25AH @ 2.03 with 12bet (1pt)
NIORT v LENS
This match comes down to which team wants the win more and for my money, it's Niort. Lens played on Monday night and lost to a very late winner by Nantes at home. They'll have had less time to recover and travel to the Stade Rene Gaillard on a bit of a downer. They are destined to finish mid-table and could be sort of opponents who suit Niort, who are very hard to beat on their own patch, yet often draw too many matches. Gastien's men threw away a decent 2-0 lead at home to Le Mans in their first match, but I was impressed by the way they regrouped and got a good point at Dijon. I think Lens could be a bit vulnerable in this match and I'm happy to recommend Niort on the -0.25AH line.
Niort -0.25AH @ 2.13 with 12bet (1pt)
NIMES v TOURS
I have been really impressed by Nimes this season, especially at home. Zvunka has assembled a very efficient side that gets the best out of its best player Gragnic. They have won nine out of the 13 matches at the Stade de Costieres and welcome a Tours side that just can't stop leaking goals. They just can't keep the door shut at the back and rely on their goalkeeper Leroy to bail them out on too many occasions. Their away form is really poor, resembling the Ligue 2 stereotype (W1, D5, L8). They have the lingering threat of relegation hanging over them, but they should be safe. This match is a tough one for them, up against a Nimes side who perform really well at home. I'm content to back them to continue that trend.
Nimes -0.5AH @ 1.85 with 12bet (1pt)
Bonne chance whatever you decide to play tonight
