Default GOLIATH bet, how much should I win?

Could someone please tell me how much I stand to win from this bet? I just used an online bet calculator to try and work it out and I dispute it.

It's a Goliath bet, and so far I have got 5 out of 7 correct selections, with 1 match still to come tomorrow night.

    Stake Per Line: £0.05
    Number of Lines: 247
    Total Stake Paid: £12.35

    1.) Bolton v Man Utd
    Man Utd @ 2/5

    2.) Real Madrid v Getafe
    Real Madrid @ 1/10

    3.) Heracles v Ajax
    Ajax @ 1/2

    4.) Norwich v West Brom
    West Brom @ 9/5

    5.) Werder Bremen v Hamburg
    Werder Bremen @ 8/13

    6.) Real Sociedad v Barcelona
    Barcelona @ 1/6

    7.) Palermo v Inter
    Inter @ 11/10

    8.) QPR v Newcastle
    Newcastle @ 19/10
The Online Bet Calculator I used said that I would get

£34.97 - If Newcastle win tomorrow
    £8.66 - If Newcastle don't win tomorrow

But I remember seeing that if I got all 8/8 correct I would have won £150 or something, so I don't get why 8/8 correct = £150 and 5/8 (if Newcastle do lose) = £8.66

    Surely it must be wrong?

Unfortunately for you, I don't think they're wrong.

The case is, with 5 wining selections, you have only 26 winning lines (10 doubles, 10 trebles, 5 4-folds and 1 5-fold); at 0.05 stakes per line, it's rather low return.

Additionally, I don't know how did you get 8.66 return? gives figure of only 5.79:

I decided to check it, and I got the same figure:

You can do similar calculation for other case, if Newcastle wins; in that case, you will have 57 winning lines: 15 doubles, 20 trebles, 15 4-folds, 6 5-folds and 1 6-fold; that's still less than quarter of all possible lines, so you cannot expect some spectacular return there, either.

BTW, I'm going to move this thread into Punter's Tools / Betting Help forum, makes more sense there than here in UK & Irish Football forum; hope you agree!

    Highest Odds at Marathonbet
Thankyou for your reply it's very much appreciated.

I don't know whether this is my inexperience and amateur level of gambling showing here, but I think I am personally better off doing GOLIATH bets than accumulators. I say this because if I had an 8 team accumulator with the same teams I selected, and put £12.35 on it, sure my potential return would have been significantly more than if all 8 won on Goliath, but at least you can get SOMETHING back on a goliath bet, even if you don't make profit.

If 1 team messed up my accumulator = £0.00
If 1 team messed up on my goliath = £50.00

Thats the way I look at it.

I only bet for fun anyway and only what I can afford to lose. Probably give myself £15 a week for betting, and one day my selections will come through
